Stopped in for breakfast while on vacation. The poutine, sausage and poached eggs were delicious! The staff is friendly and bilingual which is an added bonus. The restaurant is cozy and quaint! They even let us store our suitcases inside while we dined.

Ordered the set menu: Special Quebec set (appetizer, main entree, dessert, coffee/tea) for about 30 CAD (21 USD) with tax and tip expect that to be more of a 28 USD. I think this was worth getting if you are trying find a place with a bit of everything to sample local fare. Out of the set menus out there, I thought this one had the more comprehensive offer. Appetizer: Canadian pea soup- this is more of a hearty split pea soup with possible bacon in it. Not vegetarian. but quite good and a good welcome after wandering around cold snowy Quebec. Entree: Quebec meat pie w/ gravy on the side, fries and salad. The meat pie makes me think of a Chinese beef burger- so if you're into asian fare, consider this set for sure. The gravy is must to bring the pie to life and that's where it stops tasting like a Beijing meat pastry. Fries were actually quite good- well made. Salad was with a mayonnaise type of dressing. Dessert: maple syrup pie- I see people complaining on the side it's small but for this set, you're pretty full that this size is perfect to tie up a meal with a sweet ending. You can taste the maple syrup, sweet, decadent with a home made crust. inside has a casual atmosphere- think pub meets Canadian log cabin. Didn't get the 5 start not because of the food but because of the attitude of our server. they weren't mean and the service was efficient and fast, but I had the overall impression they were kind of judgy and not very warm even though I was already speaking some French. They gave enough of a cold attitude that it actually affected this overall meal. I would come back for the food but hope we don't get the same server.

The food is SO delicious!! Stephanie is phenomenal-so warm and friendly. Best food AND atmosphere!! This is a must see!

We went for breakfast and returned for dinner! This is a hidden gem! Food is really good, fast and attentive service and they speak 3 languages! We will go back tomorrow. Do not understand why people make huge lines instead of going here. We found a place to sear both tones, no wait. All staff are so nice too!

Came here upon recommendation of the hotel receptionist. He said they offered our hotel guests a discount and there have a homey atmosphere. It was a quick 5 minute walk. He was right! I enjoyed my Quebec Meat Pie Special very much. The meat pie crust was a little dark, but the inside meat was like a tender pot roast with chunks of potato. And the mushroom gravy was so delicious. I also enjoyed the roasted veggies - carrots, mushroom, tomato... (A friend tried the Meat Pie at another famous restaurant nearby & the inside was like hamburger!) The pea soup was like a ham & bean soup. The maple syrup pie was quite sweet and reminded me of pecan pie without the pecans, but the fresh fruits balanced the sweetness. All of the staff were so welcoming & friendly. I returned a few days later for breakfast and also had a very pleasant experience. I would definitely return & recommendation to others.

My group of 10 and I were looking for a quick lunch while exploring Carnaval just down the street. We were enticed by the 2 for $10 mimosa sign outside and quickly seated. The staff were quite nice offering to take a group photo for us (though one person was cut out of every photo lol), joking around, and chatting to our group. What we got: - Mimosas - French Onion Soup - Croque Monsieur Final Thoughts: Food was quite underwhelming besides the mimosa deal. I've had better onion soup and also almost choked on a bay leaf stem in my soup. The croque monsieur was kind of cold and dry. It also didn't seem to come with a bechamel sauce either so very different from our expectations. I would only come back for the mimosa deal.

Stoppednin as we were hungry and 6 looked good. Got the chicken sandwich, which is listed under the grilled cheese. And garlic cheese bread. The chocken was cold but tasted fine. There was a sauce on the sandwich I wasn't expecting. Came with a salad and cold fries. The garlic bread was good where the cheese was. The lady that was busing the tables was super nice and spoke great english.

I loved the service and the food in this place. We went late at night. We were the last customers and didn't even feel like that at all. That day, we ordered desserts to go, and those were great too. In the morning we decided to go back there again and again the service and the food were great. It's definitely recommended, I might cross the border just to go get my Benedict Eggs breakfast again. Haha

$25 again for some dried out quiche

The place was OK. It's a tourist trap like every other restaurant in the area. It's high prices and American cheap food. $25 for a four egg omelette is ridiculous but the whole area to be fair is the same way you can't get anything under $20. Nothing is worth the price. It's pretty bad but to be fair. It's all the restaurants over there I hit a lot of of them and they are all ridiculously not worth it. Kind of disappointed I went to Old. Quebec felt like I was eating at a diner in the USA. I heard some other group complaining that the meat was inedible.

I was fortunate to have breakfast (well, it was lunchtime, but I ate breakfast) at Cafe Bistro l'Omelette twice during my stay in Quebec City at the end of April 2024. I thought the interior was quaint and charming. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The meals were freshly prepared and hot - and quite large for the price. The sausage they served was wonderful - such a thin, crispy skin, unlike American sausages with that skin that you have to gnaw through. You didn't have to wait long to eat. I also stopped in one night after a disappointing meal at another restaurant so that I could have some creme brulee, which did not disappoint. I would happily return if I can get back to Quebec City.

It was directly in front of and below the bar such that you could both eat dinner and drink at the bar simultaneously. Totally unacceptable. We requested a change to either outdoors or another indoor table which was away from the bar in a corner toward the front of the place. Both were instantly denied with no reasonable alternative suggested by the owner himself, short of waiting an hour for a different table to open. I understand places like to get rid of their undesirable tables but do not foist this onto patrons who have booked weeks to a month in advance! We ended up not eating there at all and went to a vastly superior spot near the FRONTENAC , LE CONTINENTAL- excellent in all aspects! Bottom line - stay away from BISTRO St- MALO- un accommodating and using totally undesirable tables so close to the bar that you may as well be drinking your dinner instead of eating it! This place is NOT recommended by me.There are numerous better choices in QUEBEC CITY with its hundreds of wonderful places to select. Who needs this type of aggravation? Zero stars from me!

Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. Highly recommended, and we would gladly return on our next visit to Québec City.

Le Hobbit is a cozy spot with a corner view of the city's dining/shopping street with great 2 seater tables to enjoy the private ambiance as well as some longer tables for groups of 4, 6, 8 to gather. Reservations is highly recommended/required. The atmosphere is very cozy with wood themes and very private. We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

We were underdressed, but the host basically was like "the dress code is only for the waitstaff, you are fine." So the place is definitely welcoming and had a nice vibe. Most of the tables spoke French but there was one other larger group also composed of English speakers. Waitstaff was fully bilingual though the vibe of the place is more Francophone than Quebec tourist. The food is cooked technically very well, though the portions are small, particularly our scallop appetizer which was maybe 2 scallops. The food was very good, but for the price it wasn't amazing, amazing. My wife said her trout for example was a bith mushy. I had the beef and it was very good. I'd happily it that and the scallop dish (maybe I'd order two, lol) again. Cocktails were also very good. Then there was the pre-dinner mackrel rolled in seaweed. Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. Again this is a solid restaurant and despite being 'fancy' had a very unpretentious vibe about it, which I appreciated. But the price feels a bit high, and the service was quite slow. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.
