I've know this location of Les Glaceurs for quite a while, I like their cupcakes' original icing. In addition to classic flavors such as chocolate or vanilla, they also have themed cupcakes, for example you can get maple-flavored ones during sugar-shack season. I always order their cupcake assortments for my colleagues and everyone enjoys them. Recently, I decided to order a cake for my son's birthday under the theme of Pikachu. Important fact: You must order your cake 48h in advance. The cake was covered with fondant, resembled the chosen theme and was fluffy on the inside but a little too sweet for my palate, the kids enjoyed it though. Ordered a mini cake and cupcakes from here for my son's first birthday. Online ordering was very easy and convenient and order was exactly as requested. Pickup was a little tricky by car as there is a ton of construction in the area. The cake and cupcakes were very pretty and reasonably priced. We chose the birthday variety box. I'm not a big fan of cupcakes with massive amounts of icing, but if you are, this place is for you. I enjoyed a salted caramel cupcake and a slice of vanilla cake, the cake was nice and moist and had decent flavour. Baby enjoyed chowing down on his first sugar. Les Glaceurs just opened this brand new location on University, right by Place Ville-Marie. The cupcake that I ordered, i.e. Vanilla cake filled with "Caramel à la fleur de sel", was a real delight. A friend ordered the Mint Chocolate and was as delighted! Thankfully, we ordered to go (The only downside for this bakery is its size - There are only a few seats available, so if you are planning on staying to chat with a friend, I would recommend going at times when it is less crowded!) Oh, sweet jeebus, the red velvet is to die for!! I've had both their red velvet cake (a towering cylindrical hatbox sized wonder) at a friend's birthday party, as well as a half dozen of the red velvet cupcakes in a nice little takeaway box. I'm not a sugar fiend, but I ate two (OK, two and a half) cupcakes in a row. I dream of their red velvet, my new weakness. I also tried the orange popsicle cupcake and the salted caramel, but nothing compares to the red velvet. So, my advice? If you have a red velvet craving that just won't quit (something that plagues me from time to time), THIS is where to quench that nagging sugar demon. Dreamy, creamy, buttery cream cheese frosting on their butter cream cake. As far as their other treats go, I'd say they're so-so in terms of flavour. Also, pro-tip: do not refrigerate your cupcakes - they are much, much better when the icing is all soft and gooey on top. If you refrigerate them, the fats in the icing will harden and not be even nearly as enjoyable as they should be. First, I'm really not a fan of cupcakes, but I occasionally make an exception for these guys. That should encourage you to go :-D I've been to both locations and the only noticeable difference between them is the size. The St. Sulpice location is somewhat bigger and offers a few tables while the University location is quite small. I don't remember seeing any tables there, but one reviewer said they had some. Les Glaceurs' cupcakes are SUPER moist and they're generous with the icing (perhaps TOO generous, lol!). The cake portion isn't overly sweet, likely because the 2-inches of icing takes care of any sugar craving you might have. My favorite is the Red Velvet - I love the cream cheese icing. Mmmm! They also offer a gluten-free version of the Red Velvet cupcake, which is great - but the downside is that they keep these frozen and it takes one hour to bake them. So... if you're in the mood for a gluten-free cupcake, don't expect to pick it up and go. You'll have to wait an hour. They also make custom (beautiful!) cupcakes for special events, so look them up if you want something different for your party/ conference/ wedding - whatever! read more

It's a cut cupcake and macaron and gelatin place that offers a free cupcake for your busy! So far, I've had their cupcakes and they've all been pretty good as far as cupcakes go. I used to get them solely at Cho'cola but since they closed down last year =( I don't have many other fave locations. I have the neapolitan cupcake which was a dense brownie-like bottom followed by a vanilla middle topped with a creamy fresh strawberry whipped icing. Totally delightful and I split half of it with my boyfriend to share the love (not the calories). We both agreed that it was a tasty treat, not sickeningly sweet, because it was a whipped icing and a great topper to any meal. I am with some of the other reviewers - the cupcakes here aren't the best I have ever had, but I enjoyed mine nonetheless. These days it isn't unusual to find fancy combinations in chocolate truffles or gelato, but cupcake flavours have remained fairly tame by comparison. So it's nice to come across a place that has some interesting flavours. The one I had was the ginger litchi, which was subtly spicy ginger cake topped with sweet litchi fruit icing, pink sprinkles, and a sugar flower. The fragrant mix of spicy ginger with sweet litchi overtones was lovely. The cake is dense and filled with chewy bits of candied ginger that provide a nice balance to the deliciously smooth litchi icing. And while you relish your pretty little cupcake, you can look out the window and admire Montreal's glorious Notre Dame Cathedral (which is right next door). read more

The one issue I had with these cupcakes is that the cake part was dry and tasted stale. The red velvet's topping was unoriginal and a little bit on the boring side. I agree with Sara K.P. that the service is a little chilly. This is in a part of downtown where there are a lot of tourists--the place needs to step up on its friendliness, even if just a little bit. The girl behind the counter had been chatting with some girls in the back, and everyone looked just about bored out of their minds, with nothing to do. It was around 3 p.m. There were hardly any cupcakes left, which I thought was a good sign. Now that I think about it, maybe there was too much socializing going on. Anyways I made my presence known by clearing my throat and looking around because she had her back to me. She was very very "out to lunch", almost as though I had bothered her. I quickly paid for my stuff and got the heck outta there. But I won't be going back. Those cupcakes tasted stale! The frosting was even a little too hard by cupcake standards (I'm a cupcake-a-holic, I've been to cupcake places even in the U.S.) and really really tongue sharpeningly sweet. So I give this place 2 stars, one for the chilly icy customer service, and the other for the stale cupcakes. I expected more from the cupcakes here. The cake itself was dry and the cream was only sugar and hard. We tried the red velvet, banana and chocolate and the vanilla/coffee flavour. The coffee one was the best out of the 3, but we didn't finish them. I would definitely not go back there. read more
