We have taken our daughter here for the open play days as she is not old enough yet to enroll in classes. So far it has been wonderful. She loves seeing all the other children playing and at times tries to interact. Teaching her to tumble safely and use her strength on the bars has been great. Completed a trial class when my daughter was about 2.5 years old. Pros: Class size was small. Gymnasium is large and has a lot of different types of equipment. Cons: In my opinion, many of the moves were too advanced for their age, especially after the instructor quickly demonstrated one time at each station. I couldn't even remember what to do at a station once we got to it! The coach seemed good enough, but for this age group didn't seem to have the patience required. I also felt that the transition to each activity was too quick for this age. Additionally, some of the stations were hard to follow (I had to keep getting the teacher's attention to show us the moves again because some weren't very intuitive, especially for first-timers). Overall, seems like it could be a good place for older kids but it was not a good fit for our toddler. read more

100% recommend!! Love this place!! We've done the open gym time here a few times and it is great, but started actual classes here a month ago for the structure and consistency. It's $160 ish (I think?) for 2 classes a month, which is a chunk, but not horrible when comparing to other options around here! My daughter (3yrs) LOVES it. Coach Jamie is AMAZING!! I can't say enough good things about her attitude, genuine care for the kids, and how she encourages, corrects, and graciously handles a bunch of toddlers. I hope we can stick with Coach Jamie as my daughter progresses! If you're debating on signing up- do it! I have zero regrets. We'll be sticking with Liberty! They also rotate the set up and focus of each week's classes, so it's always a little different and keeps the kids interested! Even with 2 classes a week, we've practiced different moves or focuses and done things differently with each class, while still consistently learning fundamentals. We've been using this facility on and off for a few years now. The manager, John Van Gogh, is helpful every time. I love it that they are a Charter School vendor. The facility has always been clean. We've been going to Liberty Gymnastics since 2017, and have had a truly wonderful experience. My daughter and I started with the Tot and Me class as soon as she was old enough, and she's continued up through their recreational classes over the years. Our family friends used to join us every Friday as well for the open gym time. It's been paused during covid, but I believe is coming back this fall. My daughter has done a few week long camps during the summer time, and always asks to go back for more! My son is finally old enough to start that same Tot and Me Class, and we've been going for a few weeks now, and he is having an absolute blast! He is in a class with Coach Marc (the same as my daughter), and he is over the moon to get to learn from "big sis's coach". Marc has always taken the time to go out of his way to say hello to the kids and check in with them (even when we aged out of his classes). He knows everyone's name at the gym, and you can tell how much he cares for the families and children that spend time at Liberty. My daughter loves to tell me all of the funny jokes he would make during class, and now my son does the same. They think he is just the best. I feel lucky that they both get to learn from from him. We've had a variety of coaches and teachers during our time there and they've been fantastic. Everyone there, from the front desk staff to the coaches, has always been kind and friendly. Not only have we always appreciated the welcoming and inclusive environment, but we've been impressed this last year with their covid protocols. I had a very bad experience in this place with my 4 year old son, he is autistic and he has some difficulty following instructions, so his instructor Tiana is not very patient about that ,she is always making faces and annoyed by him, and that just broke my heart ,he's been there for only 2 classes is not like he knows what he is doing yet , he needs a little bit more help than other kids, but he will follow eventually, I filled the forms and specified that he is on the spectrum, and I told her in person also, so they could say that they don't work with autistic children but nobody say anything because is easier to pretend that we include everyone when is not true or just take other people money when we don't even want to make an effort, I'm really dissatisfied ,disappointed of the service of this person, I don't know about the other trainers so I would not say anything about them. read more

My son loves this gym! The open play for toddlers is just simply fantastic ! I enrolled my son from fear he wasn't walking on his own at almost 16 months. He was very timid to let go of my hand. He mostly crawled and was very reluctant to walk. No kidding after 1-2 weeks of going 5 days a week; he was not only walking, but the amount of socialization from him with the other kids blew my mind ! He truly learned from the others, gained independence and plays with all ages now and not fearful! This class was the best thing I have done for his development thus far. I visited a couple gyms before I decided on Liberty. When I walked into this gym four months ago, I knew this would be the right fit for us. The gym is clean and the staff is amazing. Always friendly! When we started, the classes were limited and we took whatever class was available. I signed up on several waiting lists and shortly thereafter, Jillian and the other staff transitioned us into the time that worked best for us. We have been lucky to have Coach Marc as our Coach from the beginning because his style works for us. We attend class 2 times per week and each time it's a little different. As everyone knows, it takes a special person to work with children and Marc effortlessly connects with each child in my opinion. Each class, he engages children with singing throughout the lesson. It's a plus for us because my child loves to sing! I'm constantly hearing "Coach Mark is the best Coach ever". One of the many things he teaches them about is Teamwork. As my child who just turned 4 said to me a few hours ago, " As Coach Mark says, work smarter not harder by working together". Thank you Coach Marc! read more

From my personal experience, my son was excited to try in a new gymnastics class , he went in to class and got kicked out with in 3 minutes of class because he doesn't SPEAK English fluently!!! Coach said I'm not dealing with him and explaining him what to do. We tried Liberty for our rambunctious girl at age 4 for their Parents Night Out. She loved it! And so did we. It's a large facility; they took a spacious warehouse and turned it into a gym. The equipment is professional and appropriate for its purpose, the whole place is clean, and the instructors appear to know what they're doing. Upstairs lounge where you can observe all the action. Large selection of classes, and prices are in line with other gyms. I want to give them 5 starts, but we've been here only for Parents Night Out several times, she hasn't taken any full classes with them yet, so I don't have enough knowledge about the place to go 5 stars. But she did go to a birthday party at another popular gym in the area, and Liberty is better than that one. It's a good place to check out. read more

Our son is way more advanced than most of his peers who are not involved in gymnastics. This business is Covid safe as well. We have NEVER had an issue when our son is in his class. This is a comparative review of gymnastics pre-school programs: Head Over Heels, in Emeryville, and Liberty Gymnastics, in Concord. My daughter started at about 2.5 years old at Head Over Heels. This was her first experience being around other children outside of our immediate family and friends. The classes were short and structured and I could see progress each week in my daughter's coordination, strength, and confidence. We stayed with HOH for about a year, then I sought classes elsewhere. In addition to the urban location and class times during traffic hours, I would often find myself and my daughter either stuck in traffic coming home or spending an hour or more hanging out in Emeryville waiting for traffic to die out. I didn't mind so much, until my daughter's coach left HOH. He had to relocate with his family, which is understandable. HOH had rotating substitutes, and then COVID hit and classes were stopped for obvious reasons. Once we were able to return to classes, I decided to give Liberty Gymnastics a try based on a recommendation of my good friend. I will say, the program and facility of HOH and Liberty Gymnastics are very similar. I appreciate that the mats are clean, especially now more than ever. Liberty gymnastics is well run, regarding their class structures and office management. Policies are made clear with signage as well as constant email updates. I've had to change my daughter's schedule several times, just due to changes in circumstance, such as her starting Kindergarten, and I've emailed and spoke with several people, all of whom have been very helpful and accommodating. I've had the most interaction with Ms. Jillian, and she is always very pleasant. Most importantly, to me, I'm very happy with the consistency and dedication of my daughter's current coach, Coach Marc. After her second class, maybe even the first, my daughter would talk about him at home. "Coachie Marc says this." "Coachie Marc says that." Very cute. Her listening skills and memory have certainly improved, and my daughter really enjoys the songs Coach Marc uses to help guide the kids between stations/exercise circuits. Coach Marc effortlessly runs his classes like second nature, like a conductor of an orchestra. Every child is acknowledged, every child is addressed by their name. I appreciate his inclusion and I can tell it helps my daughter feel more comfortable and social with her classmates. Coach Marc has a natural, bright, high energy that, I believe, the kids can pick up on, and he holds their attention and classes move at a nice pace. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity for my daughter to be in Coach Marc's classes coming out of last year. I had experience with the recreational and competitive team. My close friends and I were supporting Liberty for a long time. They say we are a family but they only care about money, and they overcharge every month and don't pay you pack. The staff is constantly changing and hiring nee coaches every week because they are horrible people who see athletes as money and not kids. They discriminate a lot and only focus on certain individuals. They don't treat people equally and are discriminative if you have an accent or are from another country. We left the gym and they are requesting us to pay money that THEY owe us. Take your money and kids somewhere else. read more

My 4 year old daughter had her first gymnastics class here, let alone her first group class since she was two. I let the front desk know with hopes that she would let the teacher know it was her first time. We waited in a crowded room until her class started at 5:45pm, coach (will keep her name confidential for now because I will give her another try) approached me and asked if it was her first class. I told her yes and was confident my 4 year old, shy daughter would be taken care of. My daughter was a little nervous and didn't want to go, but the coach took her hand which I appreciated. There is a waiting room upstairs so I was able to watch. For a kids first class, I would expect the coach to at least show her the ropes, instead during an obstacle coarse, she just expected my little one to know what to do. It was so painful watching from above and seeing no help from the coach. Next was the long trampoline jump.. It is very intimating to jump across your first time especially Bc there are tons of other classes going on. She helped her walk to the end where they jump off into a pillow block pit. My daughter jumped in and her face was buried in the pit and of course, not one coach to help her out. I was watching nervous for her she would freak out and not get herself out. I get it, I don't think kids should be babied or hand held, but for a FIRST CLASS.... i just didn't understand how she would think a 4 year old would know what to do. Why will I give them another try? There aren't many gyms to choose from and I as a parent know I need to get my little one out of her comfort zone and can't let one coach define where I take her. My son has attended Liberty since he was 18mos old for Parent-Tot classes; now he's 4 and still looks forward to attending class. Our very first experience (and trial class) at Liberty was with Coach Marc. His methods are structured, age appropriate and very engaging, which was why we chose to learn at this particular gym. You can tell Coach Marc has years of experience coaching gymnastics simply by how he interacts with his students. His positive attitude, along with the fact that he takes time to speak with the parents about their child's strengths and recent improvements, is refreshing all around. We have been a Liberty Gymnastics family for 5 years. Both of my daughters started when they were 3 yo. For my eldest daughter, I was looking for an activity to help her with her body awareness and physical confidence. My youngest daughter was confident physically, but lacked confidence articulating herself and had a mild speech delay. I firmly believe that gymnastics classes at Liberty helped both of them grow and blossom developmentally. Both girls have gone through the preschool program and open gym classes, headed by Coach Marc. He has a unique way of communicating with not only his students, but with the parents. He remembers each of his students (and parents!) names and uses it when he speaks to them. This is just one way that he connects with everyone and makes each of his students feel special. When he teaches, he asks each student to demonstrate the activity, with his guidance. Then he encourages the rest of the group to clap and cheer for that student. Occasionally, he also incorporates different languages and cultures! For my youngest daughter, he encouraged her to express herself during classes. You can see how much he enjoys being a teacher/educator, and that his love of gymnastics is merely the vehicle that he has chosen to use to fulfill that passion. Needless to say, both of my girls love going to Liberty. It has increased their strength, flexibility, and confidence. We live closer to another gymnastics center, but keep going to Liberty because of the phenomenal teachers, specifically Coach Marc. read more

So far I am conflicted as my daughter likes it but the devil is in the details. They offer a trial class to see if you will like it. If you do and sign up for the class you will get billed for the trial class. I am sure it is in the small print somewhere but it wasn't mentioned. Offer me a free donut and I eat it and I then decide to buy a dozen but they charge you for 13. So not really a free trial. Also they tell you they bill you on the first of the month but what they mean is on the 20th of the previous month. Also in the fine print but not clear, especially when you get a receipt email from them on the 22nd saying you payed on the first, more than a week on the future.
