For example a few us did not like our tree branches because it was too thick. He told us why our branches were thick and then told us the technique to thin our branches out. I know a few of us were OCD about our painting and Adam had a lot of patience with us. He also took a blank canvas and let the class practice brush strokes, leaves, birds, etc before painting on our own canvas because many were scared to mess up their paintings. The only negative about the experience was the restaurant that was hosting. Saddle Creek Woodfired Grill is a great location however, the lighting is bad and as it darker it got outside, the harder it was to see in the restaurant. Overall I enjoyed the whole experience and definitely want to do it again.

They also provide…read morenutrition classes and 1:1 personal training, but I stick with CrossFit classes which I just recently started doing here and I'm loving it! There were numerous things preventing me from starting sooner, for example, age, being out of shape, old injuries and frankly I didn't want to work out around a bunch of 'roid-ragers...people acting cocky and throwing weights around, etc. I was feeling shy about trying and not really knowing what CrossFit is and worried that my advanced age would cause some judgement from others. Boy was I surprised! This place couldn't be any further from what I envisioned...a good lesson about not letting worry get in the way of my best life. It's non-judgey, family-friendly, in fact whole families workout together, and there aren't any 'roid-ragers. Further, everyone competes against their own personal best. There are a wide range of people who workout here, some extremely fit, some more fluffy, some with injuries, but everyone is trying. In addition to Coach Nikki and Coach Ricky -- who help explain the exercises and best postures for movement and to prevent injury -- everyone else is super helpful and fun to talk with, too. I waited a few years too many to get back into working out. If you're even considering getting in shape or staying in shape, you should visit. CrossFit is only $75 a month. They have an after-school program for the kids that keeps them socialized, fit and in shape, and they will pick up at some of the local schools. There are also speciality programs for kids to improve in specific areas, such as baseball. If you're tired of sitting on the couch looking at your phone, and/or thinking you should be working out, you should try CrossFit, it's way more fun than I thought it would be. Just make one visit, you'll see. They have classes at 3 or 4 different times a day, so one of those should work with your schedule. The class times I'm sure about include, 5 and 6:30 am and 5 pm, but I believe there may be a 6 pm class too. Once you sign up, you gain access to an app that lists all the workouts in advance so you know what to expect. The app shows someone performing the task and it makes it really easy to document your progress ...after familiarization...it takes about 1 minute to document what you've accomplished, then you have a baseline for your personal best and you compete against yourself from there. Also, there are online resources to watch someone else do the exercise to standard if you just don't feel like you're getting it. The added benefit is that this is right downtown, so it's probably within a 10-15 minute drive of many of the homes in Cabot. Hope to see you there!

So when I'm home for the holidays, I of course had to find a place to get my ride on. I found Clique Cycle after looking far and wide. Definitely think that Clique Cycle fills a niche in the LR fitness market, where boutique fitness hasn't quite hit its stride (yet). Their classes are hard, and if you're a beginner, I think it can be a little hard to follow since a lot of their moves take a lot of core and experience on the bike. However, they definitely emphasize taking things at your own pace, which I think is awesome. Definitely breathless and sweating every time, and their moves are fun and unique. A couple of cons. It can be hard to hear what the instructors are saying sometimes, and if you aren't familiar with their rotation of moves, it's easy to feel like you're always behind or off the beat. They also focus a lot on fast feet, and I think there could be more power songs incorporated for a more balanced ride. I think their arms song could be a bit more challenging as well. And I also wish they had SPD clips in addition to the Look Deltas they have. (No Tiems here!) The best thing about this place is definitely the community. You can definitely tell this place has a lot of regulars, and the instructors know a lot of riders by name. Definitely a great option if you're looking for a studio that is heavy on the choreo and has a club-style setup (less HIIT). They also have a separate flow class that's floor-based.

full disclosure: i have never been to this gym…read more however, as someone who travels monthly for work, this looked like a good fit for my needs. upon further inspection, i noticed that all the classes are meant for people who have the time and money to go to classes between 9-5 with one or two classes available after 5. most of the ones i could take were canceled. with this information, i tried canceling my subscription for which they "couldn't do anything about". oh well. a $60 lesson learned in elitism.
