I scheduled an eye exam a week ago and twice filled out their screening information. I got there this morning and the bubblegum chewer lady with the obligatory nose hoop let me know that my insurance (VSP-Guardian) is not accepted. It was easy to decide that this place is not pin business and solicited information that it does not use. My time and my information are valuable. I left. These places are not busy and have no use for the information they request. Remember that you are submitting HIPAA protected information to bubblegum chewers who have no use for the information apparently. I made an appointment with another national chain. Name and telephone number was all they needed, much much better service and prices! read more

Avoid this place! A nice lady with red hair had originally been helping me. She helped me find my insurance told me what allowance I had for frames and lenses. After I found a pair I went with this other girl (long black hair, horrible black out tattoo) who then gave me a quote AFTER insurance that was so outrageous I couldn't believe it. The last time I got glasses my insurance covered EVERYTHING. I maybe paid at most $50. Instead of offering to help me find something else after I told her I'm not trying to spend $300 on glasses that I wear once every 3 months she just sat there and stared at me. So I got up and walked out. Horrible customer service. I then went home and found the exact same frames online and ordered them with my insurance for $10!!!!! read more

I visited Lens Crafters twice on a Sunday and both times it was a great experience. I visited on May 20 to check out frames. I tried on a bunch of frames. Diana helped me pick the best for my face and budget. They placed them on hold for me. On May 27 I brought in my new prescription. Easy peasy. Diana grabbed my glasses out of the hold draw and they worked up the order based on my old glasses requirement that was on file. Eye Med went through fast so I was in and out fast. New glasses in a week due to progressive and special lens coating but its worth the wait. read more

I called today at 10 am to see if they had availability at the meadowood location. They didn't so contacted this location and said they had availability at 2:45. Now usually I go somewhere else but they didn't have any availability for a while so I'd thought I'd try another place in my network. So here I was. I get there and she's says on top of my copay I have to pay an additional fee for retina imaging. Which totaled about $80. Not only have I worn glasses for years and was a science major, I look at eyes because of my career field. My point is I know this is crap and it's a way to get money out of people. I also can't see without my glasses so my eye health is important so it wasn't about the money but the principle and lack of communication. I usually pay a certain amount and would have been paying more for an appt simply because I made it the same day. Also, during the exam, they should be looking at the overall health of eye so the imaging is not necessary. Either way, I wasn't told nor was I aware that my later in the day APPOINTMENT was considered a walk-in or rather same-day appointments would be additional. I get hit with that news as I'm filling out paperwork. The receptionist was nice and said she would speak to the doctor. The doctor said no and som other stuff complaining and I could slightly overhear their conversation. The receptionist relayed the information. I had the option to make an appointment for tomorrow and not be charged the fee... so I did that but I wind up finding a place 5 minutes from my house, where the imaging was optional and cheaper. I just waited time and gas driving 30 minutes for an appointment I never had. I thought it was very unprofessional and will not be going back. Having signs in the office is not enough. Most people use the internet and phones, where that information is not visible/posted. Please, relay that information at the time of making an appointment. read more

Yah the techs forgot about me and went to lunch. I waited nearly an hour to see the doctor because I was forgotten about. They try to pressure you to do this additional $25 test that most people don't need. They tell you it's that or free dilation. Absolutely not. I'm 26, not 56 and I don't need my eyes dilated. VERY pushy about it. If you're not strong-willed enough, I can see someone folding because they think it's necessary. Definitely not going back. read more

There's a HUGE long story attached to my visit to Lenscrafters, and I'll spare you that. It took almost three months to get my prescription sunglasses AND my regular glasses (with the progressive lenses). It all had something to do with getting my prescription someplace else and bringing it to Lenscrafters. It also had to do with my insurance and who they would and would not deal with. This will all change the next time I need glasses, I can assure you. However, for Lenscrafters part, they were just 'extra'. They really bent over backwards to help me in my troublesome situation. Even to the point where I had a whole new set of glasses (both sun and regular) re-made, at no charge. And now that I have them, I LOVE them. The people who work here are good at what they do, and very friendly. While waiting for an 'associate' (or whatever they call them here), I can hear the conversations with other customers and everyone seems to be pleased with their service. Nice place, nice people. I'll be back. It's certainly less crowded, and therefore less time consuming that the one at Meadowood Mall. read more

Poor service and crazy expensive prices. They messed up my eyeglass order and failed to fix it with 100% happiness guarantee. Their prices with insurance discount was still more than double the price of going elsewhere with no insurance. Went to Costco and paid for membership and 2 pairs of the same brand of frames for less than 1 pair of glasses at this store. We've been going here since moving to this side of town several years ago. Dr Polukoshko is the best and she is what keeps us coming back. Prices are reasonable (AAA discount is nice). Eye exams are always prompt. Staff in the glasses and contacts area can be a tad absentminded. They also offer a great service which is returning unused boxes of contacts if unopened, unexpired and not marked on. Nice bonus when you have a few boxes left at your yearly checkup and your prescription changes! I will never buy glasses or contacts anywhere else in Reno. read more

This Lenscrafters does not have a lab, and while the staff is nice, if the glasses dont come in the have no way to track it. Frustrating to the customer. I have been waiting over 4 weeks and are now trying to get a full refund of what i paid for my glasses. Save your frustration! Go to Costco! Partly because you can't provide all the services we need, in this case the glaucoma testing my daughter needs, and mostly because you sent us to another LC (Meadowood Mall) for that testing where we were treated rudely, told the optometrist you made our appointment with doesn't take our insurance and then I'm pretty sure they even lied about trying to call us. I called you and left a message with what happened and no response. Now LC has lost all my business. I'll go somewhere that can meet all our needs in one place and treat us like they're glad to have our business. read more

Had my contact lens appointment less than a year ago. The first set of contacts I put in hurt my eyes and were extremely uncomfortable. I called the office and was told "my prescription hadn't changed." Almost a year has gone by and I still have only been able to wear my contacts for less than an hour a day because they are so uncomfortable. I scheduled an eye appointment and thought. Maybe the shape of my eye has changed? The receptionist called me and told me that I would have to pay out of pocket because it has been less than a year. I have had contacts for almost a year that I PAID for and, have not been able to wear! So, how does that work?!?! Instead of asking me to come in so the eye doctor could check my eyes WITH the contacts on the first time; they instead just tried to persuade me that nothing had changed and I'm out of luck. I've been a loyal customer of Lens Crafters as long as I can remember and up until recently would have recommended them. After my latest experiences, my opinion has completely changed. I have been in for a refraction (charged and sent to specialists) 3 times now. Each time is scheduled by the Dr. then half way through my refraction, the Dr. stops and says "Let's just wait." I finally have the approval to complete my refraction from the specialists and the Dr. at this location is going to charge me again- for a service I have paid for previously and never received. They have already billed my insurance and stated they would notate that I've already paid.... so why am I being charged again? Update: I was just contacted by this Office and advised the Dr is going to discontinue seeing me due to this review. I will NEVER use this office again and will be contacting my insurance about this Dr billing for services that have yet to be completed. Horrid customer service. I stand by my review. I've purchased my glasses from this store maybe three times now. My wife has as well. I usually try to shop local, but this store and the people have always given me such good service, money back guarantees when I'm not happy and they replace broken glasses, for any reason, for $25.00 for the first year. I wear progressive lens and both times even though they quoted me two weeks for the lenses they came in in 4 or 5 days which was a surprise both times. I just recently purchased new glasses and can say I was happy with the selection, the custom service was beyond top notch and the eye exam was reasonably priced and as thorough as any I've received. They have all the images of my eyes from the first time I was there and could check my history to make sure my eyes were healthy. My husband had such a positive experience with LensCrafters in South Reno, NV the year prior - it was a no brainer for me to try them out for my own eye exam. (Refer to my 7/21/2014 post for my husband's experience). Rachel performed my pre-examination. She was so sweet and patient (especially with the air gust in the eye machine). She was so sensitive to my fear of things near my eyes and was patient during the entire eye exam. Superb customer service - she was an all around delight. Dr. Reed was my ophthalmologist. I remember her assisting my husband; she is so AMAZING!!~! She too, was so sensitive to my fear of things near my eyes and patient during the whole exam. I am generally nervous about the exam because of the pressure of distinguishing the clearer letters- she was encouraging and was super funny during the entire exam. Sierra was an angel! I am in no way, shape, or form anything close to being an expert in eye ware. I do not have that sense of "style" so to speak and have no idea what the heck looks flattering for my face. Sierra asked me what I liked, what I didn't like, and ran with it. She and I toured the entire store looking at virtually every pair that may "interest" me while still looking good on my face type. She stayed with me the entire time and gave me pointers to ensure I know what to look for. And she explained why eyeglasses looked good or bad (as I stated before - I have no idea what I am doing when shopping for glasses). She and Stephanie collaborated together and worked AMAZINGLY alongside each other helping me (lucky me - I ended up with two optical experts) assisting me through this confusing and daunting process. They found and amazing pair for me; we got a winner! Stephanie saw me last and was so informative and sweet! She helped me get the best deal possible with my insurance and accepted an additional coupon I had for my eye glasses. She is extremely knowledgeable about frames types and styles for my face, also explaining why certain glasses fit and why others did not. She also took time to explain different types of lenses and how to tell what type of lens I have by looking at it a certain way in the light. While Sierra ultimately found the perfect pair of glasses for me and sold me on the idea - Stephanie closed the deal. I did have to wait for my lenses to come in (they did not have my at their store) it was well worth the wait! When picked up my new glasses, Stephanie and Sierra were there to ensure they fit perfectly, ensured I was completely satisfied with them and gave me pointers as to care for them (thank goodness because I am guilty of leaving my glasses in the car. Oops!) I am absolutely beyond relief and excited about the experience I had at LenseCrafters. I have been getting glasses for the past 20 years. Over the course of my visits, I have never felt so cared for. While I feel in most cases I feel I am floating aimlessly in a sea of confusion looking at frames, these ladies at LensCrafter in South Reno, NV were the life preserver I needed. I desperately needed a new pair of glasses (which I learned my old glasses were actually causing more harm than good due my astigmatism and the rimless frames moving around so much) - they were right there like a beacon helping me. I waited almost 3 weeks for my appointment which is fine, I called a couple different places and it seemed to be a longer wait than usual for everywhere to get an appointment. I arrived early as this was my first time using a new eye doctor in my whole life, they told me to browse the selection of glasses which was nice, until she asked if I had filled out paperwork online, I had not and had tried to call them to let them know the emailed link was not working to fill out the paperwork, I never received a call back, she then rushed me through the process of paperwork while no one seemed to know what they were doing around her. I then waited to have an assistant take me back, around 20 minuets, she was pleasant and quick , I was again put in a waiting area to be put in the room to see the actual doctor, that was for around 25 minuets, was put in a room and spent 45!! minuets waiting for the doctor to come in. She was pleasant as well, I just couldn't believe that it would take that long. I had to pick up my daughter from daycare so I scheduled about 2 and a half hours out for the appointment giving myself plenty of time, so I thought. I had to rush the doctor out of the appointment and leave without ordering a single pair or contacts or glasses, because no matter how many times I had told everyone that asked that I have worn contacts before no one seemed to retain that information or care for that matter. I have called and left voicemails 4 times in the last 3 and a half weeks and have not had a call back at all. I just want my records transferred to my doctor I've always used, as I have no faith in this location to do the right thing. read more

I brought in my prescription from the VA, it was no problem at all. My wife selected frames for me we picked sunglasses and progressive frames. We then sat down with Erica who is an Optometric Assistant. She was extremely helpful, cheerful, never rushed us, explained everything throughly. My sunglasses were ready in 1/2 hr. I was told that my progressive lenses would need to be ordered and that they would arrive in 1 to 2 weeks. Less than a week later I stopped in, was greeted by Erica who inquired my need. My sunglasses need adjusting and a different nose pad. This was taken care of within minutes. Erica told me she would check to see if my progressive lenses came in. They had just arrived that day and had not been unpacked yet. Erica found my lenses and took them to the specialist who cuts them, 20 min later I was walking out with adjusted sunglasses and new progressives! I would give Erica 10 stars! My appointment was scheduled for 3:45 and I wasn't seen by the assistant for testing until 4:20, 35 minutes later!This was far too long of a wait and their patients time should be a consideration. I could have left my office later and worked. They schedule appointments too close together. The appointment reminders sent to patients should state who you will be seeing by including the drs name. I was shocked to find out (after my pretesting) I was seeing a different dr after I had scheduled my appointment a year ago with Dr Shane herself! give your patients enough time to decide or change their appointment to a different dr if they prefer. Recommend that you call before your appointment to see if they are running on time. Not going back. I sent my complaint to them and they blamed ME for arriving early before my appointment time! The woman who handled my purchase was outstanding. She quickly found the type of frames that I was looking for, pulled up my records from the other store, and then quickly processed my order. My husband and I were just in there and the blonde female worker was very rude and went and got her male Co worker to talk to us and seemed like they were trying to get us to leave and when we did I heard her say thank-you to the male worker.
