Had to copy my review again because YELP moved it to not recommended. I will not be using Yelp again.

I sometimes got the impression that the doctor had more important things to do than focus on my issue, which wasn't great. My main complaint is about how they handle billing and insurance - my insurance wouldn't cover some standard lab tests that Dr. Copeland ordered and I got billed $700 from Quest labs. The insurance company requested a note proving medical necessity in order to cover the bill, and Dr. Copeland and his office were very reluctant to send it, saying that "if they're not gonna cover it, then they're not gonna cover it." I practically had to beg them to do this small thing that most doctors offices will do automatically. I've never had a doctor so reluctant to work with insurance to help me avoid paying a large bill for something that should be covered. So, while the medical care is fine, I won't be going back to Dr. Copeland.

Throughout my pregnancy she was sure to acknowledge all of my concerns, addressed them throughly, and supported my birth plan. There can be times the office is busy and you have to wait a bit. (Especially if she's on call for labor and delivery.) But I can say there are times you are seen within 15 minutes of arriving for your appointment. It really just depends on the day. Highly recommend!

It has been hard finding an OB-GYN in the area who accepts my insurance, but I had heard good…read morethings about Dr. Katrina Baker. Since we were going through IVF, I wanted to establish care with an OB before getting pregnant. My first appointment was canceled after I had already waited 45 minutes because the doctor had to deliver a baby. I completely understood--babies don't wait, and that's part of the job. We rescheduled for the following week. A few days later, that appointment was canceled too. On the third appointment, I was finally seen, but only by the nurse. We discussed my IVF process and my plans to continue care there during pregnancy. Last week was supposed to be my first appointment with Dr. Baker, but again I only saw the nurse and had an ultrasound. They scheduled me to finally see the doctor today at 4:20 p.m. They also explained that because I'm due in January, they wanted me to start a payment plan of $388 per month for the next six months. My husband and I were hesitant because we still hadn't even met the doctor, and we were already starting to question whether this was the right office for us. The office itself also wasn't a great experience. It's very small, the waiting room has about a dozen chairs packed closely together, and every visit has felt hot, humid, and stuffy. They have a fan running, but it still feels uncomfortable. Today's appointment was the final straw. I arrived at 4:10 to check in for my 4:20 appointment. The receptionist tried to charge me a $20 copay, even though I reached my out-of-pocket maximum months ago because of IVF. I explained that I hit my out of pocket max months ago, but she tried to tell me I was wrong. She just told me she will bill me next apt if I owe anything. The waiting room was completely full. I wasn't called back until around 5:15, when a nurse hot my blood pressure and then sent me back to the waiting room. Around 5:25 I was finally taken to an exam room, where I was told they planned to do culture testing. Then I waited another 30 minutes. By 5:55, with the office closing at 6:00, I honestly thought they had forgotten about me. I walked out to ask what was going on because I had been sitting in the exam room for half an hour and a total of 1 hr and 35 min waiting. I explained that all I really needed was clearance for a dental appointment and didn't want to wait any longer for the culture testing. The nurse told me there was one patient ahead of me and said they had been busy with ultrasounds that day. I reminded her that my appointment had been at 4:20. When I asked how much longer it would be, she said she didn't know--maybe another 10 minutes. Meanwhile, I could see the doctor in her office doing paperwork. They said I had to do the culture test to get clearance for the dentist. At that point I decided to leave. Before leaving, I spoke with the receptionist, who seemed genuinely surprised that I had never seen the doctor. I asked her not to bill my insurance since I was never actually seen by the physician. What disappointed me most wasn't just the long wait--it was the complete lack of communication or apology. After waiting nearly 1 hour and 45 minutes, no one acknowledged the delay, explained what was happening, or apologized for my time. Instead, I was expected to continue waiting indefinitely. I understand that OB-GYN offices have emergencies and unexpected deliveries. I was completely understanding the first time my appointment was canceled. But after multiple cancellations, never actually meeting the doctor despite several appointments, and then spending nearly two hours in the office without being seen, I no longer feel confident receiving my prenatal care here. If routine office appointments are this difficult to manage, it makes me question how organized the practice would be when it comes time for labor and delivery. I wish I had trusted my gut after the first couple of canceled appointments. I would give 0 stars if I could.

The last visit the Dr. told me that it was confirmed non viable pregnancy, a chemical pregnancy. She asked if I wanted to take the pill to make the process go faster, that I'm going to miss carry soon once my body realizes theres no baby. I said it's ok I'll just do it naturally and weeks go by and I still ended up being pregnant so I went to an actual OB where they confirmed my pregnancy. This Dr. almost made me kill my baby! Whom is now 1 and healthy. It's been almost 2 years since than so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and scheduled a "ANUAL EXAM" which says online that includes all these task and test with physical and nurse says so your just here for pap smear. I answered I'm here for a an exam because I am having 2 periods a month and clots in my period along with really bad lower back pain and pelvis pain that I don't feel too well. So she asked are you ok with ultrasound and I said yeah. Dr. came in piked my finger said iron levels were 2.7 which is normal accordingly to her. All she said was they only take blood test for HIV and I asked well are you going to do a pelvic exam ? check my ovaries? My fallopian tubes ? my uterus ? She said ok lay back and she put her fingers inside me said you feel no pain then your ok just take ibrophen to lighten the bleeding and for pain. I told her I'm not taking birth control no medications nothing she said it's just hormonal imbalance. Which how would she know that without doing any blood test or any test. She did a pap test and said it might not be accurate cause I'm bleeding. So basically I went for no damn reason and just wasted my time. Gave me a bag of condoms and plan be and said you can go now. This place is very unprofessional and false advertisement.

So, I have 100 reasons not to come here but I'll just summarize for you…read more 1 - Your first visit they'll require you to change your insurance to Blue Shield and make you stay at the office on hold until the change is complete and confirmed - about 3 hours. 2 - They make you sign a paper saying you'll only go to Palmdale regional hospital for care if you need emergency care or labor and delivery, BECAUSE THEY NO LONGER HAVE PRIVILEGES AT AV HOSPITAL. If that isn't a sign of how shitty of people they are idk what is. 3 - You can't bring your kid/kids , they'll send you home or cancel your appointment. (It's a fucking obgyn - they birth babies and refuse to see you if you bring your children) & you can't bring your husband/man/partner either (post-Covid) 4 - The ultrasound tech will LOSE HER SHIT if you even text your husband/partner during the ultrasound. She kicked me out because I was texting my husband telling him I couldn't call him in there (per her request) and she lost it and kicked me out. 5 - The nurses and doctors park by the doors so you're forced to park all the way towards the back and walk pregnant af to the front door. 6 - They overbook LIKE CRAZY , appointments take 3-4 hours just for a simple check. The doctors are rushed and you barely see them for 3 minutes at most. 7 - the young nurses are beyond rude and disrespectful. They're unkind and judgy. They treat you like shit and barely even say hello when you walk in. 8 - Dr Sammy Farid is never there so if you have him as your doctor, good luck you'll never meet him. He'll make sure he's there to deliver your baby though , he wants the $$$$.

They are unapologetic and the office manager does not care to hear your complaint neither does the front office. I was fortunate enough to make friends with one staff member who would help get my appointment moving along. Her name was virginia . She was the only one that knew the meaning of customer service in that office. The way they run in that office is very sketchy. I work in healthcare myself so I am surprised they have been able to operate the way they do. From triaging you in a cluttered closet supply room . Yes I said CLOSET SUPPLY ROOM to having no seating available for pregnant women that they end up waiting outside on the floor in the hallway. The way this office runs is shocking. I hated that whenever I was seen . I had to ask the doctor for my results of test, exams etc. The doctors are running around like chickens without a head. I was in fear of my prenatal care through out my pregnancy . Luckily I delivered just fine. One thing I should mention is Dr.Berman is very cold. He rolled his eyes at me and made faces as I was crying my eyes out during an all natural epidural free delivery. He's very desensitized and cold. I wish I would have seen Dr.Ngo.
