Libertino Lanes is an excellent place to stop in when you want to spend some of your evening bowling in Chincoteague. You walk in the alley seems like a place frozen in time. The carpeting has that classic bowling alley pattern ubiquitous in every bowling alley ever. The scoring machines are still kicking from 1985. There won't be any fancy animations on the TV screens when you win save for an X for a strike and slash line for a spare. But you don't need that; you're just here to go bowling. There are 8 lanes available and they get the job done. There rest of the inside has that classic bowling alley carpet and while there aren't many arcade games anymore, there is a claw machine and a "Cruising USA" available. The roof is very old and in need of repair, so you will see some tarp covering a few spots and a few ceiling tiles with a few water spots. Mr. Libertino himself welcomed us as we walked in and got us set up with our shoes and even set the lane up for us. Child #1 and Child #2 were happy to have the bumpers up. Child #2 also appreciated having a bowling ramp since even the 6-pound balls are a little unwieldy at his age. There is a snack area with Pepsi product fountain sodas available for $2.25. Several snack food options are listed, but it seeing as the whole place was a one-man operation, so I really don't know if he is going to run a fryer for chicken tenders or if they're microwaved. Hours are limited. Mr. Libertino said he does this in addition to his regular day job at a garage, hence he's only open from 6:00-9:00 in the evenings (Tuesday through Friday) and 4:00-9:00 on Saturday. When I asked why it's closed on Sundays, he explained that so few people came on Sundays, so they're closed that day. This is clearly a labor of love by a man with a passion for bowling. He added that he'd be up anyway or would otherwise go to bed early enough that he'd wake up so early, so he figured he might as well keep offering the chance for folks to bowl. He said most folks come when it's rainy or when mosquitoes are so bad. Just be aware of that when you might have a wait. As of this writing, it's about $6 per person per game and shoe rentals a little over $3. So not too bad an experience. Libertino's is nothing fancy but a nice respite from the usual entertainment in a small beach town. Come in and enjoy life at a more relaxed pace and have fun knocking down some pins. read more

Not sure if this is a recent issue, but my family and I visited recently and noticed a strong mold smell. It was apparent as soon as we opened the door. Although the atmosphere seemed nice, the smell wasn't pleasant and ultimately we weren't able to stay. Hopefully this issue can be resolved in the future as Chincoteague Island is a beautiful place to spend vacation and deserves a beautiful bowling alley. read more

Owner is super friendly and nice, and our kids enjoyed two games of bowling. This is definitely a classic alley - great way to spend some time in the cool when you need a break from the sun and beach. It will be a regular stop when we're in Chincoteague! read more

The only bowling alley on the island! It's been around for about 10 years and the building itself has been many other businesses in the past. The building was originally built sometime in the 60s and you'll get that vibe when you walk inside! A true classic set-up! There are 8 total lanes, 4 lanes on each side. The alley features a snack bar, small arcade section, plenty of house bowling balls, shoe rental, and a snack bar. My fiancée and I had a blast! The staff is very friendly and informative! We went on a Saturday afternoon and paid $4 a person per game and $2 for the shoe rental. Very affordable pricing especially considering the location. Great family atmosphere! Plenty of parking on the side of the building and around the back of the building. Also, there is a bike rack outside the alley. The alley is located in a residential area. Family owned and operated. Amazing service, great time, and we will be back! read more

This is the cleanest bowling alley I've ever been in! The shoes, the seating areas, the bathroom - all sparkling! The lady (owner?) who was working was very nice. Small place - 8 lanes, concessions, 4 arcade games. My boyfriend and I both kind of suck at bowling but we had fun playing! We didn't buy anything to eat or play any of the arcade games. read more

I want to second the point about this being the cleanest bowling alley ever. It does not look like they get a lot of business here, but are working very hard to provide a good experience. This bowling alley is clean, quiet, and well maintained. The technology is certainly not new--but why would that really matter in a bowling alley? This small bowling alley would be an excellent location for a party or other social event--and you can be certain the staff work work hard for it. The prices are very low. They must do this to attract local business, but as a tourist I almost felt guilty about paying so little. read more

What a fun experience!!! For starters, the staff was super friendly. My fiancé and I went two times during our trip and first we spoke with Mr.Libertino who gave us rookies some tips on how to actually bowl. And than we met Mrs.libertino the next time and she was very kind. It's cool because each game is $4.50 and shoe rental is $2.50, where I'm from, that's the cost of the game only lol. A great option on a rainy day. The bowling alley is clean and affordable. Games were $4.50 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and under. Shoe rental was $2.00 per person and they have socks available to buy for $1.75. They have a snack bar with wings, pizza, etc. but we did not try the food. There are only 8 lanes but we went on a Saturday night and were the only ones there for most of our 2 games. read more

It's not fancy, but it was a lot of fun on a rainy day. I'm pretty sure the owner was running the place the day we visited and he was so nice to us. We had a great time. Ask for bumpers if you bring kids. read more

We love this charming place. It's a bit older, but it has a classic feel and the staff is super nice. The only reason we rate 4 stars is that there are some roof leaks that have been needing repair for quite some time which are starting to give the place a bit of a musty smell. Honestly if they would just fix those leaks that place would be perfect! read more

Love this bowling alley! The owner was so nice, even gave us some tips. Small with 8 lanes and plenty of off street parking! Roof is in desperate need of repair and tarps are up to divert water away from lanes. Didn't matter to us as he had great music playing and was very friendly. Shoes were new and there were lots of balls for use. We did not use concessions, bathroom or play arcade games but menu looked appetizing. Hopefully roof repairs are made soon as it'd be a shame to see this bowling alley go, in a beach town there's not much to do on a rainy day! read more

My family and I went bowling here while on vacation and we all had a fantastic time! The building doesn't look like much from the outside (it is a little hard to tell that it's a bowling alley inside), but the inside is very nice! Like all of the other reviews said, it is very clean and pleasant inside. The man who owns/runs the lanes was very friendly. It is only 8 lanes, but it is perfect for a small town like Chincoteague. Also, it a great activity to do at night or when the weather is bad. We will definitely go again next time we are down here! read more
