Beware, parts changers not mechanics…read more I brought my car in because it had a loud clunking noise that was heavy enough to feel through the floor. I didn't have time to deal with it so I took it in. They said I needed struts (which I agree were bad) and a CV axle, which took a week and cost me almost $2,000. They called me to say it was done and was all good except for a small squeak in the brakes. I picked it up after hours and wasn't even out of the parking lot and the clunking was still there over every tiny bump in the parking lot, there was no improvement whatsoever. And the mileage was the same as when I dropped it off, so they never even drove the car. I took it home and got under it the next day and found the problem in under 5 minutes and I'm not even a mechanic. The entire subframe was loose and clunking up and down when I pushed with my hand. A quick search on Google and I learned the bushings were broken. I replaced the bushings and now the car is like new again. I can't see how they could have tried very hard if at all to troubleshoot my problem. They just saw some worn parts and decided to charge me to replace them. And they were working all around that loose subframe the whole time and never once noticed it was loose. And they never drove the car to check if the problem was solved. This is complete incompetence. When I called the next morning they acted surprised and said I could bring the car back. I would never bring a car back to them. I'd probably end up buying more parts and still not have it fixed.

He understands why I have the opinion I have and I understand why RSW feels as they do. We have agreed to have an independent shop evaluate the external damage and will continue the discussion thereafter. Also, they have agreed to address any interior damage. Was having a parasitic drain on the battery. Ended upo having to haver the aftermarket remote starter removed and a new dash wiring harness. Car was in shop for almost 3 weeks. Came out and hopefully the electrical is fixed (need to let car sit for a while to know). Bad news is there is considerable damage to the car. There is a large dent in the rear driver's door plus scratches on the inside driver door jam, shift knob, emergency brake lever & glove box. The car did not go in damaged as they suggest. Was waiting for them to do the right thing before posting but as expected they denied everything. They said they would look at the interior damage and address it as a courtesy. When asked to check their cameras they said their cameras only go back 2 weeks. Interesting that they kept the car for just over that???

I believe that the only way to get you rvehicle serviced here is if your vehicle gets droped off. I dont believe that you can drive it there. For years, my family and I have been harassed by strange women and men in Essex County, NJ. My conclusion: People think I am anti-Italian, which is ridiculous. My parents were/are Italian-American. My mother was lovely and a wonderful parent. Her family was like a Big Hug. Because of sick/crazed women (and men), I have been bullied and harassed with intent for years. I have been called names; women have cited my body to me in a perjorative tone. I have had to file police reports about these strange/sick women harassing me. I have gone to restaurants and other establishment where strangers have gone out of their way to talk about their Italian heritage and/or relatives near me. Great! I love Italian food and Italian culture! Please don't feel compelled to mention Italian food/culture around me to offend me. I love it all. This is what happened as I waited for my husband to pick me up after I dropped off my car. An employee also spelled my name wrong and said something to the effect of, "Of course, that makes sense." And after he got my car model wrong (a co-worker corrected him with the right car model I brought in to get serviced.) It saddens me that I felt so uncomfortable. The team seems knowledgeable and experienced. My husband has volunteered to take my car to Fix N Fuel after my most recent experience with folks.

After installing the fuel injector they advised there was problems with the piston or rings. I trued to talk to them to find out if they installed the fuel injector wrong and caused the damage but they don't take calls. Their voicemail says to text them. So you text, but they either don't respond or just give a limited self serving response. I went there to pick up the car to take it to another mechanic and they refused to advise if the car is safe to operate, refuse to discuss the work they did or their misdiagnosis. They advised they will not release the car without full payment, When I tried to pay them via a check, they advised they do not accept checks but no where do they stare such prior to pick up. They want cash, Zelle or a credit card and if you use a credit card you have to pay a 3 percent fee. Then they require you to sign their self serving summary after payment or they "Will void out the payment" and refuse to give you the keys. I wrote on their document "disputed" and that I reserved the right to sue them. They refused to accept what I wrote - I had to get the local police involved just to get the car back that I fully paid them for. ---// it was such a crazy experience I told them I was going to record it on my phone and they said the they will not talk at all. Went to the dealership (the one next town over) for a simple oil change. Within an hour I get text with a video from the dealership recommending $7000 worth of work. I of course declined and told them to just finish the oil change but when I picked up the car, you bet I drove straight to Montclair Motorwerks from there. Ken and his team took a look at the vehicle and while some of the repairs recommended by the dealership were legitimate, others weren't really needed. The honesty was refreshing. Turned out the vehicle did need some extensive work (thanks Dad). The car was ready within a few days and the price (which was still in the four figures to reflect the scope of the work done) was a fraction of what the dealership would have charged. Additionally I was very careless in leaving something extremely valuable in the vehicle. One of the technicians found it and turned it over to Frankie for safe keeping. Anybody with questionable morals could have taken it and I wouldn't have known. When I picked up the car, it was there for me and while I was of course embarrassed, I was grateful. I'm under no impression that BMWs are cheap vehicles to own and maintain. They aren't. But the high degree of trust I gained from my first encounter with Ken, Frankie an their team made Montclair Motorwerks my go-to since then.

They never make me feel dumb for asking questions, they walk me through what needs to be done as well as what it'll cost and they never pressure me to do more than what is needed at the time. I took my car to Pepboys once on a weekend because Five Star was closed when I noticed an issue & boy was that a mistake. Pepboys charged me for a repair that didn't even fix the problem BUT when I took it to Five Star the following Monday, they were able to find the actual problem & didn't charge me an arm and a leg for it. My only complaint could be about the lack of weekend hours, but honestly, I get it. We all need to rest at some point. I should note, however, that they do have an overnight key drop which is convenient for when I work earlier than they open the next day.
