A long-time Houston family planted in Houston and have been in business for prob over forty years or so! Father and son business and I came to them to have some jewel appliqué embellished jeans hemmed because I'm a petite 5'1 girly and it's hard to find jeans that fit! I called them on Easter weekend and they were about to close shop early for the holiday weekend but I caught them right before closing and they agreed to stay open just long enough for me to get there and drop off the jeans. I arrived and Mr. Imparali (their dad) stayed after just to measure my hem and then the tune around time was quick! Just a few days later we picked up the jeans and they even expedited it for us. I showed up with my dress needing new nude lining in the cleavage area and the fit was weird. I ordered it online and like an idiot I tried to fix it myself. Had no time to fix it before heading to Houston for the convention and I was panicking. Mr. Chinh out of the kindness of his heart chose to help me last minute and fixed my dress. He kept adjusting it until it was perfect. While I was waiting I observed his interactions with other customers and he has the most integrity I've seen in a tailor. He educated a young man on the proper measurements for his suit and explained how what he was requesting would be too costly for him and may not even look good. He could've easily charged him an exorbitant price and done what was requested but instead he was honest with the young man and gave him other options and a place to buy better fitting suits. Other customers I spoke with in the sitting area sang his praises as well. And the price he charged me was way less than I expected or that I've ever paid for simple alterations in Dallas. He didn't write the price on the invoice, so I wrote "$30" on it myself to avoid any confusion. When I came to pick it up, he told me the price was $40. I showed him the invoice and reminded him that we had agreed on $30, but he still argued that I should pay $40. Reluctantly, he agreed to $30. Finally, when it was time to pay, he entered $33 into the credit card machine instead of $30. It may have been a credit card surcharge, but he never mentioned or explained it beforehand. He simply charged an extra $3 without telling me why. Between the missed pickup time, the disagreement over the agreed price, and the unexplained extra charge, I won't be returning.
