Fantastic atmosphere but it is FREEZING. It's a large room with that library feel, but they decorate it so well that it doesn't feel too big. All the windows are wonderful but also make it so so cold in there you need to dress warm or you won't last long. There is a fire place in the center but it doesn't emit any heat unless you touch it. This is a great place to work at, catch up with a friend, or digest a drink. I think the drink service starts at 3 but the room is available way before that. Wonderful spot for date night! Service was friendly and quick, and the decor is very cool. They have some cozy couch seating areas and some tables and chairs. We decided to visit the bar while staying at the Omni. I wish I could remember the bartender's name but I can't. It was a petite female with black hair. She was AMAZING!!! She made great cocktails and was super warm and pleasant. She took really good care of us in spite of having many people to serve. For cocktails we had old fashioned and lullaby and good night. My coworkers and I are here for the NACADA Conference and staying in this wonderful hotel! We decided to have a night cap before retiring for the evening. We loved the atmosphere but our server was terrible! I think it may have been his 1st day on the job because he was clueless when it came to customer service! The drinks can be pricey. The seating area is nice and cozy, with couches and armchairs all around. The drink menus are classified by type of spirit, and are on old school library check-out cards, which I loved! That being said, though, the selection is kind of limited. All-in-all, if you want a nice place to hangout with people (or just be alone) and relax with some cocktails, give this place a try. So I'm trying all these amazing places in the Omni. This place is beautiful and full of history. The photos take you back in time for this beautiful city. It's a nice quiet spot in the mornings and the bar opens mid afternoon. I'm absolutely in love with all the photos. Tons of light from the floor to ceiling windows and an inviting fireplace that doesn't cook you in the summer. As with almost every space here, they pay homage to the rich history of horse racing with photos, sculptures and more. Okay y'all, this new bar is awesome! Whether you are staying at the Omni or just dropping in for a bit, this is the place to go. It's the Omni's more "casual" bar, but is nothing short of extravagant. A friend and I came in here before a Yelp event and it made for a great place to hang out. Princess, the bartender, was very accommodating and made a fantastic bourbon sour for me. Yeah, it was a little pricey, but it was garnished and made very well. The inside of this bar is just so beautiful. In every aspect, it looks like you are sitting in a prestigious library. heck, even the drink menus are on little library cards! After weeks of saying we wanted to visit The Omni, me and my 2 best friends made a trip to specifically have a drink at The Library. It is gorgeous and impressive, yet makes me want to flop on the closest couch and dish on the latest work woes and what to watch next on Netflix. The space is good for a couple or a larger group. I appreciated the details - book spines painted to display the Belle of Louisville, bookshelves and ladders, oversized chairs, throw pillows on the couches and an electric fireplace. Cocktails and liquors were typed on library cards. While you could approach the bar for a drink, a server did come by for last call. The Library only offers cocktails, no light bites. The cocktail prices are on the high end - $16 + tip for my old fashion that was strong but only filled up half the glass (and that's because the ice boosted it). They also closed at midnight with last call at 11:30p. While the bar closes, you can continue your night there for as long as you'd like. (Need another drink? Walk across the hall into Pin & Proof to carry another over.) read more

Well this is upsetting: I place an order for lamb chops [at the library bar] by saying "I want 4 orders of lamb chops" only to find out after an hour of waiting, that the order was not placed AND could not be placed because of the menu change. I came in specifically for drink and appetizers and to only have 1/2 partially completed is disheartening. And the drink of preference is incomplete (because they ran out). It's unfortunate. And I do not appreciate it. I have been here before and able to order consistently, especially when I came for it particularly. No exceptions. No provisions. No consideration. At least on atmosphere, the Library Bar at the new Omni hotel joins the ranks of Louisville's exceptional hotel bars like the Lobby Bar at the Brown or the Seelbach or the hip spots at 21c and 8UP. The design is a contemporary take on the old world library with floor to ceiling bookcases, interlaced with modern artwork and a dramatic copper-like metal fireplace. A variety of comfortable soft seating invites you to sit and linger, whether having a drink with friends or solo with your favorite book or tablet. Drink selections are decent but lack much depth especially in bourbon (at least by Louisville standards). Prices were certainly high, and drinks were disappointedly weak. Further, the lack of food options is surprising and could deter me on future stops. Overall, it's neat to see and hang out, but if drinks and food matter (as they usually do), I'll probably go elsewhere. read more
