They are not a lender. The moment you click "See my rates," your phone and email are bombarded with calls, texts, and emails from numerous lenders, including legitimate ones and scammers. It's utterly infuriating, especially because I was foolish enough to use my business number. I texted "STOP" to the number indicated on their website and received the message "This service is not available." I absolutely despise this company just 10 minutes after learning about them. Herpes of Lenders is an appropriate title I saw on another review. Unfortunately I read after using Lending Tree. DO NOT USE! A few weeks ago I was interested in finding out rates for a refi. Thought LendingTree would provide me with list of various rates. Instead, after inputting my personal contact info (with their reassurance they take privacy very seriously and never sell your contact information) I got a notice saying I would get notified of best rates. Never did get any type of list, but now get spam emails, and calls from various debt-free scam artists. They started a day after I requested information from LendingTree. I did not use any other site. In the weeks since I've asked friends and found out nobody I know, or they know, has ever gotten any type of load or finance thru LendingTree. If you yearn for 6:30AM marketing calls, this is your company. The user experience is highly misleading. You fill out their web form expecting online quotes. Instead, it's a front for a 90s user experience: all your info is immediately shipped to several lending companies with marketers at the ready. The calls literally began 60 seconds after I hit Submit. You are then besieged with calls - till 9pm at night, 6:30AM, and 5 between 8AM and 8:30AM, continuing throughout the day. No quote info at all provided online. I called Lending Tree to complain to a manager, he said he would "Immediately" take down my info and notify the downstream companies. Didn't happen. No lie, within 1 minute of completing the application my phone started ringing and it hasn't stopped. Calls went until 7pm and they start again at 7am. Rookie mistake on my part when I engaged the services of this company. I've seen LendingTree ads forever, and have even known a couple people who have obtained financing through them. In the past, I toyed with trying to obtain quotes for different loan products from them, but have always backed out. Recently, while trying to get a survey of possible loan rates, I went ahead and completed the process of providing my information to them, as the website promised "instant" results with regard to interest rates and terms. Wrong. Not true. Disappointing. I provided them with the information that they requested, and I expected the site to provide me with rates from many different lenders for my comparison. I guess I'll admit to being a little naive in this regard, since I did NOT provide them with my full SSN and thus they couldn't run a credit check on me. But instead of getting rates, I got a message that I would be contacted by lenders with "great rates". Bait and switch. So, the next day the calls came. By then I had decided not work through LendingTree, but ignoring the calls didn't work. I first answered a call from a company called LoanDepot. I went through a few of their initial screening questions out of curiosity, but then they informed me that they don't offer the particular loan product that I was looking for. I told them of this, and the loan officer thanked me for being upfront about it. So far, no further calls. I then started receiving calls from Quicken Loans, but this time I told them right away that I'm no longer in the market for a loan. Again, I was thanked for my time and haven't heard anything more. I'm hoping that that's the end of that. I was only informed of two companies that was given my information, and I'm trusting that I won't hear from them or anyone else. read more

Recently, I have been approached by several loan companies offering to discuss my "application." I made no application. They contacted me daily via email and telephone. Their approach was hard-sell and they would not accept that I had not applied. After many unwanted contacts, I was finally able to determine that this business started with LendingTree. During my first phone call to LendingTree, they claimed that it was done by scammers. They told me that in that well-known scammers accent to call my "local police." On my second call, I asked about the status of my loan pretending I wanted to borrow from LendingTree. They looked up my "case" and found the same information they had shared with the other companies. I told them I had changed my mind and asked them to delete my contact information. They promised to share my cancellation with "up to five" other lending companies. Not sure yet whether they have done that. LendingTree had gathered my personal information including name, birth date, address, phone number and email along with my credit rating. During a third call, they finally admitted that they had "referred my case" to the loan companies who have been stalking me. The companies who contacted me were Prosper, FreedomPlus and NerdWallet. Interestingly, all of those companies had already set the amount of the loan, the interest rate and the monthly payments. Over the five-year term of the payback, the loan would have cost me more than 150% of the principle. read more

Tried again in 2021 with 800+ credit and got nothing but endless solicitation calls and emails devoid any legit finance info, options, or answers specific to my inquiry. I left a 1 star review per their email request and it was rejected as "spam". I do not trust them and I have no respect for how they are conducting business--so much so I type here where I can now. How does a company like this stay in business? So I did a search for a line of credit on an investment property and lending tree came up on a google search saying they had banks that could make offers. The next step was the make a profile. They ask for basic information like; name address, value of property, mortgage balance, reason for borrowing, etc. The last question was last 4 digits of social. Then I started to get my phone blasted with lenders to ask me to fill out an application. I spoke with a couple and started the process to get a couple quotes. Turns out that no one on their list offers the line of credit I was searching for but instead offers cash-out refis. So I decide to go ahead with a cash out refi instead. As I got further along in the phone calls to my surprise, they ALREADY had my full social security number on file provided my lending tree. I asked them how that was possible when I only provided my life 4 digits and they said they didn't know and that I'd need to ask Lending tree. Next, I call lending tree and ask them how they got my full social. They said that they use a system with the credit bureaus where they can get a full social by pairing up my name, address and last 4 digits of my social. I told them that they didn't have permission to give a message blast to lenders with my social but she said it was in the fine print (I still haven't seen it. And even if it was in fine print it should be made obvious and not hidden). Look, if you are a legitimate business, be on the up and up with people. If you are going to go through such trouble to misled people and get their full social, just ask them to submit it themselves to see if they are comfortable with that. Leave it up to the customer to make that choice so that their information isn't just floating around out there. It is't hard to make happy customers. Look at your reviews lending tree. What a sham! I wish I would have came to yelp first instead of reading those (probably fake) testimonials on your website. read more

I made a brand new email address on my website just to deal with lending tree. I answered all their questions and hit submit and immediately I was bombarded with 20 emails. later on I was bombarded with 20 more emails that had nothing to fo with lending. If they cant make a loan they will sell your email address and make a buck or two that way. I asked them to take me off their msiling list and I still get 10 emails a day. There is some good in using Lenfingtree as they do have alot if mortgage lenders available to choose from once you fill out your request. However I don't believe they vet all the potential brokers for capabilities and performance. I chose a broker LoanSnap after using Lendingtree and they have been terrible. They keep saying they are working on the loan but it has been almost 3 months now and they still have no idea when it will close. And contacting Lendingtree about the poor service from LoanSnap got a "sorry to hear that" response. If a lender foes not have the resources to process loans they accept they should not take new applications until they can process in a timely manner. read more

Process for applying for pre qualified personal loan was easy and honest offers up front. Securing a loan after the pre qualification process was just as simple and a seamless event. Only suggestion or "buyer beware" is some of the lenders are not as quick as others to announce their up front loan fee or acquisition fee and I feel some habe excessive up front fee amounts. On the flip side they have lenders with minimal or even zero up front fees as well. Overall - great resource for a personal loan. read more

I made a mistake by opening an account online only to compare HELOC rates. They have privacy information in very fine print, nicely hidden so that you don't see it easily. The minute I finished creating the account, which again is needed to compare rates I started getting phone calls from lenders. Sure they sell the info but they need to make it very clear they do and ask the consumer at least a couple of times before making it final. Of course, the minute I finished the application four calls from different lenders started to come in one after the other but when I went back to unsubscribe with the phone number and email I got a message that it will take up to 72 hrs for it to take effect. I am more than aggravated, I am furious. I don't have enough bad words for those people. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. They are the worst. I was considering taking advantage of a some expiring federal mortgage program and wanted to consider a few refinance offers. When they said I would receive 5 offers, I thought I would receive only 5 offers. I was absolutely hounded for a week. I cancelled the account within 24 hours and STILL I received phone calls starting at 8 am to 8 pm. Calling them to get off the list was a hassle as well. Lending Tree acted like I did something wrong. 'Well you expressed interest in refinancing,' -- yeah, but I didn't want to write my name and number on a greedy banker's bathroom wall! They said that they had no control over what the companies that had my contact info did with it. I eventually got them to update my account and add my contact info to a 'do not contact list' - supposedly they were going to tell the same people they gave my number to *not* to call. But the calls still kept coming. It took about a month. That was in August of 2017 and I still received a call in October! Worst company ever. Pick five companies, get me an offer and then leave me alone. They basically broker in your contact info and they could give a rat's testicle if you get what you need. read more

Calling institutions spoofed their numbers, therefore, no caller ID's; in fact, phoney phone numbers with my area code and long delays once I picked up the call. Solution: Lending Tree should send an email explicitly explaining how a customer can take their name off their (and therefore, the lenders') calling list. LendingTree never tells you how to use their no-call list nor the link to it. When a lender told me about the no-call list, even then I had trouble finding the link ... it was buried on their website. read more

I used Lending Tree to request a loan to consolidate my credit card debt. I requested a loan for $5000. I did not qualify for the standard loan companies but did receive an offer from LoanMe for $10,001 at an interest rate of 99.74%. I can't understand how that is ethical for a company to allow such egregious rates and I have concern for people who are desperate enough to accept those terms. When I voiced my concern to Lending Tree about their partnership with LoanMe, they replied that it is not a 100% interest rate so it is entirely legal. I thought that banks had a limit of 36%, but I am being told that as long as it is under 100%, they can offer it. I hope these loan shark/predatory lenders can be put out of business. read more

How Much? 4) How much is your home worth right now (estimate) ? 5) Are you a Veteran? 6) What type of loan do you have now? Expect lots of spam and your information being shared EVERYWHERE. I'm glad my phone can block calls (and email client with emails), but it's not enough- spammy lenders just call from different extensions. Avoid LendingTree.com! While they put you in contact with 5 lenders, the cost of that is horrible. Why? 1. Phone calls at all hours from lenders AND marketing firms that deal with construction, plumbing, inspections, etc. LendingTree sells your info to not just mortgage brokers (this is the type of loan I applied for) but also a host of other companies. 2. Spam Emails. I am still getting emails after two months of clicking unsubscribe. It is horrible because these emails pass through the spam filter. They have your name, address, and phone number so even Gmail can't filter them out. 3. Text Messages. I am still getting random text messages from random companies. It is horrible. My suggestions: just google the banks in your area, google the national banks, and apply yourself at all these places. LendingTree basically just sends you the name of the banks and you have to fill out the forms, etc. the same as if you did the easy google search. read more

Don't be fooled by Lending Tree, which is one of the first links that you find on search engines when you want to compare lending rates. The rate provided by their "lenders" were all much higher than the rates quoted by major banks in my area. If you want a high rate mortgage that will cost you thousands of $$ more over the life of your loan then this is the place to visit. But otherwise it's a complete waste of time for those looking to refinance jumbo loans in California. This site set me up with lenders that were way above my league and they talked me into applying to three banks and when I went back to google the banks I found out they tend to only approve people with great credit.
