Love Lemons Market. It's the only grocery store in Philo, they have everything you might need and they have a great deli, wine selection and liquor. They have fresh rock cod, oysters and Dungeness crab when it's in season. Service is always friendly and with a smile. read more

Tucked behind the market, you can pick from a good selection of breads, meats, cheeses, mustards (3 choices)/other condiments and the sandwich that they make is huge and delicious!!! Really cute store, but I didn't have time to explore! My daughter got married at a nearby outdoor venue, and twice we placed big sandwich orders for the wedding party as we were setting up... we called them in early, of course, and the orders went without a hitch! Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and a wide variety of choices (hint: you have to request the Dutch Crunch bread because it's not on the list). The sandwiches were fabulous! Although they also offer a gluten-free wrap, my gluten-free bread was great and so fresh it was good two days later (they were so big, we actually had extras, so I saved mine for the road back - yummy!) p.s. each sandwich also came with its little order slip tucked inside an outer paper , so it was easy to identify whose sandwich was whose (and someone thought to write our names at the top) - thanks, guys read more

There's a deli with a good selection of meats, pastas, cheeses, and a good size wine selection--the pasta was delicious. There's every-day household food and goods too. Stopped by on the way to Fort Bragg and although the store didn't look that appealing from outside and within the store, the sandwiches were excellent. I made a custom sandwich with the buffalo chicken on sourdough and the sandwich was exceptional. All the ingredients were super fresh and the sandwiches were very large as well. Great sandwiches, freshly made at their deli counter, and you can take them to enjoy at a nearby winery! (We devoured ours at one of the tables on the porch of Witching Stick next door.) They have little slips of paper on the counter, with check boxes for the various sandwich choices -- bread, meat, cheese, condiments, and veggies. I got turkey and pepperjack cheese on wheat with the Mendocino mustard, lettuce, and tomato. The mustard is SO good, with a hint of horseradish spice. My honey was quite happy with his sandwich as well. The deli person was short on conversation and quick on sandwich making. The market is equipped with plenty of other provisions. The person who rang us up seemed a bit put off that he had to help us, which was the only strange part of our visit. read more

What a great market! Friendly. Great customer service and beautiful meats! If you are heading to Mendo, stop to get your meat for grilling here! We got sammiches. They are huuuuuge! Well worth the $9 fir the Sammy. And they have marbled rye! The cuts are perfect. They slice the meat, cheese, and onions thin but pile it on. The perfect thickness for awesome flavor in your sammich. Plenty of side snacks, too. Multiple flavors of pringles and they have Stewart's orange cream soda and root beer. We will stop again! Since moving to Anderson Valley a few years back I've enjoyed doing my weekly shopping at Lemon's Philo Market. I enjoy that along with basic grocery store items I can find local dairy products, coffee, breads, veges and fruits plus a great deli. Plenty of local beer and wine choices too! This market really helped my family thru the pandemic and I'll appreciate that forever. read more

I liked this old country store. I had the pastrami and turkey sandwiches, both with gouda cheese. I thought they were both very good: good quality meat, tangy pastrami flavor, fresh turkey, yummy gouda. I would recommend the mendo mustard: it tasted like honey brown mustard. The sandwiches are an excellent value and large: I ate one half sandwich for a meal. The staff were nice and friendly in a sort of cantankerous way. read more

Not a very good selection of goods, produce didn't seem very fresh, and the staff seemed a bit cold and gave us the weirdest looks like we were going to steal something. Prices are 30-100% more than in at Whole Foods in Santa Rosa. Pulling up in a new Range Rover, I am not going to steal from your market, so relax. read more

FORGET stopping here. The lady at the deli has a sour attitude. We waited 10 min for her to look up so we could order a sandwich. She kept ignoring us. We finally found small outlet where they hide the order forms. We walked up and asked for instructions what to do with the forms. She said, "PUT THEM THERE OBVIOUSLY" on the counter. After barking at us, I asked if they have oil/vinaigrette. She said, NO OBVIOUSLY IF WE DID, THEY WOULD BE ON THE PAPER! Then she made the order wrong and didn't even follow what was on the paper. Really? We paid for the sandwiches while waiting for them to be made (took forever). Then as I left, I was stopped by the cashier and questioned about paying for them (like they had more than 2 customers the entire time). She can't remember 5 min ago must be smoking something! Just stop in Boonville at a real deli and get better service. These clowns don't deserve your money. read more

Awesome place to stop and pick up a deli sandwich on your way to wine tasting. Fresh cut cold cuts and cheeses, wonderful bread and a whopper of a sandwich for $7! The pasta salad was fresh and very flavorful. We noticed they had fresh crabs for $5.99 a pound and we came back on our way home to pick some up. Cute, friendly market. We bought wonderfully fresh Dungeness crab for dinner one night (which the friendly person at the Deli cleaned and cracked open for us) and had it on the patio of our hotel on a Tuesday night when most of the restaurants in the area are closed. Another day we bought a loaf of the Fort Bragg Bakery dense, chewy multigrain bread and several local cheeses which the nearby winery, Toulouse, welcomed us to have as a picnic during our wine tasting. read more

Lemon's isn't "decent" or "pretty good"... it's excellent! I've seen reviews stating the sandwiches are pretty good, or decent. What a load of BS! Their sandwiches are awesome! We were up visiting family members who own property up the valley from the Lemon's farm, which has been there and owned by the Lemons for, like, a hundred years. We bought sandwiches from them before heading to the swimming hole at the river nearby. The offerings are wide spread meats, you can have regular, brown and even Mendocino (gourmet) Mustard on your sandwich. A cheese choice give you three nice pieces of cheese. I got a pastrami on sliced sourdough, with all the usual veggies plus pepperoncinis (jalapenos offered as well), salt and pepper, Gouda cheese and Mendo Mustard. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had, all the others agreed theirs were as well. Not overly huge, just big, and extremely fresh ingredients made it great! Another thing Lemon's has going for it is the staff. Our hosts made us aware of the family aspects of the store and told us of the fisherman in the family who supplies the fresh fish and other seafoods (there was a beautiful whole salmon in the deli case when we were there... beautiful really doesn't do it justice) as well as the fact that they do their own butchering onsite. You want steaks? A brisket? Rib eyes from hell, and want them 2" thick? Just ask and they will make it up for you. Their meat is gorgeous, they make their own sausages... this place is a local gem where you can find great quality foods at fair prices. They have the very best peanuts I have ever tasted in the store (the roasted salted, didn't taste the roasted unsalted), they have a coffee selection that's kinda limited, but it's in huge bags that you can scoop your coffee from, giving the aroma a chance to waft up your nose. Great stuff. We stopped in the first time while a younger gal was working alone, she was really nice and helpful and gave us directions, chatted with us as though we'd know her for years. Later, we came in while it was crowded. The deli was staffed by two women who whipped out our great sandwiches. I think one of them was a matriarch in the Lemon clan. Very friendly, informative about the fresh fish catches. I so wanted to take some steaks home with us, but we ate so much meat while there we didn't want to force more into tonight's diet, but we'll get some next time through! Their veggie and fruit isle is well stocked with nice, fresh stuff. They have a good selection of chips and snacks, drinks and some of the better local wines (as well as others) plus all the staples you go into funky country markets for, but they have something most of those places don't have; personality. And they have longevity. Reviews that give less than high marks to this market are written by people who either had a bad day or are clueless to the small things that separate this market from most others of its kind. This place rocks! Next time we go to Mendo or Fort Bragg (not to mention next time we visit our Philo hosts), we will stop for peanuts, some of their awesome meats and grab some sandwiches to go! Locals frequent this all purpose grocery, deli, meat market, wine shop, etc. Staff are friendly and food is economical compared to high end deli's in area. Great local vibe, everybody knows everybody else. Grocery goods are a little pricy but the fresh seafood is tough to beat. We bought two, 2 lb crabs that were caught and cooked the night before and had ourselves a feast last night. Probably the best option for fresh crab on our way up the Mendocino coast and definitely cheaper than going to a restaurant in Mendo or Fort Bragg for a winter crab fix. read more
