She ended up taking our dog (with two 6-inch long and pretty deep scratches on her abdomen) to another vet in Tallahassee where the treatment of the dog took another 6 hours - obviously quite the emergency. Even with my wife leaving with an injured animal, no follow-up phone call to us from the vet or the receptionist finding out how our dog was doing and whether we had found a place to treat her.
