The doctors have been there for us every step of the way, and I cant thank them enough for the level of care they've shown my boy. I would try every other option under the sun before bringing any animal here. I have now had two different experiences with this practice, both years apart yet nothing seems to have changed. For context: I had previously brought my 105 pound Weimerainer here due to an intense neurological problem he had been suffering with most of his life. This was before the pandemic. The solution was to give him pain medication and then give them over FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for an MRI for my dog. That was the end all be all for them. As far as they were concerned that was the only solution, this was in pursuit of whether I was going to then need an additional TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for surgery on my dog. I make really good money, I do not have fifteen thousand dollars to spend to "possibly" fix the problem. Fast forward to a month ago, I brought my six year old Corgi in to this practice due to a minor limp she has in her front right leg. Low and behold the course of treatment was EXACTLY THE SAME, they want me to give my dog a pain killer and then cough up SIX THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for an MRI, which again may tell us nothing at all. This practice is predatory. They will convince you that your dog is getting the best treatment and go on and on about their "team approach" but after they "evaluate" your dog its all the same. They come into the room with your pet and tell you everything under the sun that could be wrong with your dog. (for example they told me my dog could have herniated disk or a tumor they cant see, and everything in between). The sole purpose of everyone working at this practice is to try to convince you to give them money. They want to schedule a follow up before you even leave, my dogs course of treatment was six weeks and on week two they had already called me twice to pay for a follow up appointment. Four years had passed between the time I brought my dogs there and they make it very clear that the end goal is to make you pay for an MRI. UNLESS YOU HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO SPEND ON YOUR DOG DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE. In addition, I went to a different vet that took a set of X-rays and evaluated my dog and solved her problem for five hundred dollars. It has taken me months to gather the strength to write this review because every time I think about what happened, I feel like I lost a piece of my soul. On May 4, 2024, I took my beloved French Bulldog to SEVN due to some concerning neurological symptoms--unbalanced movements and eye drooping. I trusted this facility to help him, but my experience was nothing short of devastating. From the moment I stepped inside, the first response was to medicate him without thorough testing. He was given Tramadol and Diazepam right away, and I was told, "Let's watch and see how he does." This response felt inadequate, but I trusted them. The next day, his condition worsened dramatically, and I returned to SEVN. This time, they recommended a long list of expensive tests, including an MRI, a spinal tap, x-rays, and additional medications. The first bill was $462, the second bill was $5,249. After all of that, the response was still vague: "We don't see anything major, maybe a slight disc issue." I grew increasingly concerned. Coming from a medical family, I consulted with my mother, who immediately suspected a neurological brain issue, not a disc problem. This was when I started questioning their approach. Over the weekend, I called SEVN to speak to a senior doctor, but I was only allowed to speak to a resident vet. When I asked for Dr. Michael Wong or Dr. Simon Kornberg, I was told they weren't available. At this point, I felt I wasn't receiving the level of care and expertise I expected. By May 10, I was back again. Two more hours of waiting. Another spinal tap. Another MRI. More medications. Another bill of $4,127. This time, they diagnosed Meningitis, which, according to them, is common in French Bulldogs. I couldn't believe it took this long and this much money to reach a diagnosis that could have been considered earlier. The Cytosar injections began on May 14, followed by more on May 22, June 6, and June 13. Instead of seeing improvement, my dog continued to decline. The steroids caused extreme weight loss, and by June 25, he was back in the hospital, having seizures and unable to stand. I was devastated. Another hospitalization, another bill--$1,448--but no real improvement. By June 28, another violent seizure. I rushed him back, waited two hours, and watched as they administered even more medications. The bill was $2,464. Despite all the medications and hospitalizations, my dog was at his final breaking point. He couldn't control his bowels, couldn't move, and was in unbearable pain. At this stage, the treatments felt more like a process of drugging rather than true medical intervention. On June 30, 2024, I had to make the hardest decision of my life. I held my boy in my arms as he took his last breath. SEVN was a place I went to for help, but I left feeling that I had placed my trust in the wrong hands. I strongly believe that if the correct tests were done earlier, with the right treatment approach, he could have had a better quality of life for much longer. I later reached out to some of the top veterinary neurology specialists in the country, and they confirmed that some veterinary hospitals, including SEVN, tend to rely heavily on drug-based treatment rather than exploring other approaches. In my experience, this was true. The communication at this hospital was frustrating, and I often found myself waiting for hours without getting clear answers. Getting an appointment with an experienced doctor was nearly impossible, yet the invoices were always ready immediately. Final Thoughts: AVOID THIS PLACE Based on my experience, I would NEVER recommend SEVN. The lack of urgency, over-reliance on medication, and the difficulty in accessing experienced specialists made what was already a heartbreaking situation even worse. If you LOVE your pet, I strongly urge you to seek care ELSEWHERE. RIP my sweet boy. You deserved better. read more

I've debated writing this because I know it won't bring my beloved best friend back but because I know how important reviews are, I hope to help the next people who will believe their pet is in good hands at this place. Take it from me, do not trust them. Truly evil people who should not be in practice or licensed to take care of your pet. I had read bad reviews about this place but when my dog started to experience seizures and was not getting better, despite being on all this medication, I was helpless to stop her pain and at this point, my last option was to put my dog in the hands of these people, being that they are the only ones with an MRI machine within an hour drive from me. I get there, they take my dog back and say she has passed her check and is healthy to undergo the MRI. During our meeting with the Dr. Flores, at no time did she express there were any risks of putting my dog under, despite her medical history. Instead they portrayed nothing but a successful MRI scan, of course looking back at it now, it was because they wanted my $5,000.00. I'm 27, I support myself. My dog was in pain for 5 months before I was able to work and save up this money to get this done for her. I paid and the doctor had promised me I could see my baby before they put her under. When I asked the girl at the front desk where my dog was and why I couldn't see her, she laughed and said "oh, you wanted to see your dog again.....ok?" Disturbing the way she said it, as if they don't know why I would want to see my best friend before she went into her procedure. Eventually, they brought her out for me to give her love and tell her she was going to be OK before I left her there. Looking back now, God made me see her for a reason. I was working at the Starbucks nearby when I receive a call an hour later, very nonchalantly that my dog had gone into cardiac arrest and that they would try 3 more times and if she didn't wake up, there's nothing else they could do. By the way, at this point, they knew they killed my dog, no one calls someone to tell you this news, while giving your dog chest compressions. I rush over and am set into a room for 20 minutes to wait to hear what is happening to my dog. Dr. Flores comes in and very coldly, with NO empathy, tells me my dog didn't make it and they don't know why that happened. I felt like I was in a nightmare. I came into this office because I trusted them to take care of my dog and make her better. Instead they kill*d her, had no remorse, and shrugged their shoulders and said "I don't know what happened, sorry". I am still sick to my stomach replaying these events over and over in my head. They bring in my dog after an hour in a towel. The most traumatizing experience of my life. I cannot wrap my head around that this is real, that I really don't have my best friend anymore. When I literally came in to this office to save her, they ki** her. Around 2:30PM, my partner and father came. The staff in the office had hid and began to shut down the office. It was very apparent they knew that they killed my dog and literally hid from me and my family, because it was truly disgusting and cruel what they did and the way they handled it. Not only did they keep the money after ki**ing my dog with no remorse and after failing to go over with me her possible risks, they tried to withhold me from taking my dog's dead body home with me. This still feels like an absolute nightmare. I lost my best friend. She was a 10 year old chihuahua, she had another 8 years of life to live. I should have trusted my gut when I read these bad reviews about these people. I also blame myself for trusting them. I will never get over the way this happened, it's been two weeks, I still can't stop crying, and I can't sleep at night. I cannot believe these evil people are allowed to operate their business still. Please trust me, from first hand experience with them. They do not care about your best friend. Dr. Nick DePompa saw us along with nurse Yessenia and they were wonderful. Laid out options and prices, approved me for credit and they did an mri. He has a ruptured disc in his back and he laid out course of action to try hopefully to avoid surgery. I loved this place and the staff. My Local vet mentioned a MRI might be required, hence the trip to SEVN. After a consult, MRI was not needed, nor is surgical intervention. Thankful at the over inflated prices (gouging). But had to purchase a $100 harness, etc. With respect to our ignorance as we are not D.V.M ( Veterinarian), why would a Neurologist prescribe Antibiotics for a spinal/ Muscular paralysis? Fast forward 3 weeks: after Physical therapy with an experienced source the puppy is now walking again. Be is still in therapy but is able to be a puppy and not restricted to a bed and immobile. There was another dog in the practice suffering the same paralysis with no relief because these Neurological vets are are just letting the dog lay there for months. read more

Southeastern Veterinary Neurology (SEVN) is thorough, compassionate, and understanding to animals and their owners. I would recommend them without hesitation. I am a veteran dog owner who has sadly experienced rescues who have developed rare diseases, cancers, dementia, allergies, skin-tags, and tumors. My dogs have been through major surgeries, emergencies, allergy specialists, and eye specialists, but seizures were new territory for me. My regular vet suggested that I take my large breed, almost 12-year-old pit mix to SEVN when he started having grand mal seizures every 3-4 weeks. He was also starting to show signs of Canine Cognitive Disorder (CCD or "doggie dementia"). We made the near hour-long drive, but it was absolutely worth it. Prior to the visit, I did my due diligence in attempting to investigate environmental, food, and chemical causes. I also prepared a list of my dog's foods, supplements, and medications, as well as our daily routine and medical history. A case worker(s) was assigned to my dog, and they called ahead of time to gather some important information too. (They will continue to call periodically for check-ins as well.) Dr. Nicholas DePompa and staff took every care with my sweet, old dog. They listened to me and my concerns. They really evaluated the whole situation, and not just the symptoms. I appreciate being heard and all my dog's history being taken into consideration. Moreover, Dr. D did not try to force or push expensive diagnostic tests (like an MRI) when regardless of the results, I would not subject my aging dog to brain surgery. They also understood that I am on a limited budget. We were able to have a frank, honest conversation about these things. Taking all the of my dog's factors, history, and the physical evaluation into account, they were able to rule out many causes and accurately treat the most likely reason for his seizures. Additionally, Dr. D recommended an over-the-counter supplement that other patients have had good results with for the CCD. I was shocked that within a week the sun-downing symptoms of the CCD had stopped. Even better, the seizure medication does not make him lethargic or sedate, instead he is still his happy, goofy, dog self. It is also affordable. I can cherish every extra day SEVN has given me with my old man. The medication might not be stopping whatever is possibly growing in his head causing his seizures, but it is suppressing them. I can happily report that he has been seizure free since starting on the medication they prescribed almost a year ago. But SEVN's attention to detail and meticulous care did not stop there. Dr. D asked that I create a seizure log and share the file with him to remain updated and report any changes. He also encourages his patients' owners to email him with any questions or concerns; and he maintains that communication himself usually within that day or the next business day. This past Saturday while walking our dog, his leash broke, he ran into traffic and was struck by a vehicle. We took him to a vet right away, and the x-rays showed a spinal fracture, with that particular vet recommending euthanization. This was our beloved pet - so much more than "just a dog", so we asked to get a second opinion. They recommended we go to a specialist in that field and recommended Southeast Veterinary Neurology. We called ahead and upon arrival, they met us at the door and called our dog by his name. We were taken into a private waiting room with 2 chairs and an exam table, while our dog was taken back into another area for examination by the doctor. A few staff introduced themselves and had us fill out some paperwork. They'd already seen the x-rays taken by our initial vet that morning, so they were honest from the start about the possible prognosis. While waiting, we were offered bottles of water. After about 15 minutes, they came outside where we chose to wait on the back patio, and told us the doctor was ready to meet with us. We went back into the private waiting area and the doctor talked in a very intelligent manner and was straightforward with his prognosis, but spoke softly and was compassionate. Basically we were given the option of surgery, but that would still leave our beloved dog partially paralyzed, having to use wheels rather than back legs, and incontinent. The other option was to help him pass from this world peacefully. Definitely not the answer we wanted, but it was factual and honest. We asked what would be done with his body if we chose euthanasia. The options were cremation where we'd accept the ashes, or a cremation where his remains would be disposed of with respect, along with those of other animals. Our one demand was that he not be disposed of in the garbage or used for testing. We were assured that wouldn't be the case. We were asked if we wanted to see our dog again, and also asked if we wanted to be with him as he passed. When we asked to see him to say our goodbyes, they brought him in, wrapped in a small blue blanket with photos of balls and bats and sports equipment on it. That alone reduced me to tears, as he was always a sporty dog, and even though he was 6 years old, he always played ball like a puppy. The blanket suited his little personality perfectly. We were allowed to spend as much time as we wished with him before the staff took him into the back area. As we were leaving, we saw that the staff had lit a candle at the reception area for our sweet dog, and that candle would remain lit throughout the process where he was allowed to pass on, and there was a small poster behind it, describing what the candle was and what it meant (see attached photo). Again, tears flowed. Our visit here ran nearly $450 between the initial consultation fee, euthanization fees and the costs of cremation. That said, for us to get a second opinion and to be told by someone with this amount of training, specialization and knowledge what our options were, and most importantly, what was best for our dog and his quality of life, it was worth it. The following Monday we received a copy of the full report via e-mail, explaining what they had found and the detailed diagnosis, and when requested, they also sent a copy of the final bill. In short, this place was there when we needed them, even on an early weekend afternoon, and they were kind, compassionate and professional. The special things they did, such as the blanket he was placed in when we visited with him that perfectly suited his personality and the candle that was illuminated as he passed from this earth were amazing and deeply touching. Our Frenchie had been in pain for over a month. Conservative treatment was not working and we had already had many visits to nearby vets with no answers, despite asking for better diagnostic tests. We eventually returned to our regular vet- Dr Ziogaite- who is awesome, and she recommended Dr. Wong. We were so relieved that the process went smoothly. The team was able to see that it was indeed a slipped disc from using their on-site MRI machine. We got updates from Hannah and the other lovely nurses twice a day for a few days after his procedure and we picked him up in great condition. It has been almost 3 weeks since, and our Frenchie is doing great! Apart from the most important- our furchild's treatment- we were fortunate to have pet health insurance as soon as we got our dog and because of the cost, they worked directly with the clinic to help settle the account. The Patient Care Manager Hilary and her team were very gracious and professional to send the appropriate records and process the payment with our insurance company agent. Dr. Wong and his staff were well worth the hour plus drive to Miami. If your furbaby has neurological issues, go here. With better guidance, ours can now enjoy his many years ahead pain-free. On Sunday March 13th my Yorkie Benjie was outside playing and he started breathing heavy and having trouble walking. I took him to my local Vet Emergency clinic and they told me to go to Boynton Beach Veterinary Neurology. They were full and they managed to get me in to Southeast Veterinary Neurology. From the time they answered the phone i knew that I knew i was in good caring hands. They worked me in and i drove from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami. Once there they took him in EVERYONE was amazing !!!!. Nick L. De Pompa, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Neurology) Montana DIVita, DVM, Neurology Resident were beyond words !!!! They called me that night to check on him and the following day . We have been so thankful with our entire experience for our baby boy Liam's surgery and recovery. From the front desk staff, to the nurses, and Dr. Flores, we cannot thank everyone enough. The expertise and knowledge Dr. Flores and the nurses have provided, helped us coped with the unfortunate state of Liams slipped disc. This helped eased the process and allowed us to entrust in SEVN to treat Liam's condition. The post op in hospital care communication and picture sharing of Liams recovery was made to be a comfortable experience and allowed us to really feel that we weren't away from him. Just being home from discharge today, we are already seeing improvement in recovery. All the information gained from the discharge visit was super valuable and we are confident we have all the information and knowledge needed to have a successful recovery at home. All of our questions were asked, nothing was never rushed. Every staff member really contributed to such an amazing experience from such an unfortunate incident with our pup. Any veterinarian can treat an animal, but not every veterinarian can treat an animal with compassion, love, expertise, & passion for their practice the way your team does. The place is a mirage. Their online image is just a shell of what they would like to be , but absolutely different of what they actually are. If you need a CT for non neurology problems with no neurologist consultation and minimal staff interaction, you may be lucky and get a full radiology report with perfect images as if the CT procedure is ongoing right in front of you. On the other hand , if you need transparency, clear communication, and sound medical advise on a neurological problem, chances are you will have zero luck in getting that. On 2023 my youngest dog woke up in acute pain and paralyzed from the waist down. She could not void and she could not have bowel movements by herself. Dr Flores, a resident, was adamant about the need for an MRI. She made a strong argument about the need to proceed with urgency to prevent further damage to the spine. My baby was unable to move, but still had sensation. The MRI would show where the problem was and would help in guiding the surgery if surgery was advised. This made sense to me, I decided to proceed and agreed to deposit the $10000.00 she requested. I made clear during our discussion that I was expecting the images and report in my email. She did not voice any issues with that. I was told I would receive the spinal tap results, education about how to express her bladder, and support with any question about my future girl care. Although all these was confirmed by front desk when I paid , I got NONE of the above. To make this litany of disasters short, I received late in the day a phone call from Dr Flores instructing me to pick up my girl. She said the surgery was a no go. I was surprise and of course inquire why not. Guess what, she didn't know why not. I could not believe my ears. Did she leave her brain in the freezer? She also said she may have tumors in the spine. ??? May? Didn't she said we needed and MRI to ensure we could see what was going on in the spine? She was very nonchalant. I drove like a maniac . I blamed myself for letting my poor thing with these space cadet. Deep inside I still had expectations of getting something good out of all the money and time spent. But I was wrong. The "nurse" was unable to teach me how to express my girl. I had to go to VCA to learn how to express her. I called numerous times to inquire about the meds and her care, they promised a nurse was going to call back. Never did. The spinal tap was another issue. My dog had several needle markings in the lower back , but there was no report sent to me. They told me later that they didn't do the spinal tap. Did they? What happened in her lower back? Why didn't they communicated this to front desk? There was a complete disconnection between front desk staff and medical providers. As for the radiology report and the images, I received after many phone calls and quite a bit of insistence an email containing 2 extremely short images. No idea what the images were about. I reckoned that one would have to be superhuman to spot anything at that speed. I was also told that in order to receive a radiology report I had to pay and additional amount of 300 dollars. I refused to do it because this was not disclosed in our original discussion.I received instead a letter signed by Dr Flores and Dr Thibault ( which I never saw or spoke to, and which I doubt ever saw my dog). The letter is a makeshift report in which both of them affirmed in so many words that it is pointless to treat my girl as she will surely die. Fortunately for my baby, I refuse to bury her until she is actually dead. I discontinued all her meds but one. She started walking two months after that ordeal and currently, 7 months after SEVN she eats, plays, run and carry on a normal life. read more

Our black lab/border collie rescue dog, Bailey, suddenly contracted IVDD and had to have back surgery for his slipped disk. We were so scared. But Dr. De Pompa and the staff were extremely helpful and positive and thorough. Bailey's surgery was successful and he will walk again!!! The 24 hour care for Bailey was outstanding. I brought my dog here thinking it would help and possibly might get better. Given his diagnosis he would deteriorate with time sadly, however, aside from the MRI that was performed they also did a spinal tap and after that he honestly got worse and really could no longer use his back legs. I am almost certain they used him as an experiment with the spinal tap test, as they usually do with elderly or animals when people want to practice. After reading there was a resident present, I would not be surprised this was the case and they made my dog worse whom I sadly just had to put down due to his health declining. Worse place ever and they also only care about the money, I honestly did not get any empathy on their behalf. I would have never brought him there had I known this would happen. Thank you Nadya who I first spoke with- she was so patient, helpful & kind! I also interacted with Bella, Lauren, Brittany, Natalie, Virginia, Jackie, Ashley, & Amy- everyone was super nice and made me feel comfortable leaving my baby in your hands! We saw Dr. Fitz and she was a pleasure to speak with, she gave Angelo the best care while he was there and updated me on every step of the way! When they called me to tell me Angelo was out of his MRI and was waking up in the nurses arms it made me feel so good to know he was giving love and care! I came to SEVN with my 5-year-old chihuahua frantic for answers after being told he was fine from several other providers. I called and spoke to a coordinator (Hillary) who was able to schedule me for a same day appointment with Dr. De Pompa. Based on my explanation of symptoms she gave me a breakdown of the possible invasive testing that might be done along with an estimated price which I really appreciated. Dr. De Pompa was thorough and extremely knowledgeable. During his exam he believed the issue was a slipped disk In the neck and estimated which ones he thought they were. Without an MRI there was no way to know exactly but he gave the option of conservative route along with invasive testing and then de compression surgery. He explained everything allowing me to make the option that was best for me and my pet. It was evident after a few days that the MRI and surgery were the way to go. Every single person on staff was supportive in helping me make the decision. As well as walking me through what the next few days would entail for my pup and I. After dropping him off for the MRI and surgery I got routine phone calls from Dr. De Pompa with updates. I also received many phone calls from every nurse on the night shift as well as the day shift on updates about how my little pup was doing. Night Nurse Stephanie was beyond amazing! Never got annoyed of my calls and millions of questions. She sent me pictures and videos as often as possible. She let me drop off some creature comforts for him. Everyone was available by phone after surgery and contacting me to check up on him post operatively. Honestly, I would recommend everyone at SEVN ten times over! I have never come across a more compassionate and educated group of people who are there to make sure you and your pet have the best possible experience and outcome.
