I had high hopes for this store as I visited yesterday afternoon. I found the staff to be rude and disinterested in helping me find selections. Both were playing on their phones and didn't bother to even look up as another customer attempted to make conversation and compliment the decor. As another reviewer wrote, they seemed judgmental of those of us coming from Charlotte to visit as part of the Charlotte Book Crawl. This is a great opportunity for indie bookstores to attract a large number of new clientele. read more

Went to winthrop for years and didn't know this was here. The vibes are IMMACULATE. So many books and they're well organized. It felt endless. Lots of the books seemed regularly priced to me but there were a few cheaper gems in there. You can get % off if you donate books and the workers are always very kind. Great little used book store that we stopped at during a vacation visit to the area. The staff was really great- answered questions and looked up books, but weren't overly intrusive. They let me wander and browse without interruption. Found a few books and a leather dice-tray (iykyk). Ended up back there, 2 days later, bringing my Mom- she loved it, too! The area for kids and youth books had a maze-like feel to it that would have appealed to me at that age (and to my offspring, had they been there).And the blind date book packs had some wicked funny descriptions. read more

Went in to browse with my kid and it was a great time! They have SO MUCH and at a great price! The kids section is amazing, too-not just an afterthought. They are currently having some construction work done (was not loud or dusty in the main area though) . I can't wait to see what they do with the extra space. Probably the most fun i've ever had book shopping. Although they did not have some of the books i was looking for (not their fault) i left with some books i wanted just as badly. Super friendly staff with patience, (i know this because i asked multiple questions multiple times in a row) i will most definitely be visiting again when i need more books! also had a unique trade in program as well! beats going to big stores such as BAM any day. also, they had a pretty cool mystery book thing! read more

My favorite book store in town! Has books for me and my kids love the books in the YA section and all the graphic novels.

The gal working at the counter was so helpful in trying to locate a few books we were looking for. She complimented my choices and recognized me as a quality nerd, lol. Not my favorite book shop in town (that's likely Tall Stories) but there are lots of treasures here. The staff here were having boisterous and judgmental conversation with each other behind the counter the whole time we were in. That is difficult for me since I battle intense general and social anxiety. I like my book shop owners kind and non-judgmental to make me feel ultimate comfort in browsing. I didn't get that in this particular shop. We did come away with a rare find by a famous regional author though. Parking is a little confusing as an open lot is somewhat shared with other nearby businesses. The general selection is broad in number of books--but most of the widely-read authors I like in the fiction genre were not represented anywhere I could find. The Civil War shelves also lacked inspiration. Lots of books but not much value. All of this made it tough for me to consider a higher rating. read more

We visited the Liberty Book Co. for the first time on a day trip we took to Rock Hill. I really liked the way the store was laid out and twists and turns that revealed new areas. Being mostly a non-fiction reader myself there wasn't a ton of that genre there for me, the store was mostly fiction and had a good amount of sci-fi/fantasy and whole area dedicated to the classics. There was also a small area for Manga and graphic novels that had a lot of stuff my son would love. All three of us that went were able find something unique to bring home. The folks that owned the place greeted us from behind the counter and chatted with us for awhile before we left. I will definitely visit this place again when in the area. read more

This place is a super quaint used bookstore with some really neat alcoves and a surprising selection. The cozy vibe is really appreciated, and since their opening they've beefed up a lot of their selection. It's nice to be able to stumble across little gems for cheap, you can end up snagging several books for under twenty bucks if you're savvy and open minded. They have a little bit of everything, and seem pretty available to help the lost or wayward shopper and book-lover. read more
