Went to Levant Cafe & Grill last weekend after hearing rave reviews. The restaurant concept is tad confusing; you walk up to the counter and order your food, making it seem like it's fast casual. But instead of handing you your food after building it in front of you, hubs and I sat and waited around until our food was then brought to us? Just felt like measure to cut out wait staff. Aside from the concept, the food was decent and satisfied my Mediterranean food craving. The fries and my bowl did not disappoint. However, the falafels and hummus plate were the most expensive thing we ordered and honestly not worth the price when it comes to flavor and texture. And the baklava, not too much to write home about. All things considered, I'd return for a takeout lunch but as for it being my go-to Mediterranean place, it's not. C+ read more

We've been looking for good kabobs ever since Pars Deli closed. Found Levant tonight and had to try the steak kabob and the ground beef kabob. Loved the ground beef one the best. Full of flavor and not over cooked and dried out. Rice was perfect as was the fluffy soft pita. The steak kabob was not a very good cut of meat as it had gristle and fat. We'll go back for sure. The high reviews are really confusing and disappointing. While no one can definitively be the authority on any cuisine I have absolutely over 30 years of enjoying middle eastern (mostly Lebanese) foods and this was like the Taco Bell of Middle Eastern or Mediterranean food- which isn't an absolute red flag as Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fast/street food places are typically some of the best sources of cuisine; this, however, I couldn't finish nor recommend in good conscience. We tried all of their vegan and vegetarian options and were intending on feeding 3 people. The prices are way too high for the unexpectedly small portions which in and of itself is an insult to generous Medd cuisine. Fortunately none of us wanted to finish what we had because it wasn't fulfilling. The falafel wasn't bad but pretty dried out. The fries were horrendous and greasy, flaccid, and burnt- very unevenly cooked. The pita was the texture of white wonder bread and very odd for pita. The hummus was a bit grainy but didn't taste awful though the olive oil on top was not great tasting. The yalanji were the absolute best part of our order and I have had better but these are the only item from here I can suggest. The Lebanese potato was mushy and overly salty. Syrian moussaka was tepid and warmed up was better but not fresh tasting which broke my heart. The levant rice was...interesting: nice dry basmati texture but really under seasoned but generous amount of veggies and rly not the worst part of the order. The mixed makaly was decent enough but again too salty and uneventful cooking on the vegetables. Overall sad experience because the menu reads as exciting and diverse and maybe I'm biased and spoiled by my personal life experiences but at the very least I would expect temperature appropriate foods and even cooking and definitely better fries- FOR SHAME! Seriously Mediterranean and middle eastern eateries have some fry voodoo cus they are usually the best fries in the whole world. Sigh. Won't be returning unless a zombie apocalypse happens and our fave places have been raided already. read more

The best Mediterranean food I've ever had in my life! We are blessed to have this place near us.

I will start with the minus, because everything else served is top-notch; the shawarma meat was fatty (chicken) and gristly (Levant). Maybe it was the meat cutter's inexperience; I'd like to think that, rather than the restaurant knowingly serving low-quality meat cuts to a discriminating public. This is not an issue with the market leader in this space, Tino's. I can heartily recommend everything else- the sauces and spice palate are superb, as are the veggie sides. Mike is a hands-on proprietor, and will offer very helpful solutions to any moment of indecision you may experience when dealing with some of the more exotic offerings. All in all, I think the meat problem can be fixed, and then...Tinos, watch out! read more

This is our 2nd time exploring Mediterranean cuisine. What a hit it was a short drive from Round Rock to Cedar Park was well worth it. There were many choices to chose from. I chose the LEVANT SHAWARMA it was made fresh to order and the pita bread was very good I had the Jalapeño hummus that had great flavor and was not overly spicy. My wife had the LEVANT KOFTA KABAB that was cooked to perfection as well. Everything was made fresh right in front us you and then picked up at the end of the line where you pay for your dinner. Please don't worry if it is your first time to experiencing the joy of Mediterranean the cooks and staff are happy to explain everything to you. Ambience - very open store with a pretty big dining room and an open kitchen. There is tons of beautiful natural lighting due to half the walls being glass. The kitchen is setup cafeteria style so you can see all the options they have to offer. The menu boards are 3 large tvs tight as soon as you walk in. The main colors are soft colors of white and silver that gives it a very modern clean touch. It is a very nice looking store. Menu - Mediterranean food but with a twist is the impression I got. It has all the main staples but with what seemed like different takes on them. The have 4 main categories of entree plate, specialty, bowl or sandwich. All of which you can pick your protein and then sides. The one thing I noticed is there is a whole menu set aside for the different kind of sides you can choose. But the cool part is you can actually see and sample, any of the items. Yeah it's one thing to read the ingredients but I'm not super versed in Mediterranean or middle eastern food. So seeing them all was pretty cool. They aren't labeled, which would have been nice, but the guy behind the counter was super helpful anyways. The menu is solid with a lot of options and all the main hits. The do also offer some beers on tap, bottled beverages and a cool soda machine that isnt your typical Pepsi or Coke. Menu overall has lots of options and the fact I could see the items was a big plus. Service - big props here. The entire time i was here, from coming in to leaving, someone greeted and helped me. As I was at the menu board deciding what to get, 2 guys came by and both helped me with questions. One guy in particular, I'm guessing is the owner or manager, was incredibly helpful and super passionate. As I was deciding he told me to come stand in front of the food and ask away. He explained so much and did it with authentic care and not just going thru the steps. He showed me all the food, explained it and was just a funny guy. As he was on the he made sure that not a single guest waited in line. He was calling for cashiers, directing the kitchen and all the while doing in a fun and non dictator way. It's hard to explain but he made sure everyone was helped and wasnt waiting. This guy was really awesome. And his simple yet funny remarks made my day. Food - I got the Levant Plate with the 2 sides of some couscous salad and an okra tomato thing. Sorry I am not well educated on this cuisine. And my protein was the beef and lamb mix that came with onions and a non tzatziki sauce which was something new to me. The sides were good. The couscous salad was very light, fragrant and simple but tasted really nice. The couscous was cooked well and all the items came together for a nice clean fresh taste. The okra tomato thing was also good. Lots of okra which was good for me because i love okra. It had a nice flavor and consistency and was pretty good. The lamb and beef mixture was definitely not your typical mix like you get everywhere else. First off the meats were cooked well, nice and moist and had some great flavor. The sauce that came with was very unique to me as I have never had something like it. Most places always give you tzatziki sauce. But this was something else and it was really good. The mixture of onions, sauce and meat made for a very bold flavor that I really enjoyed. I loved this different way to have shawarma as it was something new to me. The meats were definitely the star and they were so good. Overall - I'm giving my highly prized 5 star for 3 main reasons. The first is the owner/manager guy that helped me was phenomenal and genuine. The 2nd is for the how awesome the food was based on it being a different take and it was all something new to me. And it was all really good. And I have eaten at quite a few Mediterranean places. The 3rd is the way the kitchen is setup. Being someone who doesnt know this cuisine well, it was awesome to actually be able to see what I am ordering beforehand. I mean it is cafeteria style which is kind of goofy but it works. Three stars to me means, I don't intend to go back, but you should still give it a try. This is a cafeteria style restaurant, not full service. The ambiance is nice and the restaurant is clean. The prices are fair. I've been three times and have had the Levant shawarma pita each time. This is not a gyro, but quite close. The first time I really liked, the second time wasn't my favorite, but last time the meat was itty bitty grisly pieces, almost like crumbs of unchewable greasy I don't know what. RIGHT after they served this to me, they brought out a new hunk of meat for the spit. I thought that was pretty crumby-- figuratively and literally. The sides are all quite authentic and I am not a fan of beets and turnips. There are a few types of hummus and an eggplant "spread," that were unpleasant to me. I really liked the yogurt and cucumber salad and they took it off the menu, due to people being disappointed that it was not tzatziki sauce, which is disappointing to me. Oh, well. At least the baklava is spot on. So back to my first sentence, try it for yourself, but my review stands at 3 stars. read more

There is something for everyone here and it's all healthy, delicious and prepared fresh daily. We frequently try different entree choices with different sides and we share a Falafel and Hummus with Pita plate. Don't miss out on the Zatar and other pita variations offered. The vegetable choices are numerous. Very interesting stuff and all wonderfully delicious. The servers and cooks are all well versed and can explain all of the dishes and how there are prepared. So I live close by and saw this concept open up. This location used to be Southwest moe's which closed down. I came here in the evening with a buddy and gave it a shot. Too many Mediterranean places popping up everywhere. Not sure if that's what people want nowadays. Overall it's a decent place. Nothing really exciting. Big extensive menu to pick from. I went with build your own bowl. Got chicken with multiple toppings. Place did not wow me that I could give it more than 3 stars. But it wasn't bad at all either. Growing up in Venezuela, I had access to lots of authentically delicious middle eastern food from the vast immigrant community that lived there- especially Lebanese food. I've been on the search for GOOD and AUTHENTIC middle eastern food in Austin and I'm so happy to have finally found it in Levant Cafe & Grill. Not what I expected. It's like a buffet and when I came in the main service person frankly was abrupt & rude. I ordered a plate and the plate was prepared before the protein was ready; the dinner came 7-10 mins later and the protein was dry. Very little sauce included on the meal itself, making it very unappealing. My feeling is Cava or Healthy Mary is a far better alternative. Went on a Saturday evening.. there were hardly any people.. good ambience, modern looking.. the owner was really sweet! we ordered chicken shawarma with sides of Levant rice and tabbouleh.. and a rice bowl with Syrian bulgur, Syrian fattoush and jalapeño hummus! The food was yumm! Seemed freshly made.. the best of the lot was Falafel, crispy and perfectly cooked! Levant definitely has some issues - from the ordering process to receiving our food! For example, the young lady working the front of the house had trouble understanding and speaking English which made the whole food ordering a long and arduous process. In addition, food quality was "okay" for the high prices! The chicken entre was good but the sides offered could be better prepared. The best Mediterranean food around! The food here is amazing! I had the beef & lamb shawarma and my wife had the chicken. The beef & lamb was full of flavor, spicy and perfectly cooked with no fatty pieces at all. The chicken was very good as well. The falafel at Levant was the best both my wife and I have ever had. Most places around, although the flavor is decent, have very dry and crumbley falafel, but here is was bursting with flavor and perfectly prepared so that it was still moist. My wife even commented that she could have just eaten a plate full of falafel. I'm not typically a fan of couscous, but had to try it after seeing it. Amazing! Better than any other I've had. I could have made a meal just from their couscous. It had so much feta, and was rich with spices and herbs. Additionally, the jalapeño and red pepper hummus (two of the three separate types they have) were outstanding, and the crispy homemade pita was ... comforting. It just made the both of us feel good and melt with each bite. Levant is definitely a place we will be back frequently! read more

Wow this place is awesome and everyone is so friendly and helpful! I'm not huge into jalapeño but my husband is so I asked how spicy the jalapeño hummus was and the owner (I assume) gave me a sample. Not too spicy so we ordered some. Their fresh made pita is really good too so it's always nice having that with your hummus. Hubby got the chicken shawarma stuffed pita which he really enjoyed with a side of fries. The fries weren't exactly fried fresh as we saw the cook didn't put them down in the fryer and they were just sitting from I'm assuming another order but they still had great flavor so I am not complaining!
