There's public parking, and depending on the day, you might even find an ice cream truck. A few blocks away, you'll find restaurants and cafes, making it a great stop before or after a meal. You can even walk or bike the entire stretch from Weehawken to West New York along the waterfront. Whenever I'm in the area, I make it a point to stop here even just for a few minutes. The deal has already been made. I signed that contract with myself. I'm doing it." All this to say, I've been on an absolute SPRINT this year. I'm exhausted and drained, but it's been worth it. I started the year with 5,101 followers, and today (Aug 6th) I have 75.5k. I hate judging things off of follower counts, but it is the best metric to depict what success looks like doing this. This past Sunday I was damn near bed ridden sick, but I heard Kobe's voice in my head so I dragged myself out of bed to Hoboken to go do another video. I got off the Path train and started walking, when I turned my head to the right and saw one of the most beautiful views I've seen this year at Pier A Park. A huge grassy plain, with a full view of the New York City Skyline from nose to tail across the Hudson River. It felt like a green screen. It made me pause and be present for the first time in awhile. I've been running so fast at this goal that I haven't really appreciated the journey at all, but this view forced me to stop and smell the roses. I just sat here for 30 minutes thinking "damn life is so beautiful and human beings are amazing." It reminds me of that allegory in the Alchemist when the wise man tells a boy to go explore all the marvels of a magnificent palace, but instructs him to carry a spoon with two drops of oil without spilling any. The first time he comes back with all the oil but misses all the beauty of the palace. The 2nd time he comes back having seen everything there is to see, but has no oil in the spoon. The wiseman concludes by saying "The secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world, and never forget the drops of oil on the spoon." You're probably like wtf is wrong with this guy hijacking this review of Pier A park to trauma dump, and that's fair. I'm a little crazy for sure. Shoutout to Pier A park though. My boyfriend and I walked from our spot to a space overlooking the water. On our walk there I saw a cute bike and walking/running paths along the way so I definitely know where I'll be going my next walk! At first, I wasn't sure if we could sit on the grass since I didn't see many people sitting on it around us but once we set everything up park patrol just drove by and that's it. I like how park patrol drives around as it makes me feel safe and secure. As time went on, the park started getting a bit more crowded with adults and children biking, walking, running, skating but nothing too crazy. It was nice to see everyone enjoying the weather! Can't wait to go back to check out the walking paths!
