I have been going here for lover 5 years for my cakes. I'm sure this girl that made my cake is New. I say that because the cake TASTED HORRIBLE for the first time and the writing on the cake was like a kindergarten, it wasn't centered and my daughter who's the birthday girl was very unsatisfied. My daughter told the girl her concern about the writing as well as it being centered, The girl response was that she couldn't do it. My daughter is not conversational. She's only 20 and she respects her elders. I was on the phone so I couldn't go in there to correct the problem being that I paid $95 for a cake with chicken scratch handwriting. I immediately called up there the girl at first tried to make it seem like someone else had wrote it also told me my daughter said it was OK and then when my daughter starts speaking and said no, I did it. I told you , you said you couldn't fix it then she went on to tell me the truth and just say oh well it will take a long time but if I came back up there, she'll fix it. We stay away in Converse, Texas, Lettys is on Fredericksburg. Why do I have to drive my gas back over there for you to try to fix the cake? This is the day of her birthday. We have prior arrangements and why would you say you can't fix it but now you can fix it. The girl told me she'll call me back to see what we could come up with. She never called back. I called talk to the owner. I believe she shows me a half cut video of the girl closing up the box not the full conversation that her and my daughter had when my daughter mentioned to her that she wanted the writing fixed. So since she only gave me half of the video because my daughter was being nice and respectful with the girl and they were talking, she felt like my daughter was OK with the cake. The cake visually was beautiful, although the design was not what I chose, and they put chocolate with nuts as part of the decoration with one of my guest having a severe allergy to nuts. when cutting into the cake you could tell it wasn't fresh, there was cracks indicating the cake was old as a result nobody ate it since it was stale. If I could give a 0 I really really would. This was the worst experience of my life. Let me just start by saying if you can't do something, then please don't do it, it's not worth the hassle of continuously doing it wrong. I called and sent them a photo of what I wanted the cake to look like and they gave me a price of $130 which I thought was fair considering what the cake should've ended up looking like. I came on pickup day and it looked nothing like what it should've. It was actually so bad that I was too busy processing how much money I just wasted to even take a picture but there were just light streaks of a light green color around the cake. I asked them if there was any way I could cancel the order but they denied because they had already made the cake, which is reasonable, but they wouldn't even offer a partial refund for the terrible job. So I just asked them to fix it and actually make it look like the picture, and they literally said they could have it fixed in 5-10 minutes which I found really hard to believe so I told them I would just pick it up later. It took them over 2 hours and the photo attached was the result. The lady at the counter told me that that was the CLOSEST they could get to the picture because they weren't the original creators. I understand it's not going to be exactly like the picture but you cannot tell me that looks even remotely close. I showed the picture to friends and family and they literally laughed and said anybody could've done better, even a baby. I didn't want to be rude and explode in their faces so when I saw the result I just stood there and stared at the cake trying to come up with somewhat kind words to say, which was extremely difficult. Since the result was so bad I asked them if they could do something different and just have the bottom tier green and the top tier white but they said that would be too much of a change and they would have to charge me extra so I ended up just having them make the whole cake green. This was no way in hell worth $135 and nothing could convince me it was. If they couldn't do it they should've turned away my business instead of exploiting a literal teenager and making her believe that she would have a nice birthday cake. Now let's wait and see if the cake is edible! Edit: They knew it was a birthday cake and the first attempt had happy birthday on it with names but then they took all the birthday stuff off, making it no longer a birthday cake and now just a cake that's been through thick and thin. read more

If you are looking for great service i do not recommend lettys cakes. the cake was good but not what i ordered. i tried to explain to ms. Maria over the phone that i placed an order for a pink cake with strawberry filling for a gender reveal. she insisted it was pink and sent pictures to show me what a white cake looks like. the pictures i sent of my cake are very much white and she kept insisting it is pink. I do think some of the filling bled into the white part, but that is still not pink. She also stated if i sent pictures she could process a full refund, which she did not. She also did say i ordered one day ahead and stated she told me she was not able to make a pink cake in a day. which is not true. the payment was sent on a wednesday and picked up on saturday. that is not ordering one day ahead. My whole family was confused when we cut into the cake because it is a white cake. i'm very disappointed with the service and how Maria handled this situation. i've also seen in other reviews others' saying she will not process a refund for anything. She also hung up on me saying she cannot continue because the cake is "pink." Even saying "you can't tell me you see a white cake like come on." I found that very rude and unprofessional. This bakery did a phenomenal job on my daughter's birthday cake. It was basically identical to the photo I emailed them and I ordered it on a Monday for pickup that Friday. The cake itself was delicious. I requested white cake with cream cheese filling and vanilla flavored icing. It was light, not too sweet, and everyone loved it! The frosting tasted like it had a little lemon in it that was unexpected but it was actually quite tasty. They were reasonably priced too and about $30 lower than other places. Zero stars if I could! I'm beyond frustrated and mad. Three weeks before my wedding day I was forced to look for someone to do my cake after I realized Lety's cake had no idea what I wanted even tho I placed the order and gave them a deposit on April! When my wedding planner called to make sure everything was good and to set a time to drop the flowers and the stand i wanted them to use, she (my wedding planner) realized they were talking about two different things. Yes they acknowledge I needed to bring the flowers but they had a completely different design. Maria, who is the person we had communications with, kept referring to us to look at the contract and the picture in it but our copy had no details whatsoever. Just the word "pic" on it. Theirs was full of details but the wrong details. My cake have 4 different shapes and her order had round cakes. My cake was supposed to have an elevation between two tiers and their copy didn't had it. When I asked her why my copy is so different , Maria couldnt give me an explanation other than "I don't know" and the "don't worry". At that point I was like uhmmm I don't trust them. I mean, would you? We had 3 conversations before this last one. What would guarantee me that they will execute the cake as I wanted. And I KNOW the cake was not going to be EXACTLY like the design but the shapes and structure at least should be able to be the same. Well I asked for my deposit and they refused. She even send me a smiley face emoji which I take very offensive and as a form of mockery. Didnt even offered me other services to make it right. I had a bad feeling about this company from the first time but then I was kind of at ease because I saw some moms recommending them and I thought... I'm overreacting and it's wedding nerves. I should of follow my guts. I feel like if they weren't confident on doing a cake like mine then they should of told me before they took my money. Like other bakers have told me before. And at this point it's not even about the money but principle! Own your mistake and make your customer happy. I went to Blancas Bakery and they immediately understood what I wanted and even gave us 8 different types of cakes to taste. Their work looks legit and our copies of the contract are exactly the same. Even the baker came out to explain in detail the size of the cake and how they were going to make it even at NO EXTRA COST because of the weight. I never complain about services and just never used them again if I wasn't happy but this made me mad. This is not a $300 cake that you can oversee easily. Not I had the time to be cake shopping again. You don't brush your customers ideas like they don't matter and pretend you had everything figure it out when you in fact didn't. After what I experienced I saw that I'm not the only one disappointed on this place and Maria's lack of understanding. read more

I had ordered our wedding cake from this place because many of my family members had used and recommended their service, they even made my little sisters quinceañera cake, and other vendors had told me about this place so I figured they were a good small business that we could support. We were supposed to get married today, June 19, but due to the global pandemic we were forced to postpone our wedding until November. I called all my vendors and they ALL worked wonderfully with us and were super understanding and helpful, EXCEPT for this place. I called a few weeks ago to tell them about the situation and the lady that I spoke to was not willing to work with us at all, she told me that we needed to pay another deposit for the new date and that we had to pay the whole amount in full, on top of that she informed me that we lost our original deposit. As I tried to explain that this situation was out of my control and that we were also affected by all this (my fiancé is the only one working) she kept speaking over me and interrupting me as if she really didn't care. She kept telling me that THEY had been affected too, and I told her that I totally understood and that I wasn't trying to cancel my order just postpone it, needless to say she was not helpful and didn't care to understand. One would think that during this crisis people would be more understanding but all THEY care about is their money. I lost my original deposit but they have lost a client and as I continue to talk to vendors, family, and friends I will make sure to mention this horrible experience. I found Letty's 9 months ago at the San Antonio Bridal Expo and scheduled a tasting shortly after looking for my wedding (cup)cakes and grooms cake. The cakes at the tasting were delicious and the lady who helped me was very friendly; I was excited to order from them! Their pricing for cupcakes was (is) unbeatable!! When I provided details and showed pictures for my grooms cake idea - a drum set design for 40 people - I was told it was impossible to do at that size and they could only do it for 90 servings - that's a HUGE difference. So unfortunately I had to order that from another baker. So, I went ahead and ordered the cupcakes (and some cookies) but was given slight resistance concerning delivery. I ordered 140 cupcakes and was told I would have to pick them up - that they only deliver wedding cakes. My response was "But this is for my wedding, which is at 1100 AM." So, luckily the woman on the phone conversed with someone and they agreed to deliver. (Yay!) The wedding was this past weekend, and of course it was hectic and I did not have my phone on me that morning. After the wedding, I had a voicemail from Letty's shop left at 1110AM wanting to confirm that delivery was supposed to be at 11. It was surprising because I had called twice in the 1 month prior to confirm all the details, including delivery time and location. Right before the wedding started, my coordinator came to me concerned because no cake had been delivered yet. I thank God that they went ahead and delivered (I'm assuming during the ceremony) and didn't just wait for my call back because when I arrived at the reception the cupcakes and cookies had been set up. So, basically - delicious cakes and cookies, AWESOME pricing. Just needs to have a better note taking system so there is continuation for all the vital details. read more

Maria is the person in charge of taking the orders. She is difficult to communicate with and makes the ordering process confusing and unnecessarily difficult. It is hard to know if she is understanding what is being ordered and makes the process of getting a cake at Letty's a complete nightmare. read more
