I am an patient who suffered an Arterio-Venous Malformation (or AVM for short), being airlifted from multiple hospitals and I would like to say, the doctors, surgeons, nurses, all faculty are AMAZING at their job. Yes, they were unsure when I was sick after I was sick, questioning if I was; BUT STILL, they cared for me. I am (Almost) all better now, and Levine helped me with my recovery; now I am with NO known illnesses or further injuries (Yes, I am excluding things that were MY FAULT). My only complaint is that their food kind of sucks, it's bland and the texture is off, but overall, I would give Levine Children's Hospital a 4.95/5 out of five. The office rating is great! The Office front has an ID check to not let unwanted persons in or out, [[HIGHLIGHT]]the people working there were really nice to patients[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and they usually host events for fun rewards to make the hospital not boring, and they do events every month; and they make me feel included. If you have a child with sickle cell do NOT come here. The emergency room is amazing, great doctors and nurses. But the main floor HORRIBLE FOR SICKLE CELL CHILDREN if you actually want your child to have relief please do not come here. The doctors on the main floor are truly awful they would rather watch a child be in pain then give a single dose of the only medication that helps like wtf..??? WORST EXPERIENCE EVER IN URGENT CARE. Took my 6 month old in with flu like symptoms. Was given tylenol in triage after an hour without asking had we previously given him any medication. (Spoiler we gave him Tylenol 30 minutes before we came) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Voiced our concerns, they were dismissed and was told to wait in the lobby for a room. We had to wait two hours just to get a room.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once we got into the room we were there for less than 15 minutes. Doctors dismissed our concerns, told us there was no need to test him because the treatment would be the same for RSV, Covid & the Flu. Told us a test would be 600 as if money would be a concern when it came to my child's LIFE & he didn't have amazing insurance. Told us keep him on Ibuprofen and Motrin. Prepared us to leave, then they stopped us on our way out because they didn't even check his temperature & needed it for paperwork. Guess what? He still had a fever. Then tried to give him ANOTHER dose of Tylenol. He just has a dose two hours prior. Voice our concerns & were dismissed YET AGAIN. I declined & knew I needed a second opinion. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nurse was confused about my concern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Went for a second opinion at a Blakeney's Atrium Children's Urgent Care, SURPRISE FLU A AND CROUP! Our 14 year-old son was airlifted to Levine after finding a blood clot in his brain. We were also told he had a stroke. This place was heaven sent and we give all the glory to God! All the providers were excellent and provided nothing but the best care to our son. They even made sure we had everything we needed for a little over 2 weeks. My child was admitted at your hospital on December 7, 2024. My family or kids wasn't even allowed to come in nor see there brother. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was treated bad ans rudely back your security my kids was kicked out of the cafeteria I was not able to help my kids while we was going through something tragic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My kids had to sit outside in the cold until 11pm for me to find them a place to stay. On this same day I was made aware my child had passed at a certain time ans I wasn't told until 1 hour or so latter and by surprise someone had leaked my sons death to the monroe police department and monroe middle school. My kids found out before I could sit down and tell them. We was all in different cities. So i suspect it was a leak within the hospital who release such information before me being the mom found out. It was so devastating, angry, and mad. My family couldn't even grieve with me. I had to grieve alone. I have never went through anything like this every. I was not compensated in no type of way or form [[HIGHLIGHT]]Your security was bucking up at my kids like they was ready to fight.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was a terrible experience i had to go through and i pray no other parent should have to go through it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Went to the front desk to check in for my daughter's surgery (she's 4). The staff member confirmed her info, gave me a visitor badge, pointed to the elevators, and told us to proceed to the 5th floor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we got there the woman working the desk was sweet but said we were in the adult portion of the hospital and had to go outside and down the walk. Frustrating as one can imagine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The surgery wing had us download an app for easy updates. Unfortunately there is no service unless you are sitting next to a window so we did not get any of the original updates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After surgery my daughter was in recovery. They assign a nurse to each child which is great. However, when she was unsuccessful getting my child to wake up, or open her eyes she was asking ME what to do... I'm not in the medical field, you tell me. She had me try to get my daughter to use the restroom. I came back and said no such luck. She mentioned getting the anesthesiologist down to check on things. He never came. They proceeded to discharge us regardless. My mother was with us luckily so she was able to hold my child's head the entire car ride home. I thought the patient was to be alert and able to go to the bathroom before discharge. Nothing but excellent service! We were a trauma pediatric case and the hospital was top notch in its services and care provided. This includes ER/ED, Pediatric-ICU and genera Pediatric floor. The outside is a bit dated and some of elements of the hospital facility are maintenance challenged - I have nothing but the best to say about them. Ample parking opportunities but you will have to navigate tight spaces. They are handling the COVID element to patient care very compassionately. I'm glad this facility type and experienced treatment teams were available to us. read more

Levine Children's Hospital - 10th floor Peds room. - Pediatricians Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

We used to love Levine's. Years ago it was the place to go for Peds. They used to be so considerate, helpful, etc. We took my son yesterday 11/17, he has blood coming out of his mouth. (Not sure if he's coughing it up or vomiting) They did an X-ray and that's about it. No CT, no ultrasound nothing to check to see where the blood is coming from. They sent us home and said if he gets worse to bring him back. Needless to say, he got worse so we went back today. Today, they did absolutely NOTHING! All they did was come in the room, talk, leave. Come in the room 30 minutes later, talk and leave. Again and again until they discharged us. Triage did more than they did . If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

absolutely one of the best child hospitals I have been in with my special needs son. we were only here for one night but they were so eager to make sure I had everything I needed. The rooms are quite large and comfortable. There was a long desk table alond side the window side of the room and also a couch/bed and a recliner chair. I did do some rearranging of the furniture to accomidate my son's wheelchair and the needs for me to get around. They supplied me with sheets and blankets and pillow for the bed along with towels etc to shower. What was amazing was that they provide you with breakfast (it was a little cold) and 2 meal tickets each day. now the meal tickets are worth $5 each and it is easy to go over that so be prepared to pay the extra. but it does help defer costs. there is also a small fridge in the room so you might want to have someone bring you some sodas or snacks to keep around. there is a kitchen available with microwave and various snacks, ice cream, soda, juice, baby food, crackers, popsicles etc. the tv has a great variety of channels including on demand movies. there is a keyboard like a computer has for kids to choose different options on the tv like video games or movies etc. they have a DVD player in the room to select DVD's to watch. i did not go into the childrens play area but it look huge and inviting. you must have your ID badge on you at all times so that you can get back on the ward and so that you can gain admittance to the 3rd floor large cafeteria. the infusion therapy section is very nice there are 4 rooms that are enormous with 2 chairs one is a extra large very comfortable recliner. a swinging flat screen tv to adjust at most comfortable angles and community bathroom. the nurses are so great! and you are given as a parent a meal ticket and they will order a food tray for the child. they also have the cutest "drug train" that goes around. it is a self driving cart that looks like a train with a conductor. it carries meds to the different floors, it opens doors and calls the elevator too! so neat to follow him around read more

This place is incredible. We were admitted here for fiveish days ten months ago, and it will always be a place set in my heart. I'll tell ya why. The ED is roomy and has a security guard. There is a quiet TV with kid fare. They are efficient and look you in the face when talking to you. They have these great gals who are part of a team called "Child Life". These gals give comfort and support to the child and the child's family. They use their abilities to engage with kids and make medical procedures less scary for them. Everyone in this ER was wonderful. We are talkin' top docs and nurses here, got it?! If your child is admitted to the hospital proper, you will get an ID that you wear outside of your room. This ID is literally a key to your floor and certain other areas. Other places require passes that the nurses give out. Parking is validated. The rooms are big and clean. They have two IKEAish sofas that turn into "beds" with the removal of cushions. There is a huge dry erase board that you can write notes on. Plenty of counterspace, sink, and the medical staff has a "workspace" to input data. Tons of storage, TV with DVD, thermostat, mini fridge, good lighting, and housekeeping to boot. They even put a sign outside the door letting others know certain things about the patient (e.g."fall risk"). Vitals are checked often. The nurse hub has a secretary who can answer any question you have. They do indeed give you vouchers every day of your stay for delicious cafeteria food. Use the whole voucher- once you use it, that's it- no change. The cafeteria had decent hours- no closing at 7 pm junk, but not open till 12 am either (I am talking about the hot stuff- I think it is open at all hours with sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, chips). Very well stocked. In the mornings, near the elevators, they have free assorted coffees and muffins. It's a morning chill-spot, attached to another room with sofas and a TV. Get there early if you are picky. It goes fast. This hospital gives you all you could possibly need. Just ask- you will be surprised at what they have. They have a laundry room with detergent. If you are waiting for a person to put their clothes in the dryer, just do it for them. It is in order to keep the system going. Otherwise, you could wait hours. Just across, there is a snack room. You can get free snack stuff- juice, milk, pudding, Jello, crackers, cereal, peanut butter. They got it all. You can go to playrooms on certain floors at certain times. They are staffed by volunteers and have many tables. There are toddler toys, but if you have an older kid they can open up the craft closet and give you craft stuff. You can watch a movie. You can play video games. You can borrow "Star Wars" for the TV back in your room. You might get a teddy or a toy. I like the older volunteers as opposed to the younger ones in their twenties. To get fresh air, you could go to an outside area on a lower floor. We would go up to the tippy top, to the outside garden floor. We would relax in lounge chairs and watch a movie on a big screen under a porch. You could sit in the sun, too, and mess with interactive sculpture stuff. It felt secret and cozy, and had great views. You might see a helicopter take off above you. Inside, there is a bathroom. They even have a "radio station" in the front lobby, and you can see what's going on in there from your TV. You can request a song, and even play bingo with the DJs; when you win, a prize is delivered to your room. There was a movie night with popcorn. A toiletries cart comes around and hooks you up if you need deodorant, toothbrushes, mags, and they even have books. Bridget the therapy dog visited us, and it really made my daughter smile. Flora with "Child Life" came to visit us with a giant stuffed dog. I felt like I knew her forever. Target is nearby and so is great pizza is at Hawthorne's. The Chick fil A in the hospital is salt-free. There is a walking path by a stream in front of the hospital. The corner has a security guard. Like I said, you are getting the topmost care. Most nurses and their helpers are kind, helpful, and work hard; same with the doctors. They are compassionate and intelligent. They communicate well. They make you feel comfortable. One doc that we saw only once remembered us and took the time to say hello to us in the cafeteria. You can call them with any questions after you leave. We had an appointment snafu, and our doctor took the time to see my daughter even though he is a busy guy. Bills, comments, and even body language from others have given me clues as to how darn sick my kid was. Our doc told us the situation; processing came later for me. The sudden fear was and is surreal, but this hospital kept me grounded enough to get through. Today my kid is healthily craving H&M merchandise, listening to Bowie, and drawing half-mermaid cats with six-packs. And it is because of Levine. Levine Children's Hospital has a fantastic reputation on a national level! We're privileged to have such a medical facility in this area. I need to be honest though; our stays haven't been the best. I do realize that, sometimes, someone experiences several unfortunate experiences which cause the overall experience to be borderline miserable. To make a long story short, PROS - GREAT floor staff that have empathetic bedside manners and expertise too. CONS - My child has had two major surgeries, both of which resulted in complications and infections. In the first surgery, we never received a phone call from the surgeon or his staff...and this was considered brain surgery! In the second surgery, the result of the complications, the "look" of the incision, and the lack of concern of the surgeon was just too much for us. Another "less-than-pleasant" experience was found by the staff in the ER. I honestly can't suggest anyone NOT go there! I truly think we had back luck...multiple times! There are too many who've had life-changing experiences. Good for y'all; continue to support LCH. As for us, we'll continue to go to Greenville Memorial Hospital. read more

I came to this facility because my Granddaughter was being treated in the ED department. I went outside from an exit that would show I was in the ED Department. A male security guard saw me exit the building, upon trying to re-enter. I was verbally accosted by said security guard. I told him that he saw me exit the building, now, I can't re-enter? He in a disrespectful, blatantly nasty manner told me "no". He then went on to ask how old my daughter was, I told him and again he denied my entrance into the hospital. He outright demanded that I go to the Emergency Room entrance and wait on my family. He said that I would be given a number to call to get any information. I left his presence as the indignant, disrespectful tone he had was really irritating me. I went to where he directed me to go, upon telling that security guard what just happened, he sent me back to the area's entrance and told me to speak with April. In entering the building, I talked to April who remembered me and told me to go on in. That male security guard questioned her decision loudly and then loudly told the Nurse at the desk "that I needed a badge on". Still in his nasty tone and demeanor. The nastiness shown to me was totally out of line and I resent it and him as well question how he has a position at this facility. I worked in Healthcare for over (32) thirty-two years and I have never witnessed such a blatantly nasty oration from Staff. He does extremely poorly in being the first person one encounters once on the property. Medical Staff was excellent and professional as well super with my Granddaughter. read more

They give you food vouchers for the cafeteria. The cafeteria has a great selection of food,Its like the food court from the mall. Our floor have a snack room full of goodies like cookies,cereal and juices for us. They also have playrooms from floor 8-12, lots of toys and videos to entertain the little one. read more

I only visited the facility for a day, so i can't speak on the therapist, nurses, and doctors. So I am giving the Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte one star only because of the ordeal I had with simply changing a babies diaper. I have been in and out of hospitals with my nephew for the last 4 months, so I understand policies issues with kids being at medical facilities. I understand the concerns with COVID and Flu season and everything. So when i come to my 11 month old niece can't go upstairs to visit her 5 year old brother. But changing a babies diaper in a remote corner of the lobby with no one around is a big issue with security and the only reason i changed her diaper in the lobby is because there is no changing table in the men bath room. Like Levine saying changing diapers is not for a man to do it's women work. But what really ticked me off is that it was after 10 and i have a hour and a half drive so we are leaving for the day and the security guard stands in front of my mother's wheelchair and refuse to let me leave because her supervisor was coming to talk to me. So i waited, he came down and i showed him that there is no changing table in the bathroom. He told me to change her on the counter. The same counter that is directly behind the door and if someone comes in the door will literally hit me in my back while i am changing a babies diaper. Just the fact that a male should not have an adequate, safe, clean place to change a baby in a cildren's hospital is just unbelievable in iitself But the kicker I wasn't making a fuss about it, i just was doing the best i could what wI ad to work with and they made it a big issue. So in a nut shell, if you are a male that has small kids that will require a diaper change please don't visit Levine Children's Hospital, because apparently if they are not making money off the child, the child's needs are irrelevant. read more

After spending 8 hours running tests on my daughter they gave up. They sent a nurse in to tell me they didn't know what was wrong with her and couldn't point me to a referring dr other that her previous provider. Then while I was getting the car they dumped her alone against a traffic barrier. She had just had An IV of morphine and even before the morphine she couldn't walk more than a few steps. It was 2:15 in the morning. I am seriously considering legal action. read more

I love levines! They are absolutely amazing and caring. It seems like every staff member truly cares about your child. My son has had multiples MRIs, EEGs and other tests done here and they always go above and beyond. He has had two outpatients surgeries here and only one didn't go as planned but they did their best to make him comfortable. The doctors are so caring and we are lucky to live only 45 min away. We go in next week for another MRI and I am confident in them! Oh and their rooms are amazing! Your child can watch pretty much any movie they want. They do have a snack room for the family which really helped! read more

Very friendly staff. EXTREMELY slow. While my daughter and i spent 6 hours in the ER it seemed like we were forgotten. When the staff finally remembered we were waiting, we were asked the same questions over and over. This should have been a 2 hour visit at best. Very disappointed read more

Thank god we weren't her for our child, but I was proud knowing that this facility was here. What an advanced facility. We were visiting or daughter's friend badly hurt in an accident. The friend's father was also hurt. He was sent next door. The security is top notch. The hospital is incredibly clean and the rooms are very nice. The staff was exceptional. While I hope you don't have to visit a hospital for your young loved ones, this would be where I would want to go if it ever was needed. read more

Nothing "kid" friendly about our experience and we've been to the hospital about a dozen times for procedures, emergency care and multiple surgeries........Multiple "Sticks" for IV during test procedures; waiting for hours and hours for a procedure when you have taken time off work to be there for a scheduled appointment; blood work that was not processed properly which means our child had to be "stuck" again; little concern to diagnose our child...When you bring your child to one of the highest ranked children's hospitals in the country you expect the highest level of medicine, help and concern. Our child was sick enough to be transferred via ambulance from an ER but no one seemed to have the same level of concern once we checked in at Levine. Upon arrival she was not given a gown, an ID bracelet or IV. I expected more. I would expected someone to take responsibility for our child's care and insist on diagnostic care. I would expected an IV upon being admitted. I would have expected more respect for our pediatrician who was there to support us and validate there is a definite problem. I expected answers and now I expect a very expensive hospital bill for basic nursing care (vitals and a bed). One last note - she left in the same clothes she arrived in via ambulance........slept in them too. read more
