Sandwich of the day with chips and coffee
    Ann L.

We had lunch here while touring the old city. They have a daily special that you can order with the appetizer of the day and coffee, with chef's dessert selection and coffee or all 3. We went with the coffee and dessert option and found you can substitute tea for the coffee if you'd like. The sandwich for the day was an open faced chicken salad with avocado and cherry tomatoes topped with a balsamic drizzle. The bread did actually require the steak knife provided and some elbow grease to cut through but the sandwich was very tasty and all ingredients were really fresh. The chips accompanying the sandwich were fresh as well and not greasy. The dessert was a square of carrot cake which was good. Service was good, but slow enough that we thought we were forgotten for a bit a few times. It was not busy, but we were seated inside along with a few other customers and it seemed staff were trying hard to keep up with the tables on the outdoor sidewalk area. The decor has a nautical theme and the atmosphere is fairly casual.

My family and I decided to stop here for an early dinner. There were lots of restaurants nearby but we chose Les Mordus because the menu seemed slightly more extensive and affordable than the others. Our waiter was so cute and friendly and the food came out pretty quick. I ordered the Niçoise salad and it was delicious. The tuna tartar was perfectly done and had great flavor and the vegetables in the salad were fresh and crunchy. I loved this meal - it was one of the best I had in Canada!

Loved this place so much we had breakfast twice here in one week !! Salmon egg Benedict was delicious. Everyone who works here was kind and helpful. The restaurant was adorable inside and the outside seating.

Outside seating for restaurant. Plenty of seats in the shade.

Was looking for something a bit lighter for our mid-day meal. Wandered up to Les Mordus and struck gold. Weather was spectacular so we sat outside and shared a hummus plate and a Caesar salad. Food and service were great! We had the perfect spot for people watching. Would definitely come again. What a find!

    Tofu Fish'N Chips ($20)

Went here for brunch, the three of us, and we were seated right away at 12:30 pm on a Sunday morning by a very welcoming host. I felt the setup to very modern and bright, with ample lighting come from their wide windows. Soft music and overall lower end of noise is how I'd describe the overall ambiance. We got straight to ordering and got some cocktails (Bloody Mary and Mimosa) which were great, followed by me trying out their Tofu Fish N' Chips - a brand new experience for me. The Tofu Fish N' Chips was an interesting experience for me with the first bite reminding me of how Fish N' Chips really taste, but the experience quickly went down because the Tofu had no natural flavor to offer to the rather unseasoned/bland batter, where normally, fish does add a decent amount of flavor. My only feedback - for this tofu dish is to either add some flavor to the Tofu itself or the batter! Service was quick and food arrived within half an hour which looked like a standard in Quebec City. In comparison to other restaurants in the area though, service was much quicker! Overall, a positive experience!

Adorable restaurant and the best meal I've had in Quebec

Fabulous wait staff who double checked that my meal would be dairy free. Fast, attentive service. Fun, fresh ambiance with lovely music. Well air conditioned indoors! Immaculately clean. This restaurant sealed it for me that I will return to Quebec annually for vacations. Who has ever heard of falling in love with a city over breakfast?? Yeah, the experience is THAT good.

We ate here for breakfast. I had a frittata with salmon. The salmon had a very strong, almost overpowering, flavor. The lungo was good. My wife and son each had the light continental breakfast and enjoyed it. Service was a bit slow but we have found that common in this area at least for this time of year.

    Arrabbiata and burrata tagliatelle

The restaurant interior is lovely and our server was very polite, and though we didn't have a reservation for dinner, we (party of 4) were seated in less than 10 minutes. However, the food, while tasty, still feels overpriced. The tagliatelle was good but not particularly special and the serving was surprisingly small. The mussels still had some sand, and the hanger steak came in four tiny pieces. Again, overall quite tasty, but I wouldn't return.

Great location across from the Frontenac Hotel! The service was great, we were seated near the window with beautiful view, service was fantastic and they offered a variety of lunch options. Prices were a little steep, but in line with other restaurants in the popular touristy area. Would definitely go back for the cocktails, salad and beef tartare!

A beautiful restaurant with a sidewalk outdoor seating under red umbrellas. We sat outside as it was a beautiful morning. Service was very good, waiters were friendly & attentive. Menu in French & English with a variety of breakfast items. We wanted croissants so we had a plate that included hard boiled egg, croissant, cheese, salami & fruit. Perfect. We added bacon & a crêpe. Delicious

Excellent!!!! My first stop to eat in Quebec and it was fantastic. The handsome wait staff took care with my mom in the wheelchair and was quite kind. We had the seafood salad, wine, coffee, chowder and the soup of the day. Of course, I had an espresso amaretto martini. It was all wonderful. Thank you!

Semi fine dining. Menu changes frequently for now. Looks like they are experimenting. Service is awesome. Ample seating/table spacing. Valet parking. Does not have a highchair but only a seat booster. Accepts credit and debit.

Stopped by for lunch. Food was delicious, service was prompt and courteous, waiter was knowledgeable, and ambiance was very relaxing. A bit pricey but worth it in my estimation. I'd come back again for dinner.

I've been lucky enough to come twice now while on vacation to jjacques and both times were exceptional, I also funnily enough sat at the exact same table both times. The service and staff and excellent - they give great recommendations, are funny and just make you feel taken care of. Shout-out to Nathan our waiter who spoke in EN for half the table and FR for the other half haha. He was so fun! The first time I came here was with my husband and we had a lovely dinner - the salmon blinis were our fave so I knew when I was here the second time, they were a must! The second time, there were six of us so we ordered quite a bit - we had the salmon blinis with caviar, a few oysters, the cod fritters, the prawn cocktail, the mushroom tortellini, flounder crudo, and whole fried fish - for dessert we did a cheese plate with some delicious local cheese. Everything was delicious - the whole fish is a must - the skin is so crispy and tasty - has a lot of Vietnamese flavours. The cocktails are also fabulous here - I had the Mexican Firing Squad and the Jungle Bird - both delicious and easy to drink! The room itself reminds me of a cool speakeasy bar/resto you'd find in the streets of New York City. It's hidden in an alleyway behind a very unassuming door. It's all part of the magic of the restaurant. If there is one place to go for dinner in QC, go here. We booked a reso in advance and I recommend you do this to secure your spot!

The staff were all very great in explaining everything about the menu. For example, if you want the beef Tomahawk ($145), they told you to order it now since it'll be a 45 minute wait. We started off with 24 oysters ($72) as we love oysters. They had different type of oysters and we enjoyed the east coast oysters. My favorite dishes that we ordered were the seared scallops ($42) and the Butterfish Tataki ($22). We were a bit disappointed in the Crab Rotolo ($36) as we didn't enjoy the combination of the sauce and crab. The scallops were cooked very well and we loved the sauce for the Tataki. The Vitello Tonnato ($22) and Cod Fritters ($15) were decent but not as good in comparison to our favorites. We throughly enjoyed our dinner here as we had a good time trying all the food and mocktails they offered.

While waiting for the entrees, our wine got warm as there wasn't an ice bucket that was given to us but wouldn't matter much because we finished our drinks by the time the food came out. The entrees were not as good- combination of personal preference and the way it was cooked. For the pasta, I thought it would be noodle shaped but it was shells- kinda a disappointment. A friend ordered the pork and shrimp plate and was told it was very dry/overcooked overall. The veggies side was what we talked about after the meal with how good it was. Not sure if I'll be coming back but they do have a rotating menu so hopefully there are better dishes coming up.

Reservations is highly recommended/required. The atmosphere is very cozy with wood themes and very private. We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.
