I know excellent service when I experience it. This review is for the exceptional service I received when using Atlantic Marble & Granite, in Falmouth. We were doing a very needed remolding of our kitchen after over 35 years of use. During the remodel, I contacted three countertop companies and visited each one of them. From the three quotes, I received the best price from Atlantic. Not only did I get follow up with them on their quote, one of the companies never followed up with us at all. That made my decision easier. We met with a very lovely person at Atlantic, Bella, short for Izabella, and she was amazing from the start. She was knowledgeable and very patient as she helped us pick out the perfect color. We gave her all of the measurements and she took it from there. Within just a short time, they were out doing a template and a week later, the counter was ready to be installed. Unfortunately, because of issues with our cabinet makers, they had to hold it for 3 weeks. No problem they said. When the time came, they came out installing our new quartz counter. They were very courteous and professional. I was amazed the counter fit like a glove, especially where it had a jog in it and they were able manufacture it with no seam. We were very happy and the new counter looks amazing. If you ever need any type of marble, granite, quartz work, I would strongly advise you to check them out. I'm sure you will not be disappointed. Tell them Jack sent you and Bella I said hello.

Maria was extremely helpful and patient with me as I struggled to make up my mind. She was careful not to overwhelm me with too many choices and even suggested a slab which was in stock which saved us some time & money. I really appreciated the template process they used. I was able to see what the counter flow would look like before they cut the slab. Most importantly, they removed the old countertop on installation day! Crew did an excellent job with the installation. It looks even better than we had hoped. We're very pleased!

Needed to add a kitchen and two full baths, as well as closets, move beam and add a laundry area. It came out fantastic. This group--from Tracey Perry's help with design (amazing!) to Mike Heinrich's detailed budget which they stuck to and Bill Schmidt's communication on every detail, it was actually a pleasant experience. I highly recommend this group. In between my two projects with Cape & Islands Kitchens I did another property with a well known, popular Falmouth builder (hint: begins with an "L"). It was a DISASTER. Do not be fooled by the lower initial numbers--you will pay in the end and the quality of work will suffer. I am so glad I was able to do this renovation with Cape & Islands Kitchens!

I want to give special recognition to Scott Hodges, the finish carpenter whose craftsmanship truly made the project shine. Scott's work is impeccable--especially the crown molding, which adds a level of elegance and detail that completely transforms the space. His precision, artistry, and attention to detail are second to none. Every cut, joint, and finish was executed flawlessly. Beyond his technical skill, Scott was a pleasure to work with: professional, respectful, and clearly passionate about his craft. If I could give Scott more than five stars, I absolutely would. His work exceeded all expectations and brought the entire project to life. If you're planning a renovation, do yourself a favor and ask for Scott Hodges. You'll be glad you did. If only zero stars were an option…read more.. Our experience with Longfellow was a nightmare. The whole story is long, detailed and gory, and is told in great detail below. But one anecdote distills it. The year during which most of the work was done was dominated by Longfellow's lies, neglect and their negligence in causing a massive flood which damaged large areas of our house beyond the construction zone, and caused a cascade of new problems, lies and neglect. After months of complaints, discussions, long emails that were ignored, drafting of formal legal documents, etc., we finally reached an agreement. Mark Bosnian (Longfellow's President) and I agreed as follows: -They would complete the remaining work at no cost and would forgive any outstanding invoices - I would take down any reviews that I had posted online (which I did) Soon after that phone call, I realized I had neglected to include one other request. A key element of our project was the construction of an outdoor shower which was very important to my wife. Although we raised it with Longfellow at our initial meeting, and many times after that, it was never done. After a year of hell, it was more important to get Longfellow out of our lives, then to get the shower built, so we moved to end the relationship. Unfortunately, it slipped my mind while I was talking to Mark and it was not included as part of our agreement. As a result, I sent the following email: "Hi Mark: Can you give me a call when you have a minute. It's not urgent, I actually have a small favor to ask. One of the things that went undone and that we just let go of was our outdoor shower. Personally, I'm not a big fan but it means a lot to my wife and I'd love to be able to surprise her with a shower that works. Ours is shot and needs to be fully replaced. I'm happy to order a kit if you could provide maybe two guys for what I can't imagine will even take them a full day. The only small wrinkle is that some plumbing work will be necessary - it has never worked since we got the house. But I can't imagine it's a big job for someone who knows what he's doing. We obviously don't need it until outdoor shower season. I'd be grateful if you'd be open to taking care of that thanks lee" Mark's response? Nothing. Silence, Crickets. Ghosts. And that's Longfellow in a nutshell. They will say and do whatever is necessary to mollify you in the moment and then they are off to the next sale. You're not even a memory until the next time you make a stink. When you scream, they wake up and it's the same dance. As soon as I post this, I'm sure my email will light up like a Christmas tree. Stay away from them. In any event, Longfellow failed to complete the project, leaving one relatively small item uncompleted, so I'm posting my review. Read on if you need to know more. ----------------------------- This is the demand letter I wrote under the Massachusetts "Unfair and Deceptive trade Practices" Act. A few things about it: "Tony" is our project manager We were ultimately credited for the flood costs. But with no backup receipts, detail or explanation for their numbers. They NEVER gave me the documents I asked for repeatedly over 6 months. Hmmm, they could be hiding something or they could be inept and didn't keep records. You choose. Not included (maybe it slipped my mind?) is the time they double billed us $30,000 for a new chimney. Luckily I noticed. Take it as reflective of their competence, or ethics as you choose. I'm hoping you can help us obtain the documents and other information that we have already requested several times, but have not received. Until we obtain this information, we cannot me our relationship since they are required to determine the amount of refund owed to us by Longfellow as a result of a flood in our house. Background Our project - to be charitable - has not gone well. Even Mario has acknowledged this plain fact in as many words (Attachment A). Last February, while the house was in the care, custody and control of Longfellow, there was an easily preventable flood that caused a great deal of damage. Within days, Tony assured me that we would not have to pay for any flood related costs. That promise was repeated both verbally and in writing. Unfortunately, months later we came to learn that we had been billed for, and paid, yet undetermined thousands of dollars of flood related costs...

They have a small hardware store attached for most of the essential needs and a gorgeous showroom for the larger projects of doors, windows, woodworking, etc. I go through there almost every time I need to pick something up just for the inspiration. Not only is this place as charming as a lumber yard and hardware store can be, but it's really the people who make it worth going here. They're friendly, helpful, and treat you like they see you there all the time. My first experience here was after a cold visit to Falmouth Lumber where they literally sent me out to the lumber yard in a hurricane to pick up a few cut pieces of 2 X 10s. When I went to Wood Lumber instead, I had the nicest guy (Gary) walk out with me to their yard. When he heard all I needed was a few small pieces of wood, he pulled some free scraps out, cut them to the size I needed and sent me on my way. I still see him occasionally when I'm driving through Woods Hole and his smile and wave always remind me of how nice every experience I've had at Wood Lumber has been.

He told me the process was to go find them myself and bring them to the counter to pay. When I pushed back and asked again for help, he said, "If you can find someone, you can get help, but there is only one guy working out here." Meanwhile, I was trying to track down 50 lb bags of quick concrete, 4x4x8 pressure-treated lumber, and other heavy items. There was no offer to help and no concern for me as a customer. I am in my 60s and could have seriously injured myself trying to lift these items, especially after spending so much time just trying to locate them. The service was terrible, and it is clear they do not care about their customers.
