Great espresso and espresso drinks.. HOWEVER the service is terrible. The baristas aren't friendly and make it feel like you're bothering them both just by being there and when you let them know their out of drip/creamer/sugar/etc. Today, after receiving the wrong drip coffee roast (which I chose not to fuss about), there was dust and what looked like crumbs in my mug, but, because of the attitudes of the baristas, I felt like I couldn't ask for a new one. I wanted to like this place as the coffee is usually nice, and it is very cozy and cute, but after today, I won't be coming back. read more

What to say that hasn't already been said. LSC has been my wife and I's neighborhood coffeeshop for 6+ years now even though it isn't even in our neighborhood!. When I first moved to Bellingham LSC became a place for me to go to at the end or in the middle of stressful days and still continues to be that place for me, Smiling faces always greet you and have for 6 years even though there has been staff changes throughout the years. The drinks are always good ( I recommend an 16oz Iced toddy carmel latte, introduced to me by one of the owners a few years ago) and the staff will quickly learn you and your drink. The atmosphere is quaint and the building breathes of the history of Bellingham since it's been around since the late 1800's. The Coffee is good but what keeps me coming back here are my barista's and the community feel I always get when I walk through the door. It's like Cheers but only in Bellingham! read more

Love this little gem. It's calm, cozy, and out of the way of the busy coffee places. The coffee is good and it's the perfect place to sit and talk to a good friend or study. There are games in the other room and they have bagelry bagels and good soup. Perfect rainy day place. Parking is a little hard but worth it. read more

Anna and Company run a great coffee hangout. The above-street level vista in a cozy setting complete with big windows, high ceilings, and corner location make for a great spot to sit and sip. Living in the lettered streets for a while, I really REALLY wanted to like this place. It's cozy, cute, and in theory should be great. I have given it several tries, and on occasion still do because I am hopeful- but I have had some of the worst coffee ever here. I don't really understand all the other reviews, because honestly, a lot of it has been basically undrinkable. The only thing I have had good experiences with here are the machiatos- maybe they are trained to pull good shots just for those? Because their coffee tastes good in them! In everything else however, it tastes like hot dirt water. Not just kinda bad, but terrible. It isn't hard to pull good shots, and it makes all the difference. Do not get an americano here, or a latte for that matter. Iced drinks are probably the worst, and they won't want to put anything in your drink for you to make it even slightly passable, so it's difficult. Which is the next frustrating thing: several times I have ordered and asked them to put a bit of cream and sugar in it, to which they reply, the cream and sugar are at the back. Really? You have them right there. If someone asks you for it, maybe just do it! Even when I asked again if she would just do it, she insisted. One time I asked for honey in an iced americano, which you have to melt in the espresso shots, and when she handed me a fully iced drink and pointed to the back, I finally gave up on this place. Between the bad drinks and lazy service it has lost all of its charm. read more

I really tried to like this place. It being Bellingham and wanting to stay local, I had high hopes. A couple girlfriends and I arranged to meet here once a week for a book study on Friday mornings. We did this for eight weeks. My order was pretty consistent: espresso con panna or tea, and a scone or bagel. The only reason they get two stars was for the espresso. It was consistently delicious. Every time they offered to toast my scone, however, they burnt it. After the third week, I gave up and just asked for it plain. This disgruntled them. Never once in our eight weeks there, did either one of the baristas smile when taking or delivering an order, not even when I came to the front counter to get it to save them a trip. I was cheerful, said good morning, smiled at them, but it was never returned. They looked upset to see me come in. I observed them smiling and interacting positively with other customers, so I don't know what I did to particularly piss them off, but maybe you'll have better luck than me. My friends and I decided that if they don't like to see us come in, then we won't. We'll be taking our business elsewhere from here on out. read more

This is an okay coffee house. The girls that work there are nice, but they don't have much pep early in the morning. Just a smile would be nice! Also, make sure they hear your order right, I ordered a vanilla latte. I didn't say iced, but that's what I got. The coffee is okay, but it was more like drinking coffee flavored milk. I went to this cafe for the very first time today, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I ordered hot chocolate, and was very excited to find that they are one of the few places that offer almond milk as a dairy substitute. The ambiance is relaxed and even though there were quite a few people there, the atmosphere was still quiet. It would be a great place to do homework, read a book, or get some work done. Their drip coffee (which we got to go) was also fantastic. With great coffee, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere, I would highly recommend this place to visitors and Bellinghamites alike. Staff were cool, and the drinks were alright, I guess. I was kind of bummed to find my mocha, while hot, tasted mostly lie chocolate and milk with nearly no espresso flavor. After finding my girlfriend's latte had a similar flavor profile, we were lead to ask if there was even espresso in our drinks. We had walked down the street by then, so we didn't head back. Best place in the world to get a coffee! There aren't many things better in this world than popping in, grabbing a latte and a blueberry scone, and settling down with a book and some music at one of their tables. Nice artwork on the walls, very friendly baristas, and a comfy, Bellinghamster style aura make it all the better. I even wrote an essay on the place for my English assignment as my favorite place in the world. Bellingham is PACKED with coffee houses and drive through coffee. Unfortunately, much of it indifferently served in paper cups by unskilled baristas using automatic machines. Lettered Streets, however, is the real deal. The espresso is excellent, a every cup a thing of beauty. This place was actually pretty great. I've only been given the chance to go there once, and yeah, they made my drink differently than what I ordered (pretty sure I just wasn't clear on how I wanted it, so easy mistake.), but at the same time, what they gave me was delicious. The atmosphere was incredibly Bellingham. Cozy, unique, a little bit of the quirkiness that you find when you even just meet someone from Bellingham for the first time... I was lucky enough to be able to go here on a beautiful sunny day with my hubby, which made it all the better. All in all, I'd definitely go here again. Walking in, I was immediately impressed by the open, airy space. I was even more impressed by the POT of tea for $2.17 (includes tax) that I received - finally a shop that doesn't charge tea drinkers more for tap water! The internet is reliable, the music is good, and I am definitely coming back! read more

On first inspection, I thought "oh how nice and quaint", yet after sitting in the shop for less than ten minutes I wanted to pull my hair out. No outlets, crammed seating, and loud loud loud the whole time. But, I gave it another chance and while standing in line, listening to someone's little dog bark (inside the shop) I gave up and left before ordering. I'm all for dogs in stores, I have one of my own, but barking inside...not ok. If the atmosphere is unbearable the coffee is pointless. read more
