They called I. The neurologist in his day off because Frenchies require immediate care. He read the MRI while in process, and called me with a plan of care. He then referred me on to an ear d Sr specialist, and when Dr Scott's office tried to defer surgery for two weeks. Dr Levine appealed to him on a personal level. I am so grateful to Dr Levine and his amazing staff for saving my dog's life.

    Osito

The did a fabulous job of getting a diagnosis for our Osito under stressful ( hurricane, equipment malfunction) circumstances. Cannot recommend them enough.

    Happy Pepper

We owe Dr Levine and his team for giving our Pepper another chance at life. In April of 2018, Pepper had a massive stroke. After days in the vet ER we were referred to Dr Levine. We drove him from Tampa to his office in Sarasota where he gave him the best care possible. After a couple days I his office for treatment and observation, Pepper was back home. Armed with a rehabilitation protocol Dr Levine gave us we worked with Pepper diligently each day and less than 6 weeks later he was back to walking with his brother and sister. Albeit he has some residual weakness, his love for life and can-do attitude is present every day. We are happy to say a year and a half later and Now 10 years old, Pepper continues to make our day and those he comes into contact with. We are forever grateful for Dr Levine's expertise and guidance. He treats your pets like the family they are.

I don't write reviews about anything, but the experience that I had with my dog here was something that I don't think I can properly do justice in these words. Worth whatever travel time it takes to get to this location. Whether by car, plane, or whatever you choose, this staff is worth every penny. I traveled over 3 hours to get here and I would do it again in a second. They make you feel like your dog is a part of their family and you will feel beyond comfortable here. From the moment I walked in the staff welcomed me with compassion and warm smiles. Charlie walked through Chevy's health history and all the details to give Dr Levine the best idea possible of what's going on. Dr Levine sat down with Chevy and walked through all the possibilities of what could be going on and the pathways to treatment. He spoke to me with empathy and humor to make the atmosphere not seem so dire. All necessary precautions are taken to make sure your animal is kept safe. Once the MRI was completed, he walked us through the images and told us the surgery that would take place to fix the disc. Again, the communication and empathy was beyond anything I expected. The surgery took a few hours and they called me once they were completed to inform of the success of the procedure. They even sent me Live Photos of how he was doing and the nurse that stayed overnight to keep an eye on him gave me updates as well. Once he was ready to be discharged the next day, Charlie sat down with us to make sure I understood how the next two weeks would play out and answer any questions I had before bringing my boy to me. I could not recommend this place enough. Dr. Levine and his team have such a passion for Neurology and animals and I'm grateful to have found them. They have given my boy Chevy a new life, and the whole process and how they treated us made me forget all the hardships that I had been through the past few months. I cannot thank this group enough for what they have done, and the support they are going to provide me in the future.

Sunset Animal Clinic - The vet could care less, and it was earth-moving in disgust and heartbreak.

I adopted Xavier from there and used to take Oliver as well they were kittens. When I started going there and kept going was because Dr Khuly was awesome plus there were other older vets that were great as well plus Connie was bookkeeping (I think) at the time. Everything changes and I continued to go there for nail trims and any emergency that may pop up if it happened on a day the office was open. I called yesterday on July 21 to make an appointment for nail trims and was informed that since the boys hadn't had a full physical exam in years that the next time I would schedule an appointment for nail trimming that I would have to give them each a physical. Now mind you I expressed to the young lady on the phone which btw it's not her fault at all and I understand this, but I was very upset at feeling forced to have to give my days physicals. I explained to her that about couple of months ago I happened to have sprints about 1,500 at town and country hospital due to emergency with both Oliver needed teeth cleaning cause he had stopped eating and then a week Xavier had been throwing up along with diarrhea and was sick for over a week. This happened over the weekend when your office was not open. These are indoor cats always have been.. I am 61 years old currently unemployed and having financial difficulties I try to give my cats the best care they I can. I really liked the way your vet techs clipped their nails it's a shame that everything changes.

I have a miniature zoo of animals and my regular vet is not conveniently located so I thought I'd try them since they have such positive reviews. I was even thinking maybe I can switch vets if I like them but the immediate dismissal without even asking how serious the cat's injuries are was highly disappointing. Even if they did not have a vet available to see my cat, the least they could do was act like they care. I did not get the sense that animal well-being is on the top of their priority list so I will stick with my regular vet for regular care and Knowles for true emergencies since both of those have staff that actually seem to care about the animals. If you are thinking about making your pet a new patient at Sunset Animal Clinic, make sure you have an appointment because otherwise they could not care less.

They Operated on the Wrong Shoulder of Our Puppy -- Then We Were Left to Deal with the Consequences…read more Our experience with Good Care Animal Clinic's Dr. Adalberto Cotelo and Dr. Mario D. Cabrera of Cutting Edge Surgical Referrals has been devastating. Our 6-month-old puppy, Apex, was diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) in his right shoulder. X-rays were taken of only his right shoulder, multiple veterinarians agreed with the diagnosis, and surgery was scheduled on his right shoulder. We entrusted Apex to Good Care Animal Clinic because they were our primary veterinarian. We were told that Dr. Mario Cabrera was the orthopedic surgeon they used for these procedures, and we believed Apex was in experienced hands. On April 25, 2025, we dropped Apex off for surgery. Later that afternoon, we received a call that the procedure had been completed and that he was ready to go home. When we brought Apex home and he began recovering from anesthesia, we made a discovery no pet owner should ever have to make: his left shoulder had been shaved and surgically operated on, while the right shoulder--the shoulder that had been diagnosed, imaged, and scheduled for surgery--had never been touched. No one informed us that the wrong shoulder had been operated on. We discovered it ourselves. Apex underwent an unnecessary surgery on the wrong shoulder and then had to wait approximately three months before he could safely undergo a second surgery on the correct shoulder. During that time, his original condition continued to worsen while he endured additional pain, recovery, and physical limitations. Today, Apex continues to require ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and monitoring. Perhaps the greatest loss is something that can never be replaced. Apex only gets one puppyhood. Instead of running, playing, exploring, and socializing during those critical months, he spent them recovering from surgeries, confined to restricted activity, and living with pain. As pet owners, we entrusted Apex to veterinary professionals believing he would receive safe and competent care. The trust we placed in Good Care and the surgeon they selected was broken the moment we discovered that the wrong shoulder had been operated on. Our money was not immediately refunded, and we later received a written proposal that would have required us to remain silent. After our attorneys requested that recordings of our telephone conversations be preserved, we later learned those recordings were no longer available. Those issues are now part of the lawsuit we have filed. We understand that mistakes can happen. What matters is how those mistakes are acknowledged and addressed. More than a year has passed, and we have not seen the level of accountability, transparency, or support that we believe Apex deserved. We are sharing our experience because pet owners deserve honesty, transparency, and accountability. We encourage every family to carefully research both the veterinary clinic and the surgeon who will actually perform their pet's procedure. Our goal is not only to raise awareness, but also to seek accountability and justice for Apex so that no other family has to endure the pain, trauma, and lasting consequences of a preventable wrong-site surgery. Apex continues to need rehabilitation and ongoing medical care for the rest of his life. Apex deserved better. Every pet deserves better.
