Came in to have tires put on. Little did I expect them to torque the lug nuts way past spec requiring 11 new lug nuts. 2 new studs. Fast? Yes. Experienced techs ? Absolutely not. So be warned. Any tire repair your lugs will be tightened and not be able to come off. Train your techs to follow the books. read more

Came here this past Saturday the 19th for an oil change. I called them earlier in the day and see if they had availability for me to come in later in the day for an oil change. The gentlemen who answered the phone was polite and said it was not a problem. I arrived at 12 noon, and there were 5 - 7 other people in the waiting room. They took my 2023 Rav 4 up on the lift, replaced my oil, checked all of my fluid levels and tires and was out in an hour. It was a little pricy at 115, for a synthetic oil change, but I accept it, and will pay for the convenience and a job well done. read more

Went in on Friday 11/21 to get an oil change and figure out what was causing a burning smell while i was driving. No appointment, but they were able to get my car in pretty quickly; the service is always friendly, and it's a shame to have to bring in a low rating because I've been going there for years. I get my car around 20 minutes to close, I had a camshaft sensor replaced and a new exhaust piece put in. I drive home, only to be welcome by a very loud engine and "thumping" sound coming from my undercarriage. I call them to ask what may have happened, and they have me bring the car in today 11/22 to take a look. They didn't fasten my exhaust piece correctly, so they claim to fix that. I go to get my car, it struggles to start and my check engine light comes on, I have them take a look at it again; they gave my a faulty camshaft sensor. Thankfully, I wasn't charged for either of these fixes, so there is a silver lining there. However, when I go to pick up my car a third time, the "thudding" from my exhaust piece has not been fixed, which tells me that they must have never actually fully fastened it again, or they never fastened it in the first place. I refuse to take it back, and I am extremely disappointed. This is not the first time I have had issue with this store, this would be the second time. The first time, they replaced my wheel bearing incorrectly, allowing my ABS light to turn on and risk ruin to my ABS system. While they're always great about warranty and their customer service is more often than not great, I cannot believe they allow such errors to continuously happen. Regretfully, I have to say that this is no longer worth my time and money. read more

Well, this is a shame. Myself and my family have been coming here for years. I bought a new tire and the warranty a couple weeks ago..1st time they mounted the tire wrong and by the end of the day I had to call roadside. They took care of the issue, mistakes happen. Put a new tire on... drove on it a handful of times and the same tire looked a bit flat. So, I put air in the tire and drove it back to Mavis. The tire held air just fine and wasn't flat when I got to Mavis, but they said they'd check it out. Next thing I know they tell me the tire is destroyed and they won't honor the warranty because my TPS system wasn't working (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). This is just ridiculous, it's a shiesty loophole. They knew my TPS wasn't working when they sold me the warranty. I was told I was an irresponsible car owner. I check my tire pressures often, especially in the colder months. I have a pressure gauge in my car and the other tires were just fine. They couldn't even tell me why the tire was "destroyed"... no nail, nothing. I'm very disappointed, will file a report with corporate. I would with the BBB, but they are not BBB accredited and have a ton of complaints there already. So, just be weary. The warranty that your paying for may not be honored. read more

This is the 2nd time, 1st here, where I made an appointment to have tires put on and when I arrived I was told "I have to check to see if we have the tires?" Now I'm not a tire expert but wouldn't you check your stock or make sure you were well stocked BEFORE completing the appointment? The appointment was made well over a week ago and was even pushed back once, giving extra time to order and stock the tires they KNEW would be sold! Mavis is good at taking the appointment but struggles a bit in keeping the appointment. It's the most bizarre concept I've ever seen. Secondly, I'm a patient person and understand there are others before me but I was told it would take about 90 minutes to do the work. Well, I planned my day around being on the road in 90 minutes. Needless to say, I was nowhere near being on the road in time to make my appointment nor was my car even looked at within the first 90 minutes of my arrival. Once again, I'm confused by the process of taking appointments if they mean nothing. This has gone on in more than 1 location so it's difficult to blame any one particular person or branch. It seems to be a corporate policy of incompetence and laziness. I advise you to avoid this place. It's one frustration followed by another. read more

Avoid this place like the plague...you go on line and find what your looking for and it says they have it in stock then you come in and the bait and switch kicks in and magicallly it is no longer in stock and least expensive option is $50 more. The mechanics are good but the guys behind the counter are horrible. Not only do they have an attitude to start with they seem to get a kick out of arguing with customers. Have been to the shop a couple times for some tire work and brake work, no complaints, always done quickly and they are easy to deal with. That is not why I am writing this review. Recently I dropped my Jeep off because the brakes started squeaking and since I drive 150 miles a day, I change out my brakes more frequently than most. I got a call the next day and they told me the pads were not even 50% worn and recommended I just bring it back in a few more months. I think we all can agree that most shops won't do this, they would have just changed the pads and charged me a few hundred bucks. There are a few honest folks out there still it turns out. I wish I got the name of the gentleman who I spoke with, sadly I did not. But they have my business going forward for sure. read more

When I showed up I'm told that making an appointment online only insures that they will get to my car that day, and it's basically a first come first service when people just walk in with no appointment. My car's tire kept losing air so I took my car to Franklin Mavis to have it repaired since my tires were purchased there and are warranted. The tires were not rotated. I can tell by the rims and the supposed "plugged" tire which is located at passenger front would have been in the rear had it been rotated. Within a week of plugging the leak, I had a complete blowout. Don't go there. Buyer beware. read more

To understand the rating you must read the following back story: At 11:45 am I contact Mavis' customer service to alert them to the fact that my car had not been repaired properly, if at all, and that my tires had not been rotated as requested. The woman on the line, Janelle, stated that what happened "was not in accordance with Mavis' policy" and that "The district's manager, Patrick, will contact you about your issue." At approximately noon I received a call from an individual who identified himself as John, a retail manager, querying me about my experience at the Warwick store. I explained to John that I was upset that I had paid to have repairs performed on my car that was not done correctly and not done at all. John proceeded to explain to me that it is very common for brake rotors to be off a few inches and that was the problem with my car. I then informed John that his explanation was plausible, but it did not explain why the mechanic returned my car to me in a state of obvious disrepair. I ended the conversation. Later own I found out through sheer luck that the individual, John, was merely a store manager for a different location. At approximately 2 pm, after conferring with my father a Mavis employee, I called the Warwick location and requested that all the original parts be placed back on my car; that my vehicle is returned. Allen notified me that my car was "in pieces" and that the mechanic working on my car was out to lunch. I informed Allen that I would be at the store in 15 minutes and I wanted my car back. At approximately 2:15 pm I returned to Mavis to pick up my car. As soon as I entered the building, Allen went to a bay and drove my car into the parking lot. I found this strange because if my car was in the state that Allen described it would be impossible for my car to ready in 15 minutes. At approximately 2:18 pm Allen called the regional manager, Patrick, and held the phone in the air so he could hear me speaking. Why Allen thought this was necessary escapes me. At approximately 2:20 pm I left the store with my car unrepaired. On Friday, April 12, 2019, I took my car to the Mavis in Butler, NJ at approximately 8 am. The store was empty, and there was only one SUV in a bay and five open bays. At 9:15 am I approached the counter to inquire if it would be better for me to make an appointment and come back at another time. At this time, I was notified that my car would not be touched until the store manager had spoken to the regional manager. I asked the individual at the desk why it was necessary to talk to the regional manager; I did not receive a response. At approximately 9:20 am, an individual claiming to be the assistant manager approached me. He stated that "you should be lucky that you got $700 worth of work done on your car for free." I asked what he meant, and he told me that the Warwick store had repaired my car, which was untrue. This person also pointed out that I had been to five stores for the same thing. When I pointed out this wasn't true, using the documentation that he provided, he switched topics. He took me outside to my car with a flashlight to show me the rusted rotors on my car for some reason. Unfortunately, due to the horrible treatment and lack of repairs to my car, I will no longer be doing business with any Mavis, which is sad because I purchased tire insurance when I bought tires from Mavis 4 months ago. I guess I should feel fortunate that Mavis gets to keep that money, and I must wait for my money to be refunded for the brakes, that was not repaired before I go somewhere else to have them fixed. read more

This was the worst. made an appointment to have my tires changed at 1, showed up 15minites early. it took 2 hours to change tires. They did break work and alignment as well as balancing. Granted I know it takes a while to do all this work, however, they dropped my car and I asked when it would be complete and the guy said he still had to do the balancing. Never saw my car go back up on the lift. Pretty much sure they're charging me for service that didn't happen. my car is also off the lift right now while I watch the cashiers walking through the garage, not dealing with people sitting in their waiting room. read more

Was requesting the tire change along with rotation which was the important point. Have the guys enough time to finish but to my surprise when I came in to pick up the vehicle at 5:30pm, I found the wheels haven't been swapped. Told the guy at the counter, and guess what reply have I got. "It's too late and we won't rotate your tires today. Any other day please. " are you guys serious?????!!! Didn't have a mood for arguing that nonsense. Agreed to come the next morning which was near to impossible as this is a working truck and had to be driven 700 miles that day, so I came back on wed morning. After a short conversation they took the vehicle and swapped the wheels. But do not expect anything more than that. They never checked the pressure and did not adjust it accordingly. What a shame! Excuses won't really help. You will continue to loose customers with that kind of attitude. read more

Mavis Discount Tire - 301 East Montauk Highway, Lindenhurst, NY I had four (4) tires replaced by Mavis Discount Tires - on Thursday, February 17th. I picked up car on the morning of Friday, February 18th as we were never called to advise us it was ready. I drove it to work and home. Did not drive it over the holiday weekend. Drove to work on Tuesday, Feb 22, 2022 and when driving home was making a right hand turn and heard a big bang noise and car stopped moving. Couldn't go forward or reverse. Checked tires as I thought it was a blow out but tires were ok. Had to get a tow to a gas station and have husband pick me up. Mechanic fount 2 lug nuts missing, 1 jammed and the others loose. The "mechanic" at Mavis never tightened up the lug nuts and did not put all the lug nuts back on rear driver side tire. They could have freaking killed me if I made it to the parkway and was going at high speed. All I could keep thinking is if I had my 2 year old nephew in the car (Thank God for winter recess and no pre-school) I paid $706 to almost get killed. $163 for a tow and $ 140 for the shop repair. Trying to find out from local government if mechanics need to be licensed and/or have certification. This should never happen. Going to complain to Better Business Bureau. They have peoples lives in their hands. Someone should be responsible for this. read more

I made a 10 am appointment for wheel alignment and arrived 10 minutes early , when I arrived a car was on the wheel alignment bay , I ask the service person how long did he think till my car goes in , he said about an hour . One hour later the car on the wheel alignment bay is backed out and another car goes into the wheel alignment bay . 2 hours later at 12 noon I asked what was going on , the service person said , we have a car on the wheel alignment bay and as soon as we get it done , you will be next . I then canceled my appointment. How in this world do they think they can just waste people's time and get away with it is beyond me . I've gone here twice. First time needed to replace my boyfriends 2 rear tires. They tried talking me into 4 which i already explained i would not be doing. But they were nice. The 2nd time is when i had a problem. Took my boyfriends car again for the other 2 tires and a new rim. I ordered them online so they would be there for my apt. They weren't. They were extremely helpful with finding the cheapest rim for me though. I asked for an oil change along with the new tires. When i picked up the car i was not charged for one and no signs of one done. I asked and said i wanted it. They proceeded to tell me they did it and gave me a sticker. After my first visit ( oil change) they lost my brake fluid fill cap. I figured , no big deal.. it happens. I had my tires replaced recently and went to do a complete brake replacement. the tech who did my tires HAMMERED the lugs on to the point they had to be drilled out to remove. I usually take my car to Mavis in Franklin but today I was not happy with my appointment. First of all they have a sign on the front door that says you must wear a mask to have service. Yet no one in the store except one guy was wearing a mask. There were 4 customers in the waiting room all wearing mask and then a young girl walked in without a mask and they didn't say anything. Checked in her car and let her sit in the waiting room without a mask One of the other people seeing she was getting away with it removed his mask.As for the service I brought the car in because I had a leak in one of the tires. They put a plug-in and didn't charge me because like I said I always take my car there. However they let a young kid work on my car and when I got in the car two of the tire pressures were low one being the one he just plugged and another tire. So I left there with my low pressure tire light still on and two of my four tires needing air. But I was just too aggravated to go back in and say something. read more

My truck started grinding and feeling like the wheel was going to fall off. I drove to the STS which I knew was down the street. The customer service was quite courteous and polite. I left my truck there and awaited an estimate. I went back home, approximately 15 mins away, the phone rang providing me an estimate and advising the car would be done by 5pm. Worst experience of my life! My father passed away a couple months ago and I wanted to take his Jeep in to get new tires, brakes, and an oil change to help my mom out. I dropped the Jeep off in the morning, waited until about 4:30 pm and they said they were done. Once I started the car up a bunch of lights came on including the 4x4, traction control, ABS, and check engine light. I asked Ryan the manager about the lights and he said they will go off once I start driving. I began to drive home and they did go off. From that day the car sat in my driveway for 3 weeks. During this time we were getting ready to move my mother out of her house into my house to be around her loved ones to make this awful time in all of our lives easier on her and us. We had two weeks to move her out and planned on using my fathers Jeep to help transport her belongings to my house or a storage unit. I started up the Jeep and began driving it to my mothers house when all of the lights came back on and the car began to stall out. I called Mavis back and they told me to bring it back in. Two days later I began driving to Mavis and the car siezed up. I checked the oil in the engine and there was none. I put a quart of oil in but it did not help. I called a towing company and had them drive it to Mavis for $190. Once there I went into the office and talked to the manager Ryan again and he said to leave the keys and they will look at it. I already knew something was shady so before leaving I made him check they oil. He checked the oil and said there is oil in it but very low, only about a quart. I told him thats because i just put a quart in. He looked at me panicking and said he would have to look into it. Two days later I got a phone call that he wasn't sure what happened but the engine was seized and since they were the last ones to work on it they would take responsibility, DUH! They told me they would order a new engine and install it for free to do right by me. I told them no offence but you guys couldn't perform an oil change, why would I trust you with installing a new engine. I asked what other options did I have? Could you order the engine and have someone else install it and cover the cost? He said that they would order the engine and they would install the new one and that was the only option and not to worry about it. He then told me the engine would be delivered in a week. A week went by and since we didn't have the jeep I had to rent a van from enterprise for 2 days for $200 to help move everything out of my mothers house. Mind you I have been out of work because of my place of employment shutting down due to Covid -19 so I have been living off of my $209 unemployment. Once the day came that they said the engine would be delivered I waited for a phone call to get an update but did not hear from them. The next day I called and they said the engine arrived and they were working on it. I asked them how long it would be because I needed it to help my mother move. They said it should be done by tomorrow. For the next week I called every day and would receive the same answer along with rude comments like, we are busy and we are trying out best we will call you. Not once did they ever call me. If I wanted an update I had to call them and "bother them" to get an update on my fathers car that they destroyed. After a week of them working on it I lost my cool and told them if they can't figure it out send it to someone who can. They sent the Jeep to Franklin Sussex Auto Mall to have them install the new engine and told them and myself they would cover the full cost of everything. Within an hour of the jeep being there the Manager at FSAM called me, like a true professional, to let me know what was going on with the Jeep. He told me it was a mess and he had no clue what they were trying to do with this. He told me there was anti freeze all over the engine, wires were spliced and put it all the wrong areas, and that it was going to take him about 12 hours to fix everything that they did. I asked him to let me know the progress because I was not receiving any feedback from Mavis. He kept in touch with me and let me know late that day that everything was fixed with the engine. Then he asked me, when you brought this to them did you have any issues with the fog lights and blinkers because they are not working. I said no, when I brought the Jeep in originally those things were working just fine. He said that the fog lights and blinkers were due to Mavis messing up the wires while installing the engine and asked me if they were paying for that? I told him as far as I know they said they were paying for everything they did wrong. He called them up and verbally over the phone the manager told him that they would cover the whole cost of the job. Finally the engine and everything else was fixed and the manager at Franklin Sussex Auto Mall called me to let me know all the work he did and that the job in total was $1500. Go elsewhere. Made an appointment in advance, was told the shocks and tires would be there. Long story short 1 1/2 hours after I arrived I was told they did not have the shocks and ordered the wrong size tire. They promised a managers discount if I came back the following Saturday and was assured everything would be done. They did hold true to that however tried to include a charge of $92.00 for a tire warranty that I explicitly said I did not want in the hope they could get away with it and then promised the discount had been given however it did not show as such on the invoice. read more
