    The escargot was amazing!
    Clay G.

This restaurant was by far the best dining experience I had in Paris. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and speak English. They seemed genuinely pleased to see us, which can not be said for most other places in Paris. The food was amazing. As a group, we decided to try escargot and I've never been more pleasantly surprised by a food I thought would be disgusting. I'd recommend it to everyone. I also tried the duck, which tasted just like steak. Perhaps the best part about all of this was the cost. For just under €20 I had drinks, my main course and the escargot. Although the location is a little off of the main touristy locations in Paris, this restaurant is well worth the trek. Definitely make the effort to stop by for a fantastic dinner.

This is now one of my favorite restaurants in Paris! Good things about this place: 1. The portions are pretty big! 2. The servers are really friendly and patient. and 3. The food is yummy! We order the escargots with butter and garlic (super super good, definitely recommend!), the Confit duck (portion is ginormous!), the Camembert (really really delicious cheese, ask for bread!) Out of all three, I would totally go back to the escargots and Camembert! We also ordered Wine (bordeaux for me) and a light beer (Saint Omar). Both were equally refreshing! Note that this place only takes Euros, and you can opt to pay the bill at the counter or just ask the server to bring it over! Atmosphere wise, it's really chill and cozy. I would say its good for dates or just hang out with friends.

    Duck with cheese sauce

Our local friend recommended this place as good cheap traditional French food and it was right on the money! Food/Drink: we got their famous escargots with garlic and butter as well as the duck on cheese sauce. This was both our first time trying snails but they made it easy by already removing the shell! It was very tasty and very French. The duck was also very good although we weren't aware how raw slightly above medium rare is. If you don't like medium rare for steak, would recommend getting the duck well done! There's another version of the duck that also seemed very popular , it was a roasted version instead of covered in any type of sauce. The duck dish is definitely big enough for 2 to share if you aren't too hungry! Price: this was very cheap for the quality and quantity of food you get in Paris. 12 escargots was only €10 and the duck dish was around €14. The wine is also exceptionally well priced. Atmosphere: it has a very casual and lively atmosphere. Bonus: the waiters speak excellent English! Tips: ask for the English menu if they didn't already give it to you!

    House Salad (minus meat items)...excellent!

We're in Paris for a few days in the Marais District near the Bastille. I was looking for country style food and my wife found this. They are Basque oriented and the food is supurb at reasonable prices! My wife has a large Salad minus the meat items and I had the Cassoulet, a bean casserole with duck, sausage and bacon. Service is good and the owner serves the food personally. 5 stars!

This place is amazing!!! The Madam incharge speeks perfect English & is so nice and welcoming! The place is very affordable, authentic and rich. Order the sangria - you will not regret it! We had a great time! Thank you!!

Before I say anything this place only takes cash, just be wary. Took the recommendation of the staff at the hostel I was staying at and trekked on foot for about 20 minutes to find this gem. The escargot Roquefort were splendid and piping hot, with the perfect taste and texture. The real star was the Veal Cutlet Mountain style. If you like food smothered with sauce mushrooms cheese and meat you can't do much better. It is a hefty meal and is worth the price. It can get packed but rightfully so. If anyone is near this place it is a must try. Also they are friendly to English speakers so bonus!

We had a dinner there as our tour guide recommended highly. Food is amazing. Sangria is perfect. We had a great time there. We had snails, veal, salad fabricants and sausage. Service is good as well. Highly recommended!!

Gaillac wine - 13€ a bottle and delish!!!

Pretty delicious and cheap south western French food. It's always popping in here and gets packed really quickly. Worth the wait though - HUGE portions - come with an appetite. You will definitely not leave here hungry! Wine is also cheap, which is always a plus. The only negative points is that there's only one bathroom for the entire restaurant :( boo. And I suspect the food is already prepared and just heated up. Still, I would recommend les fabricants and especially le veau montagnard! Yum!

Great place for meal on the 11th especially of looking for value or late meal. Basque chicken with potatoes was good portions and tasty. Enjoyed with house red a green salad. Friendly service and open later than many restaurants. Cash only!

So my family and I recently took a vacation in Paris and this little gem is tucked away off any big major streets. The price, food, and atmosphere is delightful! Service was great, food was delicious, and for the price, you can't beat it. They speak English very well to accommodate travelers too. We came here twice on our trip because it beat a lot of the restaurants surrounding it!

Really nice, cosy place. Great service, lovely food. You can feel the French vibe from a long distance.

Delicious, inexpensive food with a friendly wait staff. English menus were available. Try the foie gras - it's made in house.

We started with the ratatouille and freshly baked bread, both simple but incredibly well executed and full of depth. The duck steak with roasted potatoes was perfectly cooked--the duck tender with a beautifully crisp exterior, and the potatoes were exceptional in their own right. The gambas flambées with rice were a standout dish: rich, aromatic, and genuinely memorable. For dessert, the chocolate mousse paired with strawberry soup was a highlight and a unique combination that worked surprisingly well together--the richness of the mousse balanced beautifully by the freshness of the strawberries. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, and the restaurant has a lively, bustling atmosphere filled with both locals and visitors, giving it a classic Parisian energy. Reservations are highly recommended as it books out quickly, though occasional cancellations can be found if you're flexible. No real plans. Just walking. Cigarette smoke in the air, scooters passing narrow streets, old stone buildings glowing under soft afternoon light. Online, this place feels impossible to book. But show up 10-15 minutes before opening and suddenly you're seated like you knew the secret all along. Inside, the room hums. Tight tables. Warm walls. Loud enough to feel alive without becoming chaotic. Nobody rushing. Nobody flipping tables. Just the rhythm of Paris doing what it's always done. The menu is entirely in French which, honestly, makes the experience better. You stop ordering with certainty and start ordering with curiosity. My wife had the risotto d'épeautre aux St. Jacques. I ordered the Magret de Canard au Romarin. The duck was solid. A 3.5/5 kind of dish. Rich, savory, comforting after a long day walking through the city. But the risotto surprised me more. The scallops were delicate, the spelt added this earthy texture that made the dish feel substantial without ever becoming heavy. And then there's the mousse au chocolat. The famous one. Served from an oversized bowl with this almost excessive "all you can eat" energy that somehow still feels elegant instead of gimmicky. We only needed a few bites. Soft, luxurious, lightly bitter chocolate balanced perfectly against just enough sweetness. The kind of dessert that doesn't ask for attention. It quietly earns it.

This review might be a little confusing…read more I was looking forward to coming back here more than any other meal on my entire trip! The first time I ate here last year, I had the most wonderful meal that I have thought about many times since. So why 4 stars instead of 5 stars? That is such a tough thing to explain. 4 stars instead of 5 b/c the meal is a little pricey and because the quality of veal is not super high, but it is still good. So here are the things that are exceptional about the restaurant and the food. The service is really friendly. Probably the most outgoing server I had all trip. He was really warm and welcoming to me and to everyone who came in. He also spoke English and was just really nice. I got a dish that has potatoes and cheese and mushrooms and veal and ham on top. It is a southwest french dish called Escalope veau camp agnarde. It is such a good dish. There were really nice duck specials of the day which tempted me, but I had my mind made up on this dish before I even departed from SFO, it was my last day in Paris and I was going to have this dish no matter what and I told them that, lol. It was funny b/c the other waitress who worked there overheard me say that and understood that and came over to drop off the check at the end of the meal and commented on it. She said she also really likes that dish and it was a memorable delicious meal for her too. It was nice that she did that. It helped me express my happiness about the meal. She was also cute! Bread comes free with the meal and so does a bottle of tap water. My meal was 20.40 euros and I was full and happy when I was done. Oh, the dish was dropped in a cool pot. Definitely give this place a try. I saw other people with burgers and other dishes all of which looked really good. Oh I just remembered that I got a really generous portion of salami and toasted bread as an appetizer to munch on while I waited for my food. What a nice touch!
