I went by for a collab with them, tried the spicy shatta bombo - vegetarian pizza, It has the spicy flavour with crispy onions. Definitely satisfied the Punjabi in me. Since it's not actually a pizza, it has a soft and thicker base, it was light, fluffy and square shaped. Also tried the Garden Salad, which is fresh and crunchy too, makes for a perfect side with the pizza. Another must have is their labneh board, it had a pistachio dip which was rich and tasted yummy paired with focaccia sticks. Drink wise my favourite is pomegranate Ginger-MINJ mocktail - it contains the perfect amount of fizz and is not too sweet. Overall I had a great experience, staff treated me so well. And loved the beautiful and welcoming vibes. I went for an early dinner and I was really satisfied. What I liked most is that they had ton of vegetarian and vegan options!! The labneh board came with a yogurt base topped with sumac and honey, mint and parsley gremolata, and za'atar with pistachios. Every bite was light, bright, and fragrant. The hummus board was richer, layered with beef brisket, sujuk sausage, roasted cherry tomatoes, garlic confit, pomegranate molasses, olive oil, and tahini. Both boards came with bread that was impossibly fresh, crisp on the outside and soft inside. We wished they sold it on its own because we couldn't get enough. The (not) sandwiches were fully loaded and absolutely delicious. It honestly took us a minute to figure out how to tackle them, but once we did, we were in heaven. The beef was tender and juicy, paired with parsley pesto, braised beef, cherry tomatoes, pickled onions, tahini, and garlic toum. The employee was super friendly and welcoming right away. The boss started off a bit cold but later warmed up and was accommodating. The place is small, cozy, and has a nice vibe. We visited this place as I am quite a fan of Mediterranean flavors and their online menu looked quite enticing. Located a few steps away from Ossington subway, the Levant (not) Pizza restaurant stands amongst other african businesses. The host greeted us warmly and we were soon offered the menu. We ordered the chicken Sandwich and Hummus board- as recommended by the host. As we waited for our order, I checked out the place and was surprised by how big the place actually is. Though they have a small seating area inside i.e. 5-6 tables and have a few tables on the outside patio, the kitchen is enormous. The entire kitchen is 2 storey with tall ceilings. It almost gives you an industrial yet a warm feel.The vibe of the place is pretty chilled. As we waited, we were offered a Hibiscus drink, which was quite refreshing on a hot friday evening. We were also served a bottle of water and 2 plastic cups--- the only part we didn't like was that the cups were kept down stacked one on another instead of placed nicely on the table. It didn't feel nice to be served that way. 5 minutes later our ordered arrived and on first impression it looked wonderful. The Hummus board came with 4 Foccachia breadsticks and good portion of hummus that was sprinkled with beef bits, pulled beef, cherry tomatoes and had a generous swirl of Olive oil on top. It tasted homely and warmed our soul. I wish there were more breadsticks, as 4 bread strips didn't feel enough. The chicken sandwich was a fresh bun stuffed with pulled chicken and pickles. The bun was extremely soft and the chicken had amazing Mediterranean flavors. It just melted in our mouths. We also ordered the Pistachio cream Kunafa and it was absolutely delicious. It was hot, chewy with all the melted cheese, crunchy and not too sweet. To Foodies: Do try the place. The food is amazing and I have truly become a fan of the sandwiches. Each bite just melts in your mouth. They are celebrating their anniversary and as foodies we should support such independent restaurants serving great food. What a spectacular spot in the neighborhood. I had a great time at Levant (not) Pizza! We tried a spread of different items and was not disappointed by any of them. Everything was so flavorful and new. If you have never tried Lebanese or Palestinian food, then I highly recommend you come check this out. Just look at the pictures! For the photo of the mixed flavours, I got the following: Left to right and top to down: 1) OG Shawarma, 2) Meat Habibi, 3) roasted eggplant, tahini, mint (new item), 4) Honey, Labneh on Za'a tar. I ordered a harissa honey dip on the side (which was super thick - the way I like it). My favourite is the Meat Habibi. The mixing flavours in the sujuk & pepperoncini were super dynamic, and every bite was a pleasant surprise. The Shawarma was really decent too - I really enjoyed the mint and tahini flavours. I only wish that it had a bit more shawarma on it. Overall, I like the flavour profiles a lot. The only thing I think Levant pizza could really improve is that the dough was a bit too tough/overcooked. I visited Levant Pizza again with a couple friends because I was in the area, and I wanted them to be able to try the Shawarma Chicken Shawarma (not) pizza, but they didn't have the garlic sauce for it. We ordered a couple other (not) pizzas (Hot Honey Pepperoni, Sumac "Musakhan") to share as well as the pistachio kunafa. The pizzas we ordered tasty, and definitely worth trying once, but it was the kunafa that always has me returning. It is delicious! The space for dining is fairly small, so it may be better for takeout or dine in when the weather is warmer, as a cold draft came in when the door was opened. Otherwise, service was solid and the interior is pretty for a small storefront. I have yet to try their sandwiches, but I will definitely visit again to have them when I am in the area! read more

And the employee even came over and showed us how to use the self serve machines. I cannot truly put into works how amazing the staff was. It's a fusion place and the shawarma had pomegranate molasses which went shockingly well. The pita was soft but flavourful and soft. The colours of the establishment shine brightly as do the flavours of the food. They come on rice, which I got, and have an amazing selection, with even a little poutine action on the side. When I was here, I made sure to buy a giant bowl of red pepper dip. It went over really well, and came with a whole bunch of slices of their bread. I think it's the same type of bread that they use for the base of the pizzas, which are also very tasty. The really exciting part of the meal was the dessert, which I of course ordered at the beginning so that my daughter could enjoy it as we waited for the main. We had the tiramisu version, and this was the first time that cheese really tasted like a dessert to me. It was almost like combining a sweet baked brie, with some dragon's beard candy, with the syrup of tiramisu. Both pizza flavours were surprisingly bland. Since the dairy version listed gorgonzola as an ingredient, perhaps plant-based blue cheese could help here. My partner ordered the large shawarma sandwich and liked it, though was also disappointed by the lack of flavour. Top marks for the focaccia bun, though. See? The bread at Levant is epic. The summary: I wrote a 4 star review of Levant a year ago. Based on this visit, it's just not the same experience. We took our family visiting out of town to this little Lebanese-Palestinian pizza joint and can say we all left full and happy! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the pizza because we devoured it on site. Out of the 4 styles we tried I can highly recommend the spicy shatta bomba and the shawarma. Everything was fresh and they were able to make unique flavour combinations that just worked. The restaurant is modern, warm and welcoming. One of the owners was serving us as well and she had great energy, was very accommodating and had awesome recommendations. This Italian & Middle Eastern love smash up is a welcome addition to this area. Located pretty much just outside Ossington station, this tiny spot packs a whole lotta flavour! There are only a few tables inside, but the staff is so nice and welcoming. The pizza flavours are unique, Sicilian style dough - not exactly deep dish style, but more towards that feel. It soft but crispy and just delicious. You can get a slice, a whole pie (S or L), but the best part is that you can mix up 2 flavours. Decided on a small pie, 2 flavours-the popular Shawarma and the other half - Sumac. The Shawarma is packed with cherry tomatoes, arugula, beef/lamb, shallots, tahini, and hot sauce. Everything works and it just tastes so delicious. This is one of the popular ones and I can see why. The sumac has sumac caramelized onions, saffron, lemon whipped ricotta dolloped on top. You think it sounds strange and doesn't work...but it oh so does. It provides a nice freshness to it. The small pie was $22. Totally worth its price bc it's just so delicious. They have house wines imported just for them, so always nice to try something you can't buy elsewhere. There are a few other alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. On a Saturday night in August, after having spent a fun day in Uxbridge with a close friend, I drove down to Toronto and visited Levant for the first time. I had a craving for pizza and I had heard nothing but good things about the food here. Thank goodness I like to drive. I left Uxbridge at around 7 pm. Levant was open till 10 pm. I could get there just after 8 pm. I went for it. I did the backroads from Uxbridge until I got to the 404 in Stouffville. I took it all the way to Bayview-Bloor, and felt like a tourist in my hometown trying to soak in everything that I didn't recognize along Bloor. I turned right on Ossington and parked at a Green P across from Ossington subway station. I paid with my app. I then walked over to Levant. All patio seating was taken on the sidewalk on a cool, summery evening. I walked in and was greeted by the nicest woman. She presented a menu for me to peruse. I wanted a pizza slice. Shawarma was such a natural fit for my tastebuds. I got it. I also wanted sangria, which she was making as I was deciding. I asked her if there was a washroom. Coming down from Uxbridge was a long trip for my bladder. She was so kind to lead me up to the steps. It was past the large oven. She advised to be careful because the oven was super hot. Her colleague had also mopped the floor, so I really had to pay attention. The single stall was on the right. I thanked her. If my bladder could talk, it did, too. The washroom was clean. It's tiny, but roomy. I headed back downstairs and found a spot to sit down inside the eatery. Another man asked if I wanted my food for takeout or dining in. I said the latter. He was great checking with me. I got my shawarma pizza slice that was further sliced in half. The woman came over with my sangria and said that her batch yesterday was much better. I thanked both of them and dug in. My first bite of my shawarma pizza was heavenly. I immediately tasted the garlic confit. It was garlicky and made me so happy. The roasted lamb was delicate, but incredibly flavourful. It had arugula that wasn't your typical bitter version. I think that the pickled shallots, cherry tomatoes, and tahini drizzle helped make this pizza so delicious. There was parsley pesto, mozzarella, and provolone. It was amazing. The pizza slice was filling. It hit the spot and was exactly what I needed. Let's talk about the crust. It was thicker than your average pizza, but it's not average here. The pizza was airy. It was crispy when you took a bite, but it was delightfully chewy. I would eat the crust on its own. It was that yummy. The nice woman asked how it was. We talked about the garlic. She said that I chose a great pizza. I let her know that her sangria was excellent, even for what she considered to not be her best batch. She hoped that it was worth the drive from Markham. It was and then some. I bought a San Pellegrino limonata drink for the road. Payment was simple. I tapped my debit card and tipped at the counter. All went well. I wish that I lived closer. I came here with some of my friends since we were in the area and remembered that I loved Levant's pizza the last time I dined in. Upon arriving, we were greeted and sat down for dine in. We were the only table in the restaurant. Let's start with the food here. The dips are amazing and their focacccia is top notch. We got the Trio Dip Mezze and it's so refreshing and such a great start. Also got the large Hot Honey Pepperoni pizza that was cut into little rectangles and so great for sharing. It's the perfect balance between salty, spicy and sweet - highly recommend getting this. Don't forget about their delicious garlic dip. Now onto the other factors for this 3 star review. The service, although not terrible, was not great. Our table of 5 had one round of water and the jug was visibly empty while our server (or owner?) made multiple rounds to our table without grabbing the jug or giving us a new bottle of water. Upon receiving our plates, I noticed two of the plates were dirty with food scraps still on it and I asked for new plates. The server continued to examine the plates in front of me before taking it away, which I thought was odd. The two new plates that were then offered later also came dirty.. and still had food scraps on it. I decided to just dine in without using a plate and just use my hands to eat. The tables were sticky and I left with my elbows having a tacky feeling to my skin. The other really awful factor was that the restaurant had a lot of fruit fries that constantly landed on our faces and into our water. Not sure what the business could do about this factor, but it definitely didn't make the dining experience as great as my first time here. Don't get me wrong, the food here is delicious and very different from your traditional pizza so it's definitely worth a try. Levant is a small café and take-out place on Bloor West (near Ossington). There is a very small patio with a few seatings just right outside. They specialize in Sicilian pizza (which differs from Neapolitan / other regular pizza because it's often baked in a rectangular pan, and the crust is more akin to focaccia bread - thicker and fluffier). I tried the Upside Down "Maqluba" pizza, which is vegetarian but you can ask for it to be made vegan. The vegan Maqluba slice was topped with roasted Mediterranean cauliflower, eggplant, mushrooms, and sliced cherry tomato. The cheeses (mozzarella and provolone) and cream were ommitted. It was great to see that they were able to customize each individual-portioned slice to make it vegan. You can mix and match different varieties of pizza that they have on offer. They also sell sandwiches (with similar dough) and drinks on site. All their pizzas and sandwiches are made using focaccia bread as the base, which has a more fluffy, light, and airy texture compared to traditional pizza dough. So I was bike riding this afternoon and saw this restaurant I was eyeing to try for some time now so I decided to go in and do just that. It's a small spot, and fairly new I think, there are a few tables and chairs for indoor dining. Quite busy for a small place, and after getting their cheese pizza I can see why. I had a small cheese pizza that was fresh to order, the business owners I think were there making this? And they were really on the move the two of them. My pizza was so crispy on the outside, I don't know how they do this while still getting a nice soft air filled bread on the inside topped with a delicious sauce, and really tasty mozzarella on top. I put 1/2 chili flakes cause I like it spicy, but left the half alone so I can try what this pizza was meant to taste like. It was actually not greasy either. This was such a letdown I can't believe it. The pizza is so far from pizza I wouldn't be able to recognize it in a blind taste test. The pizza was extremely greasy, and the sauce (or lack thereof) couldn't do anything to mask the taste. My new favourite pizza shop. I went twice in one week and I drive out of the way to go ! The pizza is so delicious with plenty to chose from. Options of vegetarian, vegan and halal. Something for everyone. The customer service is so amazing both times I went they take the time to explain the menu to you. They regularly check up on you, without the feeling of being overwhelmed, to see if you need anything. In simple terms the customer service is top tier and better than most restaurants. The small shop has limited seating however they do have nice curb/patio seating outside which makes this shop even better. Beware, the pizza looks so good that everyone who passes by wants to know what it is ! Furthermore, the design has such simplicity that it is amazing which makes it so welcoming. Was fortunate enough to pop in for their soft opening. it's so nicely decorated, firstly - LOVED the tiles on the floor and walls - so elegant! Now for the most important part - the FOOD: We got the Hummus Bianca - which was so fresh, rich and flavourful, almost tasted whipped because of how smooth it was, what got me was the garlic flavour which was not overpowering. (mind you, I love garlic!) The fresh baked Pita was delicious, it was soft and warm too - just a lot of yum with each bite. I was with a friend and we shared the the pizza; she literally described it as an Arab Deep Dish Pizza. The flavour in the pizza was so unique - unlike anything I've ever tasted and I love the take on infusing already delicious Middle Eastern Food with Pizza. We had the Sumac "Musakhan" and The Shawarma. My favourite was the Shawarma but that should not be discredited to how delicious the Musakhan was - the flavour in the chicken was just amazing. We also got treated to both their dipping sauces - the garlic was my favour (told you, I love garlic!) Lastly, we had the Tiramisu Kunafa and the Not really Kunafa, Kunafa. This worked out perfectly for me as I am lactose intolerance, and the not really kunafa, kunafa is made without cheese. I did try the Tiramisu, it was a mouth full of goodness! For someone who's never tried Kunafa before, I definitely found a new favourite Dessert! All in all - loved everything about the food, ambiance and especially meeting the owners and hearing their story! Can't wait to pop in again! Levant - Pizza - Middle Eastern Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

This is Sicilian/Grandma/Detroit/Square style pizza (baked in a shallow casserole pan with ~1" high risen dough), primarily pan-Mediterranean, with minor yet notable Middle/Near East & North African influences. Essentially, it is Ancient Roman interpretation of Sicilian style pizza, due to the diversity of flavours offered. You can "Mix and Match" a large ($35, 14x14") with up to 3 "styles,", and small ($22, 9x9") with 2 "styles." The "styles" are the pizza profiles they offer, as noted below. You can also get 1 size with 1 style (L: $33-$36 & S: $17-$21). I would highly reccomend getting a large with 3 styles because the dough is an inch or so high, thusly very filling, and the 3 variations/styles of toppings all make a pie meant for sharing. It was arguably a 3-in-1 pizza. Also would reccomend trying the dips... Ordered a large with 3 styles: "Quattro Formaggi," "The Fig," & "Crispy and Creme." "The Fig" was the feature pie of the month and reminded me of what a rich (Ancient) Roman could have tried had this type of pizza been around then. They had the square-ish pie in 3 rows of styles. The dough here when I tried it, was not overly "white" in flavour, nor "sweet." It was highly "airy", and highly risen (~1" high). It had a very soft, yet firm, texture; almost like a firm sponge. Got it "regular-done." The underside was a nice darker golden colour. "Quattro Formaggi" ["red sauce, mozzarella, provolone, swiss, & okanagan goat cheese"] was savoury and well-marbled cheese combination with goat cheese crumble. Good overall. Great to balance out the other diverse styles; "The Fig" ["sumac walnut fig preserve, italian prosciutto, fresh figs, goat cheese, sumac oil arugula, balsamic & pomegranate reduction"] was out-of-this-world good. Ancient Rome vibes here, with the sweet, savoury, herbal flavours and diverse texture of the arugula, sauces, fresh pieces of figs & prosciutto & goat cheese... "Crispy and Creme" ["Red sauce, housemade kofta meatballs, mozzarella, provolone, persian fried onions, pickled red chilies, 7-spice creme dollops"] is another flavour punch: 2 cheeses, with kofta meatballs, (kofta is arabic for meatballs, roughly), sweet fried onions, pickled chilies, and a 7-spice creme (of some, respectable sort) on top. More savoury overall than "The Fig." Ordered 2 dips as well ("Harissa Honey Butter" dip and "Garlic Confit & Fresh Oregano" dip). Would reccomended both. Their dips actually accomodate the pizza's flavours and do not overpower. The "Harissa Honey Butter Dip" is (hot/pungent) red peppers (not sure if its multiple peppers, and other spices, or not) and honey. The "Garlic Confit & Fresh Oregano" dip was a superb garlic creamy dip. For about $35.00 (before tax, gratuity, dips), this is great value. In one pie, you get superbly done dough (savoury in its own right and not "bready"), a diverse taste of gourmet Ancient-Roman-style flavour profiles and textures (sweet, savoury, herbal, creamy, pungentness/hot, etc.), with the added addition of up to 3 styles in 1 pie! Is it better than Descendant Pizza? Respectfully, I'd say significantly so. Note1: I did try the following 5 appetizers ($9-$10 each); I found them generally "decent" overall and I would reccomend trying their large pizza with 3 styles firstly (Hummus & Muhamarra served with "sourdough za'atar focaccia sticks"): Harissa Honey Butter Cauliflower (sweet, smokey, spicy. served with 7-spice creme dip), Muhammara (roasted tomatoes, onions, peppers, pomegranate molasses, walnuts), Hummus Rosso, Hummus Verde & Hummus Bianco. Note2: I did try each of their 3 desserts and also found them "decent-good" overall too, $9 each (Tiramisu Kunafa was fav amongst our group): Traditional Kunafa (akawie cheese, mozzarella, rose & orange blossom water syrup, pistachio). Tiramisu Kunafa (kunafa with an italian twist - akawi cheese, mozzarella, marscapone, espresso syrup, organic cocoa dusting). Walnut Kunafa (cinnamon spiced walnuts, honey syrup). Note3: Did not try any sandwiches. Below is most of their pie profiles, and the diversity of toppings are worthy of dining out for, in my opinion: The Shawarma: Housemade parsley pesto, slow-roasted lamb, pickled shallots, mozzarella, provolone, bomba, cherry tomato, arugula, tahini drizzle. Sumac "Musakhan": Sumac carmelized onions, 7-spice chicken confit, saffron and lemon whipped ricotta dollops, fresh oregano. Meat Habibi: Ezzo's pepperoni, mediterranean sausage, kofta meatballs, mushrooms, pickled chilies, red sauce and cheese blend. drizzled with garlic confit & oregano sauce. [Vegetarian] Greens "Fatayer": Garlic confit, broccoli rabe, sumac, pomegranate molasses, shallots, and lemon & saffron whipped ricotta. Ossington was really popping this year and got super popular over the summer. So, I had to try out this pizza spot near Bloor West and Ossington. Levant serves a Sicilian pizza and they also have different italian sandwishes, kunafa and hummus as well. We got their Mix and Match pie which comes with two large slices, and we had to try their most popular Muffuletta sandwich. We got their Meat Habibi Pizza and their Shawarma Pizza, and both pizza were very unique. We absolutely adored their confit garlic and oregano dip that was paired with the pizza. The Muffuletta Sandwich was definitely a must try, and we love their genoa salami, ham and mortadella meat stack. It was for sure a great and filling sandwich. One comment about their pizza and sandwich though: both were a little bit oily and definitely left a lot of grease on our hands after we ate. However, overall, we would definitely still come and return to try their other pizzas and sandwiches. In the summer, they also have a cute little patio as well, which is a plus. read more
