Also came with a huge wedge of cake. The chicken was very flavorful and fried well. The green beans were tasty as well. I wasn't a fan of the cake..a bit dry. And who doesn't love a creamy Mac n cheese. I had heard great things about the food here so I was glad I was finally able to try it. They lived up to their reputation.

A quintessential…read moremeat-and-three in the Auburn area, Pannie-George's definitely gives patrons a truly southern experience. I've been to hundreds of these local eateries all over the Southeast and will offer my honest opinion. In true Lower Alabama fashion, the fried chicken batter is thin and crispy (not thick and crunchy), the mac 'n' cheese is runny but cheesy, and the pork chops are soaked in gravy. It's delicious comfort food for the after-church crowd pouring in on a Sunday, or customers looking for an affordable bite to eat on a weekday. There are some downsides that prevented my rating from mirroring the stratospheric and glowing reviews on user-driven platforms like Yelp. While the batter is wonderful, the chicken is dry. The rice is uneventful. And the mac 'n' cheese was a little runnier than I prefer but wonderfully flavorful nonetheless. The choices for bread were stale Hawaiian rolls or homemade cornbread. For dessert, the lemon pie is quite delicious. And the experience is authentic and enjoyable. I recommend Pannie-George's for a simple, hearty meal.

I went around 2PM, and there were about 10 tables and one person dining inside. There were lots of take-out customers coming by the restaurant. The restaurant serves diverse Southern meat items and veggie side items to choose from at order, along with daily meat and dessert special items. I ordered one meat (country fried steak) and three veggies (French fries, cole slaw, and rice w/gravy). The total was $9.25+tax=$10.76. Tip: students, military, and 65+ with ID gets a free drink. For over $10, I was worried that the food was overpriced. However, I changed my mind when the server brought out my food on the tray. On the plastic dish, I received reasonable size steak with my side items in three different containers. The steak was thick enough and the fries were freshly fried. This place should be your go-to place for good amount of food for a reasonable price. My friend was happy with his choice: two pieces of fried pork chuck and crispy fried okra didn't disappoint him. Mac-and-cheese had good flavor, and my cole slaw was crunchy and fresh. The service I received was also amazing: when I asked him what today's special item Chicken Dressing was, he gave me a sample so I could actually taste instead of imagining. I am definitely coming back to try other items and, hopefully, desserts also.

She sounded really young so I thought maybe they're busy and I gave it to her again. She gave me the total for the order and we hung up. I got there at 1:30, there was one couple at a table but other than that it was empty. I go to the counter and say I'm there for a pickup order. The girl says we don't have any pickup orders. I tell her I called and placed an order. She says are you sure you called this location? I tell her yes, because I talked to you (recognized her voice), you didn't write down my order and I had to give it to you twice. She never acknowledges that I spoke with her, just keeps saying they don't have an order and am I sure I called that store. Very casual, she obviously couldn't care less. I said that's fine and left. My phone was in the car, so before I left the parking lot I redialed the number I used before because I was beginning to think I was either crazy or being punked. She answered and I said I'm just checking the number to make sure it's you. She says mmm hmm and hangs up on me. I hate leaving bad reviews and try to give servers the benefit of the doubt because I know it's a hard job, but this was nuts.
