No animals were allowed, although my dog would have loved it. I get it, but it would be more convincing if there wasn't some huge plant next door. For a the path was well maintained though, and small areas off the path you could get to without injury.

We took the Chasm trail but the trail off it to the chasm itself was closed for repairs. Hit the Summit trail and didn't see an overlook at the top, just an ugly concrete water tower. My now my knee was bothering me as I am not a spring chicken, so we went back down to the parking lot. Looked at the map and saw it was quite a ways beyond the water tower to the lookout. I probably could have made it to the outlook and back if I hadn't gone off on the chasm trail. Maybe this is a better site for younger folks, though they did have reading glasses at the kiosk for older folks like me, which I've never seen anywhere before and which, along with clearly marked trails, got them a second star.

The 3.3 mile trail was pretty easy and took me an hour to complete. When I came at 3:30 on a Thursday there were only 2 cars in the parking lot. When I left at 4:30 there were 7 cars at the trailhead. Nice place. I was staying at the minuteman campground and it was only a 5 minute drive from there.

From two scenic views, skyscrapers in Boston can be seen as long as it's a clear day. This is a great place to take a brisk hike or spend half a day wandering the trails! This is how "accidents/tragedies" happen! The path up was pretty straight forward...I went straight until I hit the top. There are on markers, that I could see. But you can follow other hikers up and back down if you get lost. Love the workout, but next time I'm bring BottleS of bug sprays because they just refuse to leave you alone!

Exit the development and there is a paved path running west towards Nashoba Regional High School. Neither is particularly ambitious and plant life is typical for the area. Lovely, short forest trails with the tallest, densest collection of rhododendrons we've ever seen…read more Natural growth of the trees creates canopies and archways you walk under on the mostly-flat dirt trails. Mucky in shady spots, roots and rocks pop up along the path, so watch your step. The rhododendrons bloom in July, and the state park seems to keep an updated blog so you can time your visit. It is a half-mile loop trail, Luxury porta-potties (mini cabins) for convenient pit-toilets. A few picnic tables in this very woodsy area. Carry-in, carry-out trash on the premises.

Tripps Pond is a nice little space to spend some time outdoors... I had the opportunity to do so…read morewhile visiting friends this past weekend! Located on River Street, Hog Brook runs into the pond which in turn becomes the Assabet River. There are paths and trails on each side of the pond which are great for a stroll or a change of pace but certainly aren't built for lengthy hikes of any sort. One path travels through the woods over a couple small bridges and ends on a small peninsula at the pond's edge. The other side of the pond is well manicured with wide walking paths and multiple benches and picnic tables. When I was here, a few dedicated Hudson families were cleaning up the park and clearing away fallen trees and branches in anticipation of Earth Day! Plenty of space to soak in the early spring sun. There is a bench dedicated to George Chiasson (at one time a park commissioner who firmly supported the return of an annual fishing derby at the pond). The event is so aptly named the "George Chiasson Memorial Trout Fishing Derby". Sounds like the pond is stocked with trout for the event with a single tagged fish that if not caught on the day of the event, remains part of a prized contest until such day that some lucky person reels it in! The flowers are starting to bloom and the buds starting to emerge from the trees. Looks like the local boy and girl scout troops dedicate work and time to the park. There is a weeping willow and white birch tree there with plaques from the groups. I found a "#kindnessrocks" rock nearby to a bench in the park, a welcome message during my visit. A nice place to breathe in the fresh air and come together with the residents of Hudson.
