    Chicken Mochiko
    Matthew B.

The reviews looked amazing so I needed to come by and try this place. The truck itself looked good with no noticeable issues. It shares a space with a Mexican food truck which also looked great. The gentleman who helped me was extremely friendly and chatted with me and my son a bit. We ordered the Pork Adobo and waited an appropriate amount of time before it was ready. The gentleman asked if my son liked chicken which I responded yes. He set my son up with the Chicken Mochiko and said he wouldn't have to share with me. Super nice and generous. Got home and got started. Wow!! The pork was great! Very tender and flavorful and a huge portion. The chicken had great flavor and was also tender. All around amazing experience and I will be back!!

Always check their instagram that morning to see if they are open, message them if you're not sure. I made my husband drive 40 minutes there and 40 minutes back, and when he saw the food he didn't even mind! The food was amazing! We got 2 Lau Lau mix plates. One with mochiko chicken and one with kalua pig. Two meals were heavy as we carried them to the car. Locals from Hawaii mostly waiting for their food was a great sign! No seating, but the food was HOT still after driving 40 minutes home.

Nolan always has ono grindz and never disappoints!! We always order Lau laus mixed plate mochiko chicken, guava chicken, and kalua pork. Always makes us feel like family especially since we have been going to him for 8-9 years! Shakas up braddah!

This place is always amazing. The mochiko chicken, guava chicken, and the pastele stew are always must orders. Life changing, try to get here early so options are not sold out!

    Pastele Stew

Wow...where do I begin? Food was ONOLICIOUS! I was immediately transported back to the islands after my first bite! The owner/cook was friendly and chatted with us about Hawaii as he was preparing our food. He thought we were from the islands since we were asking questions about the Pastele Stew. Told him about our favorite place for Pastele Stew on Oahu. Now for the food... We ordered 2 mixed plates. One with Lau Lau and Kalua Pork. The other with Pastele Stew and Mochiko chicken. Portions are generous. The two combos fed 3 of us and we had leftovers for the following day. Hubby loved his Lau Lau. He said it was the bomb! I wouldn't know since he didn't share. My favorite was the Pastele Stew. It's hard to find good Pastele Stew even in Hawaii. The only thing missing was Chicken Long Rice. Mahalo for the awesome Hawaiian food! Definitely will be back!

Mix plates! I tend to go overboard. But so good Short ribs, Pastele Stew and Mochiko Chicken!

So I seriously stock them on IG to see if they're open! I drive 20 mins to pick up food. Lunch or dinner.. doesn't matter. Something about their food is so comforting. And the owners, hands down the nicest people ever! Located in a corner on their own. Easy parking, on 82nd. Look for the flower shop!

"Hawai'i has often been called a melting pot, but I think of it more as a 'mixed plate'-a scoop of rice with gravy, a scoop of macaroni salad, a piece of mahi-mahi, and a side of kimchi." -- Alan Brennert, Honolulu Driving up to this little cart in a nondescript tiny lot next to a flower shop doesn't really give you the impression that you're in for something special... ...BUT YOU ARE. There is LOVE in these plate lunches. There is ALOHA in this food. A few bites of the PASTELE STEW will having you hollering ONO and MAHALO witih every bite. There's pork cubes in a mildly tangy tomato based sauce with some olives, and achiote (I think). My favorite thing on the menu. The Mac salad is the best I've ever tasted. Friends - there is potato in there. There is some hard boiled egg in there. There's the usual mac, mayo, and shredded onion in there. There's probably secret ingredients in there. And its all balanced perfectly. The GUAVA CHICKEN is 'gazmic. The KALUA PORK is delicious. The dude who owns the cart is a WHOLE VIBE. Seriously - Get the Pastele Stew. It is incredible. The closest thing I've ever tasted that might be similar is my mom's Filipino Cocido. Apparently it has Puerto Rican roots, and got filtered through a bunch of Hawaiian grandmas to become the delicious dish it is now. Effing magical.

Favorite Hawaiian plate food in town, hands down. PRO TIP: You've gotta follow his IG page though, his hours are wonky. So check his IG before you head out to make sure he is open. He closes when food runs out (it's a popular place, so it happens) and he closes when things come up with weather or personal life. That being said, more than worth it for the extra effort to get this food in your belly. His chicken is like crack and his Mac salad is our favorite. The portions are also huge. You really cannot go wrong! Parking is easy, service is fast, the music he plays is A+. Now go get you some Iolani's.

You would see that it's going to a motel, you would think to add the silverware. Fortunately, I was able to get silverware from my motel's breakfast room. The lumpia were very good. They were not greasy at all. They are smaller than standard eggrolls, but because they use more meat and less veggies than your standard eggroll, they pack a lot more flavor. Everything inside was seasoned well, and I really enjoyed them. They came with a vinegar based dipping sauce that I liked The "garlic Ponzu" salmon poke? No, not nearly as good. For the price they were charging, it was not a very big portion. Besides that, it just wasn't that good. A good salmon is normally pink to orange. This salmon was barely pink. I couldn't taste the garlic or the Ponzu at all. The veggies were crisp, the rice was a good quality, but there was just no seasoning. The salmon was very bland. I didn't know if it was just because of the seasoning, maybe they used a low quality or a previously, frozen salmon. I love good salmon. This was not good salmon. For the price I paid, not counting the DoorDash fees because those are added in anyway, I just felt I didn't get my moneys worth. Next time I'm in the area, I will find another place. Thanks anyway.
