When chicken doesn't fall apart with just a knife, or your fingers easily, it only means: it's not fully cooked! The rock fish, on the other hand, is also appealing outside, and all, but it wasn't cooked inside. (see photo). I figured: FUSION means: frozen inside and quickly cooked outside, to meet in demand. The chef won an award in 2022, but quality had gone down, when foods are not getting cooked right. Customers, want consistency, and they want their money's worth.

We also got a large side of lumpia, which was not bad, but rather, decidedly average, so it suffered in comparison to the superb entrees. Additionally, they sliced it into small diagonal-cut (think of the way ziti pasta is cut) pieces, which I imagine was done for the sake of presentation, but I didn't find it visually appealing in the least. No matter, it's a mere trifle compared to the overall meal. The Sapin Sapin dessert was also fantastic, and somehow we made room for that after eating the generous entrees. The service was attentive and professional without being overbearing. Definitely coming back here again, and so are the two Filipinas (Tacloban and Mindanao). I think that sums it up neatly, right?

When we try a new place, we usually order several different dishes so we can get a good variety of what they have to offer. We ordered three plates, and he asked, "How many people are you ordering for because you already have three plates?" That comment didn't sit right with us, but we let it go. As we continued ordering different items, he made more awkward comments, including, "Are you sure you want that? It's the same thing, just made differently." We honestly didn't understand why he was trying to discourage us from ordering. If someone is willing to pay for the food, why try to talk them out of buying it? It left us feeling very unwelcome. We waited nearly 30 minutes for our food, which we understood because we ordered a good amount. But when the food came out, there were no pleasantries or anything that made us feel welcomed as customers. Unfortunately, the customer service completely overshadowed the experience for us. Customer service is a big pet peeve of mine. If I feel like I'm being treated unpleasantly or made to feel unwelcome, I'm not likely to return. Safe to say, we will not be going back. As for the restaurant itself, it is very small. There were only about two tables inside, along with some outdoor seating, so I would not recommend it for larger groups. Three people would probably be the most comfortable for the indoor space. The food itself was okay. Honestly, I think we may have rated it higher if we had a better experience with the customer service. The two dishes we really enjoyed were the dinuguan and laing. They also give a good portion of rice. The WiFi passcode wasn't posted, we had to leave our table to ask a staff for it, and even then, it didn't work for either of our phones. The intent of a digital-only ordering system clashed hard with the reality. I suggested they keep a few printed menus on hand as backup. Kiaha, the owner, was incredibly attentive and responsive.
