I wanted my sausage, specially pork, cooked more!
Flory W.

The first time we encountered this restaurant, was when we were looking for another restaurant, but we couldn't find them. We passed this restaurant then, and we wanted to try them out, but they were closing, at 2:00pm. Hubby remembered, this Filipino restaurant, so here we try again. I'm not impressed with the fact, that: No one greeted us, as we entered. We weren't sure, if we need to sit ourselves, or order first. There's music playing, so we were not exactly sure, what the staff was saying. But, I asked, if we just sit ourselves. We did. Then, I was sure, he said something like: I'll bring you guys water . . . I wasn't sure, if before we order, or after we order. Again, we just sat and studied the menu, and yes, we would have like the water, for we were thirsty! I'm Filipino, and there's a couple there that I didn't understand, it would be nice, if someone could explain them to us, before we ordered. We used our phone to search what it was. I ordered the Longanisa, housemade Filipino pork sausage and Beef Tapa. And a Side Salad of arugula, red onion, pepperoncini, olive oil, we shared. Hubby thought liked his order. I think they're tasty, but I'm not happy with my Longanisa. I thought, the middle part of the sausage was still pink. See photo. I was eating around it, and ate the egg, and all the salad. I took the rest of my sausage, to re-cook at home for another breakfast. I like the fact, that we can eat with real utensils, and thick napkins.

CHICKEN ADOBO (soy vinegar braised chicken thigh, leeks, garlic rice)

As the proud wife of a Filipino husband, I've really grown to love Filipino food over the past 20+ years that we've been together. It's become comfort food for me. And I'm happy to say that during our recent visit to Sun Rice, our meal totally hit the spot and made me feel like I was home. We experienced Sun Rice by attending a private Cho Wines event during an early Saturday afternoon. A perfect opportunity to enjoy our favorite wines and discover new favorite foods. And the weather was gorgeous, so the street was busy with lots of foot traffic. We arrived and were immediately greeted by both the Cho Wines and Sun Rice team members. The vibe was friendly, welcoming, lively and helpful. We shared the Chicken Adobo (soy vinegar braised chicken thigh, leeks, garlic rice), which was so tender, perfectly cooked and the rice was perfectly garlicky. We also shared the BBQ Pork Belly Sandwich (house made bbq spice blend, sweet and sour bbq glaze, sunny egg, atchara, garlic rice) which was the perfect brunch sandwich. We sipped on Cho wines, including their bubbly, Pinot and a red blend, which is my new fave. We visited with friends and had a lovely afternoon. Service was great. The space is huge with lots nice outdoor and indoor seating, plenty of room for activities and different kinds of events. I look forward to our next visit and getting to experience more items from the menu.

Broccoli Salad

An incredible hidden gym we stumbled across today. From the get go the service and vibe was exactly what we look for in a restaurant. We felt like we were invited into someone's home to try their tasty treats. The broccoli salad is new to the menu and is likely the best veggie you can find in this city. The pork belly was cooked to perfection and that egg on top completely elevated the dish. We had the chance to talk to the chef, the bartender, and the front of house service, and all three just made you feel so welcome! You can't fake joy and they really took delight in how much we loved their food! Can't wait to try their brunch menu!

Lechon kawali sisig

Pretty good spot fot Filipino food in PDX. I tried their lechon kawali sisig which was pretty good. However it was good but not outstanding. I would be down to try other things here in the future though.

Elaine H.

The food was great! They had a special plant based menu the day I went. Everything was so good and the drinks were really unique. You would order with the front and then they would bring the food to you once it's ready. Food came out pretty quick! Id love to try their brunch sometime and see what the vibes were like.

Pork belly and Veggie curry bowl

SunRice is an amazing option for lunch situated in the Moxy hotel, which provides a fun and lively atmosphere. The veggie bowl had a good depth of flavor and creaminess in the curry sauce, which paired nicely with the garlic rice. Everything here was cooked perfectly and in particular the pork belly was some of the best I've ever had.

SEARED FISH FILET BOWL*

I was looking for something quick, and this hit the spot. Simple, yet so delicious. The fish was perfectly crisp and packed with flavor, and even the rice had a great taste of its own--no bland sides here! It all came together as a comforting, home-style meal. Definitely one of those dishes that feels like a warm hug. You just order from the kiosk and they will call your name when it's ready.

This place was a bit hard to find since I didn't realize it was located inside the Moxy Hotel. It's a stall inside the hotel lobby and there are tables around. You order in the self service kiosk. I was expecting more things on the menu but there were only like two dishes. I ordered a pork belly bowl and thought it was alright. The pieces of pork were super hard and mostly fat pieces. I did really enjoy the rice and how it was seasoned and the spicy vinegar. Not something I'd come back for though.

CHICKEN ADOBO BOWL*
Margaret C.

So disappointed they removed parts of salad such as tomatoes and onions and the cucumbers are not as good anymore - tastes as if they were robbed of nutrients and became dry. There's also no egg anymore which was great for more protein. Prices didn't lower they were increased when I ordered through Inkind (asked me to order through the app instead). The chicken and rice are still delicious but it's not worth it anymore. Very sad!!

One word: BANGIN! Came here by myself for brunch, and it didn't disappoint. The bowl is filled with flavor, it's pretty good for you, and it's very filling. I ordered this to-go and my order was ready super quick. I would say the service is pretty spot on. It's located in a food hall kind of set up so the restaurant itself isn't quite large. Be mindful of seating if you plan on coming here. All it all, I'd definitely come back.

Wennie H.

Hefty portions, flavorful dishes, sweet employees, great ambience and plenty of seating. Really big fan of this eatery style that is popping up everywhere. The chicken was tender (and tons of it), the rice wasn't too garlicky and the cucumber tomato combo offered a nice freshness. The ube mochi donut had a great chew and the flecks of coconut provided a nice textural difference.

BBQ PORK BELLY BOWL*

Sunrice is a hidden gem--literally! It's located inside the Moxy Hotel, but without a sign outside, it was a bit tricky to find. I walked past it once before realizing where to go. Once inside, the space is modern and inviting. Parking is street parking only, so depending on the time of day, it might take a little effort to find a spot. The menu here is super simple--just four options, which I actually appreciate. Sometimes, less is more! I went with the crispy pork belly over garlic rice, and wow--it did not disappoint. The pork belly was one of the best I've ever had, perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside. The garlic rice complemented it so well, adding just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the dish. While the limited menu might not be for everyone, if you're a fan of pork belly, this spot is definitely worth checking out. I'd come back just for that dish alone! If they put up a sign outside, I'm sure more people would discover this little treasure.

Hannah I.

Sun rice is located inside the Moxy hotel, it is a little self order stand that will text you when your food is ready. You can sit anywhere in the hotel lobby which is really cute and cozy. The food was good, nothing spectacular. The pork belly bowl was $17 and came with a lot of food, pork was cooked well and the rice had a good flavor. If you're looking for a quick meal this is a good option but there are other asian breakfast spots I would pick over this.

When we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome by bringing my guest a drink on the house for their retirement celebration. I knew the menu but tried some new things! We shared everything. My favorite item I have to order each time is the Tuna Tartar. Its favors are rich but delicate. The presentation is perfect and my guest was impressed. I got the dumplings for her but if I had to skip something I'd do those. They were good but compared to all the other items we had, they were lacking. The only thing not pictured is our wagu braised with sweet potato. That was phenomenal. It pulled apart and melted in your mouth with every bite. We ended with two very different deserts, the strawberry mochi and whipped crem brûlée type desert. Both were tasty. Price range for all plus three alcoholic drinks was $165 not including tip. We were full and happy. Great service as always and it was full, busy house tonight inside the place. I wouldn't change anything other than trying some new things next time to add!

My favorite items of the visit were the sake selection, the whole fried snapper (best bite - amazing), the tuna tartare with furikake chips and caviar, and the super tender beef cheek. The mushroom small plate was also pretty good! I didn't like as much the milk buns, they were just ok and I only liked 1 (rooftop grown chive) of the 3 butter shmears it came with. Wasn't woth $6 per bun. While it was a quality cut of meat, the Snake River Wagyu steak dish needed salt and the sauce below it wasn't as flavorful. Perhaps needed cracked black peppercorn, or something to punch up that flavor. I wasn't as impressed with the octopus salad either. Very scant thin tiny octopus slices on top salad greens with lots of sliced raw bell peppers. You'd think it should be called a bell pepper salad with the amount it had in it, instead of the hard-to-find octopus! I couldn't detect a flavor note of the dressing either. Other dishes we tried were lobster bao buns and the seared scallop on jalepeno grits... they were ok but lacked a little flavor. I could not taste the jalepeno on the scallop dish, and the lobster slices were fairly scant and not very succulent. We split the strawberry mochi cake for dessert and it was fun that they added Pop Rocks on top, but the mochi was too tough and dense. A chiffon cake or something light would've been a nicer alternative to end a rich dinner. Service was excellent, and each person who spoke to us or delivered a dish was beautiful & friendly. Be prepared to share dishes when you come here, about 2/3 per person. Prices are on the higher side but I think it matches with the sophisticated ambiance and quality of food. Lots of free parking in the Cascadia parking lot just outside. Will likely come again down the road, for a date night.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

One of the best parts was how approachable the bartenders were. We asked for custom drinks based on our preferences, and both came out perfectly tailored. Creative without being weird, and strong without being sloppy. What really stood out was the price point. For the quality of cocktails, the prices felt very reasonable compared to similar craft cocktail bars in other cities. The vibe was also great -- relaxed, cozy, and not pretentious. It felt like a place where you could come for a special drink experience without feeling like you had to "perform" or order off a rigid menu. We liked it so much we actually came back a second time during our trip. Highly recommend if you're into well-crafted cocktails, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back but elevated atmosphere.
