AVOID BLUEPEARL SARASOTA AT ALL COSTS…read more My wife and I brought our cat in during the night because he was in severe pain and urgently needed help. We were shocked when we were quoted $9,000 for 5 days of hospitalization. When we explained that we could not afford that and asked them to keep him comfortable only until morning while we looked for another option, we were quoted $4,000 for just 12 hours. What I will never forget is standing there watching our cat suffer while we felt like everything depended on whether we could immediately agree to pay thousands of dollars. When people bring a sick pet to an emergency hospital in the middle of the night, they are scared and vulnerable. They should feel that their animal's pain comes first -- not that they are being financially cornered at the worst possible moment. Our experience here was absolutely terrible. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

Our girl Karma became so ill so quickly with no support from her regular vet. We chose this place…read morebecause we were able to stay with her throughout everything. This means so much to us. We had never let our girl stay at home alone ever. If we went, she went. She was our daughter, still is. It was time for immediate action. I knew her numbers were not good and we walked in greeted and sorted to the absolute fullest by every member of the staff. They brought us and our girl back immediately. Dr Moses knew she couldn't stand and picked her up without hesitation to weigh her. They drew blood and started IV access right away. I told Dr Moses I needed to know every option available because if I could save her, we would do anything. I said I need honesty in every aspect, no matter the outcome. Her bloodwork came back after they had settled us into a private room with our girl, Karma. I saw the numbers she had in her hand. She didn't even need to explain. I had no idea how our amazing baby held on so long. She did it for us to be ready. My husband said he would never put our girl down and was adamant about it since we found her. There is something about Dr Moses that is real, raw, and beautiful. You could feel her energy and her sorrow for us without having to speak. I've never seen my husband understand so quickly what needed to be done. I told him it's painless. Dr Moses stepped in and explained it beautifully. She told us to take as much time as we needed and to push the button when we were ready. No rushing. A beautiful time spent with our baby telling her she was the greatest thing to ever happen to us. That she fought so hard. She taught us so many life lessons. That love is god mode. I told my husband we needed to act somewhat quickly before any seizures could begin. We pressed the button and she came right in with the medications and told us we can stay right where we were on the floor with our girl. She worked around us and so quickly our baby was no longer suffering. I thought this would be the moment I shattered, my husband would lose his mind. We didn't. She was sleeping, but gone. I felt her looking at us from the door giving us the biggest blanket of love we have ever felt. She told us to take as much time as we needed. Literally. Throughout this process, every single member of the team from the front of the house, techs, and our angel sent Dr Moses all spoke calm and could feel our pain and honestly they felt it too. They all said they were so sorry and offered any kind of relief. I work CVICU. I see a lot of death and we try to become almost cold towards it but we still feel every single death. VEG ER in South Tampa is filled with empaths. Burnout is real. My husband and I are so thankful and grateful for every single member of the team. Dr Moses, there is something so beautiful inside of you. I don't know if you had trauma as a child. I feel you need to know you are seen. You are loved. You are cherished. We will be forever grateful for your honesty, your compassion, your sense of empathy towards our situation. You now hold such a huge part of our souls. We are eternally grateful for what you do. We have broken down a few times just knowing Karma is no longer here in physical form but as soon as we got to the car to leave, we heard her adorable "heyyy" that she used to do when she was always the happiest. We came home and heard her distinct footsteps. We are better than ok thanks to you Dr Moses. Please know you are so valuable and appreciated. I am happy you chose to become a vet. We would never be ok without your support. Karma is at peace, so we can be too. You are the absolute best and we are eternally grateful for you. To add: she was just about to turn 16

I brought him in at 6pm and they ran some tests gave him some meds and put him in a kennel. Last thing the doctor told me was that "no news was good news" At around 12 midnight I get a call saying my dogs heart had stopped and if they wanted me to perform CPR I rush to their location to find my dog dead on their table and them performing CPR After they pronounced him deceased I got a rundown of the nightly events. At 11pm they took him out of the kennel to check on him and in their notes it said "he was unable to walk anymore". I was livid after reading this because why didn't these idiots call me to let me know my dog was in bad shape Instead they put him back into his kennel to die alone and WITHOUT a heart monitor. So from 11 to 1230 there's was no telling how long he was dead for before they found him. On top of that they charged me extra to perform "life saving cpr". These crooks need to be investigated. Please do not leave your pets with these incompetent MFs

Jennelle was our main point of contact and truly made the experience so much easier. She kept both Finn and us calm and informed the entire time. Dr. Riddick was clearly very busy that night, but when she got to Finn, she was thorough, reassuring, and took the time to clearly explain what she was seeing, how she would treat it, and potential healing considerations given the location of the injury. Finn needed stitches, and she provided very detailed aftercare instructions. We followed up with our regular vet a few days later just to make sure everything was healing properly, and I'm happy to say Finn healed great and had his stitches removed today. VEG even offered to remove them for free as a follow-up, which we really appreciated, but we opted for our closer vet for convenience. One thing we really loved was being able to stay with Finn the entire time. We could see him throughout the process and even watch as they placed the stitches, which made a stressful situation feel much more manageable. We're so grateful for the care Finn received here and would highly recommend VEG to anyone in an emergency.

I don't usually share personal stuff like this, but I'm making this post for one reason only. If you ever have an emergency with your pet, go to VEG ER for Pets. When we were trying to find a vet to perform the surgery, our VEG doctor sat there and personally called vet after vet to get someone to fit us in. And when we finally found the right place, she stayed on the phone with the surgeon and fully briefed him on Charlie's condition so there was not a single gap in his care. They kept us informed, comforted, and confident that our boy was in the best hands. He made it through surgery like a champ and finally came home but after we got him settled, his temperature dropped and we had to rush him back to VEG. They immediately took him in, warmed him, ran an ultrasound to make sure nothing was wrong, monitored him until he was stable... and didn't charge us a dime. Because of how long this whole process was, and having to go back again, we saw three different doctors at VEG, and every single one of them treated Charlie (and us) with the exact same level of urgency, compassion, and kindness. That consistency in care meant everything to us. Charlie is home now, snuggled in blankets, eating, and slowly getting stronger! If you ever face an emergency with your fur baby, VEG is the place to go. We are beyond grateful and will recommend them to anyone and everyone.

When our small dog had an emergency late in the evening, we went there as a walk-in and were admitted right away. We were seen quickly by the vet. From the front desk to the vet assistant to the veterinarian, everyone was kind and respectful. We never felt pressured to approve every recommended option. They were very understanding when we chose some things and declined others. They even suggested more cost-effective options outside of their clinic, which we truly appreciated. They also told us that if we needed to return within 24 hours, we would not be charged the admission fee again. To our surprise, they called the next morning to check on our dog. We have been to many emergency visits over the years, and no one has ever followed up like that. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would recommend this clinic. I would just suggest asking questions and discussing which options are truly necessary for your situation.

The front…read moredesk girl was very kind and compassionate on the phone, which initially made us feel a little better about what was already an incredibly painful situation. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the experience was very different and ended up being one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had. We expected to be taken to a private room where we could provide our information, make arrangements, and say goodbye. Instead, everything was handled in a very small front lobby, with other people watching and waiting with their dogs. After such a traumatic and unexpected loss, being surrounded by people with their pets was incredibly difficult. We also felt extremely rushed. The phone was constantly ringing, vet techs were coming out to ask questions, and a line was forming behind us. I felt like I didn't have the time or privacy to ask the questions I had or fully process what was happening because I didn't want to hold up the people waiting behind us. This was the worst situation we have ever experienced, and we both woke up the next day with regrets about how rushed the entire process felt. Unfortunately, the front desk interaction also made the experience more difficult. The employee was very cheerful and smiling while explaining that our dog would come back to us in a "nice box." I understand that she may have been trying to be kind or positive, but given the circumstances, the tone felt insensitive and out of touch with the grief we were experiencing. In that moment, we needed compassion, patience, and a little more awareness of how devastating the situation was for us. I do want to acknowledge that when the technician came out to our car to retrieve our dog, she was incredibly kind, patient, and compassionate. I truly appreciate the way she treated us during such a difficult moment. Unfortunately, the experience in the front lobby overshadowed that kindness and made an already devastating day feel even worse. We did receive our baby girl's ashes the next day, which brought us some comfort, and we are grateful that we were able to have her back home with us so quickly. However, I still wish we had been given more time, privacy, and space to grieve and process what had happened rather than feeling like such a heartbreaking and life-changing moment was rushed and transactional. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, because no family should have to navigate the loss of a beloved pet feeling like they need to hurry through the process or apologize for taking up space while they are grieving.

As expected, the surgery affected his appetite, but a few days later things took a concerning turn. By Sunday--four days post-surgery--he had completely stopped eating and drinking and became very lethargic. By that evening, he was barely moving. Having lost a dog years ago to kidney failure, I didn't want to take any chances, so I brought him to Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists, where I've had good experiences in the past. From the moment we arrived, the team was excellent. The receptionist was kind and attentive, and after the initial exam, Dr. Ormsby came in and immediately connected with Bruno. As soon as she walked in, he perked up. What stood out most was her approach. Instead of ordering a battery of expensive tests, she said, "Let me make him a charcuterie plate." She hand-fed him baby food and a few other items--and he ate. She discussed a kidney test but didn't feel it was necessary based on his symptoms. Instead, she explained that some of his post-surgery medications could be causing gastrointestinal inflammation and treated him accordingly. We followed her guidance at home, and Bruno is now eating again and getting back to his old self. Too often, veterinary visits feel transactional. This was the opposite. They truly cared, and it showed. I'm very grateful we chose Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists.
