Long story short. Had them build 2 BULLETPROOF 6L80 transmissions in daily driven 4x4 trucks. $9,000 paid to have them ship out to customers. Trans #1 failed DOA. Pat cussed me out and called my customer a liar. Metal sludge in oil pan and truck unable to move out of garage under its own power. Trans #2 failed less than a yr later. Can be pushed 10 ft while in Park Good luck having a warranty honored. read more

Well let's see first car pat did for me 1989 gta with absolutely no performance work to the motor at all n blew the trans 3 times in 6 months got to the point just sold the car n price $2500 back in 1993 So out of I guess stupidity n my uncle swore by him my grand national just wouldn't move original trans was built but just by general shop but motor was putting about 500 to wheels, 2nd day got car back wouldn't come out of second gear, well hmm guess they don't check trans level had to add couple quarts!! All said n done while I had my GN ther I had pat do my 87 irocz oem motor n a impala ss well just got car back out of a restoration shop n well same problem I had 4-5 years ago car won't come out of second gear on iroc-z so for 3000 to 3500 on a trans your better off going to a junk yard n get a used one with a 90 day warranty Guys a crook doas work then calls u n gives u a price totall crook n he well known all around no real race shops would dare give him ther work, car tech in Garwood real professionals built me 3 corvettes ranging from 760 to rear wheels never a problem, n stage 1 in pompton lakes have had him build me 3 grand national motors n trans never a issue! Plain n simple pat not hands on so your not getting his workmanship he use to have! You know reviews mean a lot n I would hate to see some young kid send his car ther n get screwed, so reviews are here to show people how people workmanship is n I hope this will help some car enthusiast like myself! My father has had some issues with the transmission that was installed by Level 10 transmissions in Hamburg, NJ. He received a notice in the mail regarding a computer update. So he returned to talk about that and the noise the car has been making since the installation as well as the fact that the transmission fluid is black. They came in from outside and started having a major argument. The guy then stated to my dad that he was "a cheap Jew, the warranty was now null and void, and for him to leave his store". I find this to be completely unprofessional, crude and ridiculous. Please avoid this business at all costs! read more

Limped my truck along for 5 months. A friend recommended for me to bring it to level 10. They loaned me a truck for a week while they worked on my truck. Picked it up today and my experience couldn't have been better. Pat and his staff were very friendly and kept me in the loop as my truck progressed. My trucks drives great with their bulletproof kit installed. Transmission feels smooth with quick shifts. No odd quirks. Drove the 3 hour drive home with a smile. Then Pat claims the fuse box is rotted absolutely a lie no issue there. Somehow broken wires appeared on his watch when towed to his shop. Then he had covid issues at his shop. Pat sent my truck to 94 Auto next door, his brother in laws shop with out my permission. Pat Barrett could not be bothered. His warranty which was like pulling teeth to get anything on paper. Who ever the girl is in the office lies to you as well. Pat charged almost $6,000 for his bullet proof truck trans that only lasted 3 1/2 months nothing but issues. Pat offered no solution. Is it a possible computer upgrade glitch? After the broken wire mysteriously appeared now it's a wiring issues and He doesn't cover that. Pat you should do the right thing and refund the money for a job you clearly failed at. Well I bought the 48re $5300 six months and 15 calls later they send to a local shop to have it pulled and rebuilt. The guy at the transmission shop locally says he could have used better parts for less.(of course he would ) a year later the back of the transmission breaks off and the transfer case falls going 75 with the cruise set. I call Pat and he tells me to pay for parts and shipping and they will fix it???? I bought this I read the quote they sent that said "bullet proof" but he won't warranty it . In the past I've had a few issues with this company, mostly with reliability of the products vs their claims of a "bulletproof" system. In the end racing is racing and auto transmissions for most imports won't hold up to serious abuse without constant maintenance. I told him to check the solenoid, safety switch he said he did all good. Pat claims fuse box is rotted that is the issue absolutely a lie no issue there. Somehow when truck was towed to his shop now all of the sudden wires are broken. Pat says he does not do wiring. A mechanic who does was out due to Covid. For that reason he dumps my truck to his brother in laws shop 94 Auto near by with out my permission. Pat could not be bothered to help me. To get a warranty was like pulling teeth on paper. I was charge almost $6,000 for this so called bullet proof trans for my diesel Dodge Ram. my truck. Pat offered no solutions did nothing for me. Is it a computer glitch? I then had my truck towed from 94 Auto I felt a conflict of interest since it is his brother in laws shop. I went to Andover Transmission, and Wayne could not believe what he saw. He found the issue Pat clearly missed and ignored. My truck was repaired and is running great. Apparently Pat never did the troubleshooting he claimed. Pat claimed a different code then what 94 Auto and Andover Transmission agreed on P0973. All Pat Barrett did was rip wires off and claim it was a wiring issue. The worst experience. Bottom line is, they know more than you ever will, and here is why... They our application completely wrong... a 1997 outback sport 2.2L is NOT the same, as they insisted, a 1998 Legacy Outback 2.5L. Then refused to acknowledge even the idea they could have gotten these parts wrong. They demanded pictures of everything before entertaining the mere possibility they could be wrong. We attempted to return a torque converter they DID get wrong, and we know this because we are not idiots, and was confirmed by another transmission builder that did take the time to just LOOK at the part in question. Dave at Level 10 won't admit even the slightest mistake in how he handled this situation. Not only in the application or parts provided, but in the three months since identifying their problem was in fact their mistake... will not do anything about it. During that period they finally after many MANY emails without a response he agreed to have us send back the incorrect converter, but then refused to accept the package when it arrived costing us over $130 in freight for both ways. Since it was refused they didn't look at the questioned part, and so still to this day insist it is correct. So, obviously we had to find the correct parts and service somewhere else. So they WASTE your money, they WASTE your time. They belittle you because they know everything and you know nothing. We still have the WRONG part, with NO refund, NO apology, and NO answer from the owner of the company explaining the negligence of his employees. These facts are all blatantly apparent from just the emails sent from Dave, and anyone that can read will come up to the same conclusion. All I want is a refund for shipping costs, but to quote the gal that answers the phone, "You'll never get that money back, stop calling us." 'Level 10' warning should be more like it. read more

I own a shop in the area. While I can do transmission overhauls myself, I really do not have the time so I sublet them. I try to support local business whenever possible. I asked them for pricing on a overhaul on a Jetta TDI and they were over 4k. I have another company I use in S. Hackensack which charges 2600. That's a huge difference. If their pricing was more in line I would give them a better rating. read more
