Dr. Isaac Amon delivered an exceptional presentation, providing compelling analysis, historical context, and valuable insights. The Central Library staff should be commended for organizing and hosting such a well-executed and impactful event. The lecture introduced historical facts, statistics, and perspectives that were not part of my academic experience, either in school or college. It was an enlightening and thought-provoking experience that reinforced the importance of continuous learning and a deeper understanding of our shared history.

This amazing library is located in the heart of downtown and was built by renowned Mexican architect, Ricardo Legorreta. The building is absolutely stunning and has actually been featured in Hollywood movies. If you love art as much as I do you'll be happy to hear that they have a Chihuly inside the library, as well as other pieces of art by very popular artists. The San Antonio Central Library is so much more than a local library. Within the building, you can find other nonprofits that help support small businesses in our community, as well as numerous events they host almost daily. One of my favorite parts about the SA Central Library is their second-hand bookstore located in the basement. You can find some true gems in there, and all the money raised from sales goes back to the library. If you have children I highly recommend exploring their kids' section. My kid loves to play in that area and the staff there is always amazing! Last but not least, the library has its own parking lot and you can get up to three hours of free parking when visiting. You just have to validate your ticket at one of the kiosks located by the entrance.

In my previous years, the Cody Library was my usual spot, but since this one is close to where I live, I went here. It took less time to vote than it took to drive here! The whole experience was fast, easy, and free of stress. The folks helping us get settled were also polite and friendly, and they didn't make us feel rushed. I look forward to voting at the Maverick Library now!

Selection is decent in books, magazines, and DVDs. Even better are the seating areas, parking areas, and bathrooms, which are all generous in size and well kept. They just installed solar paneling in the car park area which means there will be covered parking as well. On top of that, they're next to the Bonnie Conner park, perfect for a stroll after some reading time. Finally as of December 2024 you can also get a free upgrade of your boring old library card to one of their new, cooler looking ones!

This public library is much smaller than other branches around the city, but the true gem is their newly renovated kids section. The kids area has a huge selection of books, as well as board games for the kids, computers and other toys for them to play with. There are also plenty of couches around the kids area, which makes it perfect for parents to take a break while the kids explore the library. Since this is a smaller library their book selection is not as complete as others, but regardless it is a great option if you live in this area. Besides the kid section, there's also a teenager area on the opposite side of the library and private rooms you can use for coworking sessions. Overall, a great experience and will definitely be coming back to check out one of their free classes.

My very first experience with the San Antonio library system and I'm both happy and angry about it…read more I'm taking an 8-week undergrad Business class online and would rather have an actual text book; so I jumped online to rent one. The Cortez branch didn't have it so I went through the inter-library system to have it sent in. I didn't realize the system defaults to a delivery date of February 2025! Their online reps couldn't figure out how to modify or cancel my reservation. They told me to reserve another with a more respectable date and call the next day and speak with someone to cancel the February reservation. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and tried to help, but she couldn't figure it out either. After 45 minutes and transferring me to someone else who couldn't figure it out, I was told they'd reach someone named Anna and then they'd call me back. While I'm happy with the pleasant demeanor from the staff, they didn't follow up with me. Instead, they canceled both of my reservations without warning. If they didn't have the book (despite it being available to reservation), best practice would have been to just call and explain that. They turned a decent situation into a bad one pretty quickly and it could have been avoided.

There are a ton of plants all over so the outside is brought in- my favorite. The children's section is behind doors to the main library where kids can play and read. The library also has a lovely shaded courtyard where you can read. Behind the library is a very large playground. It was so nice and clean and beautiful- there were restrooms, too. I will definitely be back with my daughter- this leaves a lot to be desired from my local library.
