Pooh and I stayed here during our third leg of our vacation. We had a beautiful room like a one bedroom apartment. Hardwood floors, separate bedroom, big dining room and living room. The kitchen was fully equipped and we had a washer/dryer. The sofa pulled out to a double bed. We also had a great view of downtown Ottawa from the windows and balcony What we didn't like was the crappy internet connection. We have stayed at many hotels and we never had to pay for decent internet access. Basic internet at other hotels was fine. If we wanted higher speeds we'd have to pay either 10$ or 20$ per day! Here the basic service was crap. We couldn't even watch anything on CityTV, Tubi or Crave. We ended up having to use our cell phones as hotspots - that is unacceptable. Also the body wash, shampoo and conditioner provided by the hotel was not refilled and the floor of the shower was quite slippery when it's wet. I had to hold the hand rail at times. One coffee pod was not even enough to provide two cups of coffee. We ended up buying instant coffee Around 4 pm every day a door was opening and slamming shut constantly around our room. It was quite annoying. They should install something to have the doors shut slowly. Our door slammed shut too. This was our first time staying in downtown Ottawa and we loved it but next time a different hotel. read more

No soap! I checked into the hotel today. I went to wash my hands in my bathroom and there was no soap. I called the front desk and they told me it was back ordered. I was not informed of this when I checked in. If I had been, I could have purchased some soap at the mall before it closed. How many germs are going to be on the common spaces if no one has soap?! DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE AT ALL COSTS! We booked a suite for a nice out of town outing for me and my wife's anniversary. After dinner in the ByWard market, I came back to the hotel. They asked me for my ID to get up to my room, once I showed them, they didint believe it was my ID so they asked for a second piece of ID and with an EXTREMELY rude tone, denied me once again. I proceeded to show him my Facebook and he then finally let me go to my room. My wife then arrived shortly after I got up to my room and I had her wallet and all her belongings. As she went to buzz into the hotel, they asked her for an ID to get up to the room, and the man at the front desk was again EXTREMELY rude and told my wife to leave if she doesn't have a way of proving that she is in the hotel. Room was far below expectations for price paid. If you love getting yelled at and robbed for your money this is the place for you. read more

Spent several nights at Les Suite Ottawa while I was in town for a conference. The amenities were nice, though the hot tub advertised on the website had been removed 3 years prior. The suite was great, large and clean, the hotel was in the middle of reno's which was lame but management did forwarn me so it is what it is. The staff are what stood out, 100% guest oriented, everybody was great, but Varlene at the front desk really shined. 100% I will recommend this establishment without hesitation! read more

Strange / Odd - Sterile / Barren; What the heck? I checked into this place. All I wanted was a small room and got this gigantic apartment that I had absolutely no use for. I literally became lost in my room. I'm not sure what this place is all about. Price was OK - I tell you the truth; the area freaked me out so much - That I just wanted to get out of the place in the morning; I didn't bother to check out the pool. Overall - I didn't feel very comfortable here. Beds weren't comfortable; I sort of felt that I was staying in a hospital. I think the place was clean; But - I can't be for certain. I felt lost and cut off from everyone. Parking situation is creepy and desolate. Wifi wasn't very reliable and cut off at times. Disappointing! Location was OK. Walking distance to some of the sites; if that's what you want to call them. Lots of shady characters in the area - beware! I'm serious! read more

So to start off our stay we got there and they told us we never booked a room.... My boyfriends company was booking for us so maybe their mistake but regardless they didn't make any effort to find out what happened they just through they're hands up in the air. Then when we finally rebooked a new room we got up there and there was literally someone staying in that room!!! She wrote down the room number and everything and I confirmed like 10 times with the woman in the door way that I had the right room. But yea I totally walked into someone else's room during a pandemic makes me feel super safe.... also considering I've heard from multiple staff members that they are using the hotel as a quarantine site for people coming off of flights. So then I had to go all the way back down with all our luggage get the right one and then all the way back to the 16th floor. I forgot my key once when leaving the room so I had to go down to get another one to get back in... yes I know I did something dumb... but I'm human... haven't we all? Didn't this guy look at me and say make sure it doesn't happen again... was so rude to me. Not one smile... I was nothing but nice and apologetic to him. Well of course I accidentally did it again 2 days later. That guy was down there and I struggle with anxiety so I literally waited for another front desk worker to come and help me because I felt so uncomfortable asking him again... literally felt like he was going to yell at me. The room looked clean but the carpets Where disgusting. Stains, dirt and super outdated flooring to start with. There where 2 phones... one of them worked. I was cooking a lot... the stove works great.... the oven burnt everything I made in less than 5 mins.... There is no AC only heat so it gets quite warm in the rooms. We've been opening the windows half way through the day for an hour. Furniture is really outdated and don't use your balcony unless you just want to stand out there for a bit. The hotel apart from the lobby looks like an old Sketchy apartment building. The one thing we absolutely loved about this hotel was the little cafe in the lobby! Makes the best crepes and hot chocolate! They're paninis are amazing too!! And the sweetest workers. By the 4th day she knew my order and what room number to call when it was ready. We booked a two-bedrooms suite, and when we arrived at 9pm, the room was not ready, and they wanted to trade it for a regular hotel room. What a way to start the stay... The good: Got parking compensation for the above issue. Box of chocolate with apology note was waiting for us the next day. Suite is perfect for family of four. Good location. Has lots of baggage carrier carts. Good water pressure. Includes washer and dryer. Nice view. Friendly staff. The bad: Old look/old feeling/ old smell, old hotel. No furniture on balcony. A/C does not work. Maintenance tried to come into our room while we were there, thought we had left. Walls and carpet has spots. Bathrooms small. Elevators are very slow on busy nights. No pillows for couches. Breakfast not included. Please take note that we did not try the appliances, nor visited the gym/pool area. Also, the "bad" cannot be corrected by a "currently under renovations" excuse. The place has a great location and has potential. And us staying there just two nights was perfect. But staying a week, would probably have a different outcome. read more

If you're planning an extended stay in Ottawa I'd recommend you check out Les Suites that is just outside the Byward Market. The place is centrally located and in the heart of the city. The hotel rooms are a bit older and are more like apartments than hotels. Whenever my friends have a party downtown this is the place they have it because of the size of the suites, a kitchen, living room, dining room as well as 2 large bedrooms. Since it's centrally located it's no more than 5 minutes to walk to a bar, club or lounge. The rooms are a reasonable rate and you get free wifi. If you want to avoid the hotel feel and be in more of an apartment feel then this place is for you. If you want a slightly nicer version of this place there are the Minto Suites but that is slightly outside of the downtown core and closer to the business district. Les Suites furnished rooms remind me of a student or older couples apartment more than anything. read more

We all got sick staying at this hotel. Coughing with head aches every morning. My 7 month old also got sick as there must be mold or something horrible in the air conditioning. We stayed over a week in which the sickness started 3 days after. Would not recommend for long periods of time due to bad air in the hotel. read more

Don't stay here. The room smelled like animal urine and was marginally clean. The staff at the front desk, including the manager have an "I Don't care"attitude. You wait so long for the elevators it is crazy. On one of the nights of our two stay there was no room to park in the hotel garage. We had to park on the street. The manager said that if we didn't have a receipt verifying that we parked on the street we had to pay the 30.00 per night parking fee. Awful would never stay there again. We have stayed in many nice hotels in the same area for similar price that are far nicer and friendlier. read more

A great bargain place to stay in downtown Ottawa with lots of room right next to the Byward Market. The suites are indeed full suites with bedroom, kitchen, living room, bath and washer and dryer. I had a 3 week work trip in Ottawa in the winter time. If you are needing a place for a long term stay I would say this is like a condo with room service. My room had a living room, dining room, bedroom, full kitchen and laundry. I mean ensuite washer and dryer not a coin laundry! Love this! So convenient for my needs. The location is great too! It's right beside the Rideau Centre, a few blocks from Byward Market and a block away from a supermarket and dollar store. I had no issues with the service or front desk. They even leave you towels for the kitchen. The downsides I found were small. They had a 42 inch TV and another tv in the bedroom but all analog so I got fuzzy channels the entire time. Also they tend to book a lot of young groups on weekends. Seemed every weekend was some kids hockey tournament so kids yelling and running in the hallways and stairs. There is a fitness center, but it's really small. Still I was OK to give up this aspect to have the every day type conveniences I had in my room. Otherwise it was a good stay and had many things I wanted. read more

I have no complaints about this place but nothing stood out in my mind either. I had stayed here with another couple while staying in Ottawa for the weekend. The smell was a tad musty but the rooms were a nice size. We had a terrible view of the back of a building but we had a full kitchen (WITH a wine bottle opener... SCORE!). Wall to wall carpet (ew) but the evenings of sitting around the tiny living room drinking wine with family will not be forgotten. An excellent location for a hotel - seems to be in the middle of all of the action. It was very easy to walk to major attractions, such as Parliament Hill and Byward Market. Be warned that it is across the street from a few night clubs, so there can be quite a lot of noise during the weekend. I found the beds and pillows very hard and uncomfortable. My group also had problems with some of the appliances. We had to exchange our coffee maker twice and our oven once. Thankfully the maintenance staff was very quick to help us with these problems. The wifi is free if you bring your own laptop or other device, and the coverage is excellent. read more

What can I say. You can pick apart any hotel you stay at. Lea Suites is a lower cost larger room dated hotel. If your looking for concierge service, valet, luggage boy etc as read is previous reviews then you didn't do much research on this hotel. Sure when we got there they tried to charge us again because they didn't enter the booking right. Sure the furniture is dated but overall it's clean, large suite (great with the kids) and close to everything. I bet past reviewers wanted the Chateau but at motel 6 prices. Booked their basic room at this hotel for 5 girls to crash after a bachelorette party and when we called the day of to see about early check in we were shocked to hear them say they upgraded us to the same amount of beds but a room with 2 bathrooms instead of one. Then when we arrived a few hours later they said we were further upgraded to the presidential executive suite. This suite blew our minds! This suite couldn't have been more perfect for hosting and crashing after the bachelorette party. We were almost 20 girls in the suite at once and there was way more then enough room. We were also very happy to not have any complaints for noise. This place is the spot to go when visiting ottawa or hosting a get together. Suite was clean and equipped with all kinds of utensils in the kitchen along with a stove,dishwasher,microwave and fridge. :))) read more

Our first stay at Les Suites. The staff were all friendly and was pleased that our SUV fit in the parking lot. The room itself was large but our room had no view. The bed was comfortable but found the furniture in the main room to be uncomfortable. It has a kitchen with some basics but had to wash everything before using as they were dirty. There is no breakfast included with the room here. Overall it was okay but would try somewhere else next time. The location was convenient. read more

I was so pleased with our stay at Les Suites. We spent 2 nights here, one night in an Executive King Suite, the other in a Premier Executive King Suite which was a free upgrade when they accidentally put us in a Traditional Suite which we noticed the minute we walked in the room. The two are almost the same but the Premier has been updated with nicer decor. The Executive suites are enormous - 750 sq feet, and a fantastic bargain at $145 US. We had a kitchen, dining table, living room, giant office room with a desk and doors for privacy, a full bathroom in the hall, and a second full bathroom off the master bedroom. There was a linen closet, multiple clothes closets, and a washer/dryer. Parking was $20/night and internet was free. In our first room the internet was a little spotty, but fine in our second room. Both rooms were very clean and neat. My teenage daughter prefers to camp out on the floor than sleep on a typically crappy sofa bed mattress, so she loved having the office room to herself with doors for privacy. So the Executive Suite was a cheaper alternative to a 2 bedroom suite and served us well. I could easily see myself living in a room like this for a month if I was here on assignment. The desk staff was very friendly. There's a small cafe attached to the hotel if you want a snack. The location is excellent - just 2-3 blocks to the Byward Market and 2-3 blocks to the Rideau Canal, which we wanted to ice skate on during Winterlude. They give you a coupon postcard to get a discount at some of the local restaurants as well. Only 2 complaints: The 3 elevators were really slow. Expect to wait a while for them to show up in the lobby. Finding your way back to the parking lot was confusing. The door you come in from from the parking lot is locked when you try to go back from the lobby, and the door labeled "parking" next to that door is to a different parking lot with the same name ("P2") but different colored signs. Signage is poor and the one way doors confuse matters further. read more

So this review is confusing to write because it has some good points and some bad points. Overall I enjoyed our stay here...I think... We stayed here 12 days so I feel like we got to know this place fairly well. There are a few quirks. If you are expecting a full on hotel experience you will be let down. That said it really suited the needs of my family of five. I found it (mostly) clean, quiet (we had a courtyard room) and comfortable. I think this part however is the most important to note; In all honesty if you drive a large SUV , Truck, or van this is simply not a hotel for you. The rental company upgrade us to this ridiculous Ford Expedition MAX. The parking garage can only accommodate large vehicles on the lowest level due to height, which is fine. The problem is there are very few spots and it is not enforced at all so often we had nowhere to park as small cars took the spaces. The hotel told us to use the pay lot down the street but being American and not having theses cool "chipped" credit cards we could not use the machine. Three nights we had to park at the Rideau Center. Their garage is large and has ample parking at the same rate as the hotel ($20). Still if I am staying at a hotel I would really like to park there. If there is only one floor with a few spots for large vehicles you would think that they would somehow make sure their visitors could park. So, although this is a great hotel to stay at mostly I can not stress enough how if you drive anything over a regular car this will become a bit of a daily nightmare for you and to AVOID. Pros: Quiet building, you never hear your upstairs neighbors. I love that! Huge "apartment like rooms" Nice staff Presse Cafe in the lobby- yummy and so nice Comfy beds. Not an issue for us but coming from California where this is a heavily enforced law It really stood out to us. Good to note in case Overall would I stay here again? Other reviews mention that this place is a bargain. There's a reason - you get what you pay for. First, hot water heaters are so small that you can have one person take a 15 minute shower. Then, the next person has to wait for the tank to refill and reheat - a minimum of a 30 minute wait. This wait must also happen after the dishwasher runs (the hot water won't last through a hot washer run), after the clothes washer (which, also, won't have enough hot water to run a hot load of laundry). So, the advantage of having these items is really negated because you can't actually fully utilize them. Second, if you want even the smallest service - it won't happen. I asked for a parking card (which wasn't available when we checked in) to be delivered to our room. Uh, nope, we could make the extra trip and pick that up on our own. Third, the state of the room. When we checked in - I got to do the dishes of the person who stayed in the room before us. They were still in the dishwasher. Clean? Dirty? I don't know but I wasn't taking a risk. So, welcome to your vacation - you get to do dishes! Overall, the room is about the longevity of the furniture rather than the comfort of the guest. Think dorm quality furniture and you've got what the accommodations are like. Many folks know that comforters are rarely washed, there are no extra blankets in the room here...FYI. Finally, a practical note. The garage here has a SUPER low clearance. An American SUV would not be able to park here. Even a low profile vehicle with a bike rack wouldn't make it. Make sure you remove these items and call ahead for measurements to ensure your vehicle will be able to park in the hotel lot. Overall, I'd stay somewhere else as the rooms here can not handle the minimal needs of a family. read more

Was not like the pictures I'd seen on their website. The room we had was tired and bland. Did not match the layout either. More bedroom space would have been nice. Fully equipped kitchen, not that we used it. Stayed in a two bedroom two bathroom suite. We had a big truck and had difficulty parking it at the hotel- there were not enough spaces for large vehicles. The hotel reimbursed us for the packing charges though as we had to park offsite. The elevators are SO slow. There are 3 but we were constantly waiting and you can't get more than 6 people inside them. Didn't try the pool or gym. Good location though- a block from Rideau Centre and Byward Market. read more

Stayed here for a few weeks the past year. Pros: - convenient location. Byward market, Parliament Hill, conference center, etc. are nearby. However, most Byward Market restaurants are guaranteed to be overpriced, while the quality can range from ok to somewhat good, or below average. - washer/dryer in the suite (Convenient though they don't clean well. Clothes get wet and then dry, but they don't smell or look as clean as when you wash them at home.) Cons: - You have to believe in being nickel-and-dimed to stay here. Parking is $17/day. If you want internet at the speed that you're used to, be prepared to pay extra, etc. - It was noisy even late in the evening, especially during the "Fringe Festival", which lasted for quite a long time. It doesn't seem to help even if you are around the 12th floor. You might also have a barking dog near or next to your room. - Too many smokers around especially near the hotel entrance. They don't actively smoke inside the hotel, but there is usually a line of chain smokers by the bike racks outside the building right next to the hotel entrance. There is a gym on the 5th floor, shared with Novotel. There were (seemingly polite) shirtless, tattooed young men with strong cigarette smell holding cigarette packs in the cramped ladies' locker/wash room. - Room cleanliness is near the acceptable level, with the fringy dark carpet being the worst. It would have been better if the hotel had gone with window shutters instead of fabric draperies that release plumes of dust whenever you draw the curtain. Housekeeping service is erratic. Glass windows and doors could use some or at least monthly cleaning. - Elevator is very slow. Sometimes there were also very loud false fire alarms to add to the general merriment. read more

Stayed here in May while a member of my family had her investiture into the Order of Canada. The location of the hotel is spectacular - right next to Byward Market and a 20-minute walk from Parliament Hill. Rooms were nice, staff were helpful and polite. What really put this experience over-the-top for me was what happened on the morning of the Order investiture. I had to visit the business centre to print out my event confirmation. The printer was taking a little while to print (truthfully, I don't think I selected the right printer from the drop-down menu), but before I could be inconvenienced in the slightest, a well-dressed employee walked in and asked if he could be of any service. I mentioned that I was trying to print something off and he offered to print it off in his office next door. As we walked over, I found out he was the GM of the hotel. As he printed off my ticket, I told him why we were there (my family had 3 rooms booked for a 5-day stay surrounding the ceremony), and he offered his congratulations and asked when we would be out, so he could place a bottle of wine in the room where the recipient was staying. He thanked me for letting him know and when we got back later in the day, my family found a bottle of excellent wine and a congratulatory note in their room, hand-written by the GM of the hotel. As someone who works in the hotel industry myself, I think it's little things like this that can absolutely turn an otherwise "decent" hotel stay into a memorable one. As we were already thrilled with the hotel, this really was icing on the cake and we would definitely recommend Les Suites to anybody looking for a mid-tier priced hotel in a fantastic neighbourhood in Ottawa! read more

VERY LOUD HOTEL...from the toilets flushing upstairs to the lack of outside soundproofing a good night sleep is hard to get. Staff could care less about your stay, or overall experience. False fire alarm at 3:30am and the front desk is more worried about their makeup than if everyones ok...shameful. We stayed here 10yrs ago and was thrilled with the service and care we recieved, now we're treated as an afterthought. When we asked if a rebate of reduction of our parking rates would be applied for the inconvenience, the front desk staffer laughed in our faces...Good job Les Suites, we won't return, and will never recommend you again. read more

Customer service is apparently a foreign concept to these people. They refused to cancel my reservation and charged me for a night I absolutely couldn't use all because of a silly technicality. I booked online thinking everything was normal, but apparently I missed a tiny box that would allow cancellation. After speaking with someone on the phone, no one mentioned that parking would be an extra $22 fee or that there was a height restriction of 6' and my truck wouldn't even fit. When I learned this, I tried to cancel but they told me:"Oh well, too bad for you, that's our policy and we won't make any exceptions." I felt duped, and paid for two hotel rooms. I will NEVER book with these people again, they have no sense of human decency! read more
