Visited here last night with a group of 6 during our OC vacay. Not much to look at from outside but the inside is impressively upgraded & quite clean, including the restrooms. Shoe rentals @ $4 and bowling @ $7.50pp/per game is very affordable. A lot better than the Alley Hoops ones also in the area. We had a fun night & will def be back in the future. read more

It could use some renovation, but like I said...it's a bowling alley...lol The lane did malfunction a few times. They gladly just switched us to a new lane... Of all my years in Ocean City, I had never been to Ocean Lanes until now! This was an awesome experience. Well priced, great service, and an especially cool atmosphere in the evening when the lights go down and the black light comes on. I didn't try their food or drink options, but the menu looks great so I look forward to giving it a go next time. Perfection for family bowling. It's hard nowadays to find a classic bowling alley that isn't trying to be 10 other things and charging an arm and a leg. This is the type of bowling alley I remember as a kid, but better. The inside was bright, clean, and had great music and a bar. The prices were super affordable, they played great music, and had glow bowling at night. They had 12 lanes that were really well kept, not over greased, and the ball returns were really fast. Ocean Lanes is a fine place if you want to bowl. It's affordable and the place is clean. The staff don't have a very welcoming vibe. Not a single smile on their faces and they all just seemed to be bothered by presence and just annoyed being there. We were very quickly greeted at the door and put on the waitlist. However, ordering food and stuff at a non busy bar was very much so a chore. Watching people come after us and get served, and staff BLATANLY looking at us and just walking past us. They kept serving one section. Not to mention the one bartender took like 5 years to serve one drink. Not to mention the cook is also serving the bar.. all while you can see him eating food through the door. This place definitely needs a manager present to umm idk manage the place. If there was one there it was definitely not noticeable. But if you just want to bowl coming here is definitely worth it. There are 12 lanes and it's like $10.50 for a game including shoe rental. $6.50 per person per game and $4.00 shoe rental. read more

The price was reasonable. It was $5.50 per player and $3.50 for shoe rental. Throughout the night out pins were not being set properly. We had to tell the worker at the cash register easily over 10 times to reset our pins. I wish there was a way for us to do it ourselves. If there is a way, we were not informed on how to do it. The bowling alley was pretty clean. They made sure to sanitize the shoes and I saw a worker vacuuming. Alcohol is sold here, but must leave food/drinks on tables outside of playing area. We enjoyed our experience here. Maybe next year on another rainy night, we would visit for more bowling fun. With a score of 20 out of 25 stars, I give this location a B- read more

Refused bar service to our 22 year old son and claimed it was a state law, which it is not. They just didn't want our business!

unfortunately i had a pretty bad experience here. so to start our night we asked for one lane, we came during the off season so it was pretty dead which was great at first. they charged us $8 at the door and gave us a lane. we saw they had a deal advertised "spend $15 at the bar and get 2 free games". we played our first game before deciding we wanted some food so we asked about the deal they offered. the older, shorter man told us if we spend $20 (not 15 as advertised) that we'd get two free games. i spent $25 on food and then proceeded to ask about the deal & the "manager" told me and my husband that if we spent an ADDITIONAL $20 that we'd get two games for FREE. i continued to spend another $22 and me and my husband played an additional 2 games. as we walked out the younger boy yells at us to come back and pay (after paying for the first game plus almost $50 in food) we asked to clarify about the deal and he didn't explain anything he just claimed we owed another $28 (two games worth that were supposed to be free and advertised and communicated by the manager) i asked if i could pay the $14 for one game and he proceeded to call the cops on us and cause a scene being disrespectful while me and my husband tried to calmly and respectfully explain what was communicated to us. the "manager" was nowhere to be found at this time he claimed he didn't wanna deal with our "shit". i ended up paying the $28 ontop of the $55 for food and shoes, etc. overall they were very disrespectful, terrible communicators and scammed us for our money. i don't recommend coming here if u don't wanna be convinced and scammed out of ur money. i also don't usually write reviews but the cops actually recommended it since we couldn't do much else. read more

This place saved a rainy beach day on our vacation! Advice: get there early on a rainy day as there was a line 15 min before that opened and luckily we got the 2nd to the last lane. There are 12 lanes I believe. The place was immaculately clean and updated with comfortable lounge couch instead of the old school plastic seats. The shoes and balls were in good condition- pretty new looking. Nice clean snack bar and a beer fridge with craft beers. If you are looking for a rock and roll bar place - this is not it. He is the younger guy with a tight haircut, you talk to him, you'll know. The place needs updating. When we arrived there was no one at the front for service. We stood there wondering where the staff was for 8 minutes. There is no air conditioning in the facility but a huge fan blowing hot air. You put your name down on the list for bowling and they do not keep track of who's next. So we arrive to this place and there is no one here. That's usually never a good sign. I wanted this place to be fun for my family but I was distracted by the employees that did everything except work. Here is what we experienced. No one smiled or greeted us. It was just a cold experience. During the one game we played, three workers played games, sat on the lanes and loved the F word. Really people, around kids. Cover your kids ears in this place. I had planned to play more games but this place was not worth anymore of my money. I know we were the only ones but this is a business that relies on customers for a profit. These employees need to be professional no matter how empty it may be. We only came here because it was a quick walk from the condo. We will not be back. If I could give this 0 stars I would. I have never been treated so badly in my life. I was on vacation with my family from Arizona. I was on my second drink and they decide to check my ID. After looking at my ID the owner starts screaming at me from across the alley that my ID is fake and he is calling the cops. I tried to explain to him that AZ IDs are different and I will be 30 this year. He did not want to hear it and continued to scream at me. He is lucky that he had a very nice women worker who came over to try to calm down the situation and explain what was happening. After researching AZ ids he realized my ID was not fake but could not even man up and apologize. It was embarrassing and down right harassment. I will never go here again. read more

The person at the desk was super rude and even starting cussing randomly and at one point just left. Only reason I'm giving it a 2 was because it was clean. As soon as arriving to Ocean Lanes, the staff member rolled his eyes (possibly to the large group of 9 people with 4 adults and 5 children). I asked the staff member at the desk what the pricing was and his response was "Its on the screen and you will see it when it rolls back but its $5 to bowl and $3 for shoe rental." Again, with a very bad attitude. He didn't even look at me to answer me. When I realized the pricing he also added that there was no credit card or debit card accepted. I asked if an ATM was on site and his response was "its 30 feet behind me." Just very unhappy and not great customer service at all. My boyfriend and I needed to get out of the sun for a while due to fried skin syndrome (i.e., a bad sunburn), so we decided to look on Yelp for a convenient bowling alley - we're in a league at home and figured that we could use some practice while we were staying in O.C. The only place that turned up was Ocean Lanes - a bit of a shock, as I think O.C. could really use another bowling alley or two, I bet it would be a lot more fun than some people think. With that said, Ocean Lanes is tiny. It's VERY tiny, compared to what we're used to at home. At our usual bowling spot, there's about 30 to 40 lanes available; Ocean Lanes has twelve. Yes, TWELVE. When we arrived, only one was occupied - the rest of the place was starkly empty. We actually weren't bothered by that, as it provided a good opportunity to get away from the crowds and the heat and the sun. The guy behind the counter told us to go ahead and bowl as many games as we wanted, and we could pay afterward - again, something that is a bit foreign to us, as the lanes at home want money upfront. This was a refreshing change. They have a really, REALLY nice facility at Ocean Lanes. The video screens have cute animated bowling cartoons after every frame, and it's pretty obvious that some work has gone into renovating and upkeep - the lanes function better than some of the ones at home, and the house balls are actually in better condition. We were REALLY surprised by this place, and the counter person talked to us a bit about how much they were trying to keep the alley going and the recent renovations that they've poured into it. It shows. Prices were a tiny bit more than we're used to - it's 4.50 per person per game, which for the two of us ended up about 36 dollars for 4 games. That's steep compared to the prices at home (we can get 2 hours of bowling for 20 bucks), but I think that little places like this really could use the business and the money, and it's really obvious that they're trying to make it fun for everyone that stops in. Besides, you can't even get a lot of things to do in O.C. for under 40 dollars, anyway - bowling is as fun as anything else! When we return to O.C., we'll definitely come back to Ocean Lanes. We came here over the summer on an extremely hot day. We wanted to spend time in the AC where it was nice & cool. Well they had their "AC" set to maybe 85 degrees. The place is extremely outdated. This place was pretty disappointing, not a single person in the bowling alley but my boyfriend and I, they had to turn the lights on for us to bowl. No music, just jeopardy on the tv blaring through the alley. More like ocean lames. Alright, so we walk in on July 3. First thing we notice is that there is a handwritten sign on a white board that reads "sorry bar closed/short staffed." There's two guys working. A cool dude with long hair and this absolute freak with an army cut in head to toe under armour. My party of 7 notices that a lane next to us is enjoying a couple of brews. Honestly, what's bowling without a couple pitchers? I walk up to Under Armour and mention that I notice the party next to us is having a couple beers. I ask him if there's any way we can also get two pitchers. He turns to me and repeats that they're short staffed on a holiday weekend. Fine. Then he serves another round to the nice old white people bowling. Ok, whatever, maybe they had an agreement. Disappointed but I'll carry on. We ask Under Armour at one point to reset the lane and he just erases our score. We ask him for change to get M&M's and in a strangely aggressive manner he mentioned that the last guy who he gave change to broke his charging station. I can't keep my eyes off this guy between frames. He was texting, he was fixing a picture frame, he started vacuuming. A great way to relax on New Year's Day! It was pretty packed when we got there. The owner said it would be about a 45 minute wait and we agreed to wait. We found an open table, someone ran across the street for a deck of cards, and we played a game while waiting to bowl! I think it was less than 45 minutes and we got our lane. The system was easy to use, the shoes were in good condition and we only encountered one technical difficulty which was quickly resolved. One thing I found strange was the seating at the lanes. There was just a couch behind each pair of lanes. So if you only had one side, like we did, you kind of awkwardly had to share the couch with the people using the other half. It's just not a very good use of space that's only ideal if you're using both lanes. The couch was much comfier than normal bowling chairs, though. read more

This place doesn't take credit cards in 2019, which is insane. Also, out of the countless bowling alleys I've been to across most of Maryland and other states in the area, I've never had one that told me they are going to charge me for water. If you get a water cup here, after the first one they will charge you to fill up that cup with water. I thought the lady was joking at first, I could not believe it. Not to mention that the oil on the lanes was horrific, so you couldn't throw anything without it hooking. So disappointed as my family loves bowling but we will never be coming back again. read more
