Leo's was very good. I've had inauthentic Mexican food. This is not the place. My enchiladas were delicious. Additionally, the margaritas are pretty good. I don't drink them often but my cousin ordered one. So I thought - why not? We enjoyed our reunion and it was like time hadn't passed as we sat and talked about previous races we ran together and all the places we'd been. The service was great and the ambiance was not that typical Mexican American restaurant vibe. But it did have some of that going on. The food was not typical at all. Delicious! For a mid-afternoon, this restaurant was packed. Always a good sign, especially if not a typical meal time. There is plenty of seating and it's wonderfully decorated. As soon as we were seated the waiter was right there to take our order. I guess many are regulars and know what they want, but for us, we needed a few minutes to look over the menu. We shared a Margarita. It was a little sweeter than we are use to, but still very good. I ordered the taco salad with chicken which I enjoyed. Presented nicely and perfect size portion. Dessert was a must when flan is on the menu. The flan here is dense and deliciou, yet petite in size. Perfect portion size for 1 person and loved the whip cream that accompanied it. Service was overall good. Barely saw our waiter after he took our order, but they have lots of people assisting (bringing out food, clearing tables, etc). My food choices were great. I dined here with 3 friends who ordered various combo plates and all thought their food was just ok. I guess I ordered right and would recommend and return for the dishes I took pics of. read more

Went there yesterday. Wife ordered Chicken Enchiladas and I the Caldo de Res. The cheese sauce was the cheapest we ever experienced - they did better before. The Caldo de Res was more soup, not really hot and it seems they skimmed more and more on vegetables. All I can say to Leo's...do not cheat the people. There are better restaurants around, for example KIKis. No more for a while. Street vendors in Chihuahua make better food. read more

So it all started this weekend- I had been teaching back to back Pilates classes and then going to the gym to work me out and by the time I got home I was craving meat. Juicy, fork tender meat. Leo's came to mind but was a bit far and I was exhausted so I ordered delivery of carnitas from a place closer to my house- big mistake- the food was good but did not hit the spot. The craving kept growing g all week and I just went there on my way home from running errands and it was well worth it. The carnitas were perfectly seasoned and seared and fork tender. I ordered the chicken fajita quesadilla that came with sour cream and guacamole. The portion was ample especially for the moderate price...I highly recommend. My son ordered the chicken mole. It too was ample for the price but he did not car for the mole and the presentation could have been better. The beans were dried out and was served with the dried part from the side of the pot. Went to this place after probably 8 years I asked for the Chiles rellenos with separate sauce, the plate includes only beans, I tasted it and I'm glad I didn't get on the chiles it was a horrible flavor full of garlic it look like pumpkin gravy yikes! At the end they offered me a Sopaipilla "only One" and it was raw "cruda" I told the server, she brought another one and ... the same! You could even smell the flour! Leo's Mexican Food - Sopaipilla Cruda - Mexican Near Me - El Paso, Texas

I've heard a lot about Leo's. It often comes up in "best of" lists, and in lists of places that have been in business for a while, so I've been anxious to try it for a while. I went and ordered their house special combo which has a lot of stuff so that way I get to try a few things and get an idea of how things are there: enchilada, tamale, taco, chile relleno and chili verde, beans, rice and guacamole all for about $20. It came on a much smaller a plate than I expected. Everything was tiny. I guess it's the normal size plate for any of their combos but with more variety on it somehow squeezed together. It wasn't a disaster because it's still a lot of food that even a marathon eater would find more than filling. The beans were hot and tasty. Enchilada, tamale and chile relleno as I said tiny, utterly average. Relleno was more strips than whole Chile, I didn't detect much breading instead more heavily weighted towards the cheese. The taco tasted a bit strange. The rice was completely bland and without texture. The guacamole clearly was good without much in the way of filler but it tasted exactly like I would make at home and I'm not exactly that great with guac. The salsa also tasted almost exactly like what you might buy in a market in a clear plastic container. Chile verde was super disappointing it was just a few chunks of meat and potato on a lettuce leaf without any green salsa of any sort. At the end of the meal there was a strange marketing play where the bus boy was recommending at least twice to get the sopapillas, and then even the server before bringing the check tried to sell them. Maybe I should have figured this out from the location; right near a bunch of hotels, but this place really screamed tourist trap. read more

Leo's was such a great place for authentic Mexican food :) ! And it was so conveniently located within walking distance of my hotel :) ! I came here on a weeknight, was seated and was tended to and served right away :) ! The staff there greets and welcomes you there right when you walk in :) ! The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays :D ! I was given fresh chips and salsa right away to munch on while I waited for my main entree! The Horchata and Leo's taco salad with chicken were so fresh and delicious :) ! I was truly filled up and content :) ! I will definitely come back to Leo's the next time I visit the west side in El Paso :D ! read more

There are some things that make me upset about certain Mexican restaurants here. One of the big ones is when they list the same item several times and there are different prices with minimal variations in the order.. Here its the enchiladas. The enchiladas are 4 to a dish at 12.59. Three to a dish at 10.59. they are separately listed as red, cheese, green, cheese, chicken and sour cream. You cannot get chicken and sour cream. All charge an extra $1 for rice and beans. This is confusing and complicated for no reason. The extra for rice/ beans is a local trick. It was exhausting ordering and expensive. They tasted good but.... a waste of time and energy. The bill for a simple lunch for two was $35 plus tip. (only entrees) Cannot pay this for enchiladas and fell tricked. Only regulars who know the menu by heart are at peace with this ?. read more

I feel a little torn about this because I wanted to give them 5 Star but, I am not sure I should. Anyway... I was staying at the Red Roof Inn next door to the restaurant. I ordered over the phone. The lady who took the order was nice enough. Don't mention options - which is key for up-sales. When I ordered the food -I was hoping to be told "I recommend this..." it didn't happen. Servers should always be ready cause it gives the customer and other POV that might be really good. I ordered the Leo Combo. It was almost delicious. When I bit into the taco I could tell the oil was starting to turn rancid. Now, this happens. It shouldn't but does. Chef needs to get on the line cooks and test the oil and change it regularly. It's really off-putting to those who can pick up on it. The other problem was that when I was handed the TOGO bag - they didn't put in napkins or plastic ware - fork, spoon and knife. Now, you may think what's the problem? Well, the problem was they took a TOGO order and that is 101 when selling food to be enjoyed somewhere else. I had to return from the hotel I was at and by the time I got back the food was cold. I don't like warming food in a microwave when's it's in styrofoam. The guac was creamy! The roasted jalapeños side dish was also really good. The refrieds were delicious. The place looks fantastic! Really pretty inside. They also have an outdoor patio but don't think they allow dogs. Kinda dumb because people with dogs would patronize. I imagine the bathrooms are clean. They have a beautiful full bar. And there is plenty of parking. Check this place out and do a taste test with the oil. Hoping it is better for you. If you go through their menu online you need to know ALL THE PRICES ARE WRONG - not by a little but by quite a lot. I mentioned it to a server when I went to pick up my food and she told me that they have no control over that. Doesn't seem right. And her approach left a little to be desired - which I'm guessing had contributed to the 3-Star rating. The manager was very nice. She took the time to listen. I was only letting them know that maybe they should let people know the prices are off as it could create controversy. Anyhow, I am passing through so will not be returning. Very sorry to say that after today, I will never return to Leo's Mexican Food on Remcon. Remember the former enchilada plate with fresh, sliced lettuce, chopped tomatoes and grated cheese on top? Just as I as I did today, I always ask for chopped onions as well. The server repeated my order, including adding onions. What I got was sans toppings including no onions which was the one specific thing I mentioned. The server said they no longer use any garnish on their enchilada plates "Unless the customer asks for it". Buyer Beware. Ask for condiments! When we arrived we waited for about 20 minutes for a table. Drinks were good nice size for under $9 which I enjoyed! I ordered the fluntas and they had a nice crispness to them but the chicken Inside was completely dry. Also got to try their dessert and that was tasty as well. We were in El Paso for the week and we happened to find this restaurant and I am happy we did. The restaurant itself had a fun vibe and the decor was happy and colorful. I ordered the cheese enchiladas and they were absolutely delicious, probably the best enchiladas I've had in a long time. The service was also great! We were a big group (8 people) and a server was always checking in. We had a constant refill of the chips and salsa. It was really a great experience, I would definitely recommend this place to others. Also, as someone from the DC area and who spends a lot of time in NYC, the prices here were amazing. When I saw baked enchiladas on the menu, I knew I had to try this place. Unfortunately they're nowhere near the quality and flavor of the baked enchiladas we had back in the Midwest. However they are better than the non-baked variety sold at most places. The red enchilada sauce seems like it gained its color from food coloring? And not from peppers, as it had a clear consistency and was very mild flavored. Service was great. Serving portions were large. If you're looking for a place with a nice atmosphere to bring family and friends, have some drinks and you prefer the food to be on the mild side, this is a good place. Went in was told to wait for a table for twelve. While waiting, 20 people that came in after us were seated first. When I asked the host just looked up annoyed and told me that they were the bosses friends and that's the way it was then turned away and made us wait longer. We love Leo's and due to the size of the party we chose to stay but after this I don't think we'll be going back. It was my daughter's graduation dinner too. The reason for the 3 stars is mainly due to the service. Our server was nice and helpful when it came to exchanging my wife's food, but when I needed a refill it did take him awhile and would disappear. My wife said he would hide to use his phone in which she saw him do. I ordered the combination #2 because I couldn't decide what to get so I went with one of everything lol. My favorite was the enchilada, then the taco and last was the Chile relleno (don't like their recipe for the egg part). I do recommend the Chile con queso chicken. I have ordered that from the "sister" company and it is good. I am going to order that next time to confirm. I do also want to try their breakfast buffet and see how that quality is. My wife ordered the chicken tacos and she liked them. Sopapillas are always good when they are hot so do not let them sit there. read more

After a long day of tennis, we stopped at Leo's for some much needed food. The place is very large and seats plenty of people. There are TVs with sports on. We were seated and greeted very quickly. The chips and salsa were great. Chips were homemade and the salsa was a verde with the perfect amount of heat. The order of wings came with 12 wings (this is rare). We ordered the hot and although a little messy, they were delicious. And we brought half home for later. My burrito was huge as well and was filled with beef and potatoes and green chile. Half of this went home as well for a midnight snack. My wife had chicken mole and she loved it. We finished things off with sopaipilla and although I was full, it was wonder with the honey. Even with a beer and all this delicious food, the bill was under $35. It doesn't get any better than this. read more

Stayed at a near by hotel and ordered take away, I paid and wrote 0.00 on tip line as I was planning to leave a cash tip based off how quickly it was prepared. I usually leave 3-5 bucks for takeout. Needed more seasoning. Beans and rice were cold, almost tasted old. Not fresh. Hubby got a pork tamale with his meal and thought that was best out of the entire meal. Juan is the best! The food here is delicious, haven't been to a Leo's since I was a kid and still love it. Delicious Mexican food I can't get in Phoenix, I think about this place every time I visit.
