Giving one star only because the ladies at reception were pleasant. Other than that? The "clinician" who first saw me couldn't even be bothered to wear a clean lab coat. Warning sign #1. Over an hour after my appointment time, I was ushered to the back where I was given some kind of eye exam. Didn't bother to tell me to remove my contact lenses. And yes, I told him that I wear lenses. I was there for a contact lens exam. The equipment was old and outdated. The "clinician" then proceeded to put drops in my eyes without washing his hands before putting me in a "dark room" full of people where I was told it would only take 30 more minutes to see the doctor. I had seen enough at this point and left. I have never seen nor experienced such unprofessionalism in my life. Stay away from this place. Everything in me yelled "run" from the moment I walked in. I can't say enough about Dr Vaughn and his staff. I originally saw Dr. Vaughn about 40 yrs ago in the emergency room for my toddler. He was absolutely the best! I have been a patient ever since. My toddler is a full adult with no problems, not even eye glasses. Me on the other hand, I require them now. I have recommended him to friends and everyone was more than satisfied. He is very caring and goes the extra mile in care and concern. Dr. Vaughn will not recommend procedures unless it truly needed. He is also a great humanitarian as well. They close at 1pm. Thats my review. They close at 1pm and have different hours listed on here. They put me on hold instead of telling me when I happen to call at 12:51pm on a Weds. Heard great things about this doctor and his office . I decided to book an appointment for my mom. Our appointment was scheduled for 10:30. We did arrive a couple minutes early , waiting room was full so we waited in the benches in the hallways . He did wait about an hr before getting called in. Not an issue for me . The lack of communication and waiting in this establishment sucks I was there from 8am- 1pm just for a quick eye test the Latino doctor has short man syndrome (very rude and angry) very political in here too and just lack of respect for the customer would never go back. the Latino doctor was on Amazon prime scrolling through it for almost an hour while I was waiting to be checked out by him pretty upsetting from a customer's perspective. This office is too crowded and no Air circulating! After my eyes were dialated they wanted to seat me in a hot, dark room with 9 other people! I was really afraid of contracting Covid! I had heard great things about the doctor. However, I had to leave after almost 2 hours. Also, parking is 2.00 per 15 minutes. This attitude of doctors overcrowding and waiting longer than required is inconsiderate and unprofessional! Better service is required! Fed up with mindset from the medical profession! I love the staff here. I drove to Dr.Vaugh's office one day when I had an issue with my eye and nobody else wanted to help me , he referred me to a specialist and was able to tell me what was wrong with my eye. I'm thankful for him and his caring staff. read more

I was in town for my fathers funeral and woke up with the most pain I had ever experienced in my eye. My niece directed me to an optometrist who in turn said I needed to see an ophthalmologist and told me to go out to Beverly Hills to see the one she referred ,that was not an option due to the amount of pain I was in and the length of that drive in Los Angeles traffic, so I did a google search and found Dr. Vaughn's office, I called shared my issue and they got me right in as an emergency with no waiting room lag time, completed an eye exam come to find out there was damage to my cornea, which required patching and medications. I had a follow up appointment the next day which was also just an great as the day before this was also the day I was to leave California. At one point during my appointment the phone rang more than 3 times and Dr Vaughn wanted to know why it took so many rings before the phone was answered, now this I loved as it is my personal belief that a business line should never ring more than 3 times. His practice says eye care for diabetics, I am not diabetic but I did have an eye issue. Dr Vaughn and his staff were absolutely amazing and I thank you for treating my eyes and getting me back on the road to good eye health. read more

I was forced to come here for an appointment as a consult and as much as i tried to like it, waiting 3 hours from walking in to walking out was an absolute nightmare. Waiting time: I walked in at 10:15 for an appointment. I was inside the back within 10 mins but I believe its because I had a special consult. I walked out of the office at 1:45. 3.5 hours? Never have i EVER been at an appointment so long. Technician: The woman who helped me for my visit was incredibly sweet. She was actually the best part of the visit. Dr consult: Okay. Totally get it, not a regular. I wouldnt choose this office on a regular basis, but it wasnt up to me this time I came. He was quiet, almost uncomfortable because he wasnt personable. My personal eye dr is always super sweet, talkative, and walks me through everything that is going on. He didnt, at one point even grabbing my head and moving it instead of telling me what to do. I dont appreciate being handled like that without directions. atmosphere: Definitely an older style to it. A lot of papers on the wall from years ago - really interesting to see! Again, not my style but maybe im spoiled from my eye dr. You have to think, totally different city than ive ever been in. It makes sense. Overall, I had to do it. I had no option. I've worn glasses since a child and have seen many of doctors and this was by far the worst experience I've had with an eye doctor. Honestly, if you're looking for quality care, this is not the place to go at all. First, I waited two hours to see Dr. Vaughn, just for him to be rude, dry, and rush through my eye exam for contacts. He concluded that my eyes were -4.25 and -6.00 which was way off, so much so that I was getting migraines from the sample contacts (that I had to wait two weeks for). I told them in the office that the prescription doesn't seem accurate, and they brushed it off. On top of that, I needed to order contacts before my insurance through my parents was up and Rosie, the only person that knows how to order contacts was out sick for more than a week. Why is she the only person who knows how to do that?! I called everyday to try and talk to the doctor and get some help, literally no one could help me. I tried speaking to the doctor, and the people in the office would take my number down and not call back. I ended up having to find another doctor last minute, spent more money to redo my exam and order contacts, in which the new doctor said my eyes were actually a -2.00 and -4.00, which was closer to my last prescription. This office should certainly be a last resort because it's not worth the trouble that you'll probably face. It seems they are all confused in there and don't really know what they're doing. I didn't even want to write this review and I tried getting in contact with Dr. Leroy to talk about it, but couldn't succeed in doing so. My mom went here for an eye check-up, and the thing that really bothered me was the fact that they charged her 35 dollars for her prescription, WTF! Anywhere else is free, I really didn't like that so I'm giving this place 1 star, The prescription was sloppy, for an optometrist he should write better and give you something you can read, especially if you had to pay for it. i normally get the printed prescription, which is WAY better. And i also called to ask if he could give me a better way to understand and what the numbers meant, but he just said "take it to a optometrist" and I was like WTF, I'm paying to get my prescription and you're telling me that you can't give it to me? I think that Bullshit, what kind of doctor does this? I always get mine for free. But I guess since it's in inglewood what do you expect. I really like what Mr. Leroy Vaughn has accomplished throughout the many years of delivering exceptional service to the Inglewood community, his awards and accolades supersede any other MD in the field of ophthalmology, but the one thing the office lack is time management and the scheduling of patients! The waiting period is literally hours and the waiting room is full of patients and there isn't enough seating available while you wait!!! I would give but for the fact of scheduling patients waiting for an eye exam. I've been here now for an hour! If they make you wait for hours to see the doctor then parking should be on them! My mom is happy here. My mom had a cataract surgery performed by some other Dr. whom shall remain nameless but it was so bad she had to see a specialist. So she found Dr. Vaughn. Stay away from this guy by all means. I was referred to this fool by my insurance and he ended being my worst nightmare and serious caused damage to my eyes. Due to his lack of common sense and stupidity. And I'm currently working on a lawsuit against this idiot of a doctor. I came to this fool with just very small swallow redness and to just be examined since I have never been to an eye doctor before for anything in my life and he was the first, in which turned out to be the greatest mistake of my life. This idiot instead of doing a more detailed test to see if there was anything actually going on in my eyes, he just looked I'm eyes for a few seconds and wrote a prescription for some kind of non steroidal eye called diclofenac in which I felt he was just experimenting with stuff in my eyes, I didn't try out this drops into like several months later, when I did, it made my eyes a little red so I go back to this fool and then he prescribed an antibiotic/steroid drop . When I tried out this second drop he suggested that same week I got some kind of allergic reaction to it and my right eye lid swallowed up massively. So I had to return again to this idiot and then he put me on a steroid eye drop called prednisolone ( in which I came to months later on my on research that is a top very potent steroid with serious side effects). So this idiot had me on this steroid for 3-4 weeks and told me to as keep using the first two eyes that he prescribed that were giving me a reaction. So after the 3-4week usage by his instructions. My eyes cleared up from the swallowing. But I was not 100% satisfied because it was still just a little red and dry and there was this little red vein spot on my right eye. So I asked this Leroy idiot, " if I continue to get a little redness here and there in my eyes , do I continue to take this "Prednisolone "steroid eye drop, and he said yes it's ok. He told me to come back in Nov 16, 16 . This was in July 2016. So it would have been 3 & a half months later. So all that time for 3 and a half months I was using the Prednisolone steroid eye drops on the weekends because my eyes will get a little red and dry towards the end of the week. But little did I know I was gradually destroying my eyes. And mind you this idiot never warned me on the dangers of using these drops for such a long time and he never called it a steroid or by its name when he first prescribed it to me he always called it the milky substance with the pink cover. So towards the ending of November 2016 my eyes started to degrade and started to get extremely dried out , red , with scars and and brown spots in my eyes, my eyes got So ruined. I have gone to 3 other doctors and continuing to go to doctor upon doctor to try and fix this damage this fool has done, and have tried every thing to restasis which stopped using after 15 days because of a bad reaction I was getting, to trying boxes upon boxes of different artificial tears which don't help to much, to having lower tear duct plugs put in my eyes and still constantly trying to see how to fix this in which I think has done permanent scaring in my eyes. I have been depressed, frustrated and angry. And wish I never crossed this this guys path. I use to have nice pretty eyes and now shy away from people sometimes and don't socialize as much as I use to because my eyes looks my a freak. I will be suing the shit out of this idiot.......Stay away from this Leroy Vaughn idiot of a eye doctor..... read more

I waited in the lobby for almost an hour, and literally, an aggravated toddler screamed at the top of her lungs for 20 or more minutes before a staffer instructed her mom to remove her. I understand this has nothing to do with the Doctor's chairside approach, but I will say, I believe the screaming child in the lobby was more pleasant than Dr. Vaughn. He's been a staple in Inglewood (based on the years of pictures adorning his walls) for nine decades (I exaggerate), and he seems tired, ready to retire, uncommitted, and barely dedicated beyond going through the motions. He didn't get my prescription right the first time (thus my glasses were virtually useless), so I had to return for a (no-charge) correction. It did the trick, but the Doctor did it all grudgingly; he was rude, actually. And overall, it was an awkward experience. Great selection of frames, however, at reasonable prices, and the rest of the staff is basic, capable, but nothing special. I won't return, nor would I recommend that anyone else (who I care about, that is) patronize this optometrist. read more

I came to his clinic as a consult from MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station). After spending more than an hour in one of the exam rooms, he came and told me to follow him to another exam room. He went through the motions of the exam but did not introduce himself nor address me by name. Most military applicants going through the MEPS process are young men and women (18, 19) who are in a "ready to please," "yes sir" mode and will not even think of complaining. As a physician myself, I am older than the typical military applicant. I also know that patients, whatever their background, deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy. I did not tell him that I was a doctor but I have a feeling that he would have been less rude if he had known. Based on the other yelp reviews, he seems to treat his private patients well. Our military men and women, however, deserve better. It took almost 3 hours from the time I arrived at his waiting room to the time I left the door. read more
