As a table of 4, we started by sharing the Charcuterie platter Plein Sud. Unfortunately, we dug in too fast for me to take a picture, but it was very beautiful. Came with several varieties of cured meats, cheeses, grapes, fig jam, and nuts. The only complaint is that the pieces of cheese were so incredibly small, like the size of a piece of cheese you'd cut at home to eat yourself. But these tiny pieces were meant for sharing. We asked the waitress for a wine recommendation, but she didn't seem well versed in wine and kept telling us all the wine was good. We were looking for a more specific recommendation then that. Fortunately her colleague was more helpful and had a better handle on the wine menu. For entrees, we each had our own dish. I had the gnocchi with veal (reading from my previous review, it was good but I didn't see these gnocchis as potato clouds like before). The other guests had the steak tartare with fries (fries were so good!), seafood ravioli (looked generous and creamy), and the porc Jarrett. All the entrees were nicely plated and delicious! We ended the evening with the Brioche pain perdu with caramel salé. I thought this was going to be just okay, but it was super good and decadent! For a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was medium busy. But service was a little slow, we were told there was only one chef and she was working alone. They have all the standard breakfast fare, and some interesting special dishes too. I tried the special French toast sandwich, with egg, ham and cheese sandwiched between two slices of French toast topped with fruit with maple syrup on the side. The perfect sweet and salty combo. D had the breakfast poutine, a HUGE portion, very rich and delicious. We could have shared it and been quite satisfied. What's really fun is that the vibe is casual yet refined, unlike a lot of breakfast places that veer more towards casual diner. They were playing great music, a good mix of late 90s/early00s like Franz Ferdinand, Moby and BV3000. The service was great, but it was easy as we were the only customers on a Tuesday morning. I could see this being a great place to dine on a sunny weekend morning, with the windows wide open for people watching. The flavor of the nigiri was great, but the portion size was amuse-bouche and not tapas. To charge $15 for 1/2 oz of beef and 5 cents worth do rice is highway robbery. The shishito peppers were great, all 4 of them. Most of the dish is peas which are used as filler. Again, charging $15 for about $2 worth of ingredients is ridiculous ESPECIALLY since the flavor of that dish wasn't anything spectacular. If you want less expensive shishito peppers with better flavor AND a great view, head over to Terasse Nelligan. Our waiter explained that the evening service is predominantly run by professionals with an occasional student. Students at l'ITHQ either practice at the restaurant on the 2nd floor (Resto Relève Gourmand) or during the lunch service. Only more advanced students get to serve in the dinner service because there is more complexity with the evening and tasting menus, wine service, etc. They did not have the $77 tasting menu so we just ordered from a choice of 2 table d'hôtes. I was excited to try the seal (loup de mer) amuse-bouches since I learned that seal meat is touted as a Canadian "super food". Seal meat, having a high iron content, is a very dark meat having a metallicy taste. I think the one bite was pretty much enough enjoyment for me but fun to try nevertheless. We absolutely loved the appetizers--the duck tartare with the mushrooms and lichen (despite the yogurt sauce being overly salty) and the Welks, cooked bourguignon style. This dish for me was the best and I'd recommend it, especially if you enjoy seafood. The welks were thinly sliced, buttery and had a good sort of chewiness and served with the delicate and crispy crostini. The roast, topped with 2 thin slices of Highland beef served blue, came in a close second though I wished there would've been slightly more jus to go with the roast. It was still very tender despite being lean. The confit layered potatoes were cooked in duck fat so you can't go wrong there. The desserts change regularly and this evening, we tried one of each. A chocolate enrobed mousse topped with peanuts served alongside a sorbet atop apples stained with beet juice. It seemed like the popular choice for the night as everyone at the table of 6 next to us ordered it. This was quite rich but balanced. The other dessert, I felt that the pairings were somewhat unharmonious. It had rice pudding in a brittle shortbread shell and sat on pear compote surrounded by cream, sunflower seeds and ginger caramel drops topped with a ginger sugar shards. The other mildly unexpected thing was that the bread served wasn't room temp, it was actually cold. Normally I love pea shoots but I think it could've been excluded welks and seal which already had a more fishy taste. Overall, a nice discovery.

We got situated in the bottom floor area where there was a Dj and other patrons enjoying their drinks and food. We only came here for drinks, so I got my server to surprise me with a mock tail since I was pregnant, and we got some fries on the side to munch on. Menu for food wasn't extensive, more for snacking than dining imo. Server came back with fries and our drinks. My drink was surprisingly good, I had to make sure there was no alcohol, since I could taste somewhat of gin in there, but there wasn't! The fries were hot and fresh, so good! The other 4 ladies had no problem devouring their alcohol infused drinks, plus a couple of shots and off to another bar we go!
