I had my first experience with Afghan cuisine, and it was fantastic! I'm already looking forward to my next visit! Food: I loved the Chicken Chapli Kabab and Qabuli Paluw--both were perfectly cooked. Service: The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming! Even though he was juggling orders and cooking all by himself, he still made time to chat and share some insights about Afghani culture and what inspired them to open their business. Ambiance: You can't miss the food truck--it's parked at the corner of a gas station. They've set up a few tables on the side of the truck for dining.

4.5/5 be aware that this is a good truck so parking and seating is limited. Ordered the Qabuli Paluw and they gave us a free side of fries. The rice had a mild flavor on its own and the raisins provided that sweet note that I didn't initially expect but was nice. The lamb shank was cooked extremely well and extremely tender to the point I could almost pull out the entire bone with little to no resistance. The flavor wasn't as impactful on its own as I had imagined, but was pretty tasty when eaten with the rice and raisins. That said, I slightly regret not ordering something else on the side; while the flavor and textures were nice, it did feel a little monotonous without something to occasionally break up the taste / get your taste buds excited to resume eating (kinda like the pickled radishes whenever you eat Korean fried chicken). Nevertheless, I will for sure be coming back to try their other dishes.

Delicious chapli wrap. Tender chicken marinated well and perfect accompanying sauces. Great service.

DELICIOUS. My wife and I had never heard of this spot and decided to give it a try for the first time. The food truck is located in the lot of a gas station. We actually ordered our meal over the phone--it was a smooth process, person picked up and took our order with no issues. The truck has just a couple of tables (literally two or three) you can sit at if you wish, but not much room for any parties larger than 4--we decided to take our meals home. I ordered the "Combo Chapli Kabab:" Ground meat chicken and beef patties, seasoned with herbs and spices, fried in oil with crispy exterior and juicy interior. Served with basmati rice, salad and hand cut fries. The portions on this plate were super generous, especially for the price. The seasoning in the meat elevated all the other components of the plate. They give you a choice of spice-level, I went with "medium" rather than hot. It was perfect, not too spicy at all, but a good little kick with every bite. The white sauce on top of everything was creamy and really brought the small spicy kick some balance. The fries were cooked just right, not too crispy and not too soft, and the side salad brought some freshness to the plate. To top off the quality and generous portions of the food, the service was also amazing. The two guys in the truck were super friendly, very polite and warm--I felt like a couple friends made my meal. Overall an amazing experience and a new spot that we'll be coming to regularly. Highly recommend Mealma!!!!

both items were good, the dumplings came with fries, which were a little overcooked but fine. The wrap was good, definitely recommend that! Service was really good!

Beef mantu were delicious - mild but savoury with a perfect textured dumpling skin. Paluw was wonderful, too... the rice was so moist yet retained fluffiness and the lamb, like everyone says, was falling off the bone. Owner is so lovely. Would be back in a second.

YES TO THE 5 STARS but why only 16 reviews!? Are people forgetting to review this amazing place?! I hope that's the case! *come back and drop your review and 5 stars!* We were in Pflugerville and wanted to try a new place and so glad we did- honestly what a hidden gem! We called the place to place our order and the gentleman who assisted us was really kind, he confirmed our order, let us know how long it'll take, and sounded happy/excited as if he was looking forward to seeing us! Love that customer service! I got the beef dumplings and ummm asked myself - why am I barely experiencing this flavor?! They were so good, the beef pa-AH-cked with flavor, the chickpeas?? the sauce?? So so so good. Oh yeah! You get a side of some delicious fries too. It's located at the Valero gas station, the seating area is small, but please don't let that steer you away, stop by and get you a plate that's filled with great flavor! You won't regret it.

Second round and damn, did that food hit the spot. These guys are doing justice to Afghani NYC street food. The beef mantus are just spectacular. The Qabuli Paluw was one of the best I've had recently. Pics don't tell the whole truth, there's a lamb shank hiding in the middle and it's cooked to perfection. I don't care who's watching, I'm sucking that bone marrow dry outta that shank. Skewers still not available but the chapli kabab plates with the delicious sauces, wraps, and burger ought to keep me busy the next few times. Service was excellent this time around. There's a small shaded seating arrangement as well.

    Chicken Dumplings (mantu)

I had lunch at Mealma Meena food truck last week, and I really enjoyed their dumplings. I had heard about this place from a friend. We are both crazy about dumplings, and we seem to be on a food-truck-in-a-gas-station-parking-lot kick, so we went to check them out. I got the chicken dumplings (mantu) and my friend got the beef dumplings. Both were so tasty! Chicken Mantu refers to an Afghan dish of steamed dumplings filled with spiced ground chicken and typically topped with a yogurt-based sauce and sometimes a tomato sauce. It's a variation of the traditional Afghan Mantu, which is traditionally made with ground beef or lamb. I have had many Asian dumplings in my lifetime, but these dumplings were very unique and so tasty! I love the sauce that came with them too. We tasted each other's dumplings and both were fantastic. These folks just moved down from New York and have set up shop in Pflugerville. Go check them out! The ambience is as good as it gets in a gas station parking lot. They have a covered table and chairs set up next to the truck, and it was just fine. Really nice folks. Great food! Cheers!

Food was amazing! Great portions and service. Perfect place for a bite of authenticity! Also, the tables outside brought great ambiance. Love the guy running it!

We ordered the beef mantu and qabuli paluw with lamb shank. The food tastes even better than it looks. Convenient and friendly service.

The kebabs are the true highlight...juicy, flavorful, and grilled to perfection. The portions are quite large as the hubs and I shared a wrap. We were sufficiently full after eating the chicken tikka wrap. Interestingly, the wrap came in a Shawarma King packaging with their contact phone number. So, I assume that Usta staff are sub-contracting from Shawarma King. Usta also has freshly baked bread and classic sides like hummus and rice paired with the main dishes. The restaurant has a homey, lived in feel. It has a few middle eastern artifacts sprinkled throughout the restaurant. The menu offers a wide variety of options, from Iraqi and Adana kebabs to shawarma and traditional Middle Eastern plates, so there are food items for both first timers and regulars who want to explore beyond the basics. They also serve flatbreads where you can have two different toppings. The food focus is on bold, traditional flavors rather than modern takes on middle eastern foods. On the desserts front, they have an assortment of desserts and several sections of ice cream. I had the baklava, which was surprisingly delicious...it was not eye-squinting sweet like a standard baklava. It was crunchy, flavorful, and had nuts that were substantial. Layla, my server, was so super sweet and welcoming. She pointed out that Usta provides its customers free tea. How cool is that? I cannot remember last time I received a free drink.

We got the lamb/beef kebab 1lb and first off the picture online is misleading. It shows for the catering of kebabs, not 1lb. Which is probably on me for not catching that, but that's fine. The kebab itself was just alright. Could have had more seasoning and there chunks of either fat or onions that were not pleasant to chew. The pita was the size of a mini pizza which is nice, but they were so chewy it was disappointing. The sauce was more watery than I would have liked and also not as flavorful. Overall, this was a miss for me.

Had their Chapli beef burger, chicken burger, hunter beef burger, tikka pizza, pistachio ice cream and classic falooda! Even though there is limited seating and mostly a take out place we decided to dine in. Very attentive service to make sure we were taken care of. Chapli burger - (didnt have the sweet chili sauce that it comes with since it was primarily for my kid)very decent sized patty, chapli had the flavor reminiscent of a traditional chapli - i think there was no egg in it but very good! Crispy chicken - again patty size was good. A little saucy but the sauce complemented the chicken well so cant complain. Good chicken piece and crispy without too much breading with a fresh bun, what more can you want! Hunter beef burger- a rare find. The hunter beef quality was amazing. The sauce is what brings it together. Its their mustard based sauce with some spices that give it quite a bit of kick. Im not a fan of mustard but would have this sauce again! All in all a very solid burger! Reminds you of the OG but the sauce is different for sure! Chicken tikka pizza - very fresh and gives you the vibe of a very nicely done home made pizza. Flavors come together with the sauce and cheese even though its chicken tikka. The spices on the tikka do not overwhelm the pizza which i think is the key to it being as close to perfect as can be! Pistachio ice cream was on point has the nuts in it which give it the natural flavor. There may be a slight bit of pistachio essence but very faint. Alot of ones available do not do justice like this one! Classic falooda - as good as having it anywhere in Pakistan. Not too much fuss and with all the ingredients that go with it and balanced and as they say truly a Classic! Definitely will be my go to whenever in Austin!

This time we tried a few different items including the Hunter Beef Sandwich, Club Sandwich, and a large pizza half BBQ Chicken and half Gyros. The Hunter Beef Sandwich was packed with flavor and layered generously with tender beef and fresh toppings, all served on soft, fresh bread. The Club Sandwich was a classic done right--stacked high with chicken, egg, crisp veggies, and creamy sauce, making it hearty and satisfying. For the pizza, we went with a half-and-half option. The BBQ Chicken side had smoky BBQ flavor with juicy chicken and melted cheese, while the Gyros side was loaded with gyro meat, veggies, and a creamy drizzle that tied everything together perfectly. The crust was nicely baked with a great balance of crisp and soft. Everything paired perfectly with their seasoned fries, which were crispy and well-seasoned. If you're in the Round Rock / Austin area, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. Consistently great food and a place I'll keep coming back to.
