I unexpectedly had a flat tire on my way to the gym on a Saturday. I was stressed because I now need 4 new tires, since my SUV is all wheel drive. I called a few places and no one had 4 tires Luckily LB had the 4 tires I needed! They were very courteous and helpful. They were booked but they said they would squeeze me in. My car got towed there and they got the job done. The tires were expensive but I didn't have a choice. My usual spot for tires is Costco but that's in Kona and I'm on Hilo side. Needed to get the radiator hose replaced and made an appointment to fix the problem. Parts needed to be ordered in since they weren't available locally. Parts arrived on March 5th, schedule an appointment for Saturday, March 8th, to commence with repairs. Also needed to fix one of the hood latches since it broke in the morning, before heading into our appointment. Luckily, the latch cable was available locally, so both repair tasks could be done at the same time. Very happy with a well done job, am grateful to Malie and Rose for their assistance in the matter. Emerald and the team of Lex Broadies Hilo were a huge help 2-31-23. I was far from home with our 8 Kohala High Cheerleaders at the BIIF championship. Our school van tire was bulging and dangerous. Scheduled a fluid maintenance appointment with them and showed up before the scheduled time. No problem, as I was checked in by Nikkole and she completed the pre-inspection and the truck was driven into an open bay...before the scheduled appointment. Fantastic!!! The work was completed in a timely manner and upon meeting with Nikkole, I was provided a comprehensive report on the completed jobs and more importantly, some recommendations from the technician on other small jobs should be considered. The timing was incredible as many customers came in after me for either scheduled or walk ins and the staff answered most of the work requests that weren't scheduled. All in all, the team from Lex Brodie's continues to do a fantastic job on the vehicles, keeping the customers informed, and have again earned 5 Stars from a satisfied customer. Well my first experience was last week, I needed rear tires. I roll in my passenger rear was almost flat. The gentleman hooked me up with a tire I never heard of, ok just because I never heard of it means nothing.... I love the tire. But first when they were finished the gave me a report on things they check and one was my transmission fluid, ( transmission was messed up, slipping but I never said anything). So I was very impressed. I made an appointment right then for 2 more tires and a transmission fluid replacement. When I got the care back it was like a brand new car. Lex Brodie's Tire was the first, and only, place Hilton Double Tree staff, and again at Blue Hawaiian Helicopter staff recommended. I tried four times calling Budget's Emergency Roadside Assistance line, average call length of 1-hour on automated hold (with one call topping out at just over 2-hours). frank I believe is his name but can I just say that he helped myself and my three keiki so much! i waited in my truck for about 15 mins just contemplating having all three kids and getting out of my truck and facing the situation at hand with a nail in my truck tire! i will never get that waisted time back of sitting there in anxiety but I will say I will never do that again bc boy was I surprised at the complete 360 degree amazing service I received from Frank at the shop! helped get my spare on there for me and get the quote all while I got to sit in an AC room and he even gave my kids toys out of a treasure box they had there at the shop!! i for sure will be back to get our two tires replaced and I am beyond grateful for the customer service I received the business core values was on the wall while waiting there and the ones I read they met all of them! mahalo Nui loa for such care for my ohana and myself! Made an appointment to bring my new car in to have new tire sensors installed and get an oil change. 1. Tire sensor fiasco When i was given back my car, the tire sensors had not been properly synched to my car so I went back inside. I was told they didn't have the equipment to do it, and i'd have to come back after they borrowed it from the pahoa location. I scheduled another appointment and came back. My car disappeared into the shop for 15mins and i was told i was good to go. I got back in my car and the light was still on. "oh we never got the computer from pahoa to do it." after they wasted my time They called the pahoa store and I drove down there to have it done. why didn't they just send me there to start with? they should have said, "sorry, take it to pahoa they can properly install and connect your sensors to your car" 2. Oil Change problem Within days of my oil change, my "engine oil level too low" light came on and found that i was leaking oil from the drain plug because they reused a one-time use only crush ring. I was told Lex Brodies is notorious for hiring mechanics straight out of school, and alot of careless mistakes like this happen alot. Scary. I came to get a safety check and after they let me know I wasn't going to pass, the man asked if I wanted a print out of my fail. I've never failed a safety check at lex Brodie's before so I said yes, expecting to get a print out of why my car didn't pass. To my misunderstanding, I didn't realize I would need to pay for this print out as it wasn't explained to me, yet was assumed and implied I'd still have to pay the $26.11. If I brought it my car back within 30 days and passed safety, I wouldn't have to pay. I refused to pay bc I didn't want to bring it all the way back to a lex Brodie's when I have other options that are closer to home. The man asked the female employee in the room, who asked for the full story, and continued to tell me that it's MY FAULT I didn't know. For all normal business operations, it is on the business to explain full disclosure for when payment is to be expected. How can a consumer make an informed decision without all of the information? She was rude, lacked professional communication skills and fortunately escalated to her manager who said if I didn't take the paper, I wouldn't have to pay. Lesson learned. To the bitchy female employee, learn how to communicate with customers so they don't leave a terrible review for YOU. The rest of the MALE workers were helpful, apologetic and gracious. read more

I made an appointment online for an oil change, tire rotation, and alignment check. When I checked in I was asked if I bought my tires from Lex Brodie's, I said no, so I was told the tire rotation itself would cost $67 and the oil change would be about $100. The alignment check was free but if they found it to be off, then there would be an extra charge to fix it. The total cost including tax was $171 which I thought was really high considering I did the same service a year ago at a Lex Brodie's on Oahu for $75. I figured, maybe last year there was a special for a free tire rotation with an oil change and they just didn't have it here at this time. But after reading Yelp reviews after my appointment, apparently the Hilo location just has a different pricing policy so if you don't buy tires from them, you have to pay a stupid amount to rotate the tires (note: I was never asked on Oahu if I bought my tires from Lex Brodie's) The service itself was fine (although the total time took nearly 3 hours) and the alignment turned out to be fine so I didn't need to pay extra there. I just wish there was more transparency on pricing beforehand since I couldn't find anything on their website before going in. Here's a little price comparison I found while digging up old receipts (all oil changes and tire rotations on the same car): 2017 (Oahu) - $37.92 2019 (Oahu) - $67.79 2020 (Oahu) - $75.12 2021 (Hilo) - $171.51 I know the cost of everything goes up over time and maybe in 2017 there was a really good deal I snagged but idk. Even if I had lied and said I got my tires here to save $67, the cost would've drikl been $104. I'll be trying Goodyear or Firestone next to see how they compare read more

Police report #21-070408 Update 2: (December 4th 2021) Before I had the alignment done on my Dodge Ram 1500 (see below) I had you do an oil change in Kona for my 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid (Vehicle ID HI-ZFY908 check your records) and your shop used 0w20 instead of the 0w16 that is required. Can't hide or fool anyone on this one it's on the sticker your Kona team put on my windshield. Lost 10mpg on my hybrid and couldn't figure why till I checked the sticker, sure enough it said 0w20 not 0w16 like even the oil cap says clearly. As soon as I had the correct oil 0w16 put in my mileage went right back to normal. Your guys are so completely incompetent they cannot even use the right oil for the cars, but I'm sure your guys can be trusted they didn't break my stereo too. What a joke. Stay away from these guys unless you want them to screw up your cars then deny it. I'll change this review the moment I am contacted about either of my vehicles. Otherwise if you don't stand behind your services this review will remain. Brought in my lifted Dodge Ram 1500 to have an alignment done. They broke my touchscreen stereo and claimed they didn't touch it. I have the receipt for its recent install. Cops called report number will be provided in update. We had really good service the first time we came here but this second time back has been awful. First thing when we came in the guy behind the counter told us it was going to be a long wait because we were an hour late. Luckily, I had the confirmation e-mail that confirmed our appointment was at 11. They were clearly running behind and thought they could blame the customer, thinking we would have no proof. However, even with our appointment and us agreeing to the new tires they up sold us, we are still sitting here two and half hours later and they haven't even started our alignment. If you want to blow a good chunk of your day waiting around this is the place for you. Appointments obviously mean nothing to them. read more

5 stars for tires, zero stars on everything else. Avoid this place like the plague when it comes to auto repairs not related to tires, monkeys would do a better job. Two mishaps so far, one is we took a car for inspection before buying it, they said nothing about a worn out control arm and front end. Later they wouldn't pass the safety because the front end was shot. #fail! Then there are the ridiculous diagnosis fees, which are a rip off. Next mishap is our car won't start so they charge us a diagnostic fee, they claim it's the battery terminal, which they proceed to fix with a wood screw. But the car still won't start and they charged us again for a diagnosis fee which amounts to nothing. These diagnostic fees should be outlawed in Hawaii, they are illegal in other States. read more

I took our Tesla Model X in for an alignment and tire swap this past week. I was met by Epi (my go-to guy!). He's become familiar with Teslas as I've taken the Model S and X there for alignment work. I highly recommend this company. The team is professional and pays attention to details - I really appreciate the seat and floor protectors that they place before getting into the vehicles, the comfortable waiting room (nice seating, A/C, plugs for your mobile devices, coffee and tea, water, free WiFi, cable TV, and video monitoring where you can view the cars being serviced), and the thoughtful service (the service advisor periodically checking in to advise of progress). Importantly, they are making it a point to understand Tesla cars and how to handle them. A key area of concern is how to properly jack up the vehicles, in order to avoid damaging the expensive battery pack. Epi and team - thanks for the excellent service this past Friday. We found a nail in our front tire. It was time to change out the front tires so I called Lex Brodie's in Hilo first thing in the morning. They had my tires in stock and let me come in right away. Great service and friendly dudes. They also seem to have some good social distancing and cleaning practices in place to keep both customers and employees safe. We waited 3. 5 hours for a safety check on a new horse trailer and ended up walking out. At hour 2 we saw the inspector evaluate the trailer (he checked blinkers, breaks, his associate pulled our trailer forward). Assuming we would be close to closing out and paying, we checked in and were told the paperwork wasn't ready. No problem. At 3.5 hours we were puzzled by what was taking so long, but wanting to be respectful and asked if we could pay and pick up the paperwork later. We were then told that the trailer was never inspected. What?! Not to mention, it's a new trailer with no registration yet, all we needed was a failed safety. We walked out, went down the street to Chica Nakano's. 20 minutes or less later we had our failed safety for the trailer and they even safety checked our truck! Time is valuable, especially when you only have the weekend to get stuff done. That was just ridiculous. We are loyal Lex Brodie customers and felt 100% let down. However, the guy who initially helped us, Journey, was really nice. It was out of his hands, but he tried his best. read more

This service is a zero star! Appointment was at 1:00 to do an alignment. I got a call saying they were not able to do the alignment correctly and didn't have time to correctly do it. I also asked them to check a slow leak in my tire and they didn't even attempt to look at it. Then they tried to make me pay for it and asked me to schedule another appointment to retry. The manager stayed hiding letting his employee take the heat. He should have at least came out to apologize! I had to fight to not pay. Waste of my day. read more
