I had never been here before but came in to see about ordering replacement prescriptions lenses for my glasses as a back up pair. I had my prescription in hand so I only needed a price and to order. Upon entering the store, there were several customers being helped at the seating areas. I walked to the back counter, unsure of how to put my name on a list, or what the process was for waiting to be helped. The woman was rude, treated me as if I was expected to know who was next (there was no line or number to take) I asked if there was a list, she said no, they kinda of know who was next. I asked where I should stand to wait, and she was again, rude and unfriendly. I smiled and waited patiently about 10-15 minutes until I was approached by Cory. His name tag said Store Manager. He was very pleasant and helpful. He helped me with my choices, gave me a few options to weigh the best value, offered me a discount I didn't even know my eye insurance provided (I was paying out of pocket for my second pair). I haven't yet picked up my glasses but so far I'm very happy I didn't let the rude woman run me out of the store. Cory was excellent! I would give him a 5 star, so I deducted a star for her attitude. So if you meet her, hang in there and wait for Cory to assist you. I had gone to Lenscrafters to get a pair of glasses. I had a really bad experience but i did the survey online and i got a call back from the district manager within a week to discuss my experience. I had explained what had happened and he was very compassionate and understanding. The guy even gave me his personal cell phone number and said if i had anymore problems or concerns to contact him directly and he would take care of it. That is real customer service right there!!! Dorothy from the Capitola store was amazing. I had purchased a frame and lenses from the Oakridge store and everything was wrong. I mentioned it to an employee when I first tried them on, and he said no they're fine that I just had to get use to them. No that was not it. Dorothy had inspected my new glasses and found numerous things wrong with them. From lab issues, axis was significantly off, a crack in corner, and my prescription was off. I'm so glad I went to capitola for a prescription check and Dorothy went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I'm just so amazed how clear everything is now. Thank you Lens Crafters. In the entire store I only found one pair that actually fit me. Although they have the largest selection of glasses in town, they do not have many petite frames. Additionally, when I came in a lady asked me what I was looking for and if I had brought my prescription with me. I told her I have trouble finding glasses that fit my narrow bridge and she explained the middle number to me (which I already knew) then proceeded to tell me that she didn't think they carried anything less than a 16, then said "Oh look these are a 15." Then she told me to start at one end and work my way down, walked away and that was it. I can't believe what horrible customer service they had! All the other shops the people have pulled ones for me to try, and actually KNOWN something about the frames they carry! read more

Great again. I can't say enough good things about Lens Crafters and Eyexam of CA. My eyes had changed a lot in less than a year and I went in for another exam. They didn't charge me anything because they guarantee the prescription for a year. Dr. Batt spent a long time with me because my vision is really flakey (which is why the prescription was no longer working after less than year). She did a great job on a very hard case (I admit it). The glasses were done in an hour; they were perfect; and they were very reasonably priced. I wish all businesses worked like this. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE - Chronically understaffed, their customer service is a joke. I waited an hour just to pick up my glasses two days after they were supposedly ready!!??WTF!!? They messed up my exam and the prescription they provided was way too weak. I went to VSP and got my eyes examined again - went back with the new prescription to get the correct lenses made - they argued with me. They did replace the bad lenses as their policy dictates, but they treated me like I was stealing something from them. I payed over $300.00 for this "service" and product. A mere 4 months later, the left lens just fell out of the frame and chipped the lens. They told me it was my fault that the lens fell out after only 4 months and then informed me that it would be another $100.00 to get it fixed. I take very good care of my eyewear - I did nothing to cause this frame failure other than wear their shitty glasses. I have never had this horrible of an experience at any other optometrist in my life. Piss poor service, piss poor quality of work, piss poor customer service AVOID SANTA CRUZ LENSCRAFTERS AT ALL COSTS they are not to be trusted with your vision care!!! read more

Surprisingly, I had a fantastic appointment at LensCrafters in the Capitola Mall. After reading some of the reviews I thought I was in for an eye roll, but after my appt, I found that my eyes were rolling at some of the previous reviewers, lol. The Dr I went to in the past was gone on vacation for two weeks. Lucky him! So I thought, what the heck, let's give LensCrafters a try. I had been putting off an exam for way too long, and wanted to get one in before I left town for work. I booked my appointment over the phone with a friendly sounding lady named Evelyn, who I later met in person when she double checked my insurance. I found out she was the store manager. She's kind and very funny! When I arrived for my appointment (a few minutes early) I was pleased that I didn't have to wait too long to be seen, even though they seemed busy. A young woman named Dorothy helped me by starting me with my paperwork before we headed back to a "pre-test" room. There, she explained each machine to me, how they worked, and what to expect. It really helped to make me feel comfortable understanding what would happen and what the test was for. (Some Dr's I have been to seem to just want to rush you through.) Everything was quick but thorough, and she was super caring and gentle. Instead of getting dilation which I preferred not to do, she took a picture of the inside of my eye. (Which was SUPER cool to see, btw!) The whole process was quick and easy- and most importantly, painless. After the testing I went into the Doctor's room and sat down with the humorous, but very professional, Dr. Obker. He was very nice and efficient! Everything was explained to me as I went along with my exam. Turns out it was just a little mild eye strain, and I needed a higher prescription. Nothing horrible, thank goodness! After the exam, we discussed what I could do to reduce strain, then I was good to go. I came back out to the main store where Dorothy came back to me and helped me select a pair of frames to go with my new prescription. She helped me find a pair that were both cute and within my price range. Next, we went through the various options and features such as anti-glare etc. I was very pleased with how thoroughly everything was explained to me, and I never once felt pressured into getting something I didn't want or need. I felt like I was able to make educated decisions which was a BIG change from some other offices I've been to over the years. We even took side-by-side pictures of me in the different glasses so I could see what I look like when not posing in front of a mirror, haha! She took my measurements and custom fitted the glasses to make sure they'd fit perfectly (and they certainly do!). She was even super nice and re-took my measurements when I decided at the very last moment to go with a different pair of frames (the joy of being indecisive!). Next, we rang everything up, went through current sales (they were also discussed during the selection process), and I was pleased to find out they accepted AAA for a decent discount! I was SUPER impressed, and will now be going here for my future eye needs. Now, I rarely comment on other's reviews, but I must say that it is a SHAME to slander an individuals name in a review. While we have rights with freedom of speech, it does not give us the excuse to call people thieves, and worst of all, threaten's somebodies safety and employment because you didn't ask enough questions during your appointment. To then proceed to offer no proof or examples of WHY you are making such claims in the first place, is slander and libel, pure and simple- and I am usually the first person to stand up for somebodies rights to freedom of speech! I find it really indicative of ones nature when one resorts to slander, and claims of theft instead of writing an objective review and relaying the Facts of your visit. (/Rant) Anyway! I went to LensCrafters in the afternoon after having gotten my eye exam at my eye doctor's office earlier that morning. For some reason, my eye doctor had applied my materials (glasses) benefits even though I hadn't purchased anything through them. The folks working at LensCrafters were super accommodating and walked me through the process of resolving this issue step-by-step. However, they were also prepared to offer me certain discounts if I wouldn't have been able to use my insurance that day. Once my insurance issue was finally resolved, Rain (spelling?) was exceptionally helpful. Not only did she make the process of purchasing and adjusting the new frames super comfortable and understandable, but she then fixed and adjusted my older glasses so they felt/looked new. The discounts provided were very helpful and I felt like the staff genuinely wanted to make my experience as easy and comfortable as possible. I will definitely return here, and will be requesting to work with Rain (if she's working)! read more

I was supposed to have an apt at 11:20 today. The computers were down AGAIN. Then they said that I wasn't on my husbands insurance and that I had to call VSP to get it verified even though I used this same exact insurance to buy glasses just a little while ago. So while I was trying to call VSP they took another person who had come in after me to do their eye exam and expected me to wait until they were done with that person. I gave up after almost 50 minutes of waiting since my original spot was at 11:20 am. If the computers are down and yet they still have paper work ready, please call patients that are coming in to let them know. I never received a call before hand asking about my insurance like I was told I would get when I called to confirm. Thank you very much for waisting my time on my day off. I've givien this company a lot of my own hard earned money over the years and today I felt like I was just shit on. Thank you very little. read more

This all started when I needed new glasses, and spotted a groupon for lenscrafters for two pairs of glasses. I remembered going to them as a kid, so I thought it might be a good deal to get them there. I called them, mentioned the groupon, and asked if it could be used on contacts as well. Was told no, and this in itself wasn't a big deal. I was also told I would still have to pay for the eye exam itself first. Again, not a big deal, I'd want to know my prescription, so I scheduled an eye appointment. The day of the appointment arrived. I was made to wait a bit, always annoying when you have an appointment, but it happens. I was finally seen, and after the eye test was complete and handed my papers, I was sent out to the people in the eye store. I presented the groupon. Imagine a room filled with eyeglass frames. Then imagine being shown to a tiny turnstyle in a far corner clearly designed with the sole intention of making at once the least coverage and most ugly glasses possible, the ideal combination of aesthetically bankrupt and utterly useless to use. These, she explained, were the free lenses I could choose from. How much would the $150 from it cover? Any of the free ones. If I wanted actual nice glasses, I'd be paying another hundred or so, plus what I already paid for the eye exam. Technically, the deal was $20 for $150, so I suppose I couldn't feel completely misled when they also listed in the description all of their designer eyewear. It was misleading, sure, but it didn't overall lie. Still, the glasses were pretty hideous, and it this point, I was rather begrudging at throwing more money at them. It was at this point I mentioned the contacts again, because ugly eyewear or not, this was something I still needed and one of the reasons I decided to go to an optometrist to begin with. "Oh, you'd need to take another exam for that." Um, what?! Why didn't I get told this when I first called and scheduled an appointment? One of the reasons I was doing this was that I really needed contacts so I could exercise. I was told the person I talked to should have mentioned that I needed to have a special appointment for contacts, it was a different type of prescription, etc. In essence, more time, more money, please. I was done wasting money with them. I left. I didn't take a free pair of glasses, and my groupon remained unused until it expired. Let me repeat that, for emphasis. I LITERALLY WOULD NOT TAKE ANYTHING FROM THEM FOR FREE AT THIS POINT. They handled the entire thing horrendously, and offered to do nothing to make up for it. There are way better places to go get glasses, I'd recommend any of them. read more

I got my glasses here about a year ago, and they had a large selection of nice frames and were also very good in figuring out the best price through the insurance and discounts. A few months ago I started seeing areas on the lens that seemed like the lens was not clean but I couldn't clean them off. Recently the spots covered all over the lens. So, I took it back to them to see what is going on, and they said the coating is coming off and asked me what I use to clean them. I told them mainly water, and perhaps regular dishwashing liquid a few times. They said that the new dishwashing liquids can do that to the lenses, and I should have only used a certified lens cleaning solution on the lenses. They said my only option is to buy new lenses which cost north of $300. I have been wearing glasses for more than 20 years and haven't ever had this experience before. While I'm happy with their frames, I'm very disappointed with the quality of the lenses I bought from them. read more

Janet is right! The people here are so nice and friendly. I came in for an eye exam because I needed a new prescription for contacts and I also needed new glasses. My favorite person there was definitely Dr. Oebker. He was so nice and funny. He kept referring to me as "young lady" which is funny because I'm 29. I was especially impressed with how nice he was to the staff. My eye exam was quick and painless and Dr. O even gave me samples of different contacts to try. Maui helped me pick out frames and gave me feedback on those I tried on, which was nice because I didn't bring anyone along to help me with that. I usually get annoyed with sales people but he didn't hover. He actually picked out the frames that I ended up buying, too, and I couldn't be happier with them! Plus, they were 25% off. An eye exam plus Burberry frames (they have a great selection!) plus scratch resistant lenses can be pricey but fortunately I have a LensCrafter's credit card. I didn't have it with me but Susan (I think was her name?) gladly looked up my account. That way, I am able to pay off the balance with no interest (if paid off within six months). This was by far the best LensCrafters experience I've had and I will definitely be back next year when it's time for my annual eye exam. read more

I am giving one star because I can't give no stars to the sales side of the business. The optometrist was excellent. However, the customer must deal with Dorothy for the prescription information and buying your glasses. Did you know they won't put your PD measurement on your prescription? Technically, the optometrist doesn't have to put it in your prescription. You have to call in and then the supervisor offers the wrong prescription so you can't buy your glasses anywhere else. Luckily, there's an 800 number you can contact to report shenanigans. The sign is posted right to the left of the main desk in the back. You. Have rights and you can do something about it by reporting ppl who are being shady towards you. Watch out for Dorothy. She is the supervisor and she is not trustworthy. If you're inexperienced in buying prescription glasses then she will take advantage of you. She is an opportunist and will take advantage of any situation. She's a shark and just plain ruthless with a smile. How do these ppl get to supervisor positions? They must lie, cheat, & steal like Dorothy. That's how. Welcome to the new world, Dorothy, where customers can expose you, Dorothy, for the real you. Ppl like you makes me sick to my stomach and I will definitely never go back to Lenscrafter. You should be fired because you chase good paying customers away. What a shame. Lenscrafter was my go to eye exam until I encountered Dorothy. What does this say about Lenscrafter? They hired her and continue to employ her. If you read all the negative reviews on here, then you would conclude undoubtedly that Dorothy is the problem. Wake up Corporate Lenscrafter. It's time to clean house and Dorothy should be the first to go. How many more reviews do you need to get the message, Lenscrafter? I wish I read the reviews before I walked into Lenscrafter, so I'm writing this in hopes to help another innocent victim. Run and don't look back. read more

Decided to make an appointment at this place since i work very close to their location. I though "why not give the locals business". Made an appointment and the lady that took my appointment wasn't very friendly, but was great at explaining the difference between lenses. The day of the appointment came, and the staff was also very serious, no charisma whatsoever. I say, at least give a smile to your clients (guess they confuse professionalism with friendliness, a person can be both). Anyways, the doctor was okay, however when we were done with testing she did not bother to inform me of the results. So i had to ask. The lady who rung me up for the services along with the items i was going to take was serious...again....not friendly at all. Honestly, i regret going here. Even though they provided service they should remember that people/customers want friendliness when they come in as they feel comfortable. Also, i hope the doctor explains the results to others and just forgot to explain mine that day. read more

I'm very disappointed with this place! It would literally have been faster and the same price to get a pair of glasses from an actual eye doctor! My husband was promised his glasses today... As I called two days ago and they said they would be ready no later than today.... We get here and were told they didn't pass the final inspection so new lenses needed to be ordered and that they literally had called us before we got to the store...
