Very rude, dismissive and uninviting, and this negative experience was had over a short phone inquiry. I guess customer treatment in based off of judgments he places on your voice, and for some very odd reason based off of nothing relevant to my phone inquiry, he elevated his voice and stated multiple times in the short minutes of the call that "this is Montrose," as if to let me know, I don't belong. Not "belonging" is perfectly fine with me. Wish I would have read the 1 star reviews before making the call, the previously posted 1 star reviews provide the warning that I needed. read more

Excellent experience! Dropped off my dress for repairs near closing so it was ready the next day. Warned me that the dress might be a little smaller as they had to use existing fabric to stitch a tear. Dress still fit perfectly and you can't even tell that there was a rip in the first place. I called three other places requesting a timeline for hemming a few dresses. All had a week minimum turnaround. I found Expert and owner Ismael said he could do next day. Luckily I had five days to spare so here wasn't too much of a rush. It averaged about $30 a piece of clothing for hemlines and a few other alterations. I was looking for an owner-operated small business and little did I know I would encounter a racist one! Go elsewhere! I live in Montrose so I have always seen the shop sign when I was out driving. I needed to get my measurements taken for a wedding. So I thought, hey, why don't I walk over to the One Hour Alteration and support a small business when I can. So I walk in, and immediately the owner refuses to make eye contact. Keep in mind that this place is super small and he's standing right in front of me. I greeted him and he couldn't extend the same courtesy. I should have left then but I went ahead and asked if he could provide my measurements. He looks me up and down and says that since COVID, he no longer takes measurements. Y'all, this maskless man owns a business that does alterations. The irony of IT ALL. He should have just said no. I paid $24.90 for an original hem. The picture speaks for itself.. these brand new jeans have been ruined. How can an alterations shop mess up such a basic task? I returned to the shop to discuss the issue with the gentleman at the counter,(Ismail?). He was immediately defensive saying it was normal, that I needed to pull the leg down. I tried it on so he could see (picture not enough?), he then said that I simply needed to press it. He pressed it, it was still crooked and so he said it must have been defective from the manufacturer. Then said he'd be willing to take it to court. I asked for a refund, and he finally offered to fix it. I said no because I don't trust them after this, especially if he only offered after I asked for my money back. So, a rework or nothing is all he could offer. The shop turns work around quickly, but they are also priced above average for poor work. They also won't guarantee the crap work they do. The $25 was a loss but I know to stay away from this place from now on. read more

One dress, I needed in 3 days, was a bridesmaids dress bought from David Bridal. The second dress was a cocktail dress bought online but it arrived on a Wednesday, I came to have the dress altered on a Thursday afternoon, and I needed it by Friday noon. I took a chance with this place, because it's located close to where I live and I needed something altered quickly. I definitely regret it. After I pointed out an issue I had with Ismail's work, he got extremely defensive and refused to fix his mistake without charging me the same price I already paid for the original alteration. During our disagreement, he actually told me his job as a tailor was not to make sure the clothing fit appropriately on my body. Why would you ever want to go to a tailor that thinks like this? Getting my clothes tailored correctly is more important to me than free cookies. Prices are above average. Customer service is terrible. I would go elsewhere. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews on here but I have gone to expert tailor twice now. My first experience I needed a dress altered by the end of the day he did it with no problem and even added a slit for me the price of that I believe was $40. Especially for it being done on such a time crunch I feel like that is a respectable price. I think at most it would've been $45 but I don't have my previous receipt. We were immediately greeted and helped when we walked in the door. The man spoke broken English but was very kind and offered us cookies! The man did a great job!! He is moving to a new location on March 31st. It is a small family business and they are trying to succeed. My boyfriend bought his suit early that night and needed it the next evening for an interview on Wednesday. We were just looking for a place to get it done on time and get it done right. He (and I) were extremely pleased with the work the man did. However, he only took cash and we did not know this in advance. We also didn't know the prices. It ended up being around $130 to hem the pant length, shorten the sleeves about 1/2 inch, and take in the mid back of the jacket. I've never had a suit tailored before but it seemed a little high. When we asked about the price he explained it had something to do with the time. All in all, we needed it done in less than 24 hours and the man did a great job! EXCELLENT place to get your pants hemmed! After searching for over a year in Katy, TX I finally found a place that actually does alterations in a timely manner and does it with a smile. I used G & L Alterations in the past but I wanted alterations done quicker and it's a little tiny bit far from where I live. First, the owner, Ismail, is incredibly sweet and welcoming that other dry cleaners/alteration places should take note of. He offers cake and a drink for you including coffee, water or soda. I can't even get my regular dry cleaner of one year to even say "Hi" to me let alone getting a cup of water. Second, the quality of workmanship on my pants were surprisingly good because he kept the original hem, which I thought was impossible to do since my last alterations person kept saying they can't do it. The hems on two of my pants have a drawstring cord (they're workout pants) so I was so happy that he did it! The stitching is solid and obviously done by a true professional. Third, I took all 3 of my pants to him on a Monday and got them back Wednesday morning. If you want "1 Hour" alterations you ask for it but I wasn't in a hurry. So, I read a review by a person complaining about being deceived by the title of the place, but I'm a rational person and if you expect him to alter a freakin' WEDDING dress in one hour then you're living in a fantasy world. He doesn't use a magic wand. I think the prices are reasonable. I paid around $42 for three pants with original hem alterations. In the past I've paid between $12-18 at other places. Overall, I'm so happy it didn't take 2 weeks to get my alterations done unlike every other place I've been to. The customer service is excellent and the quality of stitching is fantastic. I highly recommend going with these guys. I needed my suit jacket from express tailored. I took it here and they had it done quick. The price was a little higher than I expected, But I was really happy with the quality of the work. You get what you pay for in this industry. Don't trust your expensive clothing with someone who is going to do the job cheap. The jacket was not damaged whatsoever. It looks so much better now that they tailored it to my body.
