Day before school starts and of course I waited until now to get my son's haircut ha ha. I knew right away anywhere we went would most likely be busy. I had heard great things about this place so we stopped in while my car was getting washed nearby. Kill two birds with one stone right?! When we arrived it was packed as I thought, but we were greeted right away and asked to pick a number and have a seat. There were six barbers so I wasn't worried about too long of a wait. There seem to be quite a bit of regulars as well as first time customers. Numbers were called in order and ample time given for each person to have their turn. While there a woman and her son left and didn't come back for quite a while and when they did she was mad because her number had already been called. She caused quite the scene. One of the employees spoke to her, remained calm and apologized, but explained to her that they had called her number just like all others and when no one came they moved on. We were in and out with a great haircut; exactly how I asked it to be cut in under an hour. Good vibe, great service, good conversation. Waited a hour for nothing.! Stood outside watching the numbers for when my son's number was called. It was at 54 then jumped to 58 and my son's number was 56. They wouldn't even cut his hair. Incredibly awful service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! After waiting an hour to get a hair cut the lady said that I would be next only to have a gentlemen walk in and immediately go in the chair I was waiting for. When I ask why am I not next, she said I had not waited long enough and the gentlemen had reserved his place an hour ago and that he got his number before me. This was as a male barber decided to take his lunch with multiple customers waiting. Being that I didn't have the time, I decided to come in the next day, today. When they had another long line, I asked if I could take a number and come back shortly 45-hour (as the guy did to me the day before). I called ahead and stated that I had number 90, may I come in and have my place in line, the lady said yes if you can be here right away we will be ready for you. As I walk in, the lady said yes you are next. When the chair becomes available, the lady then tells the gentlemen sitting next to me he could be next. Immediately I says whoa-I should be next please. She again tells me I had not waited long enough. Then the male barber becomes rude with me out of no where. I was shocked by how they were handling customers. The guy took almost an hour and a half to fuck up a fifteen minute haircut. I grew my hair for eight months for this haircut. Then he blames me for it. He told me I tried to tell him to give me a fade. I am the whitest white boy in Maricopa county and the words give, me, and fade have never came out of my mouth in my life. Worst service ever! Perhaps I got ripped because I did not see this Freddy character that many reviews seem to rave about. What I did experience was horrible service. No one greets you as you come in. The two girls speaking spanish incessantly across the room to each other instead of greeting (or working for that matter). One of them having her kids in the place with her and cutting their hair while customers wait. Another stopping to wash more luke-warm towels while customers wait. All 3 on duty while I was there left customers to go outside or around the corner for long periods of time. And, after all of that a very sub-par haircut. It is tough to find a decent barber in Surprise and avoid the chain farms. However this experience left me with the need to keep looking elsewhere. Perhaps I will give it a try and ask for "Freddy" at some point, but this was such a bad experience maybe not. read more

Theresa quickly and efficiently gave me a great haircut and a hot towel massage. Unless you want to spend all day waiting for an average hair cut go somewhere else. If I could give this place a negative star review it would have it. I have been trying to give this place a chance for over a year now. -Dianna originally cut my hair and cut a part, that I asked for into my hair way higher than should have gone (the part was more towards the top of my head than to the side like it should have been. -Teresa then cut my hair, for over a year. She does a good job cutting hair. But, she never seems interested in working and/or taking care of customers. Numerous times I've seen her disappear into the back while the place was packed with people waiting for a hair cut. (She even did this to me numerous times, knowing I was waiting specifically for her to cut my hair.) -Edwardo was the last straw. I started letting him cut my hair after I had enough of Teresa. Edwardo is a good guy and is good at his job. But, it must be part of Liberty's hiring practice to make customers wait over an hour before you get your hair cut. Today was the final straw. I went in to get my hair cut, by Edwardo, he knew I was there to see him. He finished the cut he was on, about 20/25 minutes and then after he was done came to tell me that he was headed to lunch and wouldn't be back for an hour...at least. So, to get my hair cut, with only one person in front of me, it would have taken a minimum of an hour and 20 minutes!?! Never again!!! First, the pros: - You'll probably get a decent haircut here - You can watch baseball while you wait - Some of the barbers are very nice. Now the cons: - You'll probably wait at LEAST an hour for a haircut. Some of the barbers here are god-awful slow, and heaven help you if you show up when the faster barbers are on lunch (during my two hour visit, one of the barbers served TWO customers the entire time. He literally spent more time watching TV and talking on his phone than actually cutting hair). - If you are planning on coming here for a cut during lunch, be sure to plan on not eating lunch and cancelling any after-lunch appointments or meetings because you're likely to be here for a couple hours. - Some of the barbers won't shave your face. After you wait for 1.5 hours then finally get called, don't plan on getting what you wanted unless you plan on waiting longer. That, or plan on going home and spending another 20 minutes shaping your beard if you have one. To summarize, this place is great for people who want a decent haircut, and who have nothing better to do with their lives. If you're retired and lonely or just feel like spending a couple hours watching ESPN and other people getting haircuts instead of eating lunch or, well, doing anything else productive - this is the place for you. EDIT: I want to give some props to the girl who did finally cut my hair (I'm sorry but I forgot to ask her name). Even though she wouldn't shave my face, she was very nice and did a good job with my haircut. She also gave me a nice hot towel and massage - a nice touch. I've been coming to the shop for about 7 years plus and honestly it used to be one of the best now it's almost impossible to get a haricut, on of their barbers likes to show up whenever he desires, loves to show up late. After a very stressful day I went to the barber for a relaxing shave. I love the hot towels, the pre-shave oil and the hot lather. The short, definite, confident strokes of a barbers straight blade moving across my face is great. I find it all very relaxing. But, I found nothing relaxing about this barber shop. When I walked in, the music was very loud latin music. It reminded me of music you hear at a night club. The towels felt more warm than hot. When I mentioned the towels weren't hot, she argued they were hot!! I'm not sure, but I think the towel might have been hot. I think she pulled it out of the hot box and ran it under hot water. The hot water isn't nearly as hot as the towel when it comes out of the hot box, so it actually would cool the towel. Not positive if that is what happened, but the towel should have been much hotter and the barber should not have argued with me. The barber was a very young woman. She took no care in applying the pre-shave oil. She did not slap it on, but I doubt I would have noticed too much of a difference if she had slapped it on. There was a quickness that felt rushed. Now the worst part....the blade across my face HURT!!!!! It hurt a LOT!!!! I made her stop. I just couldn't take it. I left with only a 1/4 of my face shaved. There was nothing relaxing about this shop, barber or shave. I normally go to the Arrowhead area to V's Barbershop. I will stay with V's!!! read more

I typically bring my sons in several times a year and they have always done a great job, made the boys feel comfortable, and have a clean mellow establishment. They do get really busy at times and I would recommend arriving early morning to avoid the wait. Freddy has been cutting my hair since 1999 back in NY. Ive been to his original shop in Brooklyn, NY and he's one of the best. We lost a great barber when he left NY. He's Dominican so spanish music and language are part of his culture and will be present at his shop. If you want a NY style hair cut with fine Dominican craftsmanship Arizona your in luck. If spanish language and music bother you then you should go to the mall or "super cuts" where they will put a bowl on your head and cut around it .
