Liberty Square is a nice urban park with a claim to fame being the Fort Sumter visitors center. In the Square you'll find a pavilion with seating, a fountain, and many trees. The ferry departure area is also nearby. At the visitors center you can buy your ferry tickets to the fort. Be sure to enter the center to read about the history. No parking is available except street parking. As of December 2023 it's $2 per hour to park.

Liberty square is a nice maintained park that will take you to three spots. The Charleston Aquarium, the Fort Sumter National Monument and the Maritime Center. All separated within walking distance by the water. The park has a nice seating shaded area. You can picnic here. The manicured space will make some for some great photos.

Liberty Square is the park area as you approach the water. Lots of things going on from the aquarium to catching the tour boats over to Fort Sumter. Well kept and nice place

Hung here briefly while waiting for the ferry to Ft Sumter. It's chill outside but nothing that really made me jump up and down. Inside is a brief museum which gets one ready for the Ft Sumter tour (excellent), bathrooms, and a gift shop. Nice

Great views of the harbor and centralized in walking distance between the South Carolina Aquarium and Fort Sumter. This is one of many beautiful green spaces to leisurely enjoy and just walk through in Charleston. You can make a whole day of it by also visiting the aquarium and taking ferry out to Fort Sumter.

Liberty Square hosts mainly the Charleston Aquarium and the Fort Sumter ferry services. The area is a nice respite from the heat of the sun, and there are plenty of shaded areas where to sit. Lots of kids come here, and they visit the aquarium. Also, lots of seniors come here, and they visit the fort.

I really like the Liberty Square park in Charleston. This green area that is part of the National Park Service surrounds the South Carolina Aquarium and the Fort Sumter Monument and has a nice wide open area that has a lawn, plenty of benches, a fountain, a covered area, and cool educational markers. The waterfront area is also really nice to catch views of the harbor and a nice breeze on a warm day. This location is very well maintained and clean at all times and is nice to have a place to go to on a nice day to enjoy some fresh air and even have a picnic or just run around and have fun. I have really enjoyed Liberty Square throughout the years and look forward to being able to come back here many times in the future.

I will make a note that there are lots of birds and they are not afraid of dropping ppoop from above. My cousin was a representative of that, as well as someone else we saw in the park. There are lots of statues with history in them as well. On a hot day, the sea breeze feels great, and in the winter, it can make it much cooler. There are lots of homes that look out to the park and give it a vibe that is out of a movie. There are sidewalks and ramps in the area, but sometimes there are a situation of off-road driving is needed. As not all of this is ADA-compliant. We got to see some cannons as well as the place where they were fired from. You can see lots of dogs and its leash free park, so you might have a four legged from come say hi. There are still rules about how they have to be friendly, and that you still have to have control over your pet. There was a gazebo in the middle that was a great place to take a break without fear of bird poop falling from the sky. Overall, it was a great park to visit while getting some history.

My husband went multiple times on our trip to get our morning jogs in. I highly recommend it as a sunset walk as well.
