I wanted to "shop local" due to the pandemic ruining everyone's business so I chose Leon's Flooring. Good interaction with Mike (Owner) during the sales process, but lots of add-on's from the base price of the flooring advertised and discussed until the final installed sq. foot price. Flooring $3.00/sq. foot, total price $10.00/sq. foot. hey, just advertise the TOTAL installed sq. foot price, don't wing it when I come in. Secondly, Mike tried to sell me something he has extra stock of from other jobs, not what I asked for. Mike also told me that the lead time for the stuff I want is wayyyyyyyyyyyy out there so I'll buy the stock left over from the other job, discounted but not what I asked for, can't blame him for pushing this I guess. Now, if you want all of your floor vents filled with old padding, old staples and chards from the new carpet cutting, call Leon's, they didn't cover the vents and all the stuff that ripped off the old tear out went directly into the vents, same with the wood chards they trimmed off my wood floor installation, how much of it went way DOWN the vents that I can't see of vacuum out with my stick vac., not good. I had over $20,000 of flooring put in my house and when the carpet installer finished and asked me to sign off and pay the last payment, I asked him when he was going to vacuum the place and he said, we don't vacuum after installation, shocking to say the least. I said I don't own a vacuum and he recommended the $89 Walmart vacuum and specifically told me to use the HIGHEST setting to pick up the BIG chunks. So, I roll over to Walmart and buy the $139 (cheapest one they had) vacuum and start three levels of vacuuming, 4 hours worth and filled the vacuum 13 times with carper chunks, chards and staples, not really what I had in mind when I went shopping for new carpet. Same thing with the wood floor installation, left the place a mess and the wood chards/trimmings were in EVERY floor vent. The product is exceptional but Mike does not make the Mohawk flooring and med. prices carpet, he just installs it and he failed at the cleanup, the end-all installation was good but holy moly what a mess when they left. I'm not telling you to not go to Leon's, I am just telling you my experience. Mike did pay me for the unnecessary vacuum I had to buy but I spent four hours cleaning up after them and there is still wood chards in my duct-work and vents. read more

The owner / manager of this store is dishonest. We paid $120 deposit to bring home carpet samples. We were told at the time we could keep the samples for as long as we like and would receive a full refund when we returned the samples. I tried to return the samples today but was told it was too late to receive a refund. According to their "policy" we had TWO days to return the sample to receive the refund. They never mentioned any policy at the time, nor did they ever ask us to return samples otherwise our deposit would be lost. Instead, I was insulted by the store owner/manager today because to him it was 'common sense'. I advise you to stay away from this store! read more

Leon's Flooring Outlet - A custom grill I had made came up missing after they applied carpet to my hallway closet - Flooring Near Me - Livonia, Michigan

We would give Leon's Flooring a Negative 5 Rating if possible. They promised a robust and durable flooring that would compare in scratch resistance and dent resistance to the (20) year old Pergo Flooring that they removed. They missed their promises by a mile. I had installed the Pergo Flooring (20) years ago myself and without any scratches or dents in that entire time period which survived (4) children and (3) dogs. Leon's Flooring recommended, specified and installed this Leon's Flooring after paying them $7210 to do the job. This Leon's Flooring is an extremely low-quality substandard product which came at a high-end price. It is impossible to understand how any reputable company could even carry this product much-less recommend and specify it. The Flooring after only a year of installation has permanent dents under kitchen chairs with plastic/felt protection, severe scratching under the couch sections that have all PLASTIC feet, and a very long scratch that occurred when Leon's Flooring personnel themselves slid the china cabinet back into place. A small example is shown in the below pics. These things were unheard of with my DIY Pergo Flooring. Leon's Flooring has refused to resolve this very troubling situation. We are currently in the process of finding an independent flooring inspector to make a comparison between the low-quality substandard Leon's Flooring and the high-quality Pergo Flooring they removed. This is necessary for next steps. Also be very wary of the "Installation Manager" Mike Hamieh who parades as the self-proclaimed "Owner". He is an arrogant, obscene, very quick to anger phony. He will attempt to intimidate and belittle you which did not sit well with us. We are told the real owner is named "Sue" but she has refused to communicate with us at all about our situation after many, many communication attempts. Our very big complaint with Leon's Flooring is the total MISREPRESENTATIONbetween what we were promised/told and what they actually delivered. We will keep you posted on any progress. Belated review from service in 9/2018. We had another local company (that was rated highly, in Livonia) install Coretek flooring. The saleswoman excellent, the installer a nightmare! After the 3rd attempt at "fixing" his issues we went to Leon's as we were also getting carpet in the rest of the house. Brian came out to measure carpet, had special order carpet and 2 installers at the house within 3 days. Mustafa and a partner (can't remember name, sorry) did a great job given that they had to butt up to the jacked up Coretek flooring from other company. I decided to add more Coretek to a doorwall entrance and Brian had a Coretek installer (Anthony) out within 2 days. Only hiccup was he didn't bring all the equipment needed for the job at that time so he had to come back. Great job once completed. We needed some specific transition pieces for the project that were ordered by Mike (owner)and he paid for the installation for our delay in the project completion! Office staff Amy & Lisa were awesome and checked on us throughout the project to assure our satisfaction. Would use them again in a minute! Thanks!! read more

We received samples on a Saturday from Leon's showroom with a home review and request for quote the following Friday. The room we were looking to have the installation done on is small, 170 ft2. I had another company come and quote and showed them the samples for color likeness, quality..., this salesman said that one of the samples, that we really liked, was an inferior product. Leon's came and quoted the product samples that Friday and the product that we liked was the cheapest of the 3 samples. I expressed their competitors view to him about it being inferior so he called the manufacturers salesman for his input. He said it was "the best innovation in the industry in 40+ years". This is where things changed... I wanted to book the installation but Mike went silent for a couple of days until he got back to me on Monday saying they could do it the next day, Tuesday. Later that Monday he called and said that the other sales person at Leon's sold all but a little bit of the carpet and he could no longer honor that price as he would have to order more and that he quoted it originally "at a very competitive price". However, he could install the other samples at the quoted prices the next day. I stated my disappointment and said that I would discuss it w/ my wife. She went from excited to mad like me and that was the end of that with Leon's. I never received another phone call or any form of communication from them since. The competitor contacts me almost daily. Bait and switch or just a really bad way to conduct business?, either way not someone I would ever work with. The BBB may be interested, we'll see. read more

I went to Leon's looking for carpet for 2 bedrooms. I was interested in getting a remnant and needed quick installation. Mike helped me find a remnant that would cover both rooms. He was very helpful and friendly. The girl behind the counter was also very helpful. I had the carpet installed first thing the next morning. A crew of 3 came over. They tore out the old carpeting and installed the new quickly and it looks beautiful!! They even did the one closet that is over the stairs so it's raised up and and slanted. I wasn't expecting it to be done but was so pleased it was. My family and I are so happy with the job they did. We will definitely return in the future if the need arises. read more

I witnessed first hand while in the store that Mike is not respectful to his women customers. I was in the store recently when a lady came in with a complaint, he kept insisting that they discuss the matter in private, all she wanted was a refund for work that had not even begun yet. He seemed very disrespectful towards her until she called her husband on speaker phone. His tone then completely changed. After the phone call, he was still apprehensive about refunding her money for work that had not even been started yet. It appeared to be over a scheduling discrepancy, which as a personal business owner, I would never argue with a customer about. At that point I had seen enough and left. It was a horrible display of customer service on a matter that could have easily been cleared up by admission of a possible communication error. I recommend going somewhere with better customer service for your money. read more

Overall, the experience with Leon's was very good, and the quality of the workmanship, speed of installation, and the look of the new floor) make this experience more than satisfactory. One thing I discovered by price comparison with other companies is that many require full payment for the flooring job UP FRONT, before anything has been done. Mike Hamieh, with whom we met at the Leon's Livonia office, kept in touch with us after doing the measurement, and was very patient since we had a 10 day vacation planned after initial contact. He also provided a significant discount on the final cost in order to attract our business, and the cost was both competitive and, ultimately, irresistible. Once we committed and paid half the cost as deposit, the time for the scheduled job was 3 weeks (by our choice, after the 4th of July), and the job took only 2 full days and part of a third (for final installation of moldings and touch-ups). I had been dreading the installation disruption by workers, dust and grime, and lack of access to several appliances. In fact, my dread was unnecessary: only two workmen were needed, and they performed like they were on the mens doubles Olympic flooring team! Shawket and Moses removed the old flooring removed to the garage within 3 hours; by the end of day 1, nearly half of the new flooring was installed. As for appliance removal, the experienced team simply worked around them, then put them back in place. As I said above, for day three there were the fine points and final cleanup. And I should mention Shawket's wizardry with the electric jigsaw: the new flooring raised the fridge enough to prevent it from sliding into its previous spot under some shelves, but Shawket skillfully removed about 1/4 inch of skirting, as a matter of course for him, and the fridge now fits in better than before. While contact with the Leon's office was usually without problem, our initial contact was disappointing as the company rep to whom we initially spoke and with whom we had made an appointment was not even at the office when we arrived, and when he did arrive, claimed he had no appointment with us. Fortunately, Mike was on the scene, and we dealt with him exclusively. However, that initial impression pushed us toward comparison shopping, and then eventually, we found Leon's to be the best deal, so we overlooked that first misunderstanding. In some follow-up calls, staff seemed challenged to find our folder, but as I said, we tried the firm's patience by the vacation delay. I wish, though, that communication had been a bit clearer about some details of the contract: for example, while we paid for the appliances to be moved and put back, the impression I had (erroneous) was that "moved" meant "removed", as in placed in the garage while the job was being done. Clearly, I misunderstood completely, but a description of the process beforehand would have helpful. Also, we paid quite reasonably for removal of the old laminate flooring to be -haul(ed) away to Leon's Flooring Dumpster- (as per the contract). With the mention of a dumpster, I assumed (again, erroneously) that one would appear in our driveway, but instead, the two workmen literally hauled everything away, in a big load at the end of each day in the back of their truck. Given the somewhat inexplicable dumpster mentioned in the contract (hauled away would have sufficed), a bit more clarity would have been useful. Given the size of the project, these qualms are minor, especially when one considers their overall desire to organize the job to the customers satisfaction, and the extremely fair terms for completion and payment. We definitely would use Leon's again (we even have an other job in mind), all the more so since I have the impression that Leon's is one of those perhaps increasingly rare businesses that actually does the work it says it will, with skill, excellent results and the customers in mind. read more

We had a flood and had a difficult time finding honest pricing and quality carpet. I found Leon's Flooring Outlet on Home Advisor and our search for a carpet company ended there. I left my name and telephone number for Leon's Flooring and Mike immediately responded. We set up an appointment for that day and Mike resolved all of our issues. The installation went seamlessly and the workmanship was exceptional! Our carpeting looks beautiful, and the way they carpeted our stairs around the spindles far exceeded our very high expectations. We had chosen a beautiful plush carpet. Cost $1700 for one room. I'm warning you, DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. My room is 19 1/2 ft by 20 1/2. Almost square. I was told the job would take 1.5 hours, it took six hours. When said and done, a visible seam is seen. I've had carpet installed five times, different rooms in my home. First time a visible seam appeared. Must of happened with the company many times, the disclosure on the back of the receipt, lists every mistake that can be made when installing carpet, so they will not be responsible. Taken to court/mediation. Mike (so called manager) Set there and lied. through his teeth. (forty minutes worth)! Next step, going before a judge. Hope he'll have some common since. Update: After posting the review, Owner, Mike called me and offered me $200 to remove the post. When I told him I preferred people to know the truth rather than paying for silence, He THREATENED me. He told me "I know all your personal information and where you live and will post it all online and do what I want with it." He told me if I posted this it will ruin his reputation, so he will ruin mine by lying about me and posting my personal information. PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELVES. I'm sure he will comment on this, and that's fine-the least of my worries. I called and made a police report. Original Review: Terrible customer service, disorganization, and lack of communication is what we received from Leon's Flooring. They couldn't finish our project. After having our basement flooded, DKI Great Lakes recommended that we use Leon's Flooring for our flooring replacement. With great reviews on google, we thought this would go smoothly. But it sure didn't. After waiting a few weeks for the flooring to be ordered, we were called and told that the installer would be at our home Thurs, Fri, and Sat. They called back the next day and asked for Tues, Weds, Thurs, and said someone would need to be home on the last day to ensure that the work looked good. This involved taking time off work. Then we are told the installer is sick, so now Weds, Thurs, Fri. Okay, annoying but doable. Wednesday I get a call from Leon's asking if the work has been completed. Confusing, because shouldn't they know if they completed the work? I come home and see that they did the main level of the basement but not the stairs. I tell Lisa this. Lisa says she will look into it. I ask what needs looking into because she had said they would be installing over 3 days so I'm assuming they're coming back to finish. Lisa said she's going to have to talk to someone about it. I ask if there's a problem, and she won't give me a straight answer. So then no one shows up or calls on Thursday. Thursday night, my husband calls and speaks to Lisa who says she can't answer any questions but that Amy will be available soon and call him back. She never calls. I call 2 hours later and Lisa says Amy has left for the day and can't give me any answers. She couldn't say whether or not someone would be at our house Friday. I expressed my frustration about the lack of communication and no one showing up, and Lisa insists that Amy will come me Friday morning. No one called us. At this point, I contact the contractor who recommended and partners with them (DKI) and Ken contacts them to find out what is going on. Ken tells me that they didn't order enough flooring for the stairs. He admits that he hadn't put it in the original request but had told them that 2 weeks ago and that it had been added. He says the owner, Mike, will call me. Mike leaves a voicemail Saturday saying that the installer will finish the job this coming Friday. I call back and leave a voicemail confirming that someone will be home (staying home from work to ensure the work gets done). Thursday night, I call to confirm and speak to Lisa who says that no- now the installer is coming Saturday 10-5. I express frustration again about lack of communication and making changes to our schedule to accommodate them and then never being told anything. It's at this point that she blames Ken at DKI for not putting in the order. I tell her that I was made aware by Ken, but that doesn't have anything to do with her lack of communication and the disorganization of Leon's. So Saturday at 12:30, the installer arrives and asks where the flooring is!! We explain to him that we keep being rescheduled because they hadn't originally ordered the flooring that he was to bring and install. He calls the shop and tells us it wasn't ordered. What!? So he leaves. We call Leon's and finally get to speak to Amy, who says she will look into it. She later calls back and says she assumes 100% responsibility and the flooring still hasn't been ordered. We say okay, if you're saying that, then how about 100% free stairs. She says she will talk to the owner and contact us Monday first thing. No phone call. So I called Belleville Carpet Exchange. They came out TODAY and installed the new flooring and charged us let than Leon's had quoted. Think twice when working with this awful company. read more

Purchased 2 really nice remnants for a super price. Installers came, there was a problem with one of them not fitting the room. Mike fixed the problem and had a comparable carpet out to my house and installed within the hour. Didn't charge me a dime extra. Outstanding customer service!! read more
