The downstairs area was closed, so I headed upstairs to an open space holding a handful of simulators, as well as a bar area with high-top tables. The place had my favorite beer, Kane Head High, on tap, so that was already a plus in my book. I grabbed a pint and headed to a simulator to swing a few rounds using their in-house golf clubs of various sizes. The simulator offered several different types of game formats and themes. My one complaint about the play area was that the tee was very flimsy and had a small base, so it kept popping through the hole in the Astroturf and would need to be replaced. Our server was excellent and continued to check on our needs throughout the evening, which also included some of their excellent food. The Boneless Wings were available with a bunch of sauces, but we had opted for the Buffalo variety, which were spicy, crispy, and delicious. The Detroit-style, deep-dish Cheese Pizza had an excellent tomato sauce that was heavily seasoned with basil. The pizza had been cooked in a small rectangular pan, making sure that each slice had at least one crispy edge. The slices reminded me a bit of cafeteria pizza that had been jazzed up with tons of flavor. Lastly, the thin, crispy, and well-salted Fries were great and came with rosemary aioli and honey dijon mustard dipping sauces. Hudson Golf was a great new addition to the town, offering a fun activity, helpful service, and excellent food and drinks in a upscale atmosphere.

Bag boys afterward wouldn't give direction after the round and made us feel like a total bother. Service all around was awful with the exception of the Cart girl who was awesome. Facilities were outdated and looked terrible. Oh and it cost 200 bucks a person... hardly worth 50 a round. All around terrible experience, stay away!!

Its' neat design cleverly winds 18 holes within a small space. While the holes are not elaborate designs with windmills, the decor makes it close to a suburban putt putt experience. I received two hole-in-ones but I'd say these are mostly par 2/3. A sign says max four shots. That's relative haha. The restroom is a general public one at the head of the pier. There's a restaurant next to it or a seasonal snack shed. Great outdoor date or family outing!

I came for a small intimate wedding the other day for a family friend. Team bride. It's been years…read moresince I step foot here and I enjoyed the evening well. Ceremony was beautifully decorated. There was a water/lemonade station set up but it was abit too cold/windy for that. It got dark real fast mid-service and wished there was lighting available. Good thing the photographer had 1 light pole for pic to shine on the couple but other than that, it was cold and dark sitting there for the ceremony. Spacious and clean hall. Cocktail hour was also in the same space as dinner. I believe the ceremony started late and ran late; so the passed hors d'oeuvres was already available for us hungry guests. Trays of hors d'oeuvres and champagne greeted us when we stepped inside from the ceremony. Dinner was good and decent portion size. I believe the staff was short staffed as they weren't available to refill water glass and check on the table as much. They did a few initial check (before/and after meal) but not visibly seen as much. Overall, I enjoyed my evening here. Oh yeah, only noticed the next day that we never got the platter of cookies/brownies for the table at the end with our slice of wedding cake. Noticed it on the menu but none was given. Left 10min before party end and nada. Maybe they packaged it all up and gave it to the couple.

Sometimes trying to fall into a routine of jogging the perimeter of the place to get in shape (but immediately hitting the Arlington Diner after our workout which negated all that hard work). The town put all sorts of money to rebuild, revamp, revitalize Gunnel Oval and it's amazing the transformation that's taken place. (To say it's night and day wouldn't really convey how different today's Oval is from what I remember.) Maybe six baseball fields. Three soccer fields (and it looks like some of the baseball fields can be 'retrofitted' to a soccer match). An impressive skate-park (skateboarding used to be illegal and the police were not cool when they caught you on the street with your board, let me tell ya). Two "American Ninja" kinda-sorta gym/workout parts. Basketball courts. A few tennis courts. Seriously cool jungle gym playground for the tots. A quality interconnected sidewalk/walkway (for getting to/from the various spots inside of the complex). The fields are pristine (growing up you just had to deal with patches of grass and a lot of dirt/mud and all sorts of loose rocks and uneven terrain that would totally mess with your game). There isn't enough parking when all the fields are being used and of course the entitled parents do not care to park illegally and mess with the cars that are in actual/legit spots. (Not sure if the bathrooms were still open/available - they seemed fenced off on my most recent visit.)

I learned how to…read moreswim there, I had my fourth birthday party there, and I have had countless wonderful meals with exceptional service and fantastic food. I've spent Easters, Christmases, 4th of July parties (complete with fireworks!), father-daughter dances, and many more holidays and events end events here. I attended the summer camp, where we got instructions in arts and crafts, tennis, swimming, golf, and a lovely canned female provided upstairs. The memories created by the staff -- whether in the restaurant or out in the sports areas -- created memories that I will cherish forever. The community is also wonderful, and if you join, you'll make many friendships that will last a lifetime. Montclair Golf Club fosters an amazing experience for all who spend any amount of time there.

One advantage MGC has is two golf courses, so you can try 54 different holes among the two clubs. Dad's the second longest running member at RSGC, when he read that MGC was having a free wine tasting, we were in! The wine tasting area was set up on the outside patio, thankfully with a generous overhang-because this was the Friday night a few weeks ago when we had the unreal thunderstorm that lasted hours. Even so, we managed to try a wide variety of wines, generous pours, no limits. Terrific! Off we went inside for dinner, and my 'retro' wedge salad was somewhat modified and updated. The complimentary olive, celery stalk, radish, and sliced cucumber tray was pure 'retro'! I followed with swordfish which was tasty. Around the table were two veal chops and a petite filet. The two veal chops were both said to be the best anyone has ever had, and the petite filet was really good, according to my girlfriend. One thing-these are steakhouse prices, the 10oz filet was $47-and like a steakhouse, everything is ala carte-sides are extra. We had lyonnaise potatoes and they were tasty, hot, and salty. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful. So solid four starts-and the setting is worth five!
