I had been told by her other vet that the problems she was having could be due to needing a teeth cleaning. During the week of her initial visit with this clinic her breathing sounded congested. Long story short she had cancer and ended up passing away. I came to this clinic 3 times in the span of two weeks. Friday 7/3, At the initial visit I made a follow up appointment to complete tests needed for the dental for the following Friday, 7/10. Wednesday 7/8, I was told to make a visit with urgent care for a CT scan. She was given fluids and medicine to help her eat, her face was asymmetrical which prompted the urgent care referral. The plan was for me to get her a CT scan before her dental, if I was not able to get her into a CT scan before then to move forward with the dental cleaning. On Friday 7/10, I came in for the blood draw with her. I had received a confirmation email the day prior stating we had an appointment. The clinic had lost the appointment time. I was told that we weren't carrying through with the dental cleaning since they did not think she would be able survive being put under anesthesia, which was news to me as I was not informed of that on Wednesday. My cat was declining and I wanted someone to look at her to to further assess what was going on, I was told to come back at 3pm when our appointment was at 11- they were able to accommodate having a doctor come look at her after I advocated for keeping our confirmed appointment that was set up by the clinic. I was then told she had cancer. I was told I could pay the portion of the care plan that we used instead of for the whole year since she has passed. I was told I could return the Revolution Plus they gave me because it was unopened and have it removed from my care plan payments. I returned it last weekend (7/25) and was informed by staff they were unable to provide any proof or documentation that I returned the item. I've emailed the care plan provider on Monday (7/27) and Wednesday (7/29) and they have not responded to me stating that the item was received. I had an incredibly dreadful experience at this clinic. I would not recommend them to others. To me, communication was lacking multiple times throughout this experience that was stressful to begin with.

Dr. Sven blends his knowledge with a deep compassion for animals. In my case, Dr. Sven took an extra precautionary test when I brought my cat Scotch in for a dental cleaning. In this test, they found an issue with his heart. If my cat had been put under that day for his teeth cleaning without this test (which not all vets do), he would have likely died under anesthesia. Dr. Sven went the extra mile to ensure the safety of my cat & saved his life. Dr. Sven brought in a special cardiologist to help me diagnose heart disease & get my cat on the meds he needed. It gave me several more beautiful months to love him and to say goodbye. What a gift that I will always treasure. When it was time to say goodbye, their entire team was supportive and kind and provided their services with such grace. They handled my sobs with hugs and understanding. Thank you Betsy and Sabrina. I've brought my dog and cats there for routine care visits & I never feel pressured to purchase unnecessary services or products. They focus on your animal and what they need, not what they don't. This vet office has a small town feel where you will feel like family. I can't really rave enough about them. If you're looking for knowledge, personalized care and reasonable prices to boot, bring your furry friends here. One visit and you'll see what I mean.

Last week, my cat did suddenly fall ill. I'd never had a sick pet before, and was immediately panicked on what to do. I always brought my cat, Toast, to Dakota Vet for all his regular appointments so at the very least, I knew to start there. All his past appointments at Dakota Vet were fantastic. The staff are so sweet and truly care about animals. They don't try to overcharge you or make you feel bad/pressured about what to do. They understand how hard it can be to manage a sick pet. When I brought him to Dakota Pet again for his illness, I experienced the same thing. The staff were awesome at helping me talk through his symptoms and determine the best solution for him. They explained everything they did, every step of the way, which I really appreciated. They put up with my mother and I calling to make sure we knew what was going on and were extremely patient with answering all our questions (and we had a lot lol). Dr. Reinicke was great at caring for Toast and helping figure out what may be going on. She provided lots of options, talked through each of them, and handled Toast fantastically. I really appreciate Dakota Vet for helping my cat and I during the uncertainty of his illness. I'm happy to say that he's improving now, and I can't thank Dakota Pet enough for all their help!

They don't rush you through and they take time to ask if you have any questions. Connor Dougherty, DVM was the veterinarian I met with at the first visit and it was his demeanor and kindness that made me switch our dogs to this vet. He also did my yorkie's dental procedure (see experience below) and has been wonderful in the aftercare. The front desk receptionist is so kind, professional, and caring as well as all the staff I've interacted with in just a few visits thus far. Detailed Personal Experience: I recently got a 2nd opinion from this vet on my almost 9 year old yorkie's (Ollie) teeth and decided to transfer both of our dogs to this vet. They are so kind and accommodating, give you opportunity to ask questions, don't rush you, and take the time to really explain things and ease your concerns. Ollie had his teeth extraction procedure done on October 5, 2023 and it went well. I was so nervous as this was my first time leaving him at a vet and first time with him having a procedure (his neutering was before I rescued him). They really helped reassure me. They called during the procedure to inform of more necessary extractions and provided updates on how he was doing. When I picked him up, Jenna (Vet Tech) did a wonderful job of explaining aftercare instructions and answering our questions. One of their Vet Techs (I'm sorry I don't know their name) told me how she wrapped my Ollie in a blanket and cuddled him when he was waking up. I had a hard time not tearing up and it makes me emotional as I write this, to know that they cared for my baby in the most compassionate and caring way. I called today with concerns about coughing and they explained it's pretty normal due to intubation during procedure to have some irritation or soreness in the throat for 24-48 hours. They said they were going to call today (Friday) for a check-in and I beat them to it with this call and that they'd reschedule the check-in call for tomorrow (Saturday). So incredibly thankful to Marschall Road Animal Hospital for taking such good care of my Ollie.
