Terrible experience! One of the women working kept talking about a patient stinking that was still back in an exam room. There were several other patients in the front of the store while she was making rude comments. Then "Chris" insisted that he could not take the hardest coating available off of the bill, which was $226. I have insurance and was more than willing to pay the added fee for normal scratch resistance and the blue light protection for computer use. But $226 extra for the hardest coating available was not necessary for my 17 year old son, who wears his contacts 95% of the time. Also, if you are a State of Illinois employee Target does not charge extra for the contact fitting, you only pay your $30 copay, LensCrafters also charged me an extra $55 for that. The entire visit I felt like I was dealing with an aggressive car salesman!!! read more

Went in yesterday with glasses I had ordered off lenscrafters.com. 350$ pair of ray bans that I paid cash for with no insurance. Lens and frames . Well the lens were too thick for the frames so I wanted a simple exchange. Apparently I could not be found " in the system " and I needed to ship them back for a refund . "I " needed to not them the pheasants getting paid for this by the way. He also say they are 2 different companies and he couldn't do anything. Needless to say do your homework and find a eye care place . The owner also only responds to positive reviews so that should say everything you know about the guy read more

DISGUSTED. DISAPPOINTED. Went to this location only to be told their system had been down for DAYS.... and couldn't take our money so that we could get new frames/lenses for my son who broke his. We left disappointed. The next Thursday, sales person calls back to tell us to pay that day to "Get in Line" because it's going to take 2 WEEKS!!! I've been a LOYAL CLIENT. This will be my last order. Going to EyeMart Express. At least they have a 4.5 review! read more

I'll be spending my money elsewhere on a new pair of glasses. Stopped by this morning and they were so busy that I was never even greeted let alone helped. Went back in at 6:00pm (their online hours said that they are open until 7:00pm), while one lady rudely asked what I needed, another frantically went and locked the door behind me so no one else could come in. They told me I could take a quick look around. No thanks!!! Change your hours online! No wonder this location has so many bad reviews! read more

Picked up my new glasses this a.m., drove to a meeting & to my surprise, realized that I couldn't see! I had to get right upon a sign before I could read it, oncoming cars were blurry, etc. I took them right back. The guy at the front was still in training but very nice & cooperative - that's why I gave them two stars, otherwise they would have got only one. Another man explained that "these lenses are flatter, so when she turns her head it will seem blurry." Really? So, for the rest of my life I can't turn my head? How silly. Then the guy came back & told me that these were "progressives", meaning that they were bifocals without a line. I never ordered bifocals, in fact made it clear that I didn't want them. Besides, when you're driving, you're not looking out of the bottoms of the lenses, you're looking thru the tops which are for distance. "Well, wear them around for a few days" -- WHAT? I'd have 20 wrecks! These lenses were seriously out of focus. Never did they offer another eye test with another doctor. Apparently they'd all been thru this before. Finally I just said, "Look, let's just end this. I'll give you the glasses back & you give me my money back." Which they did, very politely, without a murmur, for which I was grateful but still wondered why no one seemed at all surprised by this & didn't try to make it right. (Or didn't know how.) Anyway, it's all over now & I guess the lesson is an old one: You get what you pay for. read more

I have worn eyeglasses since I was in the 2nd grade and am currently 69 years old. I have never had such poor quality lenses as the last two pair I purchased at LensCrafters. My current problem relates to the UV coating the optician recommenced I add at an additional cost. The lenses that I purchased approximately 18 months ago are starting to shed the UV coating creating blotches on my lens so I no longer have clear lenses. The manager at the Springfield store says this cannot be repaired and the only solution is for me to purchase another set of lenses. The optician who sold me these lenses failed tell me that the addition of the UV coating would shorten the life of my lenses. I would NOT recommend this business to any consumer. read more

My daughter is an ICU nurse and her glasses broke. Went to Lens Crafters and their system has been down for 2 days so she can't get glasses until they can approve our insurance! We have been customers for years and it is not the same place we it used to be! We are in a desperate situation and no one seems to care! Guess we need to check out other options!! read more

I waited on 3 people to touch my glasses today to fix them. They are about 6 months old, $350 pair of glasses. They are trying to fix the fishing line that holds a lens in. They scratched the hell out of my lens doing it and expected ME to pay a deductible...HA! read more

Bought glasses and lenses that were extremely expensive and got the lenses that turn dark when outside. Transitions. Anyway less that a year the coating has started to come off and now it looks like crap and totally doesn't work in spots. read more

Go with your calculator! We had a very unrewarding experience today. Lens crafters had the only pair that fit my son- we tried several other glasses stores. Our representative, Amber, didn't smile once. Kept asking me if we wanted the same lenses we had before- we'd never purchased glasses from lens crafters for my son before. Also, we kept saying we wanted the inexpensive lenses because these are back ups to contacts. More expensive lenses kept populating on the computer. No apologies and no pleasantries. Next pair will be purchased elsewhere read more
