I bought a pair of expensive glasses at Lens Crafters. A month or so later I lost the screw on arm of glasses. I brought them back to get them fixed. The manager told me I would have to wait for the person to come in and fix them. I let him know I had to be someplace by 10:30, it was 9:50. He told me the employee would be to work by 10. Not sure why he couldn't fix them as he was just sitting and scrolling on his phone. At 10:05 I got up and said I couldn't wait any longer, he said ok, bye. I will never use Lens Crafters again! I went to Costco after my 10:30 appointment and the gentleman fixed them in seconds and I didn't even purchase them there! read more

My family and I have been long-time customers of the Dedham, MA location of Lens Crafters for our eyewear needs and they've generally provided good customer service but today's experience was a nightmare. I brought in a new pair of new frames whose lenses I wanted changed and asked the representative Ada if that is something that's easy to do. She took the frames and started to push on one of the lenses to push it from the frame but her hand was at such an angle that the outward pressure against the inside of the arm broke it off. I asked Ada what she could do to make it right, and she said she would glue the arm back on but that it wouldn't last. When I then appealed to the male store manager on duty to ask what recourse I have given what just happened, which he witnessed, he said switching out lenses is a courtesy service and if something goes wrong it's not their responsibility. He also said LensCrafters does not glue pieces back together, yet that was right after Ada had glued the arm back on. Ada accepted no responsibility for mishandling the frames and breaking the arm. I was sick to my stomach because the frames cost $650, but I kept my cool and calmly asked her if she and the manager understood why I'm upset that I brought in new frames with a question and was now leaving with broken ones that won't last, and Ada said "Don't ever come back to the store again." It was an insult on top of injury, and now I'm going back and forth with Lens Crafter corporate to try and have them replaced read more

Shady business practices, useless employees, overpriced junk glasses. What else is to say about this business and this location in particular. Got glasses that don't fit because they were thirsty for a sale. I went in 4 times to get adjustments (no one until the last time suggested they maybe too small) on top of that I was convinced to get a warranty that is also useless. I ended up going to a new eye doctor (and paying for an additional exam) because I felt as though the contacts prescription I was given was incorrect. Don't get me wrong- the doctor here was very nice, but I cannot recommend this place based on my experiences. LensCrafters allows you to go back for free to adjust the contacts RX, but when I went back, it felt like I was getting farther from the mark. My RX from my previous eye doctor (which I had no complaints with) going into the first LensCrafters appointment was a -3.75 and after follow-ups at LensCrafters I left with a -3.00. That is not right! My vision didn't heal itself! (I wish!) I also said the trials they gave me hurt my eyes, and he seemed reluctant to let me try a different brand. "Well, how bad does it hurt?" Bad enough!! They also put a pre-auth on my vision insurance for ordering contacts without my permission. It meant that my new eye doctor couldn't order my contacts; I had to call VSP and get the pre-auth removed, which is an unnecessary pain in the butt! Speaking of VSP- LensCrafters wasn't very forthcoming that they're out of network, even when I asked them (the VSP rep on the phone said they weren't in network, and I'm more inclined to believe her than LensCrafters). read more

Not good - what happened to the previously good customer service??? I went to get my scratched lenses replaced. I left my frame and was assured it would take one or at most two weeks due to Covid to do the job, which is fully understandable. I did not hear back from LensCrafters and called myself after 2,5 weeks and they couldn't even find my order for some time until a representative got back and said the lenses came in that day. I drove to Dedham to pick them up and they couldn't find them and presented me two unfinished lenses and requested my frame to finish the job. They got my name wrong and confused the order with someone else's. After I told them that I left the frame on my initial visit to speed up the process they finally located the finished glasses. They didn't even ask to adjust the frame and when I asked for it the staff member did it and handed me the glasses back - full of fingerprints and not cleaned. Top notch customer service for my 6 year old's first pair of glasses. We went in and were immediately greeted by Kim. He was so friendly and attentive to my daughter and explained everything about her prescription and when she should wear glasses. He made picking out and ordering her glasses pleasant and easy. We went back the next day to pick up her glasses and were greeted by different staff who were equally friendly and attentive. Also there is a great selection for kids and a half price deal. If you're looking to buy glasses this ain't the place! I got my glasses from here three years ago with no problem. Now the customer service is the problem with this place. I went there a couple of months ago looking for a pair of eye glasses. The gentleman helping me was nice and I ended up getting a pair. However when I received the pair it didn't fit and I didn't end up liking how the glasses looked on me anyway. Lenscrafters says it has a policy that you can return them if you're not happy. I spent a lot on the glasses and thought if I'm not happy I would return them. When I went back I was completely ignored by the sales associates. It wasn't busy. One guy stood staring at the computer screen the whole time. No one came over for about 10 minutes. The store was closing in 15 minutes. One guy ended up coming over and was extremely condescending..and asking why I was returning the glasses. What's with the 3rd degree? Just take back the glasses and give me back my money. He then tried to sell me another pair of glasses with 5 minutes left of the store being opened. Eventually he refunded the money but was rude. Today I was on the website to order a new pair of glasses (giving them business even though they don't deserve it from the last time). I called the store and spoke to a gentlemen who gave me measurements for my glasses. I called again to double check and a woman picked up. She was rude and not helpful. I'm a paying customer and that's how I'm treated? No thanks! So I made the decision to take my business else where. read more

I normally can't stand retailers like Lenscrafters but I got a coupon in the mail for 50% off any lens so I figured it was a good time to go. I opted for the Lenscrafters at the Braintree Plaza and it was utterly disappointing - bad service, limited selection, crappy store layout. Determined to try once more I went to the Lenscrafters in Dedham. This location is HUGE, everything is laid out intuitively, they have a great and gigantic selection of frames, and the customer service was excellent. They had my lenses in store and promised an hour turn around time. This has never happened to me! I usually have to wait a day or two! Price was decent, especially with the coupon. I visited the eye doctor here which has nothing tied to the actual store here. Once I got my prescription, I browsed inside the Lenscrafters and was immediately jumped on by 4 pushy and aggressive sales associates. It became obvious they get paid by commission here since they came off as desperate and almost like they would not let me leave unless I bought a pair of glasses. They had a lot of the latest styles here but all high end and very expensive. They also had sunglasses and again high end and expensive. I ended up picking out a pair and they sized them and then rushed me over to the sunglasses section as they were having a 40% off sales if you buy regular glasses. What this amounted to was an extra $360 charge for sunglasses which was outrageous even for high end styles. What they dont tell you is if you use insurance on your glasses, it actually makes the second pair higher priced. Plus they tack on hidden charges for "protection ($34) and cleaning ($14) without even explaining the additional charges. My total for the glasses and sunglasses came to almost $700!! I called the next day to return the sunglasses and some manager got on the phone and tried to talk me out of it and knocked $100 off the sunglasses. After thinking about it more, I visited the store a day later and did a return for the entire sunglasses purchase. For $360 I can get a high end pair without a prescription. As for Lenscrafters, I think I will take my business elsewhere. I do not need pressure to buy glasses especially by commission based sales people! read more

The staff are good. Selections are decent but workmanship sucks. I chose a premium semi rimless frame from this location and they goofed up the lens. The technician failed to cut the lens to the shape of the frame, leaving ugly gaps(gap between the rim and the lens) on both sides. It looked very awkward. When I took this up with them, first they denied, the used the usual pitch - ' you know what semi rimless frames have this trouble, so chose another one blah blah blah '. I didn't buy it, the store can probably tell that story to kids not me. I asked them to give it another shot, they politely agreed to remake the lens for me but no change this time - they were not able to cut the lens precisely. But guess what, I went to another location of lenscrafters - in the south shore plaza and the manager there believed they could do better. He acknowledged the issue and said he will ask his technician to make one fresh for me. Know what? they did. A perfectly finished lens on the frame I loved. As a brand, lenscrafters impressed me but workmanship at the dedham location mmmhmmmm, I'm not going there again! read more

I had a horrible experience returning a pair of glasses I bought here. The general manager stated the glasses weren't able to be returned because the temple and hinges (side of the glasses) would bend outward if some pressure is applied because I wore them. I asked to see another pair of frames and guess what, THEY BENT OUTWARD AS WELL. I guess these glasses were DESIGNED to bend outward to adjust for the users head (obviously). She continued to say I can't return these because they were worn - well yeah I had to wear them...I had to try them out didn't I? How am I going to test them out if I don't wear them? The store manager eventually processed my return but the experience I had at the store was by far the worst. Their 90 day "Unconditional Guarantee" return policy is the WORST POLICY i've ever seen. I spoke with the lenscrafters hotline and they said "if the glasses aren't returned in the condition that they were given to you on the day of purchase, then they can not be returned for any reason even if you only wore them for one day. If they're bent a little bit we can't return them for you". Seriously? ONE DAY of use and you're already out of the return policy. If you're looking to purchase a pair of glasses I would suggest you avoid Lenscrafters completely and make your purchase at another store. I purchased a pair of glasses from a smaller company at a 1/3 of the price. Message me for the details. Don't feed this company designed to screw over customers. read more

Purchased a pair of Burberry Prescription glasses 8/2016. The welded frame came apart. When I returned to Dedham location, I was told to take glasses to a jeweler for repair. Had to contact Luxottica and they agreed to replace frame, but I still have to buy lenses The entire eye glass industry is controlled by Luxottica, but I will NEVER return to LensCrafters. read more

This place is terrible. Went to see the eye doctor for a scheduled appointment and they tried to persuade me into paying 40$ Because they don't want to dilate my eyes and instead get an optoscan. How are you going to offer that to protect your staff but then make it pay it? You can cover the 40$ if that is what you want to do. On top of that, they want to keep their doctors safe but do not care about the customers. When you try on glasses they tell you to leave them on the counter... makes sense. But they DONT EVEN CLEAN THEM, and put them back. I watched EVERY STAFF MEMBER do this. On top of that the workers want to give you attitude for trying things on or being there. Not to mention the only reason we kept browsing is because the doctor was over 40 minutes late. This LensCrafters is trash. Save yourself and go to Braintee. read more

Amazing customer service at this location! Long story-- Three years ago I purchased a pair of frames (plus a back up) from the SSP location. I have a very high prescription, which makes my lenses very expensive (cheap lenses would be too thick to look decent in any frames). I also chose very heavy and sturdy frames from Tom Ford, knowing from experience that they hold up better than the plastic ones. Recently, one of the nose pads on my glasses fell off. I originally went to this Dedham location, which did not have the specific nose pads, and they referred me to the location I bought the frames at (SSP). The SSP location would not tell me over the phone if they had the nose pads, even when I offered to give the brand and style number, and that I had to come in person. When I said that the nose pads were very hard to find and that Braintree is a far drive for me, the person on the line told me that they would have the replacement nose pads "if I had actually bought them at LensCrafters". When I drove all the way there, they told me that if I had called and told them they were Tom Ford they would have easily told me they did not have them in stock. I was told that I would have to contact the company of the designer myself. It turns out these nose pads tend to fall off and are nearly impossible to replace. I went back to the Dedham location, finally deciding to bring both pairs in hopes that they could take a nose pad off of my back ups (which for some reason were not adjusted to my face so I never used them) and put it on my regular pair. Not only did one of the employees take apart both of my glasses and reassemble them so I have one "perfect" pair (with the unscratched backup lenses in the other frame) he also cut new nose pads that fit my back up pair. He went totally out of his way to make sure I had two pairs of glasses that were useable and comfortable--free of charge. I was really impressed with the attention to detail (fixing a part of the glasses that was damaged) as well as the customer service of everyone there. Much better than the SSP location! read more

Dedham store is horrible! Manager on Sun. Dec.6 and salesman on that day should be fired! I had great service before , I will never go back! I already told other friends and family to go to other places! Manager and salesperson were abrupt and not concerned in helping my son or husband get glasses fixed! They did not seem qualified in giving suggestions as to why they could not fix my sons glasses! The store was not busy at all! They made no suggestion as to an alternative! We had an excellent Salesperson Stephan, he provided all the information we need, helped us to find out the right product, answered all of our questions and was super smooth. I purchased glasses in June of 2018. The anti-reflective coating is coming off the lenses that I paid extra to add. I returned to the store today, 12/3, and they said I should have purchased a warranty or I have to buy new lenses. There is no damage to the lenses. Just the coating is coming off. The Store Manager, Dorina Armada, said she cannot help me. Should my lenses only last 5 months? I said I don't think I would buy LensCrafter's lenses again. She said "It is fine with me if you don't ever buy here again". This is my first experience with LensCrafters and it is terrible. I purchased 3 pairs including sunglasses and the service at this location is terrible. In June, they gave me gun metal frames instead of black frames like I ordered because they ruined the black frames installing my now defective lenses. They super glued my Ray-Ban Sunglasses because the rubber ear piece was loose at pick-up. In August, the lens fell out of my frames because the fishing wire they used was defective. How is this a good experience? Very willing to help when they are selling you a bunch of glasses, but after they don't want to see you again. read more

I brought in a pair of glasses I had purchased one week ago at the Cambridge location that were not filled/fitted properly. I explained this to the customer service representative. No apology or anything. He just directed me to a chair, where the optometrist (I assume) listened again as I told him that the glasses were not fitted/filled properly as I could not read at all using the reading part of the bifocal. He took the measurements by hand this time rather than by machine and agreed that they were improperly filled. He informed me that the glasses would be ready next week, which I informed him was not ok, because I had already been inconvenienced and originally paid for expedited lenses. He told me 2 hours, and ultimately they were completed 3 1/2 hours later. I found this experience less than positive and the sales staff willing to say what they think the customer wants to hear to make the sale. I find the employees at Target Optical in Westwood far more helpful and kind, I will be taking all of my vision needs there in the future, read more

My 10 year old daughter had been squinting at the chalkboard in school for ages until she finally admitted she needed glasses. I felt sad that she hadn't known what it was like to see clearly for all that time! So, I bought a pair of eyeglasses for for her at the Lenscrafters in Dedham, where the salesgirl sold me on the anti-glare coating. 35 days later, my daughter handed me her glassses, saying they were "foggy". Now, keep in mind she is a meticulous girl--during the past 35 days, she carefully kept the glasses in her case, taking them out only while at school, and always replacing them in the case after use. The only time she cleaned them was wiping them with the cloth that came with the glasses, never adding water or any cleaner to the the lenses. I began cleaning them with a cloth and found that one lens had imperfections that wouldn't come out with a good rubbing. I then realized that it was the anti-glare coating that had begun to come off--or that had not been applied properly when manufactured. Naturally upset at having to return the glasses to Lenscrafters to replace the lens after having so recently purchased them, I made the trek back to the store. Instead of immediately taking care of the issue, Lenscrafters said they wouldn't replace the lens, as the glasses were just out of the "30-day guarantee period". I was flabbergasted: "So the anti-glare coating is only good for 30 days!?" The representative gave a thin smile. "Well sir, I have a solution for you. Even though you didn't buy it at the time you purchased the glasses, you can buy the 1-year extended care [$35] plan, then pay a $25 co-pay to get the lenses replaced." I was furious. "So you want me to pay more money for something that should have been done properly the first time?" I next spent 15 minutes arguing with her, telling her that, if they couldn't stand by the quality of their product, they would have a very unhappy customer. She tried to tell me that a manager wasn't on-site, that she couldn't authorize a replacement, and I would have to wait until Monday when the manager would call me back. "Uh-uh," I said. I couldn't believe they wouldn't just own up to the problem and fix it. My daughter needed the glasses for school and I couldn't bear thinking of her squinting at the board and feeling like she didn't know what was going on in school. Finally, after hearing me state emphatically that I would not pay anything extra for a product that should have been provided without defect, the woman went into the next room (where the lens maker was at his duties), and returned a few minutes later. She reluctantly said they would do it as a "one-time thing". She then tried to sell me again on the $35 extended care plan "for scratches and breakage"--forgetting for a moment that such a plan wouldn't apply to poorly produced lenses that are the store's own defect. A few months ago, we had purchased my wife's glasses at that same store, but after this experience, we both agreed we would never go to Lenscrafters for anything ever again. Buyer beware! read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Charged me $110 for an eye exam with their sales team tactic by having me go in twice in a year period knowing that my insurance wouldn't accept it. Absolute scam will be taking my business somewhere else. They did not try to resolve it when I called several times. I recommend you NEVER go to this place to spend your money. Went to this place, and paid a lot of money on lenses. The lenses started to get stains on the second month. I tried for them to fix this (since its a quality issue, not due to a miss use) and they didn't wanted to. I tried with the customer support by mail and by phone several times for months, and they were always saying they were going to resolve it but nothing. read more

I'm looking around trying to find glasses smiled at 3 employees so that I can possibly get help. They don't smile back. No one said anything when I walked in or asked if I needed help. I just went today at 3:15 to get my frames fixed. Low and behold, I was told my warrenty I purchased has expired, by 25 days. Go figure. The gentleman helping me was not helpful. They don't have my frame any longer, suggested I give him permission to find the exact frame. Because the current lens would only fit in that frame...duh. Wouldn't you try and find the frame ASAP with out permission. He seemed very disinterested in helping. Plus he put his fingers all over my lens, gross. I've shopped Lens Crafters for years. I scheduled an appointment online and the day of my appointment I received a call asking what type of insurance I planned to use. When I told her my insurance plan she apologized and said they do not accept my insurance. I then explained to her that the only reason I picked LensCrafters was that I found them through "Find a provider" function on my insurance website! Not to mention when I booked the appointment on the LensCrafters website it also says they accept my insurance!
